Lets start with the owners; George, is a ruthless pervert with an abrasive personality who made me feel uncomfortable 99% of the time I lived here, as well as my roommate. While I lived here, a girl accused George of raping her. Not sure whether this was totally true, but I do know however, that they were definitely having sex. I only continued to live here out of desperation, and the fact that rent was very cheap compared to other sober livings. George also lies compulsively, about EVERYTHING. The examples are honestly too broad to even list. Nana, George’s wife, ignores his inappropriate behavior. For instance, when Nanas in a «bad mood»(which is often) she refuses to drug test the residents; instead, she has George do it.(THISIS A WOMENSSOBERLIVING). Just imagine for a second ladies, having a man(whom your supposed to feel safe with) observe you urinate. Is this even legal?! I could go on and on, but I won’t. Overall, I was able to stay sober here which I guess is the most important thing, but as a young woman in early recovery I did feel pretty uncomfortable quite often. Especially if you have issues with sex or relationships I would be paticulary weary of this place, and if being objectified by a strange balding man with a nosy disposition doesn’t sound like great fun, I would steer clear altogether.

The couple that manages the Sober House are very warm and friendly, supportive and caring. This sober house does not advertise that they facilitate meetings, residents are on their own to attend meetings. There are alcohol/drug tests given to residents three times each week. There are basic, easy, quick house hold assignments that are shared among the residents, split up during the week, excluding the kitchen(house mom does that), the simple assignments are: vaccuming and dusting. Each resident is responsible for keeping their private room clean. This is less of a responsibility than I found at a rehab which was significantly more exensive than a sober house. I find it more than reasonable. While in recovery, I find myself grateful for the opportunity to have such a safe, sane, comfortable, clean, contemporary house to live in, they provide new, large flat screen TV’s in each room with full cable, a new fridge and super comfy beds, air conditioning and a parking space! I’m on my second month and am very happy, so are all of my housemates who have all been here far longer than one month. I think the price($ 850) is certainly fair considering all utilities are included, no major deposit was required, no application process was required, I have only one roommate who is wonderful and I can make my own food.
