Sierra Pacific Design Ponds and Waterfalls

My wife wanted to redo the pond in her backyard. She looked around and settled on Jaime. He arrived with his portfolio and the photos were very impressive. He claimed (which I haven’t been able to verify) to have put in the ponds and waterworks in the Bellagio in Las Vegas. My wife agreed and paid right around $ 10K for the pond and waterfalls. He assured us that if we ever needed anything to call him. The first time we called, shortly after installation, was due to a similar understanding leak in the liner. It took an Act of God to get him out here. The next time was for the pump (all of this occurred in less than six weeks. He tried to make excuses, but after an extended argument over the phone, they came out and did minimal work. Shortly after that the underwater lights went out. When I called on that, he told me that that was our problem. So I asked if he is had a map of where the lights were located on the bottom of the pond. He said that no such map was made. Needless to say our lights have been out for over 5 years.
The other point that makes me question their honesty and integrity is that the address given here is not where they’re located. I worked as a pharmacist in the same strip mall. It used to be a Blockbuster and is now a bank.
They have zero in work ethic and I could not recommend this company with a clear conscience.
If you want a pond and waterfall, do not use this company.

We had a fantastic experience working with Jamie, Ginger and the Sierra Pacific Design crew. After speaking with another contractor, we decided to hire Sierra Pacific Design to install an 11×7 foot koi pond in our backyard. While the other contractor instructed us to hire a designer to draw plans up for our backyard, Jamie took the time to explain how he would lay out the koi pond, the waterfall and the stream. He even sketched it out right there on the spot, along with artistic touches like spotlights and LED lights. The result was absolutely breathtaking. We cherish our pond and love watching our koi fish swim and play in the waterfall. We were particularly impressed with the crew. It took them only 2 and a half days to complete the pond, and the crew’s attention to detail was impressive (they installed a fish cave for the koi to hide, they made sure the waterfall faced our living room so we could enjoy it, they repositioned a boulder so I could sit on it while looking at the pond, etc.). I appreciated how they took the time to patiently answer my countless questions, and they always came to work with a good attitude and a detailed game plan for the day. They even let us know when they were turning on the waterfall so my wife and I could come outside and see the water cascade over the rocks for the first time. They then took an extra step to treat the pond to minimize the water’s chemicals and allow the ecosystem to start developing. The entire experience surpassed our expectations. We have already begun recommending Sierra Pacific Design to our friends and am sure your experience will be just as good as ours.

Awesome company and awesome people! I have two ponds and a stream built by them in 2006. Their work was so fast and my yard went from a boring land patch to «Topanga «in the heart of the city. This is the gift that keeps on giving. Each day I get major enjoyment and «zen» therapy. overlooking the ponds and lilypads and I love the dragonflies and birds and wildlife that come… and my pets drink from the stream… truly paradise! Thank you Jamie and Ginger for all the years of happiness the water features have given me and my friends.

Our initial contact with Sierra Pacific Design was Jamie Schevers. Jamie came to our home, examined our existing pond and offered some ideas for improvement .
We agreed on pond size of roughly 8 feet by 10 feet with a short stream and a couple of small waterfalls. The exact shape and size would be determined during excavation and design. We scheduled the work to begin on Thursday (1 week later) and it was to be completed in two days, which it was. Jamie arrived Thursday morning with a crew of 3 additional workers. He had the pond liner, pump and all supplies with him and the rocks were delivered that same day.
The rough shape of the pond was excavated and the old pond liner was removed. Jamie carefully moved my koi to a temporary pond liner until completion of the work. I was impressed with all the things that his team did automatically without any prompting from me. After the excavation was completed, the skimmer was positioned and leveled as well as the upper Biofalls filter. The entire pond was lined with an underlayment and a professional grade flexible pond liner. Large rocks were positioned around the inner walls of the pond and two small waterfalls were designed midstream between the Biofalls filter and the lower pond. Large rocks were positioned first with smaller rocks filled in for stability. They created a deep cave for my fish to hide in and seek protection from predators (birds and raccoons). Underwater lights (LEDs) were also positioned. An automatic fill valve was installed in the skimmer that was plumbed into my existing water supply to insure the water level is constant.
After the pond was filled and everything was confirmed to be functioning properly, they used more rocks to build up a raised planter bed around the waterfall and planted a variety of plants all around. A few plants were even anchored in small nooks in the pond (as of this writing, 3 months have gone by and they are doing great). Additional low voltage lights were positioned throughout the area to highlight different parts of the pond, including waterfalls and plants. It all looks great.
The entire team was considerate and respectful. They cleaned up at the end of each day and were careful not to trample any of our existing plants or landscape. Even the truck driver who dumped the rocks on our driveway was careful not to drive over the corner of grass at the end of our driveway. I am very pleased with the quality of work Sierra Pacific Design provided and the professionalism exhibited by the entire crew. Jamie was always available, either in person or by phone. I recommend Sierra Pacific Design. These guys are great! These guys did everything the right way without having to be told. A+

I must say I am really disappointed by Jamie and his work ethic. I hired him to design and create a waterfall on my back hillside two years ago and although I thought he did a great job he was very pricey. I have been having technical problems with one of the waterfalls and called him to see if he could come help me troubleshoot the problem. When he learned that I was not interested in hiring him for a new water feature and that I needed him to service his original work with me he became very disinterested and blew me off. He told me he was too busy that week and would come out the following week. Well that never happened (big surprise)!! I even recommended him to my neighbor who hired him earlier this year to create the same waterfall in their yard and he still blows me off! I spent alot of money and I was told he would make himself available should a problem ever arise. .. I do not think it is my responsibility as a consumer to chase down the vendor to fix their product. So needless to say while I think he creates great waterfalls I think he needs to reevaluate customer service!!!

I have referred Sierra Pacific Design to several of my clients to create back yard ponds and waterfalls and they are all thrilled! Jamie has great design ideas and attention to detail. His team works very well together and are such a pleasure to work with!

I recently hired Sierra Pacific Landscape to design and build a waterfall and stream in my backyard. The company was very easy to work with, Jamie is incredibly talented at design, and his crew has worked together for years and knows exactly what to do. Ask to see Jamie’s portfolios or check them out on his web site. I visited several jobs he had done and they were all beautiful. Sierra Pacific is the best builder of residential waterscapes.
I suggest you have a landscape designer selected and have that person to meet with Jamie in developing plans. Jamie likes to do primarily water features hence the need for another design company if the rest of the area is being redone.

Few months ago, I decided to have a pond in my backyard. After a bit of research, I came across Sierra Pacific. They came to my backyard and gave me a design idea and a quote. It took few days, and we had a pond in the backyard with waterfalls, water drops, streams and pond. It took few days for the biological filter and the water to get established. First I added gold fish, and then Koi fish.
Things I learned:
1. Make it as large as you can the first time. (I wish mine was deeper and bigger!)
2. Make sure water circulate in every corner of the pond. If not, add waterfall or stream. (I have to do modification after the pond was finished. It cost you more to do modification after the pond is done)
3. Have a bottom drain and skimmer. That helps keeping the water clean more effectively. (I do not have one, and I am not happy about that)
4. Once the pond is finished, let the system get established. Do not clean the filters, and do not add chemicals. The water will go through stages. It gets muddy, green, clear, cloudy and clear. Be patient. This is a self contained ecosystem. I was cleaning the filter in the skimmer every day till one one my neighbors told me to stop!
What I like about Sierra Pacific is that their design and the final product is very natural. People tell me that it seems my pond has been there forever, and it looks like a natural pond and not a man made pond.
Now, I spend hours and hours in my backyard next to my pond, and I get a chance to unwind and relax.
I strongly recommend Sierra Pacific, if you are interested in building a pond in your patio or backyard.
