Description

Specialties

Structural Integration of Los Angeles is owned and operated by (me), Charles Eckhart. I am a California State Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) specializing in Structural Integration. I work with clients who are experiencing pain related to tightness and fascial restriction in muscles, fascia, and joints. I also work with athletes and dancers to improve performance, flexibility, and find dynamic support in movement.

Structural Integration (which developed out of Ida Rolf’s work, «Rolfing») is a method of bodywork that works with fascia, or connective tissue, to correct posture, create freedom in movement, and reduce pain caused by tightness and restriction in muscles and fascia. Fascia is a very dense and strong connective tissue that envelopes our muscles, bones, and organs, and holds us together. When it tightens due to gravity, repetitive motion, poor postural habits, and other reasons, it can create pain, tightness, and inhibition in movement.

I draw from Kinesis Myofascial Integration (KMI), Rolf Structural Integration, Rolf movement reeducation, Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, and contemporary Pilates to provide customized strategies for clients. Therefore, my work includes a lot of precise assessment (to determine the root cause of a postural problem), and a combination of soft tissue manipulation and movement reeducation to correct posture and reduce pain.

History

Established in 2006.

I began my business in Arizona in 2006, and in 2009, moved to the Los Angeles area to continue my Structural Integration practice while I pursue a graduate degree. I am located in Hancock Park, at 3rd and La Brea.

Meet the Business Owner

Charles E.

Business Owner

I am Structural Integrator, licensed as a California State Certified Massage Therapist (CMT), and located in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. I have been practicing bodywork for 9 years.

The majority of my clients come for a Structural Integration Series, a 10 session series which is formulated to restructure posture, and improve efficiency of movement. But, I often work with clients who only need a session or two of work to release an acute problem (like a tight neck, shoulder, etc). I am happy to craft a plan (be it long or short) to meet my clients needs. I am board certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), and state certified through the California Massage Therapy Council (CMTC). I am also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).
