Oh no. How could u give this place a good review. Two small sandwiches and two cops of clam chowder for $ 35. Mine was the Longhorn. The beef was grizzly. We also ordered the pot roast. The thing was small, dry and the beef was all salt. Never will i come back here. Bad food. Bad value.

$ 30 for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks. Sodas are $ 2.75! Didn’t see that before ordering. I waited 25 minutes for this order. Food is very good, I just wasn’t expecting that long of a wait for 2 sandwiches when it wasn’t very crowded. Good quality food, make sure to get their chips! Taste homemade and are so delicious.

Los Angeles is absolutely stacked on good sammies(somewhat unlike my current city of Dallas unfortunately), and while I’m not sure I’d put The Carving Board on the same level as Bay Cities or Italia, the breadth of the menu and the quality of the sandwiches at The Carving Board makes it worth your time many times over. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Tucked into an otherwise nondescript strip mall of sorts The Carving Board might not grab your attention from the get-go, but the inside has a classy fast casual vibe that’s conducive to either a quick visit or a more lengthy stay. The sandwiches are made to order and take some time, but my party of three was served within maybe ten to fifteen minutes. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? If I have any complaint, it’s that the sandwiches at The Carving Board are pretty expensive. My «Bentley» was $ 14.00, which brought about some sticker shock, but once I realized that this was a filet mignon sandwich that came with a side I was able to come back down to earth a bit. Other menu items are priced within a similar ballpark, and while the sandwiches themselves aren’t big, the side portions make it such that you’re full after a sandwich/side combo. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? My Bentley sandwich was very good, with tasty and well cooked filet mignon that meshed well with the mayo, caramelized onion, and baby spinach that was all brought together on an excellent ciabatta roll. There’s nothing I would improve here given that all the other sandwiches looked equally good, but of note was that my fries were especially weak, with both the standard and sweet potato varieties proving limp and flavorless. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? The Carving Board has a great variety of quality options, but I can’t say that it trumps some of the more established shops that I mentioned previously. No Star Granted.

This place makes a good sandwich. Perhaps not quite in line with the price tag, but good nonetheless. The service is extremely friendly and comforting, overall I had a very positive experience when I was here.

After having this sandwich & soup joint on my list for a long time, I was finally able to drop-in for lunch. Ended-up sampling a bunch of stuff between friends. Everything was great but the turkey chili, Midnight Snack sandwich, & the lemon coconut cookie definitely took center stage for me. Turkey Chili: great consistency, hearty but not heavy. Midnight Snack Sandwich: delicious toasted nine grain. Perfectly cooked egg(yolks…drool). Crispy bacon slices. Well sized but not overwhelming. Lemon Coconut Cookie: one of the best cookies I’ve ever had(yes, that’s a strong statement). Not too lemon-y, great texture. They are baked to order! Atmosphere: relaxed/casual but ‘higher-end’ sandwich joint(serving style is creative, staff super friendly), prices are super reasonable given quality of ingredients & vendors used. Definitely plan on going back to sample more off their menu…

Are you busy? Of course you are. Me too. Do you have a foodie rep to uphold? Of course you do. Me too. Are you willing to cheat to keep your cred? But of course, me too. So, when I tasted Carving Board’s Soup of the Month, Winter Squash(completely vegan minus the sage-hint-of-nutmeg crème fraiche) — butternut squash, honey, sage, pumpkin spice — I knew this was my Thanksgiving Day amuse-bouche. Assured I could buy in quantity the day before, I returned to do so with salivating taste memory and visions of serving it cold in shot glasses. Staff, not used to cheaters like me, helped determine how much to buy to serve four-six then the appropriate charge, which by the way I couldn’t have made it for(think ingredients, billable hours). At the last minute, due to the chill in yesterday’s air, I opted to serve this liquid pumpkin pie hot. It was a hit! Now, I could have kept my mouth shut, claimed it as my own, as I am capable of the like, but such goodness should be available to all and fortunately it is! During this frenetic holiday season, it is my intention to take a shortcut or two in order to enjoy the time I usually spend in the kitchen with the people who matter in my life… you can too!

ORDERTHIS: The Bentley. That was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. And with a price tag of 15 dollars, it might be the only time I’ll ever have it… Filet mignon with caramelized onions, baby spinach and crumbled blue cheese on a ciabatta roll with bacon mayonnaise. Heavenly. Everything else here is pretty delicious! The only thing I’d skip is the spaghetti meatballwich — it was very underwhelming. The extra sauce was necessary because the noodles felt gummy but dry. It’s a fun try, just to say you’ve had it. It’s here for a limited time, so splurge while you can. The Big Kahuna serves up ahi tuna with seaweed, tomatoes and onions on a brioche bun — way better than your usual burger. I liked the Asian fusion twist. I’ve never had seaweed in a burger before and was surprised by how good it goes together. The Wealthy Po’ Boy is also pretty good, made up of shrimp, garlic butter scampi sauce, spinach in an open faced ciabatta roll, topped with a crabcake. I don’t think this is worth the price but still really good. The crabcake was crunchy but thin so it was more dough than meat, and while the garlic butter scampi sauce tasted as wonderful as it smelled, the roll was served soggy. And still so many sandwiches left to go… can’t wait to try them all!

This place had a cool little vibe. I wish I had known that going in. I I asked my colleague for a place around our job in which I could run in, get something, and run out. I’m not big on fast food, so he suggested The Carving Board. Parking is horrendous at lunchtime. I had to circle once and ended up parking on the street. Once inside, the vibe changed. Everyone seemed comfortable, the wooden tables and iron back chairs seemed inviting, just the overall vibe seems like I wanted to stay. Alas, I looked at the menu to order to go. Everything looked good. They have sandwiches, hamburgers, soups, and salads. Looking around at other people’s plates, everything looked good and it looked like everyone was enjoying what they had ordered. I ended up getting a short rib grilled cheese with a side salad. My colleague had told me not to sleep on the Smore bar, but I wasn’t in for another thousand calories – no matter how good it tasted. The salad was delicious! Great vinaigrette! The grilled cheese short rib with grilled onions was also delicious. This is a great place that I will return to again.

Their food is solid, even though they put too many ingredients on a sandwich for my liking, and it’s always fresh. I have ordered from them half a dozen times or so where the wheels have pretty much fallen completely off the cart. While very friendly and pleasant, they are completely and totally disorganized. I’ve tried dealing with them a few times when I’ve been put on hold for upwards of 10 minutes, had calls disconnected, had faxed orders ignored, I could go on and on. I’ve questioned why a sandwich shop would open at 11:00? This gives them no time to prep or take orders in a timely way. I placed a large order today on the phone totaling$ 100. I got disconnected towards the end of the conversation for the 3rd time. It took me over 30 minutes of the phone to place an order for 7 sandwiches. Instead of calling back again, I just went to pick it up thinking I could add on some cookies once I got there. I was told cookies are baked to order, which is great, but doesn’t help me at all in this case as it takes 20 minutes. I’ve had enough with this place. No one’s food is worth this. Which is unfortunate because they have a good product.

Its Mediocre Monday again!!! I dropped by here after seeing The Carving Board on TV, and reading some trusted yfs reviews. TCB specializes in sandwiches, including their signature«The Bentley». It is located on Gateway at Barrington in West LA. My friend and I both ordered The Bentley($ 14.95 — Filet mignon, carmelized onions, blue cheese, bacon mayo & spinach on a ciabatta bun). The sandwich is served on a carving board and comes with homemade chips. I also ordered a green salad for $ 2 extra(a number of sides are available for $ 2 more). The combination of meat & toppings was genius. All of the items went well together, and the sturdy spinach maintained its crunch throughout. However, a major downside was there was hardly any meat for the price. In addition, the chips were kinda stale, and didn’t have much seasoning: 3 Stars on the sandwich(mainly due to the high price), 2 Stars on the chips. Secondarily, the salad was literally garden variety. It was all lettuce. Nonetheless, the price was good: 3 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, its cafeteria style. You order at the counter, you are given a whimsical marker, and your food is brought to your table. A nice upside is they serve cane sugar sodas: 3.5 Stars. On the other hand, the service was really good. The cashier/server was informative regarding the menu, and the food arrived quickly: 4 Stars. I’ll admit, TCB is better than Fat Sal’s in Westwood. However, I would not go out of my way to come here. Their signature sandwich was not that special for the price. I was planning on eating half, and saving the rest for later. I ended up eating the whole thing, and throwing the chips away.

I stopped by here for dessert after eating at OOPs Sushi which is next door. First of all the girl behind the counter was super friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed what looked link of like a lemon bar but was really a mix of a white chocolate and a crumb on top as well as some other flavors. It was really good. I am looking forward to trying one of their sandwiches.

Favorite thing about this place is the ambiance — décor was on point and I LOVE the wood themed order ID markers. Service was super friendly and great, even stopped to ask how my day was going which is always nice. I got a crab cake grilled cheese with a side salad. It was good, but nothing too amazing. I added some of the complimentary habanero lime hot sauce, which made it way more flavorful. Presentation was gold and I love the idea of serving on cutting boards and the rustic feel of everything in general. Pink lemonade was delicious! I’ll definitely be back to try more sandwiches :)

What a lovely little sandwich place that is both classy and casual. Randomly enough, I discovered The Carving Board on a segment of the Travel Channel on a Southwest flight. It looks like the one in the valley was the one featured but this one(and the shop in West Hollywood) look exactly the same. My husband and I had the French Dip and the Turkey Dinner sandwiches. My mind wasn’t blown by the french dip but it was still good; it may have been worthwhile to just get the Bentley. The turkey(pulled, not sliced) on the other hand was quite good with that homemade turkey taste. Topped with stuffing, caramelized onions, gravy, and fresh cranberries on toasted sourdough yielded a perfect sandwich. Sandwiches are between 10 – 14 dollars about and come with a side salad or potato chips. Other sides are an extra $ 2, which might make your lunch end up being closer to $ 20.

So I’ve been to this place several times now and always get the Bentley. It is so amazing! The lemonade is fantastic too and so are the chips! The girl working the front counter today was so sweet and very informative. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Shared the Bentley and the big kahuna This is a lunch that’s on the pricey side. Each sandwich comes with a side of potato chips or salad. OR you and +$ 2 for a premium side. Ex: kale pasta, coleslaw, soup, etc Each order is served on a wooden cutting board, hence the name Food was delicious, but I just don’t like paying that much for a sandwich Friend got a lemonade and said it wasn’t very good. Service is excellent. Easy parking lot.

During my first time at Carving Board, I decided to go with their recommendation and ordered the crown jewel of their sandwiches in the Bentley. Appropriately named because it is the class of luxury as it is a filet mignon hot sandwich with blue cheese, grilled onions, spinach, bacon on a ciabatta roll.($ 14) It was pretty good and it was served piping hot so you really got the luxurious juices in each bite. Tender steak but with all filet mignon you wish there was more. I like being served food on a carving board and I think that is a neat gimmick. Personally I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I liked it more than places like Mendocino Farms if I’m comparing like place with like prices. Another thing is because they just recently opened, they are really good about checking up on anything you need and making sure the sandwich is thoroughly satisfying. The owner is really friendly and I already saw they have some regulars coming in and that’s a sign they are doing something right. My only gripe being that because they serve on such a large carving board, the sandwich(already on the smaller side) feels that much smaller. I could see this being a regular in the lunch rotation with a large menu that I wouldn’t mind exploring more. Tip: All sandwiches come with chips or side salad but can upgrade sides for $ 2

Could not believe this joint was open late on a Saturday. Looked too much like one of those business-folk-only-during-lunch-hour-on-a-weekday kinda joints. Not so, dear Unilocalers! Was craving a tuna melt* but wouldn’t you know that’s the one thing this sandwich place doesn’t have; I settled for a grilled cheese instead. The mixture of cheeses was kra delish but the first couple a’ bites tasted like the bread was stale. But the second half tasted fine so not sure what was up with that. This joint’s homemade, chips, tho. Bloody hell. All potato chips should taste like this. The burgers and other hot sandwiches here are twice as expensive as my grilled cheese(as in, $ 12), so we’ll see how my future experiences work out. For now, with the super sweet employee who helped me and the very-chill minimalist REI décor, I’m perfectly fine to give this one another go. And probably another after that. *Dear David and Joab: Please consider bringing tuna melts to the menu. I promise this will be a favorite among your customers. You will, however, need to use Japanese Kewpie mayo, spring onions diced so fine they melt, crushed red pepper flakes, barely a whisper of Old Bay and fresh lemon juice for it to be as dynamic as my vision. But served cold with avocado or placed inside one of your grilled cheeses, gentlemen, c’mon, this is sandwich gold I’m giving you here. Please and thank you.

Bf has been dying to come here to try their special spaghetti meatball sandwich($ 13). The spaghetti is formed into a bun and fried, and sandwiches the meatballs, mozzarella cheese, and sauce. Also comes with a side of marinara to dip your sandwich in. It’s actually not as gigantic and gluttonous as I expected, but it is seriously messy. Bf was dripping in grease from eating it, but he loved it and said it totally lived up to his expectations and he had serious food coma from it afterwards. I opted for something healthier and got the Carving Salad($ 12) and added grilled chicken(+$ 3). The salad is served in a gigantic bowl and it’s amazing. Mixed lettuce, roasted red peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, sunflower seeds, avocados, red onions, and a big dollop of eggplant tapenade on top. The roasted red peppers and eggplant add so much flavor and all of the ingredients are really fresh. Plus they don’t skimp on the ingredients! Cabernet vinaigrette is amazing too. Added some sriracha(yes they have it here!) and it was perfect – flavorful and filling without leaving me feeling gross after. Pros: plenty of free parking in the lot, service is very nice and fast, and tons of both healthy and more gluttonous options. They also offer deep fried desserts.

I’m a big supporter of new spots and I’ve watched this place being built for the last few months. Today, I noticed it was open so in I went. Wow! I’m glad I did. I love a sandwich and the owner David does them up right. I went Turkey dinner and subbed in whole grain bread. A fantastic unit. No, a true got to have it, crave in the middle of the night I’m going right now kind of sandwich! Perfect turkey, grilled onions, a bit of cranberry all grilled with a bit of stuffing tucked down below it all. Here is the genius part, it comes with a side of thick rich gravy to dip in!!! Yeah, gravy. Big time touch. I got the side salad and that was fresh and substantial. Staff could not be nicer and parking is easy. The price is more than a normal sub shop, but you get what you pay for. The other units will get their due as soon as I come back and try them, but the Bentley looks like a winner as well. I will try them all. Well done!!!
