History

Established in 2003.

Originally on west 3rd and now on Melrose since summer of 2013; Scout is known for relevant, directional, and inspirational vintage and designer clothing. Currently we primarily carry vintage clothing with a small selection of independent labels and our own Scout collection.

Scout is hands down the best clothing store for women in LA. I would say it’s the best vintage store but it goes beyond that for me and it is simply the best store. It has the best curated selection from designer vintage like Comme des Garcons, Margiela and so much more to non designer pieces that are also amazing. Pretty much my entire wardrobe is from there. And I live in their vintage overdyed sweatshirts and t-​shirts. It has everything from pieces you can wear everyday to statement pieces, all of which you’ll have forever. It’s also a beautiful store and everyone who works there is super friendly. When I lived in NY I bought pieces from their web store which has a great selection too.
I’ve also sold to the owner Joey as well and he gives you a really good and fair price.
It is an absolute must!

Scout is by far the best vintage store on the planet. I really mean that. I have a passion for finding vintage pieces no matter where I am in the world. When I travel, I always seek out a cool vintage store, Joey has created the best store with the coolest pieces. You will never find a store like this anywhere! His taste in vintage is perfection. Scout is a fashion institution for people in the know. Owner Joey Grana has the best taste in town and has created a space of carefully curated treasures. I have shopped here for years and without a doubt all of my favorite and most prized pieces have come from Scout.
Also if you happen to have some vintage gems that don’t work for you anymore, he’ll happily take them off your hands and give them a new life.

I’ve been shopping at Scout for years now and it’s really hard to shop anywhere else. Not only do they carry amazing designer vintage for extremely fair prices but the silhouettes and overall curation of their selection is next level. I can’t even think of a store to compare Scout to.
They get new pieces in pretty much every day, it seems– which keeps me coming back for more. The people who work in the shop are very honest and friendly/​sweet, I never feel pressure to buy anything I try on. And if something isn’t right for me they won’t lie and say I look «stunning» in it like some salespeople do.
Also the owner has sold some vintage pieces from my own collection, so if you have any gems sitting in your closet that need a new home this is the place to take them.

I’ve known and loved Joey Grana and his chic store, Scout, forever… I’ve enjoyed at least a decade of Scout-​mania. His eye is impeccable, his taste is enchanting, and I always find the most distinctive, quirky, glamorous, avant-​garde, tasty pieces in his store… He has an unparalleled knowledge of fashion history and so many pieces he’s found for the store make me laugh with delight! I consider him a major go-​to collaborator when I am designing costumes because he is so intuitive in finding just the right thing. I’m obsessed. Scout is my secret weapon.

Scout has for years been a not so hidden gem on the LA vintage scene. The owner is beyond knowledgeable about vintage and has a great eye.
Many trends are started from these racks! Also the owner is always looking for treasures, so it’s a great place to give your special pieces new life.
