TWILL is a cooperative of Ivy league educated women dedicated to continuous learning and to the building and adaptation of creative solutions to the individual needs of students. We are proud to have developed friendships with many of the families we have worked with and to have made a difference in both the levels of motivation and achievement of our students.

Meet the Business Owner

Kwana and Kim S.

Business Owner

Kwana Martinez is a graduate of Laurel School for Girls, Vassar (BA) and Harvard (MFA). For over a decade, Kwana has taught in classrooms and privately coached students in New York, Boston, and LA, with a focus on English, literature, poetry, writing, and public speaking. In LA, she has tutored and trained new tutors for several prominent test prep companies in addition to her considerable work creating and teaching supplemental writing and arts programs for NPOs and after school programs.

Kim Swennen received her BA from Yale and her MA from London’s Central School of Speech and Drama, concentrating on Shakespeare in performance. For over nine years, Kim has worked privately and for a number of prestigious firms — in New Haven, London, and now LA — as tutor, classroom instructor, and new-​tutor trainer. She has also contributed in the development of new educational practice materials, and in the summers she teaches mathematics at the Summer Institute for the Gifted at UCLA.
