U-Haul Moving & Storage at Fletcher Dr

At first I was like: this is great! The van is so cheap ($ 40 total) and it fits so much stuff (I’ll only have to make 2 trips). Famous last words.
I purchase insurance for $ 10, just in case, but what could go wrong? Well driving that huge thing is hard and I scratched the side going through some bushes by the side of the road. Turns out the fine print says my insurance only covers $ 150 of damage and I pay the rest. They assessed the scratch at $ 300 so I ended up paying $ 190 to rent the van for one day.
Couldda wouldda shouldda just spent another $ 50 to hire professional movers with a truck to get the job done in 3 hours and not have to lift a finger.
The employee was really nice about it but then the manager showed up and was a total asshole about it «why’d you have to go and scratch my new van?» Then was condescending toward his employee «I know you wanted to play nice with her but there going to have to do a lot of work to repair this thing.» (We are talking about a moving van, not a luxury vehicle). And will that money really go to repairing that scratch? You’re guess is as good as mine because it’s probably the same guess.

I enjoyed my experience and plan to be a repeat customer. I made an appointment for noon, right when I pulled-​in, the staff was ready to begin working. The day before, I was quoted around $ 220 as a final, out-​the-​door price for a hitch. This included electrical which is really what you need if you plan on towing trailers from your truck (not small stuff like bike racks).
The manager immediately went to work on my truck and finished 90 minutes later. He also asked if I wanted a ball mount, I even suggested I needed a hitch– lock because I park my truck in seedy areas. He made a suggestion and soon I was out the door. A huge plus I noticed was they he even gave me a small discount because electrical was already set-​up on my truck — that was extremely honest. U-​Haul, as a whole, has a bad rap in the truck/​towing world, but I found the staff very knowledgeable and honest. I would highly recommend this U-​Haul to any friends and family.

Made an appointment for a tow hitch installation a month in advance via the website. Got a call a couple days later to confirm a time, guy on the phone was very nice, and he said it’d take about an hour and I could wait there.
Now, today, I show up at 10am for my appointment. The workers there, a couple of apathetic girls, say my appointment is for tomorrow at 11am, while I am at work. I show them the email confirmation with today’s date and 10am. Next, they tell me the parts are not in. That’s surprising, since they had a month to order the parts, and I never got a phone call telling me they needed to reschedule because parts weren’t in. After some sleuthing on their part, they find out the parts are in, they just weren’t received.
Okay, so now we have that all figured out, I can get this installation now, right? Oh no, wrong, someone else is getting an installation at that very moment (at the same time as my actual appointment), and it will take several hours. I’m asked if I can come back later in the day, when I have other plans, and also told that my installation will take several hours as well because of the wiring, which the original appointment maker did not tell me. So I got a refund and got out of there, so I can make an appointment in several weeks at another U-​haul location which will probably screw this up too. It’ll be cutting it pretty damn close to my travel plans.
I was given the manager’s cell phone number, where I left a message, and haven’t received a call back, so who knows if it’s even real. I tried to leave a review on the U-​haul website for their location, but even when logging in with my order number, oh, there’s no way to leave a review. No wonder this location has 4.5 stars on their site, they probably only accept good reviews. Submitted a support request there, let’s see how that goes.
Anyway, TLDR: Don’t bother making an appointment here to get a tow hitch installed if you actually want it done.

I had to write this review only to commend Frank on his excellent customer service.
Picked up a truck here and the inside paperwork showed the gas gauge at ½ tank. When I met Frank outside to confirm the gas and mileage, the gas was in fact at ³⁄₈ tank. Frank confirmed and initialed my receipt.
Needless to say when I got my bill, I was initially charged the difference in fuel to bring the gas up from ³⁄₈ to ½. I called Uhaul and Frank remembered me by name. He followed up with me numerous times this morning to get the required information, and vouched to the drop-​off location on my behalf. Within just a few quick hours, I received an email confirming that gas charge was refunded, followed by a phone call from Frank to confirm. He was excellent and provided exactly the type of service I would expect from any company. This will continue to keep Uhaul as my go-​to truck company!

I visited this location without a reservation. The service was quick, convenient, and friendly.

The good:
So I had to move (again) and my plans changed last minute, so I called to see if I could pick up a U-​Haul last minute to jump start my moving process. I called a little after 6pm and they said if I could make it by 6:45, I could pick up the size I wanted that evening. At 6:45 I walked into the office, filled out paperwork and walked back out with keys at 6:50. I was also able to leave my car parked on the street nearby with paying a meter or worrying about a district permit. Overall, this was a great experience.
The bad:
So when you rent from U-​Haul, you estimate your mileage right then and they charge you the actual amount once you return the vehicle. My mileage estimate was 40 miles and my actual usage was 41. Not bad, right? Right, except that when I got my email receipt, it said I was being charged for 141 miles. Hell no.
The lesson:
This is why I always always always take a picture of the odometer and gas gauge when I pick up and drop off any vehicle I rent. You should do this too. I called the store and asked for a manager. The manager was out, but the guy who answered heard me out and was able to refund me the difference. He was nice and apologetic, so I’m only bringing this review down to 3 stars. This is the second time a Uhaul location has tried to charge me for an extra 100 miles exactly. Seems strange, right? Could be an honest mistake, but it’s an expensive one.
I would rent from here again, and I’m sure I’ll be behind the wheel of many more Uhauls in my life. But I will be documenting my miles/​gas usage every time. Trust.

Can’t believe all the haters. Uhaul always has my truck, the prices are cheap and they get my moves handled. Unlike rental car companies, the post office and the DMV this is one business model I like.

This place sucks, I live in the area and have to rent a truck for work several times a year. Everytime they act like they are doing me a favor. I am always made to feel unwelcome. Today was the last straw. I am going to the Hollywood location from know on. I highly suggest that everyone avoid this place. Maybe then uhaul corporate will fire the fools that work there. It’s always the same mean people. I have done my part in warning you, it will be a bad experience if you go to this location

Reserved a 1 way 5×9 open trailer with ramp so I can move my motorcycle to Monterey. Now today, 1 day before my move, they call and tell me, unfortunately we won’t have your trailer available at your preferred location and you will have to drive ½ way across town to pick it up in the «hood». Preferred location? You mean where I went to reserve it? Just lovely. Especially after they said we will see you on 6÷1÷14. Kinda implies that I would go to my local branch. Call them back and ask why and get bull crap story that basically made no sense at all. Now I have to go to the «hood» just before I move to paradise. Now I’ll spell it write. Fuck these damn assholes. I work for u-​haul when I was a kid and we never screwed people like this. Good thing I keep my gun when «Beverly Hills Moving and Storage» aka «Allied» came for the bulk of my stuff. BTW, they were on time, friendly and did not damage any item or my walls. They are recommended. I called uhaul and asked for discount for their screw up and the basically said «get bent» in no uncertain terms.
I just wish I could rate them a zero.

People love to hate on U-​haul but not all U-​haul locations are created equal. I’ve rented two trucks from this location over 3 years and I’ve been satisfied both times. The staff were friendly, the line moved quickly and they had the correct truck based on my online reservation.
I recommend getting as much insurance as you can get from u-haul.Should anything happen to the truck, you’re covered.

Propane is $ 3.69 per gallon. A typical BBQ tank costs about $ 19.30. Which was $ 3 cheaper than the gas station.

First, we reserved a 20′ truck a week in advance. When the day came, they only had a 26′ truck or a 17′ truck, so we opted for the bigger one. After driving 5 miles total, we filled it up to the level we picked it up at, and returned it with the night drop.
The following morning, we get a call stating the charges to our card, they had decided that we’d driven 12 miles, had used 7 gallons of gas, (which means their rental truck gets 0.58 mpg?) and not filled it up to the appropriate line, which means a $ 30 fee, PLUS $ 5/​gallon.
If you decide to use this Uhaul location, which I highly advise you not to do, at least DO NOT use the night drop off.

My buddy rented a U-​Haul from here when he needed to pick up a couch.
The U-​Haul van we got was the small one and needless to say it sucked.
We accepted it with a dirty and foul smelling cargo bay\, and the passenger seat door was missing its handle and left sharp edges.
Customer service was decent, Nothing above and beyond, and nothing subpar. People where friendly and the store room has plenty of moving supplies.
id give this a 3 –star but the quality of the rental i recieved and the the smell the cargo bay deserves this 1 – 2 star rating.

This place has the worst customer service and storage facility has holes on the roof so when it rains can damage your precious items even though you have insurance it takes forever just to get reimbursed what a total failure of a business… also has shady people always wondering the facility
