Found my neighborhood dive bar! Small nicely decorated spot with a young crowd. Free entrée(very yummy) when I stopped by early on a Thursday night. Prices are average. No beer on tap. Will come again whenever I need a quick drink after work.

Place is nice, prices are good. Very bad customer service. It took about 15 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me. Then another 30 to get my drinks. Apparently they kept forgetting about my order.

Came on a Friday night but they had a $ 5 cover charge? «We need to make some money somehow», ridiculous. You will think when you’re outside it would be great but once you go inside its a different story, needs lots of work. Michelada’s are okey. The music is good. They have piles of mess in the corners, the back corner is so dark it needs lights. But I won’t be coming again. Save your money! They need to get rid of the cover charge.

My friend and I stopped in after dinner for a nightcap… NEO is the nicest bartender ever! If those walls could talk… apparently this has been a local waterhole since before the 70s… very, very laid back, come as you are kinda place. The Micheladas are decently priced and equally savory and refreshing… this is our third time here.

It’s aight. Came here to see band. Good cover band with Spanish rock, alternative, Cumbrians, and even a bit of corridos. $ 5 cover… I guess, $ 7 beers in the hood, im down I guess. Wouldn’t be so bad if the bar tender actually cared about servicing you. They do serve mixed drinks now but still, at least turn to the bar and stop turning your back on patrons. This place could be so much better if the service was there. Still 3 stars cause I like the band and got my drink on!

Well, they charge a hefty cover just to get in. Once you get in, you pay a pretty penny for mediocre mixed drinks. Their restrooms are nice

Amazing! My first time coming to this bar and I must say I had the most wonderful experience ever; I will definitely be back. The atmosphere was good as well as for the micheladas BOMB the BEST ones I’ve tried and had. The owner is such a sweetheart. Come here and I guarantee you will have a great experience. You feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. LOVEDIT. Highly recommend.

Really?! Cover charge on a Friday at 9pm when we clearly saw it was empty. Not a good way to welcome FIRSTTIMELOCAL customers. Especially when we were not there to see a band, but to feel the vibe of the bar & have a few beers. Thank goodness the other local bars were very welcoming & offered what we were looking for. That being said if they’re attempting to be like a local venue for bands, then they should advertise it that way. It’s not a bar it’s more of a club.

Seriously, if we hadn’t been there to celebrate my friends birthday(there was about 12 of us) that whole place would have been empty! That $ 5 cover charge was a joke! My friend chose to celebrate her birthday at the M bar. Seeing that it was close to my hood, I was down. First of all, if you have an iPhone don’t bother trying to Google Map or Waze the location because Siri will send you to the shadiest part of East Los and say you have arrived at your destination. Just know it’s across the street from the ever so popular East Side Luve. My boyfriend and I arrived around 10 pm and found parking right in front of the place. The«bouncer”/“cashier» took our $ 5 and let us in. Inside all I saw was… my friends. Literally there was no one else there. I asked my girl if she had shut down the place for her birthday but no she hadn’t. I didn’t mind having the whole place to ourselves. It reminded me of a college reunion or something cause all we did was catch up with each other while sipping on gin and juice… just kidding they don’t have all that. Only wine and beer. So we sipped on Micheladas and Sangria and the occasional vodka tonic. The bartender was nice, the Micheladas were very good but it was like drinking water. I didn’t as much as feel them even after drinking 4 of them. I switched over to the Sangria which was poured in wine glass full of ice. Again, good but didn’t feel a pinch. Maybe I am just an alcoholic with high tolerance. Who knows. At around 11 pm a band went on stage to play. I couldn’t tell if the girl was singing in Spanish or English but they were cool I guess. At this point there were about 3 other people in the bar as well, I am guessing they were friends with the band. We ended up leaving soon after. Overall, the place is nice, there is really no ambiance, the drinks were good and inexpensive and I had a blast because I do so anywhere I go. Check it out if you want a very low key night.

This review is for the day I came here during the LA Taco Festival. I feel I need to make this disclaimer because when I walked in, I kind of got the feeling that this wasn’t the usual clientele of this place. I’ve seen this place right across from Eastside Luv and it always struck my curiosity. So I checked it out. Pretty cool place. Beers were 6 bucks, in a bottle, they have liquor too. No draft if I recall correctly. THey have a kitchen as well. There’s a smoking patio, plenty of space inside. I have to come back again on a regular night to get the actual feel for this place.

I stopped in here during LA Taco fest. The bartender recommended the michelada and it was great and refreshing. I would have stayed longer but they cranked up the music so loud that I was screaming to talk to my friend that was sitting next to me. If you are in the area definitely stop in and try their micheladas.

I’ve been to this place twice. They specialize in a homemade Sangria brew and Micheladas. First time I was here, my friend who used to DJ at the place, invited me and I just hung out at the bar sipping a very tasty Sangria brew. The place is small but there is room for people to dance if so inclined. Inside is very modern with wooden installments in the walls behind the bar and really cool car hood art featuring day of the dead designs, and other Latin-inspired art. It’s very unique. There weren’t many people in here both of the times I was here. The second time I came here, it was my last night in L.A. and my best friend and I met a very nice bartender who hooked us up with two rounds of Micheladas. Those things were tasty and I find myself wanting to replicate the drink any chance I get. The bartender told us that it took them two months to come up with the Michelada recipe. What makes it special is that it includes, lemon, a saladito, and some kind of chile powder, with a salt and chile lined rim. This drink is excellent. Really, this drink it was made me a fan of this bar, plus its locality, the bartender, and the bar’s diversity. A few nights before coming to this place, my friend invited me to come here for comedy night. The fact that this place includes diverse DJ’s, comedy night, and bands makes it unique and there wasn’t a cover. It was probably because there wasn’t anything going on that night. It’s a really cool place to have in East L.A. and as a former resident of the city, I am proud that this place exists on 1st street.

I have been here a few times after having such a hard time getting into Eastside Luv across the street and had a blast! It’s definitely becoming more and more popular because at first it was lonely from time to time. I was here this past Friday and there was a $ 5 cover charge but I think it was because of the Day of the Dead festival(since I’ve never paid to get into here). i had a great time. The DJ wasn’t really a DJ but he was holding his own with the music. We asked him to put cumbias to get the crowd going and he did. There is a smoking area in the back and two bathrooms for either male or females. The crowd was great and overall, I had a great time.

BEWARE — Bands looking to book here. The«booker» pushed us 2 hours back– the roster is full of garage bands that take a half hour to set up and another 40 minutes to wander around after their set while their gear is on stage. The bartender was a nightmare, claiming to OWNTHEPLACE as an excuse to threaten bandmates into paying for drinks they didn’t order — and at one point turning to a Spanish-speaking member of the band and saying«this bar isn’t your f***ing hood MANG» to imply that my guitarist is Mexican(he’s from Spain) and that it somehow had CONSEQUENCES. It’s a joke«bar» and a joke venue. DONOTBOOKHERE.

Came here on a Thursday night, we tried their famous micheladas and«WOW» they were so good. This is favorite spot for micheladas for now until we find a new spot. Angel you did a great job with all of our drinks. Cons — music is too loud, feels like you are at a club instead of a bar.

Okay so thiS may be a bias review because I know the owners & staff… BUTSOWHAT!!! Super dope dive/lounge another slash/live music venue!!! They also have some kick culo homemade tequila here that will have you doing the stanky leg by yourself, the bartender here is a hilarious mofo he’ll have you laughing and drinking all night, this spots also a venue for local and not so local bands… I really dig that… some nights, punk, underground rap, mainstream, house, rock it’s never, the same ol shit, everyone is welcome with no judging here, and dont be scared of the area… Urban is good!!! Tonight its a reggae/rock(not ska…) group called Kali Daze performing, and another band named«Organic»(wonder what there about?) playing. Tomorrow its a Spanish hardcore rock band playing named Luz de Luna, should be interesting to say the least. Im gonna document the debauchery
