Space 15 Twenty

It isn’t a shopping center… There is an Urban Outfitters (one of my favorites) and an Umami Burger along with other smaller shops, nothing that leaves an impression. The space sometimes houses events… That is how I was first introduced to this space when I attended an event here many moons ago.
The courtyard is a cool spot to head towards to munch down on food picked up at the Hollywood Farmers Market held every Sunday.
Nearest Metro Station: Red Line at Hollywood/​Vine Station

Super hipster little part of Hollywood, run by Urban Outfitters.
Amazing bookstore, tiny gallery, gigantic Urban; and there’s an event area used for lots of cool art, youth, architecture related things. If you’re going to Amoeba, this should 100% be your next stop.

Space 15Twenty is a hipster gem located in the heart of Hollywood. It houses a unique bookstore, a trendy salon, an Urban Outfitters and an Umami Burger! It’s not too upbeat or loud, so its a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. If you come during the right times you can often catch tv stars hanging out here (think Aubrey Plaza)!

Amazing plaza venue that houses cool, very LA boutiques, shops, bookstores, salons, food, and event space. It’s especially best to to come here on Sundays when they have the Farmer’s Market from morning til 2pm. You get to walk amongst the LA locals, picking out produce, listen to folky 1-​man bands, and deciding which food vendor to eat from. I always like to do my shopping, grab food, and eat it in the open courtyard at Space 15 Twenty. So L.A.

This spot is Fresh! I saw the coolest exhibit here on my way to urban outfitters. it’s tucked in a cool little artsy area that houses some cute little shops. wish i could remember the artists name. .next time I’m there I’ll have to cop a tshirt.

Accidental discovery by searching rapidly for an Umami Burger in my phone while driving around Hollywood. Finally got my Ahi tuna burger and truffle fries fix, checked out a few art & architecture literature at Hennessey + Ingalls. To top it off, there was an event with a local band playing and getting moderately buzzed on a tall can of Modelo Especial with my beautiful date. Just one of those days got all my ducks in a row. Sweet weekend thanks to this fresh spot!

Really neat space. There are several clothing stores located in this building. A central courtyard connects them all. Including a Unami Burger joint. Definitely worth a look, easy walking and parking distance to most places in Hollywood. Several other shops to include a hair dresser within a 5 minute walk.
Suggestion — do not use the paid parking lots unless you are going to be in the area all day. They begin at $ 10 and most will force you to do tandem parking & leave your car keys with them. «I cannot vouch for any valuables left in your car» is what they will tell you.

Very cool spot nestled in between Umami burger and Urban Outfitters on Cahuenga. You kind of have to know it’s there. Sometimes they’ll screen classic movies outside. Sometimes they’ll have kiosks or special sales (I was there today for the Goorin Bros. sample sale, which was fab, btw). Sometimes they’ll have live music.
I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to get here, but if you wanted to make a day of it in the area — and there are many of venues to enjoy — then you should definitely stop by Space 15 Twenty while you’re there.
Trust me on this one; I’m an Elite. ;)

This place seriously needs parking!!!

After hanging out at the Do Over my friends and I hopped on over to Umami for a bite to eat. What I didn’t expect was this wonderful little shopping plaza with really cool stores. The atmosphere there is very chill and on today’s visit there was a couple of performers singing in the patio! Great VIBE! Little gems like this gives me more reasons to relocate to LA. I can’t wait to explore more places like this in the future! =)
I also think that this is what The Lab and The Camp in Costa Mesa try to replicate, but its not the same vibe. Oh well nice try! hehehe

It’s nice that there’s an outdoor shopping/​event space in this part of Hollywood; definitely a welcome and unexpected change from the shopping norm of long walks on busy streets or tromping through your basic mall.
Definitely somewhat of an intimate oasis in the big crazy city.
They have their own parking lot (for a fee), but I recommend grabbing a meter on the street if you can; I think it’s cheaper and you can pay by credit card (so nice!), where as the lot is cash only.
Check it out sometime! Umami and Urban Outfitters are worth the trip alone.

Nice place! Umami, Urban Outfitters, Hennessey+Ingalls. but if anyone asks you to come check out an artsy film at Space 15 Twenty, don’t be like me and assume it’s going to be indoors. Bring a jacket, cuz it’s definitely an outdoor event! I repeat, OUTDOOR VENUE! They have a dj spinnin outside, and a large projector/​huge screen. Sound is amazing, picture quality is lacking as it’s not dark enough. It’s free so how can you really argue though right?
Don’t bother with those $ 10 lots, search for street parking. It’s free after «see time on meter.»

This little shopping center has a cool urban feel with the alley ways and the city feel. They have a few spaces that are rented out to artists or different exhibits which is pretty neat, an Urban Outfitters and a Umami Burger to just name a few places. I also saw that they have a weekly flea market that they host on Sundays! I love this place– I hope to check it out again soon.

One can safely bet that living in LA, you have often times ventured upon an individual who looks like they are straight out of a fashion catalog. Whether that catalog involves the pages of Macy’s, Michael Kors, or American Apparel; he/​she looks like the epitome of the store from head to toe. A walking billboard, so to speak.
The same can be said about Space 15 Twenty. The venue space/​shopping center (calling it a shopping center is somewhat pushing it, it is more of a shopping «nook»); is straight out of the pages of Urban Outfitters. In fact, you can almost see the models strutting around a photoshoot in the courtyard. Alas, this makes sense as Space 15 Twenty is owned by Urban Outfitters so along with the «tying-​too-​hard-​to-​clothe-​hipsters» vibe that is the store motto of Urban; this is passed along to Space 15 Twenty.
Don’t get my hipster-​hating self wrong. Space 15 Twenty is a charming, little nook which resembles an industrial, cultural street with such stores like Pur («recycled’ goods), Free People, Pharmacy (skateboarding), Hairroin (salon), a bookstore, Umami for you burger brains (note that this Umami actually can serve you versus crazy lines), and lots of pop-​up space for temp stores and flea markets. Plus, there is an intimate courtyard available for screenings, parties ( Unilocal for instance), and band performances (Interpol and St. Vincent have performed here).
However, cute architecture aside, it is still screaming «trying too hard» with the Urban hipsters and the kiddos from Amoeba across the street. Most of the people I’ve seen here look like they walked into Urban, bought their outfit, and then proceeded to hang out for the day. I am a firm supporter of individualistic style, but when you look like everyone else, that isn’t an «off-​culture» even you think it is.
There I go again, hating on hipsters! The point with Space 15 Twenty is that is isn’t an all-​inclusive «shopping center». Unless you’re shopping list includes a person of the H-​word persuasion, you won’t find anything here you would find in a mall or larger shopping center. Choices are rather limited. However, if you want to grab an item at Urban, a burger at Umami, and browse at Amoeba across the street; then BINGO! You win!
So go ahead, do some hipster people watching. Maybe you’ll end up in a photoshoot, yourself.

Great space! There was a fundraiser held there over the weekend for a great dog rescue group, the Bill Foundation, and it was hooked up! Umami served burgers. So good and the fries were tasty too. Just their basic burgers I guess. Gotta check them out just for the restaurant some day. Open bar… always dangerous =).
Basically Space 15 Twenty is an open courtyard area for a bunch of cool stores like Umami Burger, Urban outfitters, free people etc. Haven’t been here for anything else, but I would say its definitely worth checking out again. Good times!

Here’s the lowdown on one of my favorite go-to’s spots in LA:
–Their Umami Burger is better than your Umami Burger. They have cool seating (indoor & outdoor) and you can shop while you wait to be seated (obviously make sure someone is nearby the restaurant in case your name is called sooner than you think). Get the Truffle Burger if you love sodium in your sexy bod and ask about items that are not on their menu like their TRUFFLE FRIES
–Their Urban Outfitters has lots of items, but as of late, didn’t have what I was looking for. I suggest going to bigger locations like the one in Melrose or Americana. This location does have lots of vintage goods which others don’t for some reason.
–Try to find meter parking along Ivar so you don’t have to park in their lot. Although they do validate, you still have to pay
–Their courtyard changes ALL THE TIMEEE. Sometimes a DJ’s spinning, sometimes flea markets, sometimes just outdoor seating.
–Right across from Amoeba so get your vinyl on too

I’ve been here a few times now on my own and thanks to Unilocal events, and I’m really impressed with the effort the organizers here are making to create a truly neighborhoody spot in the middle of Hollywood.
Owned by Urban Outfitters, this little food/​shopping/​culture plaza boasts great food (Umami), fun clothes (Urban, Free People), and lots of culture (an art and architecture bookstore, gallery).
The best part about this space though, is the great events. From White Stripes documentary screenings to flea markets, Space 15 Twenty is a welcome addition to a part of LA that in the past has felt really inaccessible to me.

What a cool idea from Urban Outfitters. Space 15twenty is their little brain-​child side project/​experiment in the heard of hollywood, where the public can wander the art gallery one night, or crowds of people dancing the next night. There’s generally always something going on here every week, which keeps me happy.
October 2009, the Gallery and the clothing space sported a scenic wood-​scape in the form of the Where the Wild Things Are. The gallery had one-​of-​a-​kind prints and original sketches from the film.

3 stars, for now, since the gallery and snackbar were closed when we got there, but I will be coming back again (and again) for an update. :]

Hipster haven, come one, come all! I kid. Just a great place where fashion and art come together.
All-​in-​one space consisting of:
Urban Outfitters — decently sized store, same nationwide sales and what not. They had the extra 50% sale going on last weekend, it may still be going on?
We The Free — «We the free?» My butt. Pricy but pretty, delicate threads at this small store
What Comes Around Goes Around — Rare vintage finds here. I imagine this is the place to hit up when you want to appear on the Sartorialist
Snackbar — modern little bar with a nice selection of beers and food; Pimm’s iced tea sounds so good (gin, Pimm’s, ginger, lemon, mint)
Alife– white everywhere (reminds me of the scene from Willy Wonka when Mike Teavee the cowboy kid shrinks, and they’re all in that white room looking at him in the black tv) except for the neon Nike dunks, classic Reeboks and other kicks lining the walls
Hennessey + Ingalls — claims to be THE biggest art/​architecture bookstore in the West. Definitely sweet, so take your time and peruse around

Gallery Space — self-​explanatory, smaller than I expected but currently housing Lauren Dukoff’s kickass photos from her new book, Family, for a month.

Speaking of Dukoff, the other weekend, I went here for the book launch, gallery showing and FREE Devendra Banhart show. Banhart played in the courtyard on the small concrete stage. It was perfect.

Street parking is available, but if you plan on hanging out in the area for awhile, park in the $ 4 flat rate garage next to Hotel Café which is up the street still on Cahuenga.

10’s of millions per piece! Jackson Pollock is an
American painter who modernized how we see art.
Pollock painted in the 40’s w/​o using a brush stroke.
Instead he spilled, splashed and dripped on canvas.
Space 15 Twenty is a nice spot to view film outdoors.
