Best photographer ever! My good friend came back to NYC with AMAZING head shots that really stood out from the rest and flattered her. Two years later I moved to LA and went to Lorenzo Hodges for my new PR and head shots. I was blown away by how affordable they were considering Lorenzo’s work was SO much better than photographers in both LA and NYC. I HATE having my pic taken but Lorenzo managed to take the absolute best pics that I’ve ever had. I am constantly asked about my pics, both funny and serious and I cannot recommend Lorenzo highly enough. My husband went to him after seeing mine and again, the absolute best head shots he’s ever had taken.

If I could give Photography By Lorenzo more than 5 stars I would! My husband and I (as well as all or our family and friends) felt very lucky to have Lorenzo photograph my wedding in Chicago last New Years Eve. I had a few «pinterest-​type» inspiration ideas that Lorenzo was so supportive of my ideas and used his talents to help my vision come to life better than I ever could have dreamed. Our final photos were a perfect and beautiful collection of classic traditional shots and fun creative shots. So many of the photos ended up being «frame-​worthy», that I don’t know where to put them all! I couldn’t have asked for a better photographer. Lorenzo also worked harder than any wedding photographer I have ever seen– he was one of the first people to show up in my bridal suite in the morning and was still taking photos well past midnight. Just a few weeks after the wedding, Lorenzo prepared a beautiful slideshow keepsake of some of the wedding highlights (accompanied to the music of our first dance song, which added an extra special touch). I feel so thankful that I not only have beautiful BEAUTIFUL wedding photos, but also such wonderful memories of our wedding photographer as part of my memories from that special day. In the age of the digital camera it seems everyone thinks they are a photographer. But what makes a good photographer isn’t just having the right equipment and pushing the button. One actually has to know what they are doing and they need to know a little something about lighting and how to capture a meaning. What makes a great photo is seeing a story behind the eyes and seeing that person at their very best. As a mom of four I know how hard it is to get a good family shot let alone great pictures of all my kids individually. Lorenzo makes his subjects not only feel comfortable in front of the camera, they feel empowered to show their best expressions. He is kind, patient, and smart about his photography. He knows what will work for each person and doesn’t stop until he gets the best pictures. Go with Lorenzo and take the pressure off yourself!

I am a New Yorker who was going to LA for a 3-​month stint and desperately needed new head shots. There is certainly no drought of photographers in NYC, but Lorenzo came with the highest recommendation from my manager so I decided to book a session. Well, he BEYOND exceeded my expectations. Lorenzo immediately made me feel comfortable — it was as if I had known him for years. I had such a ball on the shoot resulting in very natural photos because I was so at ease. On top of that, I wound up with a vast selection of quality shots (and I am always my own worst critic) as we experimented with a variety of looks, locations and angles. I still think about that day and rave about Lorenzo to anyone who will listen! A session with Lorenzo is an extraordinary value: he is an extraordinary photographer AND an extraordinary human being. I have worked with Lorenzo twice. I would never go to anyone else. My first shoot was for a headshot and portfolio pics. The headshot from this shoot, that I have used for a few years, has gotten me countless compliments (I am not a vain, just want to hear myself talk Hollywood want-​to-​be, but good photography is essential for your business) and more importantly JOBS. I have had several hundred auditions because of my headshot. It got me in the door. His attention to light and surrounding is supernatural. He is professional, kind, funny, and a great person. My second shoot was a bit more daring. That said, Lorenzo made me feel comfortable and at ease. The swimwear and lingerie shots were extremely tasteful, classy, and had a richly cinematic essence-​old school beautiful set up and feel. The black and whites were amazing. He has beautiful settings around the LA area to set up the feel of the shoot.
His work is «bucket list» material-​even if you have no intention of using shots for work, just to have for yourself, or to give to a special someone… you cannot go wrong.

Love Lorenzo. I’ve always received amazing photos from him. Multiple looks for an incredibly fair price. In fact, one time he knew my hair wasn’t looking so great, so he called his hair/​make up gal and asked her to come help out just to make sure everything was perfect. That was above and beyond anything he needed to do.

Use this man. Let him make his suggestions, then follow said suggestions. You will not be disappointed!

My go to guy for more than a decade, Lorenzo has a knack for making me feel like me, not some off kilter and skewed version of me. My pics have always ended up honest in a way that allows industry pros to connect to me right away instead of wasting time getting past the discrepancies between photo and reality. Highly recommended this wonderful man.

Hands down the best. I have been in and around this business all my life. My grandfather is John Wayne. I have been blessed to see both sides of this business. There are plenty of Charlatans out there. LORENZO IS NOT ONE OF THEM. He is creative and spot on when given specific needs. He offers you more at his price point (and talent level) than any photographer out there. I have tried to venture to other studios (either because my representatives told me to or because I wanted to try something else) and none of them can play at his level. He cares about you and takes great pride in each individual he shoots. My grandfather would have had him on retainer if he were alive today.

This man is by far one of the best photographers in the city of Los Angeles not only is he amazing at his job but he also captures my extremely photogenic and bubbly personality. I cannot tell you how many times he’s made me feel like beautiful! Lorenzo is professional, kind, cute, courteous, funny, charming, witty, and he has gorgeous eyes that I could stare into all day. Seriously, his eyes are like the sun setting across a still sea, piercing through the open sky, brightening up you life around you as you look on in hope that one day he would save you from this wretched world you call home and whisk you away into the night to be loved and showered in gifts. I would give my life for this man as he has given me a new one! 5 out of 5! 100%

Lorenzo did my engagement photos! He was so amazing to work with! Had creative ideas, professional, on time, and we never felt rushed. We couldn’t be happier with how our photos turned out and I would absolutely recommend him to others and use him again! In fact, my husband used him for his head shot he needed for work.

I had previously shot with other photographers over the years when I was just dipping my toe into acting, but once I decided to get serious about it, I asked for career advice from an acquaintance of mine who is a retired A-​List casting director. Any casting director will tell you the power of a good headshot, and how it can mean landing an audition or not, so when I asked her if she had any photographers that she could recommend, I took it to heart when she said that unequivocally, I had to shoot with Lorenzo Hodges. I even ran his name by another old friend of mine who is a successful working actress and she also had nothing but great things to say about Lorenzo.
Having recently shot with him I can now wholeheartedly say that my friends were right. Not only are the images he produces top notch, but Lorenzo is quite frankly just a joy to be around. Because we played a little bit of phone tag getting a hold of each other, Lorenzo apologized graciously (but needlessly. This is LA. he’s a working professional and I wasn’t the easiest person to get a hold of either, phone tag happens) and humbly said «I swear I’m a good photographer, I’m just not always the world’s best business man». I would disagree because Lorenzo isn’t a «good» photographer, he is a GREAT photographer, and the substantial value that he provides for the money and how easy he is to work with make Lorenzo a pretty damn good businessman too.
Lorenzo’s website states that he will shoot 4 to 8 looks in a 3 to 3 ½ hour session. This was a severe underestimation on his part… he truly went above and beyond. I say this not just because when all was said and done we shot for 4 hours and 45 minutes and we got upwards of a dozen looks (I lost track after about 9)… but because the looks that we achieved required much more time and energy than the standard «okay, change clothes» setup that many photographers would count as being an entirely new look. For those of you who are tired of reading this review, just know that shooting with Lorenzo is one of the best, most proactive decisions that I have made for my acting career thus far.
But for those who want me to go into detail about what I alluded to in the previous paragraph, keep reading because this is only THE HALF-​WAY POINT IN MY REVIEW.
During our initial phone consultation, once I told Lorenzo what I was after (a multitude of shots showcasing various «characters»), he helped me strategize a plan in which between setups I would shave my facial hair in various ways (full beard, redneck mutton chops, creepy mustache, «cop» mustache, and clean shaven to be specific).
In fact I had actually long been dreaming about such a scenario for a headshot shoot, though I didn’t say anything because I never in a million years thought any photographer would be patient enough to do it. So imagine my extreme delight when Lorenzo actually suggested it to me. I jumped at the chance, but in my mind I resigned myself to the fact that we would probably only end up with closer to three or four looks because shaving would take up a lot of time. Luckily Lorenzo’s attitude was that we had all the time in the world to get it right as long as I was comfortable and my schedule didn’t conflict if we ran over.
I can pretty indecisive (as I’m sure Lorenzo picked up on when I showed up with half of my wardrobe), but no matter how many times before we moved on to the next shaving phase, I said «wait can we get some shots with these additional outfits», Lorenzo didn’t flinch, roll his eyes, or rush me in any way. He just smiled, said «sure buddy», and immediately started working on how to make the next setup stand out from the others beyond just me changing my outfit (whether this meant driving us on location or changing the backdrop in his studio, yet again because a different backdrop would work better with what I wanted to wear). Lorenzo never dragged his feet with anything, yet he is clearly such a seasoned professional that he never seemed to break a sweat.
Bottom line, Lorenzo was patient and generous with his time, and clearly much more concerned with making sure that I was comfortable and ended up with the shots that I needed more than he was with rushing me through just to make money. This didn’t feel like a photo session… it felt more like I was just having a fun afternoon with an old friend, even though we had just met.
Honestly I didn’t set out to turn this review into a novel, and I swear that I am a real person (comment or message me and I will email you some of his shots of me) who is not being compensated in any way to write such a review. I’ve just had friends use very pricy photographers who charged them way too much for mediocre shots that their agents won’t even let them use, so when I meet someone who is the real deal like Lorenzo, i would hate to see him get lost amongst the sea of people who think that owning a DSLR qualifies them to be a professional photographer.

Lorenzo has done several photo shoots for us as a family and he is AMAZING! He has also done my husband’s headshots and he still uses them because they were just fantastic. He is very professional but super fun too. I can’t say enough about the quality of his photography! I am a photographer as well so it was hard for me to hand the camera off to someone else! My Walls use to be filled with my own photography, but not any more! I have his masterpieces up!!! His technical knowledge blows mine away! Highly recommend Lorenzo. My profile shot (the super hero one) was done by Lorenzo! So fun!

I cannot say enough great things about shooting with Lorenzo. He was open to all the ideas for looks/​clothing that I brought for my different types of shots and was able to give his own input and improvise with his own ideas on the shoot.
Turns out his own suggestions really brought out the best headshots, and the one I ended up using as my main theatrical shot. I was able to get all the looks I was going for (commercial, business, theatrical) and never felt rushed or pressured in terms of shooting time. This allowed for me to relax and really have my personality shine through my headshots.
He is a great guy and very laid back, yet very professional.
Highly recommended.

Lorenzo took a casual photo of me at the park one day that was so good, I actually used it as a headshot until I could scheduled some real headshots with him later on. I’ve recommended him to be a set photographer, a wedding photographer, and for corporate events, and he always knocks it outs of the park. Now I’m recommending him to Unilocal users!

I’ve shot with many different photographers in LA, but Lorenzo is the best. I felt so comfortable. He really listened to me and made me feel at ease instantly! He made me feel beautiful and made me laugh during my whole shoot which kept my energy up. The best part was that he didn’t make me feel rushed. So many photographers in LA book sessions back to back, which works for them, but makes me feel rushed.
I don’t live in LA anymore, but I refer all my friends to Lorenzo! If you need new, fresh, beautiful shots go to him!

Just got my fitness photos done by Lorenzo, what a legend! Great guy and we got some really cool shots, I’m so excited to see the finished photos. I couldn’t have wished for a more, down to earth, but professional guy. This was my first shoot and he ran me through everything and got some great shots.
