Specialties

Silverlake Community Church is a community of diverse believers and followers of Jesus Christ.

History

Established in 1926.

July 11, 1926

The Ivanhoe Community Church was established with a charter membership of 24. During these early years, the church met in various people’s homes and community halls in the Silver Lake area. Eventually they rented space from the Hollywood YMCA, for the fee of $ 15. per month (later raised to $ 25).

Feb 1, 1948

The name of the church was changed to Silverlake Community Church, and a month later purchased the property where the church now sits. At an approximate cost of $ 60,000, the Sanctuary and two classrooms were constructed and the first services were held in the existing sanctuary on February 6, 1949.

Since that time our campus has grown into a community of diverse believers who know that Jesus Christ is Lord and we strive be a beacon of hope to the community we serve.
