History

Established in 2014.

Timewarp Records in Mar Vista, CA is at the center of music, art, life, and culture on Los Angeles’ Westside. Founded in 2014 by the owner of Timewarp Music (named Best Music Store in Los Angeles, LA Weekly 2014), Timewarp Records was created in response to the need for a community based hub for music in all it’s formats. The location for Timewarp Records was no accident, the building is the former home of the legendary Record Rover. Timewarp is a small mom and pop type business operated by real people who are deeply rooted within our community. We’d love to meet you, stop by to check out the store or to just say Hello!

Meet the Manager

David A.

Manager

David Arnson is not only Timewarp’s Living Music Encyclopedia but also a Rock N Roll hero in his own mind. His record store experience surpasses most; starting out at Olssen’s Records in his hometown of Washington, D.C., Insect Surfer Dave (as he refers to himself) evolved briefly into Rhino Records before morphing into Amoeba Records and ultimately entered the Timewarp! When he’s not scrutinizing vinyl for surface noises, you can find Insect Dave headlining any number of venues with The Insect Surfers (Planet Earth’s Longest Running Modern Surf Band est. 1979), or paying tribute to Iggy and The Stooges in his tribute band Raw Power Rangers (featuring Ex-​Germs drummer Don Bolles).
