Kinda random reviewing a liquor store but hey why not? I prefer going here instead of 7 – 11 or a gas station convenience store for my liquor needs. I’m always in and out in less than a minute. Super no-nonsense y’all!

Well, it’s quite simple. We had an elite event next door. I was curious as to whether the sodas we were having at the event went well with vodka. With Katie B’s permission, I went to this venue to snag a bottle of sky vodka, brought it over and voila. Grapefruit jarritos and vodka is amazing! The end.

This place has everything I need all within a block from me. The staff is friendly and they have lots of wines to choose from. I think I even won a dollar off a scratched here!

This liquor store is your typical small urban liquor store with a pretty basic selection of liquor. The lady working there was pleasant enough but there was nothing extraordinary about the service at the counter. Prices were about typical for liquor in Los Angeles. If you’re looking for your standard whiskey, rum, gin, or any other spirit for a fun night this will probably suit your needs but those of us looking for a wider selection of rarer wine and spirits will have to seek elsewhere.

Monday night, December 152008… The pitter patter of the rain finally settled, and the mist that clouded the plaza unveiled this monastery that sailed beneath the river of liquid courage. There it was, Quaker State Liquor. The door chimes upon my first step, where the wandering eyes began tailing my behind… «Can I help you?,» he asked as he wiped away his sorrows on the counter. «No, just browsing around,» I replied. 180mg of sodium on a half serving of Maruchan’s cup o noodles, hmm, thought it was 200. «Are you going to get that?,» a stranger said who smelled faintly of urine and a regurgitated fix of Mickey’s. «N…No, you want it?,» I said. «You buying?» the man replied. I walked towards the counter, shrugging behind the man and put my merchandise in front of the clerk. «Oh and this too please.» «Alvin, good meeting you man,» I said. I cracked open a bottle of Mickey’s and a refreshing steam of chicken soup and ramen warmed the man’s smile outside the store.

This place is right down the street from me. It’s just like every other liquor store but the folks in it appear very nice. What I like is the mural on their wall. It’s currently two pieces, one is cartoony and the other is very bright and abstract. I love the street art in this neighborhood, and the walls of this liquor store proudly feature some of the best(I posted pics of the current murals to the photo section of this business).

I don’t drink nor do I smoke but I go here often for my lottery scratchers, soda pop or whatever. Steve(owner) and Carlos(the employee) are very cool and good to tell ya a funny story. If there is something special u want they order it for u. They give out small town kindness in this big olé city!

I love this liquor store. Wait, perhaps I should rephrase that, as loving a liquor store might make people think I have a drinking problem… oh wait? Anyway. There are a zillion places to buy booze in this town, but few come with really cool kicked back personalities attached to them and a dude who’s usually so incredibly stoned and happy that it makes you wish you smoked the mary jane. Not that I’m saying he’s technically stoned, but let’s just say that’s how it seems and I love him for it. They also have a pretty decent selection of wines, both white and red and are maybe a buck or two more than the super market, but as far as convenience goes when you need to get your grubby little hands on a lottery ticket, a hostess cupcake, some beef jerkey, a spank it mag and a bottle of Chianti then this is a great stop.
