We cannot thank Joel, Mike, Jon, Drew, and everyone over at Spotlight LA that had ANYTHING to do with our wedding enough because they were incredible!
I have been to a lot of weddings, and the wedding DJs were always either a little corny, disorganized, or just not that great with a poor selection of music for dancing. However, in complete contrast, SpotlightLA was amazing! We were so impressed and so pleased with how effortlessly everything flowed throughout the evening. There was never a dull moment, nor did it ever feel like there was too much going on or that anything was rushed. It just went perfectly and we can’t thank them enough.
From our first dance to the end of the night and everything in between, everything was exactly what we wanted. Mike said that his job was to simply throw a great party — and that is exactly what they did. Both Kenny and I agree that the best and most fun wedding that we have ever gone to was our own. All of our friends and family also keep telling us how our wedding was the best and/​or most fun wedding they had ever attended.
The guys from SpotlightLA played the all the right music at all the right times. It was so great to be able to dance as much as we did — and I couldn’t believe how packed the dance floor was for most of the night. Every moment from the bouquet and garter toss to being able to dance with my grandmother was so special thanks to them.

SpotlightLA helped create a fantastic and memorable Prom for Village Christian HS, on May 14, 2016. The DJ’s played music that kept the dance floor full all night long; they provided us with a photo booth, including props and unlimited pictures for the students to take home; and there was just the right balance of music and MCing. Thank you SpotlightLA for doing such a great job. It was a pleasure to work with you.

This past weekend I was lucky enough to have Spotlight LA at my son’s Bar Mitzvah. I knew I was going to have a great party with them in charge as I am a repeat customer. They also did my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah 2 years ago and that was an incredible event! I had a dream team of MC Mike, MC Mitchell, DJ Lil’ Jon, VJ Andrew and of course as a bonus, MC Joel showed up to lend his support for my family (which was a huge surprise as he was not supposed to be there). On top of that, they had amazing dancers which kept the kids and adults engaged all night long!!! They are so easy to work with through all of the stages of the planning process all the way through to the night of the party. They truly know what they are doing. everything runs seamlessly with them at the helm!
One of the best things about working with Joel is that he works with you to customize your party so that you end up saving money in the end. So many of the DJ companies out there, only provide an MC, a DJ and dancers. With Spotlight LA, it’s a full service party planning organization. They have lighting packages, stages, screens, games and all kinds of add ons that help make the night incredible. Best of all, since it’s all under the same place, it’s one stop shopping and they are able to package things together so that you don’t spend as much as if you went to get all of those things separately. For my son’s Bar Mitzvah, Joel also convinced me to use their photo booth add on and boy am I thrilled that I did. I have seen many photo booths over the years and honestly, this one is top notch. It’s a freestanding camera that is staffed with two people (one to man the camera and one to help with the printing out of the photos). The pictures are so well lit, everyone in the photos looks amazing. They have really fun props and signs which made the guests really want to take more and more photos! They immediately print out photos for all of the guests who want them and the photos are available after the party for guests to download for themselves as well.
VJ Andrew is so easy and cool to work with. He makes the whole night feel personal for everyone involved by showing fun videos and pictures on the video wall that the kids and adults love to see. MC Mike and MC Mitchell were so attentive to everyone’s needs at the party. They made sure that everyone was always having a great time and kept everyone moving. DJ Lil’ Jon played amazing music that both the kids and the adults loved.
All in all, I can’t say enough good things about this company. There is a lot of competition in this field, but I can honestly tell you, you will not find a harder working group of people whose only goal is to make your child’s party the best party there is. And they do that night after night, week after week, all year long! I don’t know how they do it, but I’m glad that I discovered them years ago.
Thanks so much for being part of our celebration! Can’t wait for our 3peat in 2021!!!

Joel put in tons of time the weeks leading up to the event to Skpye with my son for hours and create the grand entrance of his dreams-​most vendors will not spend that kind of time with their client! Joel is THE best DJ around-​truly cannot get better! The crowd loved him, he kept the party going and gets everyone up on the dance floor! Of course Jon spins the best music which helps make the party amazing! The song choices were loved by all, adults and kids!
Wow-​what Andrew does up on that virtual wall is truly magical and cannot be found anywhere else! I was very hesitant to have the virtual wall at our party but I am SOOO glad that Joel finally convinced me! The party wouldn’t have been the same without it! Andrew incorporated so many things that my son loves into the design process and had the most awesome images up on the screen to reflect his love for camp, Zelda and Back to the Future in exactly the understated and elegant way I was hoping for!
Knowing I have 3 more kids to plan b’nai mitzvot for should be daunting but knowing I will be using Spotlight LA makes it much more easy and exciting! Can’t say enough positive things about how much we loved working with Joel and his entire team, they are a must for any successful mitzvah or event! Thank you Joel, Andrew and Jon!!!

SpotlightLA Entertainment has been part of our family for over 6 years. We first met Joel when we hired his company for my son Jesse’s bar mitzvah. Since then we have hired Joel and SpotlightLA for my other children’s bar/​bat mitzvahs. The folks at SpotlightLA are something special. First let me tell you that all three of my children are different, but Joel and the staff at SpotlightLA are so accommodating. They don’t want to make it their (Spotlights) party, but they want to make it our party. They want it to be my kid’s vision. So our son Jesse was on the shy side then and he didn’t want to be the center of attention. MC Mike was the perfect person for the job. He met with Jesse before hand and they hit it off. He made the night unforgettable for Jesse. Mike knew how to set the evening so that it would be a perfect event for Jesse and everyone who came to celebrate. We loved him so much that we asked him to come back for Syd’s bat mitzvah 2 years later. Syd was a little bit more outgoing at 13 and Mike knew that, and created another wonderful evening. Now our third child, Rory loves being the heart of the party. We just had his bar mitzvah in August of 2015. For that event Joel, one of the owners of SpotlightLA was the MC. What a spectacular night. The theme was hockey and the LA Kings. SpotlightLA, specifically VJ Andrew made incredible customized visuals. You can count on Spotlight, Joel and the rest of the staff. They always listened to our needs and tailored each event accordingly. For all three mitzvahs, we used big screens, customized visuals that captured the theme of each event. I definitely would hire them again and again. They are good people… real menches.
ANOTHER REVIEW!:
I was in a crunch. I am the West Coast Chair of Save a Child’s Heart and we were having our first big event in November 2014. We never thought that we needed someone to carry the event, a DJ, but as the date approached, we felt that we have a gap to fill. I was talking to Joel and he came to our rescue. He made the evening flow. When we first hired him, I was a little skeptical, because I only knew Joel and Spotlight as a bar/​bat mitzvah vendor. Low and behold, they are more than that. Before the event, he took the time to learn about SACH and to hear what we want to accomplish at the event. Joel and SpotlightLA filled the role of event manager, as well as host and he did the music when the band wasn’t performing. We hired them back this past November. Not only was he the MC, but he took care of the lineup, made sure everyone knew their roles… Thank you Joel, you are the best.

Event coordinating and planning is what i do, so when it came to picking a DJ for my own wedding I chose Drew. Music and your Dj can make or break your event and Drew was nothing short of perfect. We chose the type of music we wanted for the different times of the evening and how we wanted the guest to feel and the flow of the evening. Drew took it from there… The evening was charming, personal, and really fun, and I couldn’t of asked for more.
I have also used spotlight for many of my other events and all of their Dj’s and MCs are amazing, You will always have the best time, their energy and attention to detail is beyond anyone I haver ever worked with. I promise you will be beyond satisfied if you work with them.

I can’t begin to thank SpotlightLA and their staff for all of their hard work with our wedding. We began our wedding planning, a year out. My wife and I really wanted a special party, where everyone could have fun.
As all ages were attending, we wanted to make sure whomever we chose to provide entertainment would be ready for the task. After interviewing many entertainment companies, we found SpotlightLA. From the very beginning, the office staff made planning our big day easy and painless; Jon and Andrew were always available and helpful for suggestions and logistics.
Meeting and working with Mike, our Emcee was amazing. He walked us through our day from the very beginning to the very end. He said that was his job to make everything work, and for us to be stress free.
The day-​of was amazing. The SpotlightLA staff arrived extra early to setup and make sure everything was perfect. Mike checked in and reassured us everything would be flawless for our big day, and IT WAS! We couldn’t have been happier. Jon played great music and was really creative in setting the mood during our event. Mike, to his word, walked us through all of our formalities. Before our toasts, he made sure we had our toasting flutes, set us up for pictures, and held our hands the whole time– he even got us drinks.
Our party had a Virtual Wall, too. We were nervous to have a huge screen as we didn’t want an eyesore to distract. Mike and Andrew assured us it would lend to the ambiance, set the mood and theme. They were right again. As guests arrived, Andrew had pictures of us on a slideshow. Then, as an amazing surprise to me, Mike had arranged to have all of our guests send pictures of themselves holding a sign with love in it. During our first dance, Andrew played these pictures, and my wife almost cried from happiness. Throughout the evening, Andrew mixed video, pictures, and he even made a graphic of our name that was used on the screen throughout the evening as décor.
It isn’t until we got back from our honeymoon that we really realized how amazing our event was. Jon, Andrew and Mike are more than just entertainers we hired, they are part of our family. We couldn’t be more appreciative to the staff at SpotlightLA. Thank you so much for everything you did to make our wedding night perfect!

Attention to every detail! The Green Screen for the Photo Booth was Amazing. They personalized it for my son’s theme — and brought great props too! The Virtual Wall was incredible and all of the graphics really made the party come alive. I really appreciated all of the individualized one on one attention from Joel — he and his staff went out of their way to make everything easy. I highly recommend Spotlight LA — for everything — lighting — entertainment — they put it all together! As the host you sit back and relax. Special Thank you to Seth Bretton for working the party too — he was AWESOME as usual!

Joel thanks for taking our party so late in the game. It was truly beshert, you truly were part of a team (Nickolas and One Events Inc.) that saved my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah.
Seth and Drew were amazing, kept the party rocking all night. We wanted a lounge dance club vibe and they nailed it!!! Kudos for attention to detail, communication with party planner and vendors, talking to the crowd, etc, etc, I would trust SpotlightLA to handle any party I plan in the future.

I used SpotlightLA for my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah on October 4^th 2015 and it was the best party.
Our venue was the night club Avalon in Hollywood. We had a «Dancing With The Stars» theme that included choreographed routines with SpotlightLA dancers, along with customized graphics throughout the night. Their entire team was helpful, professional, and took amazing care of us.
DJ Jon and VJ Andrew made the time to come to the club and work with their staff to ensure everything would run smooth and test equipment. One of our dancers J Chong not only helped teach the choreography, but performed at the party with my daughter. MC Rocky kept the party going all night long and even did red carpet interviews as our guests entered the club. Jon and Andrew made sure the music and atmosphere in the club was energetic and rocking all night. Our photo booth was excellent and a huge hit.
It was an amazing event and SpotlightLA did a fantastic job.

First encountered Spotlight LA at a friend’s son’s Bar Mitzvah. Recommended them to everyone ever since. We finally got to use them for our Bar/​Bat Mitzvah’s five years after first meeting them. They were even better than the first time we experienced them. You guys rock!!!

As a synagogue Executive Director, it’s always fun to be in the planning for your own child. Normally, I only get to help plan fundraising events like our Annual Gala.
I always say there are two things that guests remember at a party — the food and the entertainment! Joel Macht — you shined at Aly’s Bat Mitzvah. The evening flew by and your command of the evening was flawless! You and your crew have definitely made all three of our B’nai Mitzvah’s memorable. Our guests could not stop commenting «Joel was on fire tonight». Our out of town guests even know your name and asked «is Joel DJing again — I wish he was in AZ»?
I knew that when I called you in secrecy before Aly’s Bat Mitzvah to tell you that I wanted to surprise Gila for our 25^th anniversary that night, you suggested our wedding dance song «St. Elmo’s Fire» without knowing that was our wedding dance song and I was going to ask you to play it that the 3^rd B’nai Mitzvah with you was going to be flawless — and it was!
From the bottom of our hearts, and on behalf of Benjamin, Jordan and Aly — thank you for being a part of our celebration and for ensuring the perfect B’nai Mitzvah and party experience. It was the perfect evening and we know that you had a VERY large part in making that happen!

I highly recommend Joel Macht and his great crew at SpotlightLA. They were the DJs for our daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. Joel and his crew were extremely professional, knew what they were doing, and delivered more than what we asked for. I also highly recommend Andrew Macht for creating a wonderful montage for our daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. We were in good hands and everyone had a great time. Thank you Joel!

I wish I could rate Joel and his team (Carissa and Johnny, in our case) more than 5 stars! From the time we booked them until the end of our son’s Bar Mitzvah, it was a flawless experience.
I expressed to Joel from the very beginning that the most important thing would be for Sam to have fun, and secondarily, for US to have fun. We did!!! The entire evening was perfect… they have the awesome ability to feel exactly what’s wanted and needed. I’ve never seen my son have so much fun… It almost makes me wish we were having another Bar Mitzvah (haha), but since we’re not, I will absolutely recommend Joel and his team to every one of my friends, and anyone else who asks. Thank you again, Joel, for the perfect party!

I can’t believe I took so long to write this review, but I love Joel and his team of DJs. I can’t imagine my wedding without them!
My husband and I got married back in November 2014 at the Oviatt Penthouse. Music and our guest experience was very important to us, so we interviewed a TON of DJs. We were looking for a team that would not only manage the music, but also MC the evening, develop the right ambiance & lighting, help us with logistics and keep us on schedule with timeline. Don’t get me wrong, we still had a wedding planner, but trust me, your wedding planner already has a ton to do.
Anyhow, after we chatted with Joel, we knew we found the one! He is so easy to talk to. So down to earth, yet extremely knowledgeable and definitely a pro in the industry. He walked us step-​by-​step through the timeline and even brought up some points we never would have thought about! Lifesaver!
At the wedding, Joel and his team came in hours early to setup the lighting (we added dance floor and uplighting to our package) and to test the sound equipment. Our setup was not easy since they had to deal with stairs and I know they had to park a few blocks away. Sorry guys! They made it work and also set aside time to meet with all of the other vendors (photographer, videographer, wedding coordinator etc) to make sure everyone knew the timeline/​schedule. What a relief that they didn’t just show up 30 minutes before the start time. I would have been so stressed! They even had time to check in with us, which was really nice.
The lighting looked phenomenal!!! Joel MC’d and co-DJ’d our wedding along with another DJ, Mike. We couldn’t have asked for a better team! Joel was on point with the grand entrance, introductions, and announcements. I can’t believe he correctly pronounced all of the difficult names! Haha. Best of all, he kept us on schedule — and we packed a lot of in! Both Mike and Joel were great at reading the crowd and knew what to play to keep our guests on the dancefloor! We had such an epic dance party, it was awesome and soooo much fun!
…And on to the BEST part and my favorite memory of the night (with the exception of saying «I do», of course). The night was nearing an end and all of the guests were making their way out. The music was off and the event staff were clearing tables and cleaning up. It just so happened that my husband and I were outside chatting next to the dance floor. From out of nowhere, our first dance song started playing! We were so surprised and the timing couldn’t have been more beautiful. We danced to our song, one more final time. Just the two of us, under the stars with no one else around. I can honestly say that I will never forget that moment. It was so magical and the absolutely best way to end the evening. It never would have happened if Joel didn’t go the extra mile and create that moment for us. We are so grateful for him!
Sorry this review is so long. We are just so happy we chose Spotlight as our MC/​DJ. Love them and can’t wait for them to DJ our vow renewal one day :)

Had a great experience with the entire Spotlight Team led by Joel, Andrew and the crew! Great customer service, fair pricing, great coordination and logistics, and most importantly great energy to get the party started, moving and fun! Most importantly, they are sincere and genuine in wanting to build long term relationships rather than just pop in and out of your life for one event. Our kids see these guys at school events, friends and family events, and so on — and it is nice that as they grow up they get to celebrate the good times with familar faces always trying to make the moment memorable. BTW — the video montage — fantastic — and they took so much of the load off our plates when we were already full. Thanks Andrew!

Unbelievable experience with Spotlight LA! I have used them on more then one occasion now and they go above and beyond. I was completely impressed how they handled my daughters 13 year old birthday party with 30 teenagers! They captured their attention and kept them all entertained until the end! I would not only recommend them but will continue to use Spotlight LA for future events! Five Stars all the way!
