History

Established in 2007.

University Sitters began in Santa Barbara as a babysitting service and has grown into a Southern California full domestic agency, providing babysitters on call, full-​time and part-​time nannies, housekeepers, caregivers, assistants and more.

Kasey and Rebecca E.

Business Owner

Becka and Kasey, co-​founders of University Sitters, started the company 2007. The focus is on placing educated child care providers with families in need.

The two are vastly interested and entertained by children and appreciate sitters who can provide more than just care to children. It is our mission to find sitters who also help with school work, extra curricular interests, and who are positive role models in the life of the children.

Becka volunteers her free time with families fostering children and with Chrysalis teaching computer literacy. Kasey spends all her free time with her niece and nephew.

Billing practices are shady and even though you are presented with a final bill, they return again and again with additional charges. Naturally, overcharges are charged back by the credit card company unless they can prove they are owed the money. US was not able to prove anything and now are resorting to extortion-​like practices to collect on bad bills. They threaten to contact their «service provider» if you disagree with their messy and unprofessional bookkeeping practices. There are no timeslips of written agreements of any transactions and of course they take advantage of parents by in this way by billing months after the initial service was rendered. In my case, I was paid in full and they still came after me with additional fictional bills in order to extricate any additional funds once you’ve forgotten about the initial service. Here is where it’s helpful to have an employment attorney who can sort this nonsense out and close the lid on their threats and harassing emails.
I would recommend their sitter but the management team needs to find job training in another field altogether, especially one which does not require customer service or general organization.

I had set up a date for babysitters to help out while we were on vacation in LA over one month in advance. They called and verified the date a couple weeks ahead, but the day of, they failed to show up. When I called, they did rush to find a replacement that was two hours late. This caused me to miss my plans. I still decided to use the sitter and relax at the location. However, the sitter didn’t know how to calm a baby. I had to put the baby to sleep, and later at night (around 11pm) when the baby woke, the sitter had my baby out of his room, tickling or playing with him, and lights on.

University Sitters also covers the San Diego area. 5 stars University Sitters. This was my first time actually using University Sitters. I had contacted them before and they answered all of my questions personally calling and emailing me, but I didn’t use them them due to a schedule change.
Setting up the appointment was easy, even at the last minute. The sitter was wonderful in so many ways. She was attentive, handled all of the details (a lot of details) superbly, communicated well, and most importantly our girls loved her. Our kids mentioned that they liked her even more than our regular sitter who we have had for years and who gets along with the kids very well. We were surprised in the best way possible. We will most definitely be using them again and requesting the sitter we had.
One Unilocaler mentioned the fees. I do not mind paying fees for excellent service and consider it a bargain for the peace of mind knowing my kids are well taken care of.

I’ve been employed by University Sitters for the past year. I must say, the service has really kept me afloat while in nursing school! This job is extremely flexible and the pay is above average. With the screening and interview process, Becka and Kasey really work to make sure that the sitters they choose to employ are educated, practicing safety, and dedicated to servicing children and their families while still remembering to HAVE FUN! Most jobs are on-​call, but I have also gotten to know some awesome families that consistently book me. I’m proud to have worked for University Sitters, it’s great work experience and also a world of random connections! If anyone is looking for supplemental income or even a full time nanny position, I’d definitely trust Becka and Kasey with job placement!

I’ve used Becka and her team to help find nanny/​babysitting for my newborn daughter. I think they do an excellent job. My experience has been overwhelmingly positive. They’re thorough, quickly respond to questions and concerns, and made us feel very comfortable with the process. And the 2 babysitters they found for us were great! They’ve both been with us for the past 4 months.
We’ve needed two since our needs are very part time so scheduling becomes a bit trickier, but they’ve been very helpful and easy with that as well. Both were background checked by University Sitters and had to do a baby CPR class. We never had a problem with lateness or confusion on fees, etc. I would definitely use them again, and in fact, I did. When I was looking for an assistant for my business one of our babysitters recommended we contact University Sitters to see if they could find a placement. Their rates are extremely competitive for permanent placement and they found us an excellent hire. Becka is very sharp and savvy about connecting people that are a good fit.

This service has become a part of my family and life. As a single mother to 10 year old boy/​girl twins, it is so incredibly comforting to know that I have quality, reliable, extremely knowledgeable, educated, impressive and really just LOVELY help at my fingertips — day or night. I can’t say enough good things about this company and the women that own it. Kasey not only takes the time to screen out every single baby sitter (we’ve had about 4 or 5 different ones over the course of two years and every single one is impressive; I have extremely high standards regarding who watches my children!) but she also takes the time to cater to my needs and last minute requests. I wouldn’t be able to work without this service AND sleep well at night knowing my children are going to be properly cared for in my absence. It’s the best experience I’ve ever had and I’ve had a nanny/​help since the birth of my children. It’s nice to have a variety of such of educated sitters readily available. University Sitters is the best babysitting service I have ever used. Signing up for the service is easy and booking a sitters takes just a minute. More importantly, the service connected us with 3 really great sitters to watch over my son and daughter.
The women that run University Sitters are extremely personable and friendly. I pretty much instantly felt comfortable with them. They were very happy to engage in dialogue and addressed my needs as a parent. I was extremely impressed with their personable demeanor, genuine interest in pairing me and my son with a perfect sitter, and appreciation for kids. It is obvious they love their work.
We’ve had two different women (Tasha and Jessie) and one young man sit for us on several occasions and we’ve only had fantastic things to say about all three. Without hesitation I’d say they are the best sitters I’ve ever hired. They are caring, smart, ambitious, and fun people that are great with kids. Along with having outgoing personalities, they always make sure my kids get their homework done and are in bed on time. And, my kids love all of the sitters, which makes the whole experience much more enjoyable.

What I understand is that the rates are higher than if we found a sitter on our own, but I was happy to pay to not have to deal with finding one on my own while trying to get to the hospital at the same time. After having had bad luck with several baysitting services, I contacted University Sitters on the recommendation of a friend who has very high standards. What a great lead! University Sitters is outstanding in all respects.
Booking a sitter is fast and easy, even with late notice. Every sitter I have used has been wonderful. They have been punctual, capable, kind, and intelligent. In addition to being excellent caregivers, the sitters have been excellent role models for my daughter. She even looks forward to my business dinners and date nights so she can spend time with the sitters.

I had the opportunity to try University Sitters again, and my experience this time was completely different than it was the last time. Our sitter Kristin was awesome AND ON TIME! It all came together kind of last minute and they still were able to provide me with a sitter. My daughter said she wanted her to come back to the house and watch her again! It’s been a few years and appears that many of the kinks have been worked out which I am very pleased about, so that we can have a sitting service. We don’t have any family near by so having a sitter we can call will be very handy!
