They’re closed. Too bad– they were a good place to go for cheap, fast eats or takeout. Knockout chicken salad. They will be missed.

Ordered here a lot when I worked out of Chainsaw Post. Great selection of sushis and EXCELLENT lunch deals. Parking is defnitely awful as the lot is very small and they’re next door to California Chicken Café, which is often very busy(and they don’t deliver). Place is very clean and the staff are very nice. Service is very quick. Great place for to-go lunch.

Good deal for lunch! Sashimi rice is awesome! Huge portions and delicious ginger sauce. Restaurant is clean and counter-order service is quick and friendly. I’m a regular for lunch here. P. S. Parking can be difficult with the small lot, but they do have curbside pickup.

just had a late lunch here with girlfriends and for the price and quality, I thought it was great. The staff was friendly, the restaurant itself was clean, and parking was a breeze. They have a bunch of combo bento boxes. I had the one with the shrimp tempura roll, teriyaki chicken, and potato salad. The portions were super generous and they have a little condiment(wasabi, ponzu, hotsauce, ginger) bar near the cash register which I thought was convenient. Overall, it was a great place to grab a quick bite and I will be back whenever i am in the area!

Im gonna keep this one simple. — Japanese style fast food — Great lunch prices — Get what you pay for — Great to get your sushi/japanese fix during lunch — Meh service(its just cuz they’re young and well… idiots. so i forgive) — Made my stomach hurt once or twice but really not enough to curse the place — Offers korean dishes… just the bim bim bap and bulgogi bowl — Never really a line, just crappy parking. — i like their creamy sriracha or is it sriracha mayo? whatever, its great! And that about sums it up… yea not bad.

My friends and I went to this place yesterday. I had the beef bowl with the 7 types of vegetables. I thought it was very good. I enjoyed the korean bbq beef. The vegetables were delicious, but a little too salad like. I thought some of the vegetables would be cooked. I’m not really a salad girl. I like food that sticks to my bones. :-) What I did appreciate was the free green iced tea. It was quite good. My friends liked the sushi too and their prices are very reasonable. Its a cute place with good food.

This counter service place serves delicious, korean designed japanese sushi. the service is adequate, and the prices are affordable. However, their bathroom reeked of dirty mop water. I wish they would just fresh, hot, mop water, add a little beach, and then clean their really AWESOME bathroom.

This place is awesome! I was amazed on how good this place was, and the price makes it even unbelievable. I’m not a big fan of rolls, but this place made me a believer! I even made a Unilocal account just to post this review !!

I’ll keep this simple. The food here is really fresh and super yummy. You really can’t beat their prices, and are my go to place for nights I don’t really feel like making dinner. And their complimentary lemonade green tea is delight!

Talk about bang for your buck! Wandered in here for lunch the other day(I live just down the street) and tucked into one of their«mix rice», or bimbimbap, bowls. I was expecting a mall-quality teriyaki combo. Instead, I found a lovely mix of grilled white meat chicken, 7 different types of fresh, vibrant veggies, a fluffy bed of romaine, and a thin layer of brown rice. For 8 bucks, I was nourished & left full but not overly so. Oh, and they threw in a free green-tea/lemonade. I’ve yet to try their sushi but might give it a go; generally, cheap sushi gives me the willies but based on the overall cleaniness/freshness of the restaurant, I’ll bet it’s above average.

Good place for inexpenive and quick Japanese food. Prices and selection are very reasonable given the quality of food. Chicken teriyaki is a plus as are the spicy tuna rolls.

I WAS going to go to the California Pizza Kitchen next to Wow Bento & Roll. But the line in front of the cashier encouraged me to try this little restaurant. And I’m glad I did. The place looks a bit like what Pinkberry would look like if they sold Japanese fast food instead of frozen yogurt. Kinda modernist with clean lines and simple furniture. It’s an aesthetic I can get into, so that’s fine. I wouldn’t order sushi here because, simply put, I’m a sushi snob and I don’t really care for most of the rolls offered in fast food environments. The other food, from what I sampled, was actually pretty darn good and very reasonably priced. I had the chicken cutlet bento which was surprisingly generous(two full cutlets) and tasty: nice and crisp without being overly salty or dry. It was served with sushi rice(yum!) and a mixed salad. And it was seven dollars and twenty-eight cents. So, a full, tasty meal in a more polished than average fast-food setting. For a quick meal on Melrose, you could definitely do a lot worse. By the way, even if you don’t need to use it, go check out the bathroom. You’ll be entertained.

Prices are really reasonable here — Spicy Tuna Roll for $ 3.99, Shrimp Tempura roll for $ 4.99, and the spicy tuna /shrimp tempura roll for $ 6.99. They have all kinds of sushi and korean fast foods(bi bim bap — korean beef bowls; hwe dol bop — sashimi salad and rice; teriyaki chicken bowls; etc). Today, I ordered the spicy tun /shrimp tempura roll for me and a buddy, and after the first bite, I knew either the owners or the cooks have changed here. It was ok for the price, but I wasn’t fully impressed with the food. It was fast-food tasting(what can you expect, right?). Been here about 5+ times, and all other times the food was pretty good.

I would have given this place a solid 3 stars if it weren’t for the standoffish cashier who took my order. There were two women in front of the register– one who looked liked the owner(on her cell phone) and a younger girl who just stood there staring at me(while managing to ignore me at the same time). I was like«hmmm… did I forget to get out of my invisibility cloak?» Anyway, after several awkward minutes later, the lady on the phone elbowed the younger girl and the girl took two steps to the register and looked at me… she didn’t say anything but something in her eyes told me that she wanted me to order so I did(no I wasn’t looking around lost or anything– I knew what I wanted as I have been to their location at Glendale Galleria). When she told me what the total was, I could tell that the tally was somehow much cheaper than I anticipated. Anyway, long story short– I had to repeat my order several times before she finally got it right. She seemed totally irritated by my presence. I felt unwelcomed there but it was too late to walk out– All I wanted was some rolls for dinner yo ’cause I am too lazy to cook! When I told my Korean friend this, my friend told me that they may have behaved like that because they thought I was some sort of a spy– you know, out to steal their delicious ideas and sell it to other Korean places… or something :-P(I don’t know if they still do this but they used to not allow cameras at the Pinkberry in West Hollywood but I digress). REALLY? Wow… Bento & Roll… Yeah that’s who I am… a clandestine operative out to get your secret recipes… for rolls! –_– Anyway, their rolls are decent. I had been to their location in Glendale when Panda Express was too busy and I was too hungry to wait in line after a long day of retail therapy. When I was driving by and saw the place I was like, hey, this beats my normal fare of microwaved corns! Oh yea, and parking is hell. Place was clean but a little too depressing to dine in. OK place to grab a fast and cheap lunch… if you are not a spy… or me LOL. I probably won’t be back… not that they’d miss me or me whining about their service or anything.

Cheap, decent. Rolls and stuff, so don’t get excited, but for a $ 6 lunch I’m happy. Currently living in a construction zone, so even microwaving wasn’t an option. Wow bento and roll saved lunch. Pretty decent for fast food sushi.

I paid like $ 6 for a roll and a salad. It’s insane. It’s clean, it’s fine, it’s semi good tasting and it’s practically free sushi. Nuff said. For the love of self dignity, don’t eat inside the restaurant because that’s kind of depressing, but if you get sushi to go you can come home with a freaking buffet of totally acceptable fast food sushi for like $ 20. It’s crazy.

Having been a fan of California Chicken Café since I discovered it back in what I think was 1997, I’ve seen it’s neighboring store go through many businesses… Now Bento and Roll has made a landing on this little strip mall. Loving sushi, one can get a little snobby about the fair we let pass our pallet. Considering the low cost of the product which is certainly on the good side of quality, I’m happy to pay $ 6 to $ 11 for the various dishes. The Bento boxes are a good fill with a variety of choices to choose from. I love some tempura and teriyaki myself. The only item I’ve tried so fair which I didn’t like at all and left was the Miso soup. You’d think that would be the easiest of dishes to get right.

discovered when it was blowing up at Cal. Chix Café next door. i was def. skeptical, all those ‘hello kitty type’ décor & colors. tried spicy combo, surprisingly good, but not real authentic, but at like $ 5 – 6 was great econimizer. saw some of the salads too, very healthy portions.comps 2 staff-very efficient & personable. the restroom is fun adventure, w/tv monitor&all…btw-theyr’e closed sun.

I have been a patron of California Chicken Café for quite awhile, but I’m a sucker for teriyaki and tried this place about a month ago. I’ve eaten here the past three days and I’m definitely hooked. It’s incredibly affordable and the meat is of a great quality. My only complaint is that the extra $ 2.00 for brown rice is a little steep, but for quick, healthy asian food in a clean, friendly environment, this is the best I’ve found.

I LOVE this place! Great selection of sushi, salads, and bowls at super cheap prices and their portions are very generous! It’s fairly small but somehow I always manage to find a table. You can also call in for them to have your order ready if you want to do take-out. Their staff is great and fast. In short, it’s not Katsuya but definitely a tasty, affordable, neighborhood sushi joint.
