The Akademia Music Awards

I actually had a good time, I won an award and for me it felt good because as Indy artists trying to «get on» it’s good to have your work recognized in a positive way. The only reason it was not 5 stars was because leaving the event (2016 Gala Awards) the pickup location could have been more organized, it was Nathan until they finally gained control and people were cold, irritated and a inebriated. Overall great experience and I got to walk my first red carpet!

The Akademia team is focused on how radio of the future will be a key of success for indie artists around the globe. Gone are the days where traditional stations will play a song for the heck of it. It’s all corporate big bucks through iHeart Radio and other major companies. Indie artists need an alternative option to have their music heard! The team at Akademia is creating this new method to listen, market and share music with your fans around the world.

They really dont deserve a star. After some weirdo with a radio station email address left a message telling me i had a song he liked, what a coincidence, that same song just happens to win this award for some ridiculously undefinable subgenre. Then after a few days, i begin to receive e mails urging me to spend 107 bux on a plaque that shows Alicia Keys on the sample pic. BEWARE ALL MUSICIANS. THIS IS A FARCE, HOAX, SCAM, LIE, CHEAT…
if there was a zero stars theyd get that from me. Horrible people trying to scam artists with very little money, draining all hope from the young and the talented but less business oriented people…

I knew something wasn’t right when I received a message from «Josh at Power FM». I could not find any good info on Power FM (any time I looked them up, it would only take me to their home page, which seemed to do nothing) or any good ways to contact them. The second red flag was that «Josh» was only mentioning «CD 75, track 7», which was a random, poor-​quality warm-​up improv with no lyrics. I asked him if he had seen our demo, which was high-​quality with lyrics (the only release that was meant for anyone to hear). He did not answer my questions, only sending a second, generic email telling me to check out Akademia.
My second experience was that I received a message from «Felipe at Jam radio​.com» (Sao Paulo). She happened to be interested only in the same obscure, unusable improv. She sent me the exact same email — word for word as Josh did!!! When I asked about whether she had heard our demo and pointed out that this track was completely unusable, she gave the exact same reply as Josh — ignoring all questions and only referring me to Akademia.
This is beyond fishy and actually warrants an investigation. If there has been ANYONE who has actually had a good experience with these people, I would like to hear about it. I don’t mean some made-​up recognition — I mean actual experience, and hopefully not some token success story to base all of their business on.

Smells like scam. Received an email from a «program director» who really liked one of my songs. Asked me to email back so I did. Then I received a very generic email back from the «program director» recommending I hook up with The Academia Music Awards because they send lots of hits his way and «have the funding to get airtime on a network of stations.»
