Wayne Dvorak Acting Studio

This studio is hands down the best training I have taken over the years especially in Los Angeles. It really teaches emotional control when approaching the thing we call acting, his curriculum is only for the serious actor I would highly suggest taking Wayne’s class if you are a seasoned vet or beginner.

I am just completing my first year of the two year Meisner training taught by
Mr. Dvorak. I am amazed at how I have developed as an actor and I am also amazed at how much more is still in front of me, but I embrace the challenge. Make no mistake it is a commitment and requires that you do the work. If you don’t have the time or desire to rehearse, prepare, and focus for the next two years try a cold read class. However, if you really want to take the time to immerse yourself in true Meisner training with an excellent and caring teacher I highly recommend Mr. Dvorak.

Wayne Dvorak is such a great Meisner acting coach! His way of teaching Meisner technique is incredible. When I first took the class I was so nervous and I didn’t know what I was throwing my self into but I knew I wanted to be an actress, little did I know that with time and over the year he unwrapped that out of me.
He is so straight forward so if your ready to be a professional actress/​actor get ready to hear what he has to say. The way he breaks down the Meisner technique is on another level of what you can really call a professional Meisner acting coach he doesn’t read it of a book. He’s been doing this for so many years he works with you one on one. If you can’t cry on cue, get angry or sad. He will work with you until you unwrap that out of you.

Mr. Dvorak is definitely one of the best acting teachers I have ever had. He has so much to offer in his class and I can assure that anyone who takes his class will be satisfied with their results. He is an incredible mentor and will give you advice on just about anything you need. Wayne is a patient person and he will give you his undivided attention and take the time to make sure you understand the class and continue to progess. I have never been able to understand the meaning of connecting with other people until I joined this class. Mr. Wayne is the real deal, and I truly mean it. HE KEEPS YOU ACCOUNTABLE! He could care less about collecting your monthly fee, he is truly in the business of teaching Meisner because he knows it works and wants to see his actors work. You also study directly with the man himself, no signing up for someone’s studio only to work with junior instructors for years until you get to work with the person whom you initially signed up to study under. Mr Wayne is the real deal, and he offers free audits for you to see for yourself. You can even participate in the class as well. He has helped my acting tremendously and he will take the time and put in the effort to do the same for you.

Wayne Dvorak is an exceptional Meisner teacher. He teaches the Meisner Technique, scene study, and vocal work which many instructors fail to include in their teaching. This class is great training for anyone trying to look for the truth in themselves and can be a real eye opener. After only the first few months you will be able to read people and tell what their behaviors and reactions say about them. As far as acting goes Wayne really hones in on being in the moment and being true and connecting with the characters. With that said, if you join Wayne’s class, he wants you to be commited and serious about your work because he will throw so much knowledge your way and he wants to make sure that you take in everything that he has to say and apply it to your acting. Wayne goes out of his way to make everyone connect with each other within the group which makes for a relaxing class environment. Our class is more than a group of actors, we become a family.

I’ve had countless acting instructors and worked with a variety of different acting methods since I was about 14 years old. While I learned a great deal from each, and feel that I’ve developed a strong skill set, nothing has brought me as in touch with my emotional life as the Meisner technique. After only six months of training at the Wayne Dvorak Acting Studio in Los Angeles, CA I feel a reality and an honesty in my acting that I rarely felt in my four years of Theatre training at the University of Southern California. In very few words, the Meisner technique focuses on engaging in the reality of each moment, so that you’re reacting in real time rather than reciting line readings. As a result, your interaction with your fellow actors, your thought process, and your acting is honest and in the moment. For film especially this is vital, because the camera reads everything going on behind your eyes. My theatrical training gave me a great sense of WHAT I need to be hitting in each moment, what needs to happen to move the story along, but not necessarily HOW to get there. The Meisner technique is finally opening that door for me, expanding my emotional range and depth in an organic, truthful way. And I cannot rave enough about Wayne as a coach. He has an intuitive sense of the needs of each particular actor and puts great effort into understanding you as an individual– how you work, what your barriers are and how to overcome them. His training is very very personalized and suited to your needs. He also has an amazing knowledge of the business and is always ready with information about resumes, headshots, SAG, casting directors, etc. The Wayne Dvorak Acting Studio is an incredible find! I would recommend it to anyone, whether you are new to the craft or have been studying for 10 years.

This is a class for serious people only. Dvorak will get you to look at yourself and find out what makes you tick. Eventually you’ll become more comfortable in your own skin, which will enable you to be free in the choices you make. It’s a process that takes commitment and trust. Dvorak will put you through this process using the Meisner Technique, and he’ll guide you through it in a way that’s specific to your personal needs. This class is all substance and no flash so be prepared. I’ve been at this studio almost a year now and this is pretty much where I’m at right now. Never have I ever been more aware of myself, and it’s just gonna keep getting clearer.

Although I am only a first year student at the Wayne Dvorak Acting Studio, I am thrilled that my acting skills have greatly improved. I feel more natural and «real» in front of an audience– I am learning to respond to every moment and connection in a scene. Currently, we are developing our emotional range and ability to create an emotionally connected fantasy. Wayne’s program covers all the levels of the Meisner technique, and he moves at a suitable pace for each individual. Wayne is an incredibly established and well respected teacher! This class is amazing!

I love his class, it was a great find. Although it is a drive for me its worth it. The first thing I asked him was I don’t want to be made to feel stupid because I know NOTHING about acting. After 2 months of classes he has lived up to his word. It’s a very open and comfortable learning environment. If anything I have learned more about myself and opening up, instead of looking down and judging myself. I would recommend his beginner class to anyone who is looking for a judgment free, comfortable class! The Meisner technique has helped me to build a foundation in my acting and is actually a beneficial approach for me. He provides you with the tools to learn this technique and makes you feel confident in yourself which will ultimately reflect in your acting! Great find!

I want to set the record straight. Having been in Wayne’s class for 2 years, I have seen myself grow in leaps and bounds. Not only as an actor, but as a person. Meisner Technique is NOT for the faint of heart. You have to actually DO the work. If you are serious about your career as an actor, take with Wayne. If you are lazy and are hoping for overnight success, go back to waiting tables at the pizza joint. It’ll never happen. No pain, no gain, ya know? BTW, Wayne does NOT promote porn. What kind of person writes that BS here?

Wayne is Top Notch and that’s real talk!
When I started my search for an acting teacher I wanted to make sure I would be enthusiastic about coming to class. Really who wants to sit anywhere for 3 hours w/​o a break studying anything? I did audit a few classes in the LA/​Hollywood area but I knew right away this was the class for me.
When you audit, he sits down with you 30 min. before class and explains to you what he does, the technique he teaches, and what we will prob. see in the class. I went to other classes and I didn’t know what the heck they were doing. He involves you in the breathing exercises (which you may feel very foolish doing at first) and then you stay quiet as the class goes on. You can ask questions during certain times though and after the class is over, Wayne will call you the next day to go over some things. That’s the audit process.
The Class: Meisner Technique
First off, Wayne is a hard teacher, which mean he will push you to your best potential. If you are shy get over it and if you think you are a hot shot, get over that as well. Wayne pulls truth and realness out of you. When I first started I was somewhat apprehensive about showing how I really felt about things and as I was told I was «theatrically» showing emotions and to just be myself.
Second, the class is small. i don’t think he has more than 12 ppl in a class and everyone goes up twice EACH CLASS! Even if you don’t want to, lol. This means you are always working on the craft.
Third, we do exercises and scenes. One thing I like about this is he will let you complete what you are suppose to do then talk about it after. No interruptions while you are doing something. Unless he really doesn’t get it but that will come later.
The bottom line is if you are serious about acting, this class is for you. If you work hard you will definitely see the growth within a few months. I have grown in my confidence about my work and ability to reach the emotion at hand truthfully and moment by moment. The program is a two year program, class is 1 nite a wk for 3 hours, you need 2 rehearsals outside of class and this is the min. but it’s worth it. I am about to start the second year and I have no regrets.

Wayne’s class is for actors who take the craft and themselves seriously. The first year of the Meisner technique, as taught by Wayne, is an exiting revelation that equips the student with an awareness of their own emotional repertoire, and then teaches them how to immediately access it deeply and honestly. In the second year, the focus turns to the nitty gritty of acting work; scene study, script analysis, «character» work, and finding choices for the character so that you, the actor, can bring to bear those emotional realities you honed in the first year. The first two years of Wayne’s training are a serious, vastly rewarding challenge both personally and professionally. After those two years an actor can expect to be and feel like a bone fide craftsman in the art. Which comes in handy in the Professional level class, where you have repeated face to face «show off» time in front of Casting Directors and Agents in the interests of advancing yourself into the world of paid gigs. It is no understatement to say that Wayne’s instruction and mentorship made me into the real deal. I am proud to have made it through and confident with any script in my hands.
