Style De Vie

i tried to give a no star review, but i had to choose one…
one star is more than Twenty Gauge deserves…
(Style De Vie and Twenty Gauge are sister companies)
They mishandled every aspect of my order…
i sent them a picture of what i wanted and after 3 attempts, and twice the amount of time they told me… they delivered furniture not worth a tenth of what i paid…
the supposed «polished steel» finish is awful. It looks like primer gray with sanding scratches all over it and looks nothing like the pictures on their website… they claimed that it was «hand sanding touches»… absolute nonsense… this was supposed to be professionally finished polished steel furniture, not the abomination they sent me…
i put down 50% on the order, and they were supposed to collect the remaining 50% after delivery… instead they charged me the full amount months before i even got the furniture… they basically knew that they mishandled every aspect of my order, and wanted to make sure that i could NOT get my money back, so they took the full amount and forced me to compromise and continue with my order, even when they could not give me what i was initially promised… i demanded a refund, they refused. i demanded a partial refund to have the furniture refinished properly… they also refused… i was forced to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau…
if you want details and/​or the lengthy email correspondence i had with Twenty Gauge and it’s owner, i would be glad to send it to you… i just don’t want anybody to be taken advantage the way i was…
Avoid Style De Vie/​Twenty Gauge unless you want to get ripped off…

I was referred to style de vie by a friend. A few months ago I decided to open up my own dental office and I needed the place to look nice. Being on a crazy budget, I attempted to get everything from IKEA. I spent hours picking out pieces that I thought would work. Not one person I consulted w agreed w me. That’s when I realized that I was terrible at interior design. So, that’s when style de vie stepped in. JC, the owner, came to my office and worked his magic. He asked all the right questions about what I was looking for and literally walked me through it. He made measurements and then later emailed me a digital layout of all the things we talked about. AMAZING! We went shopping at HD Buttercup, plummers, blueprint and even IKEA. He showed pictures of things he found when he was shopping for me on his own time. It seemed like he was designing his own office because of the amount of thought he put into the project?! In the end, he made the furniture using ideas we accumulated and did it cheaper! I was able to use the legs from one piece at plummers, the Arm style from a piece a buttercups and the fabric from a piece a blueprint. AND HE DID IT FOR LE$$!!!
In addition to making me beautiful furniture, he helped me design the color scheme of my office. I showed him my logo and he helped me pick colors and which accent walls to paint. He even brought in a female opinion to make sure. I did a photoshoot for my website
and he lent me some of his personal art work to hang on my walls!!! I was blown away!
Now, I must say, I was extremely skeptical about spending more money on furniture for my waiting room. Originally I was okay with throwing in a few chairs and an IKEA couch and a coffee table I had in my garage from college. But JC convinced me to listen to him. Honestly, I was still skeptical until we opened. I went back and forth, wondering if I had made the right decision to spend the extra money on my waiting room. But, when we opened, almost everyone commented on how beautiful the office looked and how it made them feel like they weren’t at the dentist office. I had many people tell me I did a great job of designing it and creating a calm environment. People loved the color scheme and asked me where I purchased my couches. As much as I wanted to take all the credit, it ALL belongs to JC and style de vie.
The return on investment (ROI) would be impossible to calculate. But I will say this. In the 3 months that blue pearl dentistry has been open, over 15 people have said they chose my office over the hundreds in Beverly Hills, because of the way the waiting room looked. They loved the style and the feel.
In conclusion, if you are looking for someone for all your interior design needs, and to do the job with compassion, dedication, superb quality and impeccable style, this is your place. Style De Vie. Enough said.

Interesting furniture and very friendly salespeople.

The shop has the kind of design that makes you realize that your place is a dingy crap hole.

I went to this store to buy a sofa. I left with no sofa but 5 silk screen paintings that were made in their warehouse. I was so impressed with the paintings that I figured I could sit on a ratty couch for another month and enjoy some new art in my house. I fully plan on buying a sofa from this place soon because they use such unique, high quality vintage materials in their furniture pieces. The store is laid out beautifully and the prices are all fair.

I wanted to believe that the article I purchased was truly a vintage piece — a medical school chart– but it was not. I am sorry to learn that a reputable dealer does not tell the truth about his merchandise. There were other items in the store such as accessories that were being sold as originals but were reproductions. Many customers do not care if the item is reproduced but the customer should be told the truth so they can decide iff the cost involved is comparable with the merchandise. I like to be able to believe the seller and not be lied to. I believe the merchandise I was sold was not what i was told it was. I It gives vendors a bad name in the indusstry. Honesty is necessary. I WA NTED TO BELIEVE THE VENDOR WAS RIGHT, even though with my experience and expertise I should have known better.
