Photography has been a passion for me since I was 11 years old. In 1997, I went back to school to pursue photography as a career and have been growing as an artist and business since.

Starla Fortunato continues to photograph some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. The proof is in the picture — she finds the beauty in every face.

Starla believes that «every face has a sublime angle», and she’s committed to unlocking each client’s most attractive features to produce powerful portraiture.

You’ll see her portraits in actor’s portfolios, annual reports, on billboards, and book covers. Starla’s images have been seen in Venice Magazine, Glamour, TV Guide, Angeleno, Los Angeles Times, Teen Vogue, New York Times, The Guardian and other publications.

Her studio is located in Hollywood California and she travels globally for assignments.

Starla is beyond brilliant because she has a talent for capturing the essences of a person. I hired Starla for a half day photo shoot and I got way more than I expected. From the hair and make up to a full filled day of play, Starla took an ordinary business day and made it an adventure. Plus, the photo’s she took rocked my world and I’m in much gratitude of her work. If you need photo’s for any reason, don’t even think twice… dial her up and book your session.

If you’re looking for head-​shots or portraits look no further. We did a photo session last week. I have always been wary of cookie-​cutter commercial photographers/​portraitists, having been in the biz myself years ago. I have to say that the experience with Starla, + her intuition, timing, creative generosity, and eye are amazing.
For portraits — commercial, editorial, or personal — she has the ability to create the alchemy needed for stellar shots. We worked for half a day and have a range of shots that will last us for several years. Thank you Starla!

She is so amazing! My pictures turned out great! She made me feel so comfortable and beautiful and used awesome backgrounds to enhance my pictures. The hair and makeup team were so on point and knew just how to highlight all the right parts of my face. There was even snacks there for me! Starla literally changed my life… from just spending an afternoon together for my photoshoot. Working with Starla was a breath of fresh air. Seriously, I feel so blessed. Being new to the area, and new to the business, it was incredible to have such a comforting welcome. Starla made me feel like we were close friends, even before I met her in person– phone calls chatting about anything from the kind of roles I’m looking for to Johnny Depp. She just gets people. She gets what makes us tic, or at least she got what made me tic. And I think that directly contributes to her gift as a photographer. Not only that, but the way she and her team treat her clients is amazing! Kriz, my make-​up artist that she brought on, was so easy going and warm, and her assistant Rachel lit up the room! And then, on top of that, there’s the great food. I felt like I was just having a fun day with the girls, chatting and taking pictures and having a blast. Blahh I could go on and on and on. I just loved her so much. And my photos are gorgeous. Really just incredible. Natural and crisp and just… beautiful. Thank you so much Starla.

No matter what your level of experience has been getting a professional photo taken of yourself, Starla will make you feel relaxed, confident, and energized which, in turn, is plainly visible in her photos. Her studio is light filled and fun. She makes every single step of the process, from little things like parking to big things like choosing the right shot, easy for her clients with clear instructions to follow. She’s simply a pro. OMG! It is almost impossible to find a photographer who knows how to photograph women and make us look like ourselves… and attractive. (No icky, soft focus glamour shots, please.) I LOVED shooting with Starla so much that I hired her twice. And my business photos have made me money: people like my photo so much that they sign up for my classes (or ask for my business card) just because the photos are memorable and fun. She’s a genius, and a truly lovely person too.
