I’m a big sushi snob, and if you want quick & inexpensive sushi that’s still good this hole in the wall spot is a good option! Been going her for over ten years. I usually order take out– space is small indoors. I’ve never had a problem with the fish being fresh, it’s always good! I usually stick to my usuals which is Palm Springs roll substituting the Cali roll with spicy tuna(try it!) and a spicy tuna salad. Aside from those, the jalapeño cracker appetizer is cool! Hit or miss with the spicyness of the jalapeño. Staff is super friendly and quick.

Just keep in mind that they can forget to fulfill your order. I just realized that I haven’t got my desert, even though i paid for it. They only served me the main dish and the drink and that’s it. Really disappointed…

Tried a new sushi spot in the hood. THEAMBIANCE: Yen Sushi & Sake Bar(«Yen») is very small and the tables are close together so get comfortable. It is located in the shopping plaza of Albertson’s next to Coffee Bean. THEFOOD: We ordered the Jalapeño Cracker(Deep Fried Jalapeño with Spicy Tuna, $ 7.95) to start. I have to say I was hesitant to try it because it’s jalapeño(usually too spicy for me) but it was not spicy at all. The portion was pretty large(see picture) and it came on top of a salad with a really tasty, sweet dressing. It was a bit of a weird presentation but I enjoyed the flavors of both the jalapeño crackers and the salad(apart). I would recommend this appetizer. For sushi we ordered the Las Vegas Roll(Tuna, Salmon, Carrot, Avocado, and Crab, deep fried, $ 10.95)(I think we might have added cream cheese) and the Snowcorn Roll(Cali Roll with Baked White Fish, scallions, smelt, and sauce on top, $ 11.95). The Las Vegas Roll was too much. It felt like you got more tempura than fresh fish etc. The sushi pieces come out large. We weren’t fans. In regards to the Snowcorn Roll, it is similar to my favorite roll at Octopus in Burbank, called the Snow Cone Roll. The Snowcorn Roll tasted good but not as good as the Snow Cone Roll at Octopus. I don’t remember if it had cream cheese but the one at Octopus does. I give Yen three(3) stars because I enjoyed the appetizer and the Snowcorn Roll was okay. In all honesty, I am not sure if I will return apart from maybe getting the appetizer again as take-out. THETIPS: Hours of operation are: Monday-Saturday 11 am-11 pm and Sunday 12 noon-10 pm. There are three(3) other locations: Long Beach, Brentwood, and Studio City.

In a word, BLAH. Bland rolls… All four of them. We would have been better off eating take out at the grocery store. How do you mess up a spicy tube roll? Lackluster service. Our waiter took his shirt off mid-shift and left. We should have followed his lead. Never again.

Good sushi spot for a quick bite. Parking is a bit tough depending on the time you go since the parking is shared with Coffee Bean and Albertsons. It’s a small space so not ideal for large parties. The prices are a bit on the higher side but the do have daily specials. I’ve only dined in a handful of times since we usually do take out. I would recommend this place for casual dining.

Love this place but they weren’t on their A-game today like they usually are. Ordered tuna sushi and instead they brought out salmon. My husband ordered bibimbap without the egg but they brought it out with the egg. They were nice about it and took everything back and made it right, but still kind of a bummer. All of that being said, when they brought the orders out right everything was delicious! I mean really really good. Probably the best bibimbap we’ve ever had. Their tuna was firm with excellent flavor. We will still definitely be coming back!

My girlfriend and I absolutely love this place. Their quality is superb and they have so many options to choose from. We love their rolls but last time we ate off the appetizer menu instead. Let me just say that it was amazing. Their selection was amazing and most importantly they are affordable for this section of town. People complaining about their takeout should just go across the parking lot to Alberston’s for their take out sushi. Eat inside and both their waitresses are attentive and very friendly. If you don’t know what to eat, they will turn you on to one of their favorites. We tried Yellowfin belly last time off their suggestion and it by far has become my favorite piece of sushi. We will be back soon, keep up the great job!

This place is fantastic! I’ve had many pleasant experiences, dine-in and take-out. They have a super kind staff and well-rounded menu. My go-to is the spicy tuna tempura(not the most exotic, I know) which is great and their specialty rolls are mad delicious(Macadamia Roll, Scallop Volcano Roll, and Hungry Roll) which you can sometimes get on specials throughout the week. Parking is great and wait time is short. Will continue to frequent this location! Keep up the great work!

My fave sushi place, yummy yummy yummy! Been going here for years even before they changed the name and the food has always been fresh and delicious. I love the crispy rice with spicy tuna and the boston roll but everything I’ve had is great!

We were looking for Sushi and had never had sushi in the area. Thanks to all the reviews on Unilocal,we gave this place a shot. We loved it! My husband is picky about seafood, especially scallops because our son is a chef — the scallops and shrimp appetizer dish was perfect! The sushi delicious and the service was great! We will be back for more!

Today’s takeout was unpleasant. Maybe I just had a bad batch but I picked up my sushi and rolls today 15 minutes after placing the order(they told me I would be 15 – 20 minutes in the phone) and when I got home(less than 5 minutes away) everything tasted warm and just not fresh at all. I am really disappointed. I feel like I just threw away $ 50. Hopefully my Husband has lower standards and will eat it — because I won’t. The Hawaiian roll looks and tastes like its canned tuna according to my much easier to please husband. As I have never had canned Tuna I cannot say but it was just not enjoyable. No more take out sushi for me. It’s dine-in or don’t-dine-at-all from now on. Side note: The take out chopsticks they have are very poor quality compared to modt sushi places. They have a lot more splinters so if you take out I suggest using chopsticks from somewhere else.

What this place lacks in real estate space it makes up in good quite sushi. I came here flying solo looking for a refreshing dinner to kick me up. I ordered the dinner special, providing me with a variety of sushi and other items for about 20 dollars. The dinner special comes with miso soup and a salad. The miso soup was nice and piping hot but I did not see any tofu floating around, just a few specks flying around in there. I ordered the Tuna and salmon nagiri along with the Golden Cracker Roll. It golden cracked is awesome. Spicy, crispy and delicious. The service was very fast and the staff here was very nice. In all it came to about 20 dollars.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. This little hole in the wall sushi without a sushi bar. The place was empty when we got there and to be honest I was more than a little worried. But it was clean and we were hungry. First thing they have every roll that you can think of. They all«looked great» the menu is really big must have 50 rolls. FANTASTICSUSHI fresh and well made. Great sauces, cool presentation and the service was incredible. Normal prices 14 dollars per roll average. What a great find

This place is over. Used to be solid. It’s now over priced and stingy. Friendly staff and fresh sushi. But way too expensive for the portions. Also. The bowls have shrunk. Three pieces of broccoli in my chicken bowl. I asked for more and I was told it would be a separate charge. There are new and better options in the neighborhood. After over a decade of eating here(even when it was California Sushi Roll) I’m finished. Their daily specials are overpriced and all deep fried. Sweet servers, but not worth it.

Definitely one of my top 3 sushi experiences of all time and I’ve had all types of sushi from all over the place. Even the cheaper sushi was delicious and quantity was there too. Paid $ 22 bucks and left full, happy and fulfilled.

Affordable sushi that hits the spot, but nothing to write home about. I tried the hot night roll, jimmy sand, 911 roll, and spicy scallop cut roll. The total was $ 45 and it was plenty of food. The spicy scallop was the weakest. Jimmy sand was really good. Easy pick up place in my neighborhood so I will return.

I can’t really give a full review of Yen because I’m a vegetarian and haven’t had 99% of their menu, but I am utterly addicted to their avocado rolls. They are so good. I’ve been trying to find an avocado roll as good as, or better than, theirs and have thus far completely failed. So A+ job on avocado rolls. Everything else???

Local sushi spot… small but has good sushi. I always look at their specials, they have good deals. Make sure you check them out before ordering. The macadamia roll is like comfort food and a must try. Also, if you’re a sashimi lover, try the salmon appetizer with vinegar oil… it’s like heaven in your mouth. It’s small, so if you have a big group(4 or more) you may want to call to reserve space or go at a non rush hour time. Parking is not a problem, they’re located in a small plaza next to coffee bean.

This restaurant shares the parking lot with Albertson’s and Coffee Bean. Easy parking is always a plus! The bento box is good and filling. I had the teriyaki beef, and it came with tempura, salad, rice, two piece of rolls and fruit. I’ve also tried the sashimi chef’s choice and the pieces of fish were fresh and thick. I did not enjoy the tempura roll because the fish inside became overcooked and dry… however I do want to go back to try their daily specials. The place is tiny and narrow… and feels kinda cramped. But it’s a good place for lunch!
