Great family owned toy store like there used to be many of before Target came along. Thoughtful selection. And surprisingly large selection. And free gift wrapping!

This is an awesome toy store. I stopped in here while on a business trip from out of town to buy a toy for my little boy. The selection was outstanding. The owner asked if I wanted my toys wrapped and I said yes– not knowing how awesome the wrapping is! My little boy was beside himself when he got his gifts!

A nice store and they have a nice selection. The walkways are narrow but luckily I hadn’t eaten lunch yet.
My son had recently played with a Barrel of Monkeys set at someone’s house and he kept talking about it. While he was taking a nap I decided to go get it for him. Star Toys didn’t have it and confusingly expressed that they would have it next week. All good and this was a random search, I realize. I will give them another shot next time we need a toy store.

Quaint toy store in great location in Brentwood. Huge selection of unique toys, JellyCat, robots, Star Wars, Legos, and much more. back of store offers extended section and even more inventory of FUN stuff.

I have known Carol and Lenny for over 40 years and they are the best. I would never go anywhere else for toys and Lenny is remarkable at what kids love and need. I have winning gifts each time and the wrapping is terrific. Carol and Lenny are funny and friendly and it is always a good time when buying any toy. Best toy store ever.

Gave us free plastic forks when we were looking for it in the store. We had a birthday party at the park across the street and the nice gentlemen said that we don’t even need to buy but we still did anyway. A real life saver! Thank you so much sir!

Wow! I have found the toy Mecca! They give you quarters for the meter, recommend based on age, family owned, and they gift wrap! My new go to for big and little kids!

I love this toy store. They have a great selection and the prices are reasonable. Plus, they always gift wrap for free and tape a few little trinkets on the package and add a gift tag. So you save money on gift wrap and the recipient gets a few extra little goodies! They do it in about one minute, too!
The owners work there themselves and are friendly and funny. They’ve been in business a long time and I hope they are there for many more years!

Great store great people. I have gone to this store for years. They are so nice and always go the extra mile. They wrap the best in town with all the little goodies all over the top you know its from star toys when you see it.

So I had been eying this PINK BLOWUP strawberry lollipop…
ever since I walked down the neighborhood with my honey and it was a promotional toy outside Star Toy’s store. I thought, how fun! I work with children all over LA and I’m starting a kids arts and crafts blog and I needed pop art (3D!) inspiration to bring my office at home to life, as it is a funky lime green hue with toy collectibles trickled all over to make me think FUN=Childhood. So I go to Star Toys perfectly prepared to get a little spendy for the lollipop and the owners (lady and man) saw how much I needed that pink blow up lollipop though they didn’t have any to sell, they just hiked it off the post from outside and gave it to me! How sweet!!!
Well if kids beam when they get real lollipops you should have seen the look on my face to get the biggest lolly on the block!
I went inside and noticed they had Melissa and Doug colored chalk so I picked some up to try it not as chalkboard chalk but as… mermaid hair dye! Yes that’s right! A huge kiddy makeover trend is not only facepainting but you gotta have the MERMAID or ROCKSTARhair to go along. How do I do it? Well you wet your hair, buy $ 2.00 Melissa and Doug colored chalk, ask the Star Toys owner where to find it as it’s toward the back of the store, wet the chalk of your choice in a cup of water and grab a hair strand and paint paint paint till the color goes on. Insta colored hair great for birthdays, park catwalks and general silliness! Everyone will stop you and your child in the street being like ‘nice hair!!’. So if you’re having a beach day with the kids give the mermaids a run for their money! Wash out hair dye with water and shampoo when you’re done showing it off;)

As for the toys… amazing selection… this is where you want to buy your baby some collectibles that will last them their whole lives and to pass down to their babies one day. Beautiful, classic vibe to the store and they have awesome kids crafts if you want to treat the kiddies to some special stuff. Go to Star Toys and start your childhood memories there!

This store has been an LA treasure for a long, long time. The owners are extremely helpful and when they wrap your gift, you get extra little toys taped to the top of the box. Forget going to toys r us or some big company, support your local, family owned business. Star Toys has plenty of toys to choose from and you can always ask, «What would be good for a _​_​_​_​_​year old boy/​girl». The answer will no doubt make you a hero in the eyes of the recipient. May this great store never go away!

The toy selection is ok. Everything is way more expensive than anywhere else and there is no air conditioning, so it gets very hot and stuffy during the summer. We bought a walker for my daughter that she did not end up needing as she started to walk on her own. We called and asked if we could exchange it (we never even opened the box) and the owners told us that we could. When we brought it back, the lady yelled at me (in front of other people): THIS BOX HAS BEEN OPENED! Like I had just run someone over. Now, the box sat in our living room the entire time, so I know for sure no one had touched it. She made me feel terrible and embarrassed me in front of my daughter and other people. Then she said, as if conferring a great favor, but with contempt, «FINE, you can exchange it, go.» I felt like tossing it in her face and leaving, but it’s kind of a lot of money, so I decided to just grab something for my daughter and leave. While we were looking, the owners took the price sticker off of the walker and then told us that it cost 20 dollars less than it actually had cost. Needless to say, we are never ever coming back to this store. Just because you’ve been in business for whatever number of years, doesn’t mean you can treat people like that.

Love this store! They have unique toys that I’d never seen before and are really great quality too! The family that owns it is fantastic too! Not only are they hysterical but they know every toy in the store and will suggest a toy that is right for the age/​price range you are looking for!

Star Toys has an okay selection and the prices are a little high… but I like that it’s a family owned business and if they don’t have something I’m looking for, they’ve been quick to suggest other options.
They also steer clear of a lot of brand name toys, and stock really great unique items that are more hands-​on for kids, which I love!
It’s a pretty cute little store, too!
If you’re into celebrity watching, this is a good place to stake out as I’ve seen this store in a lot of those gossip rags with photos of celebs with their little ones. But really you should go here because it’s a neat little toy store!
