Back in April of this year, during Squirrel Week, I was searching for a bakery that had squirrel shaped cookies and stumbled on a merchant on Unilocal that had them(someone had taken a picture) I called that bakery and they told me that Devaro at Sweet Guy made those for them and gave me Devaro’s number. I called and left a message inquiring about the squirrel cookies. He called back and said they were more of a seasonal thing and I told him I would call back in the fall then. Well, here it is… October… Squirrel Awareness Month! I texted Devaro and asked for pricing, etc. He said he just needed 3 – 4 days so when I got back in town from visiting my sister last week, I texted him again and put in an order for 10 squirrel cookies for pick up on Saturday, 10⁄18. This past Saturday, I drove up there(and, mind you, I live in Long Beach, so this is a 38 mile, one-way, trek!) Sooooo worth it! I can bake but my oven hasn’t worked in 8 years and, quite frankly, my bake decorating skills leave a bit to be desired! These are the cutest squirrel cookies ever! I didn’t expect the acorn so I was doubly pleased! Even if they tasted bad, I wouldn’t care bec they’re so cute! But they’re very yummy! I will definitely be back! There’s National Squirrel Appreciation Day on January 21st, Squirrel Week in April and Squirrel Awareness Month in October! :-D I wrapped them in cookie bags that I got from the party supply store once I got them home but the cookies came in a nice bakery box. They’re almost too cute to give away!!!

I just purchased a blueberry lemon lavender pie from this bakery today and it was the best pie I’ve eaten in a long time, plus the owner is very nice. I come here once a week and will continue coming back to this gem of a place for more goodies.

We have been coming here since the doors opened and it’s absolutely the best. It’s our weekend treat every week.

Not often in the Valley, but stumbled on a great/unique find; Sweet Guy Bakery in Sherman Oaks. The ambience was calm and the décor reminded me of a small bakery I’d stumbled into on the Left Bank. Specializing in extremely unique, hand decorated cookies,(of which I could only get 6 because they were sold out ‚) I also purchased their«sticky buns», «apple ugly’s», and«salted caramel«cupcakes. Everything was, and is amazing. I have to hand it to these people ! Hope they open another branch on my side of the hill !

This bakery disappointed me greatly! I live close by and am a baker myself. These baked goods sat in the window for multiple days. When I finally went in to buy something there was nobody able to ring me up, this ended up being a good thing because upon closer inspection the sweet treats looked off from sitting at the wrong temperature. In addition the prices were outrageous, 5.75 for cake that was a simple funfetti, I think not. I agree with the other reviewer that the wallpaper was the only plus!

I would give this place zero stars if possible! I live in the neighborhood and stopped in because the place looked so cute, even though I have never seen anyone inside(customers or staff). Everything was extremely overpriced, $ 4.50 for a sugar cookie, really?!? I ended up buying a piece of the pretty pink cake, DISGUSTING! It was stale and I could tell it had been sitting there for days. I’m no professional baker but even I know to throw away cake when the frosting is hard and starting to turn grey. My one star is for the cute wallpaper. DONOTBUYTHEFOOD.
