I love this place!!! Amazing food, great staff!
I’ve been there four or five times and I am always impressed with this place!

I don’t know if the place really exists. Maybe this is just some kind of urban joke or something. I drove around Mount Washington, then I walked out on a very narrow dirt road. All of which lead me nowhere. I kept envisioning people running out with saws… Chasing me around the wooded land and using me for their signature burger.
I wonder how many other people have made the same mistake.

I read the reviews, and saw the pictures, so I thought I’d give it a try. It brought me to the top of a mountain, and on a road that made me fear for my life. I hope this is a real place, but I haven’t been convinced yet. I just looked like a fool driving there, and peed a little trying to get nowhere.

I haven’t left a review on Unilocal in maybe three years, but I had to for Vagabond Grillyard. Signature burger was crack. I can eat a lot and it left me satisfied. So delicious. Maybe the best burger I’ve had in LA.

Holy Shit, best burger ever, no really, ever!
We were out at some bar in Glendale that didnt have their own kitchen, they said «burgers are back in the alley». At first were like the alley? WTF? But got hungry and said what the hell.
LA is fully of $ 10 burgers, and most are just $ 3 burgers with a bloated price tag, but this place has the best friggen burger ever. Would pay $ 10 all day for these burgers.
I dont know what kind of vudu, spanish fly, funky spell they put over these burgers but they are insanely good. Its like food crack cocaine.
Only regret is that they dont have a physical location where we can go get our burger fix. And once you eat these freak of nature burgers, you just cant ever look at another burger the same.
If they delivered to Noho I’d go into chapter 13 ordering these things.

Vagabond catered my boyfriend’s birthday party in November.
It was a pretty sweet setup… they bring a couple of guys, all their food stuffs, and prepare made-​to-​order items at your house (or in your courtyard patio, in our case).
Hands down the big star of the night was the pulled pork and their signature burger was a close second. The portobello mushroom burger was a fabulous vegetarian option but I’d probably steer clear of the grilled cheese next time. The grill runs pretty hot and a few of the sandwiches (grilled cheese) came out a little too grilled for some guests tastes.
As for everything else? Superb! The potato and macaroni salad nicely complemented the sandwiches.
One thing to note is that size-​wise the sandwiches are not huge. They are about an inch smaller in diameter than you’d see in a regular brick and mortar establishment. They weren’t quite slider-​sized but you may want to consider this factor when planning for a crowd because there will be people that want more than one to satiate their appetite.
Overall, they were professional and responsive and we would hire them again.

From the perspective of a lucky consumer (not a catering client), Vagabond Grillyard was pretty good! The two-​person staff manning the station at the Crossfit/​Yoga session for Unilocal’s Passport to Glendale was pretty professional; they were friendly, efficient and open to conversation which was nice. And if that wasn’t good enough, their burger was bombnom.
I didn’t know what it was at first so I cheated and looked it up online but I’m pretty sure they served their Signature Burger, which consists of grass– fed dry– aged beef, homemade garlic cilantro aioli, sweet onion marmalade, sharp cheddar, and wild baby arugula, served on a Brioche bun. It was yummy in my tummy! Meaty, juicy patty sandwiched between soft sweet bread buns and complimented well with melted cheese, bitter greens and sweet sweet onions. Goodness, I just drooled.
Can’t wait to hopefully run into them again sometime in the future! :)

I’ve spent the month looking for caterers, and remembering Vagabond Grillyard fondly from a Unilocal event a year ago, I of course hunted them down to find out more information and to sample more of their wares.
Vagabond’s website is a bit lacking with the details on where to find them serving food on a regular day-​to-​day basis, but I found out that they’re at The Famous bar in Glendale M-​F, 5:30−10 pm. Even with this clue, I arrived at this location befuddled on where to find them. The bartender directed us all the way to the back of the bar, outdoors in the garage, where a lone cook was taking orders while grilling up burgers. They didn’t have pulled pork that night, so we ordered the Bacon Bleu Burger ($ 12) and the Midnight Burger ($ 13). We placed our order, told him where to find us in the bar, and off we went to wait for our taste test.
And yes — Vagabond Grillyard absolutely passed our taste test! Although I will preface this with the admission that burgers don’t frequently enter my pattern of consumption and thus I am not an authoritative expert on burger goodness, I will say that these are pretty good burgers. The Bacon Bleu was bold, delicious and flavorful. The Midnight had a more subdued taste in comparison, and was good, but in our view lost out to the Bacon Bleu. Burgers also came with a side of kettle chips in our choice of flavors.
Prices are reasonable and on par with any brick and mortar restaurant for a gourmet burger. Sandwiches can also be made into two sliders each at the same price for your catered event, and can be upgraded to grass-​fed beef at an additional charge. They also currently have some sides (salad/​coleslaw) and beer on their menu but it wasn’t particularly appealing to us.
And If you’re not looking for a caterer, Vagabond is definitely a hidden, unassuming treat hidden away in the back of the bar (and other bars, so I hear).

5 stars for wanting to try this place for a while and «bumping» into it at verdugo bar. I knew about it for a while but I was too lazy to track it down. Last night was the night! We got the signature burger and the bleu cheese bacon burger. Both were devoured in about 5 – 10 min. One took longer because he is a bonafide slow eater and even he quaffed it down like it was his last meal on earth. He says father’s office is still better but I’d wage differently.
Cant wait to «bump» into them again.

Tasty burgers and excellent service! Vagabond Grillyard catered my 100 guest wedding and I am still getting rave reviews from my friends and family about how good the food was. They provided their awesome burgers made to order PLUS they even had a portobello mushroom burger option for all my vegetarian friends! The sides were home-​made pickles, olives and some fantastic salads. The groom and I even snuck away from the party to eat in order to be sure to partake in the yummy goodness. In all honesty we had originally wanted the In-​N-​Out truck for our wedding, but I am soooooo glad their truck couldn’t fit our venue. The burgers are juicier and for the same price as In-​N-​Out we had way more options.

I experienced Vagabond Grillyard when they were serving burgers out the backside of The Famous, the bar across the street from the Americana in Glendale. The owner said that they were possibly going to setup shop there, permanently.
I had a burger called the «Midnight”-something, and the owner commented that it was the burger that they usually make for themselves, and that it’s only a temporary item on their menu.
I’m so glad I ordered it… it was freaking delicious. So freaking delicious. Enough to make me go back to The Famous just so that I can try to convince them to make it for me again.

Thank you for the referral Kaite B to use the Vagabond Grillyard to cater my work retreat. They had a challenge ahead of them with making 4 kinds of burgers, cooked differently and all within an hour, Bravo!!! Yes some of my fellow coworkers complained about the wait. This is NOT fast food. this is delicious food made well an after they received their burgers, heard nothing but compliments about the food, how professional these men where and how well they fed us under pressure and everyone noticed Tro burger-​master made these burgers correctly and with love. yeah. I’ll say love. You can just tell they love what they do and want and do put out a good product. My program director is already talking about using them next year. Luckily I don’t have to wait that long I can see them at The Famous or the Verdugo bar.

The signature burger is superb. Better than my home-​made I must admit. I had to ask him, What’s in this? Is it Pixie meat? Elk, buffalo? so flavorful. It’s a blend of three cuts of beef, Tri tip sirloin and chuck, I think he said. Each one aged for a different length of time.
They’re on my short list for the best burger in Los Angeles…

Not only do these guys make events more memorable and delicious, they bring that same meaty magic to booze-​only bars. Find them slinging burgers and pulled pork sandwiches (and grilled cheese for you anti-​carnivore types) at The Famous, Verdugo, Eagle Rock Brewery and Page 71 Lounge, to name a few. Sadly, they don’t have a storefront so you’ll have to track them down like a food truck, but they make it pretty easy since they’re in one spot, as opposed to their wheeled brethren who provide minute-​by-​minute schedule updates.
I’ve never once looked like a lady devouring their goods, nor do I feel ashamed about it. Everything’s made on the spot (minus the pulled pork which is just reheated on the grill after a hot and heavy pre-​rub/​slow cook), everything is fresh, and they’ve got some secret sauce up their sleeves that makes each bite super rich with flavor. The caramelized onions are a nice touch, as is the chewy brioche bun, and the size; they don’t skimp on anything. It’s the little details they thrive on that make the handheld meals so juicy. I recently had the bacon bleu burger and it didn’t stand a chance. It was like that Nick Cage movie, Gone in 60 Seconds, but a billion times better.
You’ll need to follow them on FB or Twitter to keep track of ‘em, but stalker status never tasted so good.

Okay, so I’m at The Famous in Glendale with some friends when I see through the back hallway a couple of guys, 1 tent and a burger menu in chalk.
I walk near, order 1 of everything (my favorite burger was the signature) and they were all awesome. Blue Cheese Bacon and Pulled Pork were on point. Dry aged beef, daily baked brioche buns and house made aioli.
Tasty, fresh, simple and hot off the grill.
These guys do catering in Los Angeles as well.

The hype is definitely worth it the moment you bite into one of their burgers! Succulent, flavorful, and definitely delicious does not sum the credit that is due. The Burgers prepared by Vagabond melt in your mouth. Literally, every time I eat one of their burgers i feel as though I’m in a trance, consumed by the sheer quality and technique. Being big food buffs, these guys know burgers and know all the proper ingredients to use resulting in a true masterpiece.
Do yourself a favor, check their schedule to see when they will be in town next!

I got a chance to sample these guys at yesterday’s Unilocal Gets Physical Event in South Pasadena at the Arroyo Seco Raquet club.
They were serving up their Signature Sliders (Grass-​fed 21-​day Dry-​Aged Beef, homemade garlic cilantro aioli, sweet onion marmalade, sharp cheddar, wild baby arugula, served on a Brioche Bun). DELICIOUS. My boyfriend and I were able to get 2 sliders. Juicy, succulent meat, without any of the toppings overpowering one another.
We are slider lovers and we’ve decided that we’re going to have to try more things from here!

I LOVE pulled pork. More than any other kind of pork… except bacon. And these guys put both on one sandwich??? Yes please!
I had their pulled pork sandwiches with BACON and sriracha cole slaw at Verdugo Bar a couple times and they are truly phenomenal. The first time I had it, I didn’t think it could get any better… yet somehow, they managed to improve their already delicious sandwich and make it even better (MORE BACON! and fried onions… drool). I may or may not have eaten more than one sandwich…
Oh wait… did I mention corn bread? Yeah, they serve that with their sandwiches, too. So sweet and… corny. ;)
I keep hearing that their burgers are to die for and I can’t wait to try them. This little catering company is off to a great start… I can’t wait to see what else they can come up with. :)

Heard of these fellas through a friend of mine, and being a burger connoisseur I decided to give them a try while they were at page 71 in studio city on tuesday nights. Swell guys; have a passion for taste and presentation. Burgers were juicy, buns were fresh. Made me decide to try out their pulled pork, ended up being crisp and succulant; full of flavor. If you’re in the area, definitely try them out at $ 10 a burger it competes with the quality of LA’s prestigious burger joints.
