Shekinah Garner Makeup Artist

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Shekinah and she is honestly one of the most talented artists I’ve had the pleasure of working with. She’s punctual, creative, and extremely sweet. She can physically manifest any artistic vision. I recommend her for future projects.

Shekinah is amazing!!! After reading glowing reviews about her on Unilocal and seeing pics of her beautiful work, I sent her a text to make an appt for makeup during Halloween weekend. She responded very quickly and I was able to book an appt for her to come to my place to transform me into a Stars & the Moon Goddess for Halloween.
Prior to my appt, I sent her several pics via text of my costume pieces and some inspirational starry night makeup. And during the days before my appt, she also sent me some inspirational pics and ideas when she would run across some as well. She was on time and meticulous in her makeup application.
Also, I must note that this is the first time that a makeup artist has been able to apply my eye makeup to make my eyes look bigger and pop… I’m half Asian and in the past, all makeup artists I’ve been to have not been able to apply my eye makeup to bring out my eyes.
I received countless compliments on my makeup all night… it really did make my costume over the top. And my makeup, from the airbrush foundation, to my eye makeup, lashes and jewels didn’t move all night. I only needed touch up my lip gloss. I accidentally fell asleep with my makeup on and when I woke up, my makeup was still flawless lol. Thank you Shekinah!!!

Shekinah was a great communicator and got right back to me about doing my make-​up for Halloween. Putting down my deposit to secure my spot was super easy. And she event sent pictures of where to enter the parking facility when others had trouble finding it (very thoughtful). But most of all, her makeup was on point! In about an hour she transformed me into a glamorous «Dia de los Muertos.» And the makeup lasted until the wee hours of the morning (almost 15 hours after our session). I got endless compliments from women and men the whole evening, and the photographs were stunning. Will absolutely book her again!

Again for halloween I asked her for my pop art (Roy Liechenstein character from the comics) make-​up.
I was again impressed by her talent, my friend and I were a great success thanks to the amazing make-​up, which was all the costume itself with a wig, since the outfits were normal ones. I was already a admirer of her other works, now I am definitely a fan!

I have worked beside Shekinah on multiple occasions and she is such a joy to be around! She is so sweet, a very hard worker, and obviously very talented. She is incredible at both beauty and costume makeup, knowledgeable about products and skin care, and super reliable. I would highly recommend booking her for any occasion!

Shekinah is the best makeup artist I have ever worked with and experienced! She is excellent at what she does. She is professional, pleasant and skilled. Next time I’m in LA will will be calling her to get my makeup done!

Shekinah is the most talented and professional make up artist i know. Ive known her since i moved to LA 3 years ago and she has been the go to make up artist for me and all of my girlfriends ever since. From photoshoots, to red carpets and also amazing at eyebrows facials and airbrush make up which makes you look flawless and amazing! She is super creative and keeps up w current make up trends. Not to mention an absolute sweetheart. Shes very accomodating and will come to you and is great about sqeezing in last min appts. Shekinah is undoubtedly one of the best in the biz and I highly reccomend her for all of your make up and skin care needs!

Shekinah is such a beautiful soul. I had the pleasure of working with her and not only is she amazing at her task, but is such an amazing human being! I would recommend her time and time again. Shekinah is by far one of the best makeup artists I’ve had the pleasure of doing my makeup! She is so talented and always does such a flawless job. She’s also one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. I always get so many compliments on my makeup when Shekinah does it. I absolutely love her!

I was skeptical at first because I am Asian and I have been to other American places to do makeup, and they usually don’t do justice to Asian eyes. However, I was amazed at how Shekinah can use eyeshadow to make my eyes look much bigger:)
She is a true artist that can work on many different types of eyes and faces.
The makeup lasted a very long time. I had it done at 1:30pm and my eye makeup was still looking super fresh later that night:)

Where do I start… lets take it from the top
I’m a 55 year old gentleman for Canada who was lucky enough to get and invitation the Playboy Mansion Halloween 2014 Party, not really knowing what to expect or for that matter where to turn to for help and advice I contacted Shekinah through Unilocal and was pleasantly surprised when she replied, I only say that because she was 1 of 3 people/​make up artists that I contacted that day through Unilocal and she was the only one that replied. Little did I know that I would soon be meeting the most beautiful talented artist I have ever had the experience of working with. It was like she wanted to be there for me, it wasn’t a job to her it was/​is a passion, she truly loves what she does and does it well.
She worked tirelessly walking through costume stores and rental warehouses and climbing ladders to get to the costumes on the top rack near the ceiling because she honestly cared about what she wanted her client (me) to look like for the occasion.
Shekinah transformed me with prosthetics and make up and glue and air brushing and combing into a true masterpiece. To put it honestly, she awed the crowd that night even though she wasn’t there physically she was present through the work she does and it showed.
Not sure how may of you have been to the Playboy Mansion before but even though this was my first time I could tell that it was quite normal for the guys to ask the girls if they could have their picture taken with them, well thanks to Shekinah, it was the girls asking me if they could have their picture taken with me, serious, sometimes there was even a line up or sometimes they were so scared of the realism of the makeup they moved to the other side of the room.
No words can express my appreciation for what Shekinah did for me that night, she is truly one of a kind.

This girl is amazing! Not only is she a total sweetheart and kind individual, but a girl who knows her stuff. I arranged my appointment with her for Halloween two months in advance, because I knew she would be busy around then. During the time leading up to the appointment she frequently communicated with me about the look I was trying to achieve (it was a costume party) and offered suggestions.
Shekinah helped me with a Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) look that was STUNNING! During my appointment, she was awesome! She had a variety of stencils and lashes and rhinestones to complete the look. Her work was exceptional and I received complements ALL night. Everyone was in awe of her artistry! I even won the costume contest that night.
Furthermore, we talked skincare the whole time and she certainly knows her stuff! Thank you Shekinah for making my Halloween look so much cooler than I had imagined– you’re amazing!

Shekinah is an absolute sweetheart who loves what she does and it shows! I’ve gone to her for facials, waxing, and make-​up and she’s always done a fabulous job! She listens to what you want, doesn’t try to push anything on you you’re not comfortable with, and makes sure you’re happy with the results! She is also very accommodating and has even come to my place to wax me. I highly recommend Shekinah for all your beauty needs!

Shekinah is a true artist. Her passion and work ethics speaks for itself. She is extremely patient and thorough with her clients, which is important in the beauty industry. I can relate because I am an artist myself and when I need help on a job, she is my go to gal! Not only do we work together, but she’s my esthetician. My skin has never looked better! She goes the extra mile to make sure you look your best. Go to her for all of your beauty needs or she can come to you! I promise you will love her!

Shekinah has done my makeup for photo shoots, events, and I’ve gotten lessons from her. I’ve gotten my makeup done dozens of times, but no one does it as well as she does. Whatever the occasion, Shekinah always does a flawless job. I would recommend her to anyone i know. She is such a sweetheart and is so professional. If you ever need your makeup done or just need a personal lesson, I would definitely recommend her!

I took a make up lesson from Shekinah and it was amazing! I had a ton of questions about colors, brushes, day looks v night looks ect. She was so patient with me and made sure all my questions wear answered. Shekinah taught me how to apply makeup by having me watch her on one side of my face and then doing it myself on the other. I love my new looks :). She even taught me how to properly clean my brushes.

Shekinah taught me how to do make up. I opened up to her about how all my life I never knew how and how frustrated I was and she was compassionate and patient. I loved the looks she taught me and used them every day and night. She also taught me what to buy as I was clueless in that department too. We became friends and she is an incredible teacher and artist. Thank you Shekinah!

Shekinah did an absolutely AMAZING job on our Halloween make-​up! We corresponded prior to our appointment, discussing the looks we wanted to achieve and she executed exactly as we chatted. She made sure we loved everything before leaving and even gave my boyfriend some extra face paint in case he needed to reapply during the night. After our Halloween party she followed up, making sure everything went well! Shekinah is professional, personal and very easy to work with. I would highly recommend her!

Extremely impressed! I’m a perfectionist (almost to a fault) and Shekinah listened to what I wanted, I showed a few pictures and BAM she nailed the look I was going for which was to look beautiful. I received so many compliments from friends and strangers. This was the first time I had my make-​up done and didn’t alter a thing. Shekinah is the best and I will be using her each and every time I need my make-​up done.

I usually don’t like how I look when I have a lot of makeup artists do my make up it usually ends up being super light and not photo ready. Shekinah does my makeup for all my special events, because she knows how to make you look camera ready. Last Halloween she did full Day of the Dead make up on me and it was AMAZING! She even sets your make up and teaches you how to touch up your lips so your makeup rocks all night.
