Sunrise Medspa

I think this business is closed. When you call them, there is a computer generated voice that says «all circuits are busy» and you can never leave a message or speak to someone. Someone did text me however back in November of 2014 (yes I’ve been trying to make an appt since ¹¹⁄₁₄) and since then its been this way. I have directly asked them via text if they’re out of business and they would not reply. I have groupons with them that I’m unable to use. STAY AWAY!

This place is an absolute joke. I got a groupon 9 months ago. I had an okay experience with the studio city location minus the fact after I bought the group on it took me 2 months to get an appointment. In November I had my last laser hair removal appointment scheduled and they Called me the day before canceling it saying their «laser broke» and would call to reschedule. I never heard back from them. I’ve literally called them every other day since November and it wasn’t until today that someone answered the phone. Then the girl on the phone acted surprised when I told her how I’ve called every day.
Well now I am here in the waiting room. I’ve been waiting for 45 minutes and not one person has greeted me. There is no receptionist. There are still two people ahead of me. This place is a piece of shit and do not come here.

I did 3 months of IPL there at their old Studio City location. They scarred my face each time. They kept telling me that it was normal. I had to wear make up to go to work. I posted the photo on their Unilocal page.
I kept trying to contact them about this, and they just ignored me. This place is terrible and they kept re-​assuring me that my face was fine.
I have shown 4 other physicians the photos of my face and they tell me I should take action against them. Do NOT go here. Check out the photo I posted.

Don’t bother. Such a waste of time and money!!! First of all — they are extremely sketchy and halfway through my treatments they changed locations and employees. And I’ve had 6 laser treatments, per my groupon, and no difference! And I have very light skin with very dark hair so I’m supposed to be the ideal candidate! Couldn’t be sadder. Also several times I’ve shown up and no one is in the office? Or the building is locked? I wonder if they just break into a real doctors facility… Yuck.

While it was a little strange when I got the call confirming my appointment the day before and they mentioned they’d moved offices, I’m super glad that they did. Their new location feels much cleaner and more professional than the Studio City office did, and now they’re in an office suite with a legit OBGYN and a few other doctors.
The receptionist is very nice and has always been helpful in setting up or changing my appointment times when I’ve needed to. I’ve now been there 5 times for laser hair removal and the technician is very sweet and professional. (I didn’t have a great experience with the old technician at the Studio City location, she wasn’t very compassionate and was in a hurry to get me outta there.)
They don’t validate for parking in the building, but most times I haven’t had a hard time finding street parking pretty quickly.
Overall, I’m pretty darn happy with my experience and would recommend them for laser (especially if you get a great deal like I did through Groupon or Living Social).

Sunrise Medspa is now a part of Pacific Rejuvenation Center. Before you read my review, I want to say that my experience with this company is currently satisfactory now that it is settled after its major move and transition from Studio City to Mid-​City-​ish area.
I purchased the $ 79 Groupon for six small area laser treatments while they were still located in Studio City. It was a good experience when I went in the first two times; customer service, location, parking and procedure were all on point…
…Until the major changes they were going through, which caused a ton of frustration for me and many other customers, it looks like. They all of a sudden didn’t pick up my calls and they didn’t announce that they had moved. I called Groupon demanding a refund but they insisted that I let them reach out to Sunrise to contact me. This sucked because Sunrise should’ve just been in touch with their clients in the first place.
Anyway, they moved over the hill, and coincidentally, so did I. Since then, I’ve been going in and it has been OK. It is now part of PACIFIC REJUVENATION CENTER. The wait was almost 45 minutes the first time I went in, still during their transition, but has been quick and efficient after that. Joann (sweet, young Korean lady) is my girl and she has been laser-​ing me the past few times. She has made up for the previous negative experiences I’ve had with this company.

I bought a groupon about a year ago. It was 99 dollars for 6 treatments. I have had laser in the past (3 other places) but this place was the best. From the front desk people to the best most wonderful laser lady (she calls herself that) ever. They never cared about rescheduling it was very easy. And Jennifer (laser lady) was very gently and knowledgeable. She completed 5 of my 6 beard treatments but left on maternity leave. Her mother also worked there and gave me my last treatment. I’ve been waiting for another group on but now I have decided yo pay full price. Thanks to the employees of this place they got 5 stars. I’m a hard person to please but they did it.

Not as friendly as the Studio city location but still very professional. The office is an actual doctors office so some people are there for lasor, gyno etc. They had all my records from the last location so nothing was asked or needed from me. I waited 10 mins to seen. My 4^th appt is for next month.
I’m not giving this location 5 stars because it took forever to finally get ahold of them on the phone. After being there I understand why. I finally left A voicemail for them to call me back and that’s how I was able to get ahold of them.

This place will take your money and run! I complained with the bbb and they said that even they couldn’t get a hold of them. I gave them over $ 1000 for a laser package and then I could never get a hold of them again. Their voicemail is always full and most everytime I book an appointment and take off work, they always say they don’t have my reservation!!! Worst place ever ! Results were horrible as well. I didn’t see any results!!! Go anywhere else.

I realize my review is waaaay late.
I purchased a Groupon package for six laser hair removals.
I used it for my upper lip.
I am a medium complexioned African America woman.
After the first two sessions, I noticed my upper lip started to hypo pigment.
I inquired as to whether the laser was safe for darker skin.
The technician assured me it was appropriate for all skin types.
Thinking it was only temporary I got the third session.
I never received the last three treatments.
Fast forward to 2014, and it appears my lip is permanently discolored.
There is a vast difference between my natural skin tone, and my upper lip.
The technician is highly unqualified, to use lasers for all skin types.
Ladies if you have olive skin or darker
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, UNTIL YOU ARE CERTAIN THEY HAVE REPLACED THEIR LASERS, AND/​OR RECEIVED ADEQUATE TRAINING.

Sorry I tried to go the cheap route with Groupon, and Medspa.

Argh! I’m so upset that others have had the same frustrating experience as i have.
Basically, poor business ethics.
I went to sunrise for facials regularly for over a year — a loyal client because my facialist, Lana was awesome. But they pulled the same scam on me — sold me a 5 facial package for like $ 300 but convienently did not mention they were moving the following week. Anyway, a few weeks before that, Lana called in sick and they didnt even call to let me know so I show up for a facial with a random person i don’t know — not okay!
Then, with the move and my remaining pre-​paid facials guess who no longer works with Sunrise? Lana. Like i mentioned, poor business ethics. Boycott!

While I definitely get everyone’s frustration, not EVERY experience with this place has been horrible. I don’t have any major complaints considering my groupon was only $ 79 for SIX laser treatments!
The location thing was definitely unexpected and inconvenient for some, but I guess things happen behind the scenes when you are a business owner… and it actually worked out really well for me. Because it was a great price, used the machine I wanted, and had good Unilocal reviews I bought it even though Studio City wasn’t super convenient for me, but somehow I got lucky and they moved right by my house! I’m not sure why everyone keeps talking about Brentwood — it’s in the Carthay area near the LACMA/​Miracle Mile, not in Brentwood. Street parking is very easy and the new building is nice with offices and medical places, unlike the last one in the Ross shopping center.
As for the treatments, I’ve always had nice/​friendly technicians that don’t rush you and unlike other (more expensive) places, may go slightly beyond the area instead of policing what you paid for. I’ve also had nice people at the front desk making appointments. They even have evenings/​Saturdays and let you make up to the next two appts at once (5 – 6 weeks apart). Only thing that was a pain was that they made me drive all the way to Studio City for a Saturday «consult» with the nurse before my first appt… which ended up as her reading a 4 question form aloud. Could have been done over the phone within two mins.
In regards to the recent problems — I had my first treatment in Studio City. The day before my second treatment, they told me location changed and asked if I could come earlier because there was an issue with the building A/​C… it was frustrating how last minute this happened, but it worked out, I had my appt, and things were fine. Right before my third treatment is when I got the call (like everyone else) that the machine was broken and they’d need to reschedule. They didn’t call me back and since I saw a lot of people getting mad on Unilocal for not getting through, I just let it go knowing that I also had a fourth treatment scheduled for January. If THAT ended up not happening, maybe I would have asked groupon for a partial refund, but it’s not like I was eager to give up on such a great deal before I was even half done, either. But everything was fine — they called to confirm a couple of days in advance, I came in and had my treatment, and they scheduled my next appt. It seems like it’s part of Pacific Rejuvenation now and it was new faces, but they didn’t seem to have any bad feeling towards Sunrise groupon customers. I’ve never had to wait for any of my three appts — in and out quickly.
The laser treatments haven’t hurt as much as I expected (or as much as I experienced on another body part) so I was paranoid it wasn’t strong enough or working, but the machine still beeps plenty and I’ve seen reduction. Considering it was only my 3^rd of 6 today, I’m anticipating good results by the end. Anyway, I know there are a lot of bad reviews, but hopefully they’re over the craziness and have their act together… don’t give up on this great deal if you’re willing to give them another chance!

I got a groupon laser package for my underarms months ago. It was for when their location was in Brentwood, but they moved without telling me or changing the groupon to their new location.
I have had one treatment done. Then the next appointment I drive for 40 minutes to find that their laser is inoperable. «Thanks for letting me know, I love wasting my time.» I had my second treatment yesterday. I waited for an hour to be seen, even though I was the only appointment due to other cancelations. 6 people behind the desk and not one of them looked up. They’re rude when booking appointments, don’t send reminders or even give you time to write down what day or time it was booked.
I would suggest not getting the groupon from this company. If you have purchased one already I would get your money back and choose someone else.

HORRIBLE customer service! They have cancelled 2 of my appointments already and never called me back to reschedule when they said they would. The only reason I am returning is because I purchased a Groupon for them. I wouldn’t even recommend this place to my worst enemy. If it were possible I would give them negative 5 stars.

Came here today to accompany a friend for a very simple hair removal treatment. We waited for over an hour for her to be seen. There were no other people in the waiting room and about 6 people working! I would advise on never going here! Such a waste of time!

The same happened to me… they took my money and never answer the calls. I went there and no luck. the manager was not there. The lady took my number and never called.

On Saturday, right before my scheduled appointment, I quickly checked out the Unilocal reviews and was shocked to find all these terrible ones saying that they basically take your money and don’t exist anymore. I had been a couple times previously and hadn’t had a bad experience (granted once was at the old location, and the other one I did have to wait an hour). But then of course, I drive in the pouring rain out of my way early on a Saturday morning to find a sign on the door saying that they were closed that day due to a fire drill.
WHAT BUSINESS CLOSES AND DOESNT CALL THEIR CLIENTS WITH APPOINTMENTS THAT DAY TO TELL THEM???
Furthermore, everyone was right. They had a phone number on the sign. The number is never answered (I even waited until Monday — during business hours — before writing this) but it’s connected to a voicemail that is full, so you can’t leave a message.
ARE THEY SERIOUS? I will call maybe 1 or 2 more times before I contact groupon for a refund and then contact the better business bureau. This is pretty appalling.

I have called numerous times leaving messages with the receptionist asking for a call back to speak with a manager, supervisor, owner or simply someone with authority (on the rare occasion someone answers).
Sunrise Med Spa in Studio City was a bit far for me but due to the Groupon deal and decent Unilocal reviews I decided to take the drive from Culver City. I was happy with the move because it was closer to me.
The staff (front desk receptionist) were quite friendly and rather welcoming. Jennie the esthetician was wonderful, she’s was patient with me and answered all my questions about laser hair removal.
The problem began with making appointments. The first appointment went great and I decide I wanted to get more treatments. That is the sole purpose of groupon marketing, to capture customers in hopes they purchase more products or services at regular price. I did exactly that and decide the get laser treatment on my full legs, full arms, under arms and happy trail at full price although my groupon was for one large area which I used for bikini.
The dissatisfaction began when it came to scheduling my treatments. I have a pretty flexible work schedule so I’m pretty open to setting appointments at different times unless its the rare occasion I have a mandatory meeting.
It has been very difficult to get an appointment here. My appointment was pushed back once because the staff missed scheduled me then again cancelled because the laser machine was inoperable. These appointments have set me back now over 3 months with no treatments. I call and call and call crossing my fingers that someone will pick up or hope the voicemail was cleared so that I can leave a message. I haven’t heard from Sunrise Med Spa at all.
At this point I am fed up and I will be requesting a full refund from groupon and will cancel the charges on my American Express.
I hope that Jennie and the nice receptionist that are left in the fire to handle the angry guest calling because of bad management find another company to work for.
I understand as a manager for my company that problems happen but give me a break. A part of a managers job is to solve problems and fix them. Turn a problematic situation into a completely satisfied guest that will refer and continues to do business with the company in the future. Not to hide, not return calls and push your subordinates to the front line to take care of all the problems.

This place is a joke and ridiculous! They called me to cancel my appointment and haven’t answered any of my calls for the last 3 weeks. I want a refund. Stay away from this place. The staff is not friendly and don’t schedule future appointments for services paid through groupon. They don’t tell customers that they are supposed to get laser hair removal treatments every 4 weeks. Regret spending my money here

Like other reviewers said. Supposed new location is non-​existent. Old location is vacant. Website taken down, no one answers the phone ever for the past 3 weeks. I am asking Groupon for refund of my unused sessions. What a dishonest business.
