Social Security Office

This place gets a 1. No parking. The seats are way to close together. I can’t wait to get the hell out of here. I feel like I can catch a disease just being here. I wish there was a way to have changed my last name to my new married name another way but of course there is not and I had to come into the office. I got Q71 and they are serving Q60:(this is torture.

Very organized and friendly staff. The waiting line wasn’t that bad. It took about 45 minutes for me to get everything done.

Wow! Never noticed this location until I needed it. Thanks to Unilocal,I was in and out within less than an hour! I needed to get a new social after the wedding and it’s a nice clean (quiet) place with easy parking and again, I was in and out within an hour without an appointment.
The most awesome part was, I walked-​in on a Friday and got my new social by the following TUESDAY!!! Talk about fast and convenient service! They do tell you the standard 7 – 14 business day turn around but, I was surprised how fast their processing times are!

I might be the only person in the world giving a government office 5 stars. But honestly my experience here was worth it.
I’m in the process of changing my last name. I had all my documents and headed to this office. It has a nice sized lot so easily found a spot to park.
When I walked in the building there is an officer standing there to greet you. He directs you to a kiosk machine to be assigned a number. If you don’t understand how to use it, he helps you. He then kindly pointed out where the rest rooms were and told me to grab a seat anywhere. He also nicely told me my wait time based on how many people were in the waiting area. Which proved to be right.
The place was packed. But people were quiet and polite. The flow seemed to be moving really fast. My number as called and the nice woman quickly and efficiently asked me questions and finished my name change. Absolutely painless. And again, polite!
I would go to this location again should I ever need their services :)

Wow… Very slow line… I am behind number a974 and that number is stuck since 1:02 pm. Its now exactly 1:30… I wish i knew the line is that slow at this place…
1:45 still waiting and i went around to see whether the staff is doing anything and saw several of them weren’t… And i found out that it’s a lunch time, but they’re taking turns…

Wasn’t bad got to the place right when it opened and only waited an hour! I consider that fast for a government office! Friendly staff clean building! No one likes going to these places but not a horrible experience

I was expecting to be here for hours and to receive horrible service, but I was pleasantly surprised! I came in, without an appt, to have my name changed. I was seen in about 40 minutes and was out 5 minutes later. The lady that helped me was very friendly and informative. =)

I dreaded going to Social Security in my pregant condition, but it had to be done, so I went. Here’s a really good tip– GO ON A FRIDAY! I went abouy 10:30 am and there was hardly a line. We got in the door and seated within 20 minutes. Parking was horrible and I had to walk for 2 minutes. I know because I timed it. and no one walks in LA… but other than that the wait was not bad at all. Once inside I panicked because I realized I forgot a document.
Once they called my number, they confirmed I would need forgotten document, and the teller, I forget her name– was so sweet. She asked me if I lived close I could go get it and come right back. I wouldn’t have to wait! WHAT? I expected this to be like the DMV — where they would judge me, and make me cry. None of that here. I rushed home and grabbed said document and they saw me right away.
The total time I spent only because I had to drive back to my house which was about 15 minutes or so away for a total of 45 wasted minutes due to my fault came to approximately 3.5 hours. Not bad!
Bathroom was very clean to which is a plus, because I hate public restrooms, but since I am with child, I do not make the rules of this body. The baby does.
It is a good idea to go early but if you don’t, I wouldn’t stress. I went late on a Friday and It was not bad at all.

I tried to come to this Social Security office twice for a name change. Once I went late in the day (1:30 pm) and once I came 1.5 hours before they opened. Both times they estimated that the wait time was over 4 hours. I’d say to avoid this office at all costs.

This place is insane ! Worst than Winnetka DMV. Didn’t they just re open this place to make it more efficient and bigger?

Make an appointment… For the love of God, make an appointment… There seems to be like 3 windows open to help people and a line out the door. The workers are slow and at times incompetent. Be prepared to show them documents and be absolutely sure you double check their work. They fuck up a lot…

I really hate this place I waited 3 hours came here To turn in some papers for my fiancé I had all the papers I needed but this lady didn’t even bother in looking at the information and wanted a signature of the same paper I already had. She was in booth 8 and she’s blonde good luck with her because she was no help for me all she cared about was going home.

Got here at 8:15am and there were about 7 people waiting already. Make sure u come early if u want to get in early. We came for a name change for my new bride. We were in and out in about 25 minutes. Good luck if you need to come any later.

If I can give this place a 0, I would. Rude workers from security to office staff. What’s up with Government workers as if they are above eveyone else. I’m not here for welfare but a replacement card and these whatever you call them brushes you off just to ask a simple question like I was begging for a hand out. Bad bad experience.

Very fast! I came in at 2:40, got my number and before I was finished with the form I had to fill out, I was called! The woman helping me was very kind and answered all my questions happily. Great customer service!

I got there at 8:30 am and waited till 9am and finally was called at 10:45am. It went well the only thing that I don’t like is that I have to now miss another day of work to go to the DMV to follow up with my name change. Social Security office doesn’t connect/​link your new information right away, you have to wait a day.

Definitely come before they open and wait in line cuz the line is always out the door!
The De Soto location is now closed (and gated and all grafiti’d up) I found this location from the website and came ahead of time since I knew the line would be out the door. What’s nice about this location is they have someone at the kiosk asking youwhat you need as soon as you walk in so you get a number for the right issue. I got a Q number for getting a new or replacement social security card. The place opened at 9 am and I was out of there by 10:20. Luckily i brought a good book to keep me company.
Do bring a book and be prepared to wait and wait some more. :)
