Ross Dress for Less

This is the only Ross I go to as it’s close to my house so I come here rather often. They have a good variety of merchandise and I like that they often have good deals on nice shoes. My annoyance with this location is the loss prevention people; they’re always yelling at you interrupting your conversation when you walk through the door, what the he’ll is that? Didn’t their mothers teach them not to interrupt people while they’re taking?

I occasionally come to this Ross location, though I rarely find things to purchase. I’ve been lucky to find some things here.
For the record: The thing I have against the Ross stores I’ve visited (I’ve been to several in the West L.A. area) is that the security tag put on on some garments and shoes don’t truly allow you try on the items (the security tags are put on in a way where you can’t try on some garments or shoes in-​store).

Man, this Ross was such a cool place initially, but then some of the associates (not all), made it horrific for me to even buy anything!
Jesus, this Latino guy at the cash register was cool & so were the black ladies who were nothing but helpful to me. Being Asian, I am sensitive to being treated fairly and respectfully. All of them allowed me to try on the shoes by removing the sensor, but the other woman was super mean and adamantly said «no». I mean, how am I supposed to buy shoes if I don’t know how they would fit on me?
But the last straw was the guy with the dreads. My mom bought a ton of stuff and I was just about to buy these sneakers and facial wipes but he said I would have to go back in line. Are you kidding me when my mom just bought a whole cart of stuff?
The service sucked & I just couldn’t bring myself to buy anything even though the stuff was a bargain.
I am not sure if I would come back to shop again. Maybe if the other workers help me, but definitely not the people with ATTITUDE…

This location is messy and out of order with organization. They’re just so busy that they can’t keep up with the guests who come and rummage shop here. It looks like they are understaffed so they’re not able to keep tidy. Shoe section is a total mess and lacking selection. Racks are more empty than full.
It is one of those places you go if there are no other locations for another 10 miles. Otherwise, I’d recommend driving to another nearby location.

Went there only for home stuff… they had what I needed plus a good selection to sift through.

I can always count on Ross to find affordable yet wonderful pieces to decorate my apartment with!
The staff at this particular Ross location was also quite nice and helpful.

I can’t think of a single good thing to say about this store, other than the fact that the cashier was nice. That’s it. It was dirty (sticky stuff on the floor), unorganized, chaotic, small selection of everything, merchandise all over the floor, etc. I can’t even say who is to blame for this. Have the employees given up because the customers tear up the store and don’t give a shit? Or do the customers throw clothes on the floor, destroy the toy department and spill stuff without cleaning it up because the store is poorly run? Chicken and egg argument I guess. In any event, Ross management and corporate should be embarrassed about this store.

I came here a week ago perfect place to go after work and no no need to go through traffic to go shopping. Well i should’ve gone somewhere else and invested my time to travel, because this place is a mess. Not many retailer to help you with. Not many good items to find. You really have to dig find things you need. Some items looked used.nonono.Anyway, i did find a black trendy and classy calvin Klein sweater hidden away that only Cost $ 22. Now that’s a deal! So that s why i gave it a 3. Price is reasonable if you find something you like.

If there is a 0 (zero) star I would definitely give this store «none.» The cashier named Rafaela is so mean and rude. She doesn’t even know how to apologize when she made a mistake punching our purchased items twice.
She charged us $ 29.95 two times for a damaged bag. She didn’t even acknowledge her mistake, and showed her strong personality, made it look like it was our mistake. Then she started speaking in her native language that I could not understand.
There were other customers in line, she made us look like we’re begging for her kind attention. She was searching the inside of each bags, but she was doing it wrong. So we have to advise her that its better for her if she’ll remove all the papers so she can see the inside of the bag much easily and be able to check if there were any small items hiding inside.
I have to patiently ask her to speak in English so I could understand what she was talking about with her colleagues. The other sales assistant we talked to gave us an additional 10% discount for a damaged bag that my mom liked so much that even if the side of the bag’s faux leather was a bit chipped we still would want to buy it.
But this lady, with a badge named Rafaela pinned on her shirt, insisted that if we buy that purse we would not be able to return it anymore. Like I said, the first sales clerk we talked to about the 10% discount didn’t mention to us the restrictions, so we were surprised to hear that Rafaela was insisting or should I say forcing us to agree that if we buy the damaged bag they will not accept it as a return item later.
We don’t have any plans of returning any items we were about to purchase, but with the way Rafaela talked to us — it was so demeaning, I don’t want to buy any of the items anymore. If not for the way she treated us badly, I would have not written this review. She made us feel that we don’t have the money to pay for the items just coz we were not wearing anything fancy.
Then, as soon as we are to leave the place, the alarm went off ‘coz she forgot to remove one of the sensors from the bag. How many more times is she going to put us in an embarassing situation? Again, she didn’t apologize for her shortcoming; and she made it look like it was our fault again when she talked to her coworker (or store manager) standing by the cashier area.
Both of them don’t know how to treat customers with good service. It is not fair that just ‘coz we don’t speak the same language as hers or we didn’t come from her native country that she has the right to treat us so badly. We are good and loyal customers of Ross, so we should be treated nicely and with respect. Where is the proper customer service at this Ross’ location?
I hope Ross management in La Cienega will do something about this. Send cashier’s like Rafaela to an orientation or training on how to treat customers with respect and not to display any signs of being bias. We will never come back to this Ross again, never ever!!! If you don’t want to ruin your day and meet disrespectful cashier, I warn you not to visit this place.
Don’t pay attention to this Ross franchise, theres not really much to see and buy in this place. Not a good Ross! Beware of this place. Though, if you cant help but pass by, when you purchase any items, please, please don’t forget to check your receipts several times as the cashier may over charge you for your items.
Be wise, and demand for good customer service. We deserve it!!!

I like this Ross, it is one of my favorites. Just be sure the cashier hands you your
receipt, mine didn’t today. I thought they put it in my bag, but that was a big mis–
take!!! Now I can’t find my reciept anywhere and of course I need to return a few things. I sure hope I don’t have any problems, but I paid cash, so will have to get
store credit and if they are on sale I am screwed.

I just want to say I love Ross, but all Ross’ are not created equally. I can rarely find a good assortment here, I never thought I’d see a bare Ross, but they’ve managed to do it, the store is pretty bare. Why are they renting such a large space for if they aren’t going to utilize it?

I walked in and walked out. I usually buy something cool or useful at this store, but this time I did not. There was nothing good in there. The shoes were all ugly. The clothes were ugly too. I walked around the whole store hoping I’d find something I like. I looked at accessories, hats, comforters, pictures and picture frames, etc. This Ross seemed like it was beyond the reject store, sad to say. I mean, it wasn’t too too bad, but it definitely wasn’t the best that I’ve been to.

So, I’m not usually a fan of Ross because it is usually disorganized. This Ross was very clean and looked really nice. It was a lot bigger than it looked from the outside too. I was here to shop for kitchen supplies. I found really great buys including a Lenox set I’d been eyeing for an unbeatable price! They also had a vegetable peeler that was $ 6 more at the Target upstairs (a big price difference for that kind of an item).
The sales people were also nice and helpful.
However, some of the stuff I saw for sale was broken which was kind of sad. There was also a box of something I really, really liked but it was just an empty box and the product was nowhere to be found. But I guess at a discount store like this things like that are to be expected. I would come here again but need to remember to shop at my own risk and inspect everything before purchasing it. It wasn’t busy on a Tuesday night either. I did not have to wait in line to buy my items.
The return/​exchange policy here isn’t great. I had to exchange a gift and they wanted a gift receipt but the gift givers didn’t give me one. The tags were on the box and the box was sealed. They said they had to give me the lowest price on the item which was okay by me for this purchase because I found something really great that I wanted to exchange it for and it fit the price range and the item was worth way more than it was selling for. However, with the tags and the sealed box, returning/​exchanging should be way easier. They should be able to scan the tag and know the amount of the item.
I really liked this Ross. I would definitely come back for some great deals. Plus, I love all the other discount stores surrounding it. Shopping in the Beverly Connection is like going to an outlet mall.

They have cute clothes that are out of season. It’s winter and I went here to buy a jacket and all they had were thin sweaters. It’s bad enough their adult size clothes are rearranged on both sides of the store. Their women’s panties and bras section is out of order and they never seem to carry sizes for small chest women like myself.

This Ross has some so-​so reviews from before, but I think people should check in again… They have improved a lot in the last 6 months! I sometimes stop in on my way to visit a friend who lives right there and this Ross has some great finds. The clothes are nothing to write home about, but you can get really nice accent furniture, pictures for your wall, picture frames, dinnerware, etc for very cheap! I would say go on a weekday, it’s a zoo on the weekends. Worth a trip!

Yikes, you should’ve seen my Stag film. Wait — I don’t mean porn film, I mean the layer of oi dirt, and dust on the Stag brand shoes I bought here at this Ross… yeah, it’s not the cleanest Ross I’ve been to. But it was OK because the Soft Stag shoes retail for $ 50 and I got it for $ 25. I rarely find my size here, but there it was… fingerprints galore and dusty, but brand spanking new. Lots of cushion, wide enough for my wide forefoot (say that 3 times!) and it was a bargain.
I went at lunch time on a Wednesday. The parking is difficult at this complex during peak times. This chain of discount goods is hugely popular, so of course the weekends are going to be nuts, especially here in LA. But this particular store, despite the large square footage, has the smallest selection of men’s clothing percentage wise to the other departments. The athletic apparel selection was especially bleak. And Ross has national ads about their sweater sale event. Hardly any sweaters at all, not like the other Ross Stores I’ve been to recently.
Some old school decent colognes were a good deal, like the 2.4 oz. Claiborne Curve for $ 17. Not too many of the newer, more complex men’s fragrances/​But these are good gifts for the over 30 crowd that used them in their heyday about 10 or more years ago. This time of year (mid November) they’re putting out lots of electronic accessories like laptop speakers and headphones at a discount.
The line was cyclical…2 customer one minute, and 10 the next with one cashier. But while waiting in line, I did get to answer a few emails on my Blackberry. So this was a good way to pass the time at lunch. Saving money on something I need is never bad.

I was on the hunt for some socks, and my usual spot no longer sells the brand that I like. I spotted this Ross location and thought I would give it a shot and see what they got.
As I walked inside it appeared to be average sized. The aisles were very wide and spacious compared to other Ross’s I have been to, but it may just be because this particular location doesn’t have a lot of product. The Men’s section was especially bare, and I had a hard time finding some decent socks. When I finally found what I was looking for, they all appeared to be dirty and looked like they had been used to dust the counters. I found a decent pack, dusted them off, and was on my way to the register. The line was a bit long, but moved quickly.
This Ross does not have a lot in the Men’s section. It is also not very clean. I will most likely not visit this location again since there are other discount stores in the area with more merchandise for Men and with a cleaner overall appearance.

Based on the other reviews it looks like this place is a hit or miss.
I LOVE ross. I expect Ross (and any store) to be packed and messy on weekends so i plan my shopping on Weekdays. I’ve been to this place about 4 – 5 times, each time during my lunch break or after 6pm on weekday nights. Its always clean and the Aisles are HUGE.
They dont seem to carry a lot of anything but everytime i go i end up finding just what i was looking for (like a reduced plant pot for $ 1.50 or a $ 100 dress for $ 25).
Anyway, the lines (at the times i go) are short or non-​existent. Its clean and makes me happy to shop there.

I should own stock in Ross, I shop there so often.
However, I have a problem with this particular store. After being absent from it for over a year, I returned this evening only to remember why I avoided this location.
The place is ALWAYS a mess. True, most Ross stores aren’t picture perfect, and most are untidy. But the La Cienega/​18^th st. location brings a new meaning to «disaster.» It is so bad you can’t even get a shopping cart down most aisles.
The lines. OMG. How can you have 57people in line and only 3 registers (2 of them being «returns only) open ON A SATURDAY NIGHt?
And lastly, and the biggest caveat: the shopping carts do not go past the door. This sucks if you are taking advantage of their «deep discounts» and have a cart (or two, in my case) of rugs, large toys in addition to my own 2-​yr old to carry/​cart.
TO ROSS MANAGEMENT: After braving your war-​torn aisles, standing in line for nearly 30 minutes and then being told that I can’t take my $ 200 of merchandise to my car with a cart, that I’d have to «carry everything» including the 4 hall rugs by myself, I will now consider TJ Maxx & Marshalls for the rest of my holiday & future shopping. Shame on you.

This place is jam packed on the weekends. Warning! If you hate crowds, people, crying kids, disorganization, and weirdos stay away from this place on the weekends.
I had to ask the fitting room girl to get a manager 3 times so I could ask a question about luggage. Finally, the other girl from the fitting room came out and answered my question– and might I add the b*&^H was completely irritated because she all of a sudden had to work.
You can’t move because there is so much clutter from human beings who were raised by wolves leaving clothes, art, luggage, shoes and their kids in the middle of the floor. Really people do you treat your own home like that? If you do, your disgusting and should stay home.
Other than the annoyances of everything I mentioned above, I am sure on a weekday the crowds wont be half as large– and the employees might be more considerate.
