Ordered a large steak wit provolone and onions. Beef was over marinated and overcooked. Bread was dry and cold. Onions were also cooked too long so they were dry and stringy. They tried to charge me $ 0.50 for jalapenos. Seriously? You mean $ 8.50 + tax for a cheese steak shouldn’t have covered the jalapeño cost? I like philly’s best(gasp!) better. The guys in the truck were nice, but the food is blah.

I’m the kind of guy who loves French fries covered in meat and cheese. How can you go wrong? Well, Philly Please managed to do it. I ordered the Wiz Fries with steak and onions. Admittedly, there were a lot of people waiting. So I’m not going to complain about the wait. It’s comparable to other trucks. When they got to me, they just emptied the remaining fries they had in a bowl, covered with meat, cheese, and onions. That’s also not a problem. The problems are 1. They didn’t have enough fries. My portion was tiny and definitely not a full serving(last before me got hella fries). 2. Since it was the remainder, there were some pieces of fries that may have well been charcoal. So aside from those issues, how was the taste? Meh. Nothing special. You could make this with stuff from your grocer’s freezer aisle. Maybe I should have ordered a sandwich, but as a fry lover, I will skip this place next time.

I gotta say I have no idea what an original Philly Cheesesteak tastes like. My only experience is with whatever LA thinks it should taste like, but based on the fact that this truck carries Tasty Cakes gives them a few extra brownie points. If there is one thing my cousin from Philly taught me is that Tasty Cakes is a true philly original! I ordered the half, cheese wiz steak with onions. No I don’t have the cool order lingo down nor do I care. The half cheese steak I got was SUPER filling. The cheese was Cheese Wiz, I mean you kind of know what you are getting there. There were some onions on it — but I kinda would have liked a bit more. But I will say the sandwich was over flowing with meat and cheese — they definitely don’t skimp and a half is definitely filling. The staff wasn’t really that attentive. The guy that owns/runs the truck was outside and had to yell at one of his employees to get off the phone and take our order. I would say the owner was much more polite and friendly then the staff.

Just got done enjoying a «pirate style» Philly witout and holy cow, it was so GOOD! I’m not usually a cheesesteak fan, but this truck was at my company today and my coworker wanted to share one, so I obliged. So glad I did! What gets me about cheesesteaks is that the meat has no flavor… it’s usually just boring, unseasoned meat. This place seasons their meat well and it made all the difference! Also has the whiz fries which were thick cut and deeeeeeeliocus. Everything else(service, quickness, yadda) was«whatever», but hey — it’s a food truck! I’m not looking for amazing service, just for yummy food and they’ve got that.

I don’t think I will ever sit and wait that long for this truck ever again. I literally waited almost an hr for a sandwich. The Sandwich was good but it wasn’t anything out of this world. They definitely need at least 2 people cooking and one person taking orders.

For some strange reason, I was hankering for a meatball sandwich today. As I drove north on La Brea searching for someplace to fulfill my desire, I came upon the Philly Please Truck parked in front of the Stussy store. The chicken cheese steak with provolone and mushrooms was excellent! It came out quick and hot, and when I asked for lettuce, the chef graciously added romaine and apologized that it wasn’t pretty enough. A man passing by and asked what we were enjoying, because he said it smelled so good. I directed him to the truck and watched long enough to see him get his sandwich and make really happy faces while he enjoyed his sandwich. Provolone is the way to go as far as I’m concerned. Cheese Whiz is gross processed junk.

The guy working in the truck was very friendly, but I felt like the food was lacking. I ordered the half cheesesteak wit onions($ 5). I asked for cheese wiz but they gave me provolone — guess the two cheeses sound similar :/ The meat inside the sandwich was a bit dry. The bun was cold and blah. Overall, it was just an ok cheesesteak… nothing special.

My boyfriend and I had the opportunity to try«Philly Please» due to the Santa Anita food truck last weekend. They weren’t busy and we were like the only customers for awhile. We decided to try the half sandwich together so we could make room for other food goodness from their competitors. We ordered the cheesesteak half for 5 bucks without onions but with mushrooms. Staff seemed nice and the sandwich came out pretty fast less than a 5 minute wait. However, I wouldn’t say that it’s the best cheesesteak sandwich I’ve had. The great steak escape or Charley’s in the mall is still better. Definitely not a truck i would be following however if its conveniently close by i probably would stop by to get something. perhaps they are missing some seasoned salt. I also don’t think they had any mayo in the sandwich which i believe usually gives the sandwich a little more«UMPH!» so philly please is only getting 3 stars from me because it’s just«A-OK»

@PhillyPleaseTrk Your stalkers don’t always make conventional choices. We’re always looking for new and different tastes. It’s kind of what we live for. S when I found this truck in front of Guitar Center in Sherman Oaks on a Saturday my first thought,(after wandering around Guitar Center for ½ hour), was try their Philly. But then it struck me, I’ve never been to Philly before and have no idea what a proper Philly should taste like. So I went for what sounded good. The Ceasar Chicken was my sandwich of choice. Got a whole one and bottled water. How was it? It was good, it satisfied me. What was inside the sandwich was not as good as the roll they put it on though. I don’t know where they get their rolls from but these are seriously good rolls. Nice soft bread with a semi hard crust covered with cornmeal. I assume these are the rolls they put the Philly on and it makes me want to try a Philly there… Wit Wiz! I’m told that’s the right way to eat one. I’ll give it a shot when I come across this one again

Again let me start by saying that I RARELY leave reviews, but this truck is AWESOME! After reading the other non flattering reviews its obvious that most us californians dont understand how to order a cheesesteak. Order it with WIZ! These sandwiches are amazingly good when ordered the way they were meant to be made! The guys are all great and friendly I will be eating there everytime I see them down the street! Remember to order it with WIZ!

If there is one thing you have to get right when making a philly cheesesteak it is the bread. If you get that wrong then it throws the whole sandwich out of balance. Their bread seemed stale because it was cold, thick, dry, and chewy. They should maybe think about toasting their bread to give it a better consistency. I literally tore all the bread away and just ate the meat. The meat and cheese were good, but nothing really out of the ordinary. I’ve had much better philly cheesesteaks pretty much anywhere else.

With all the selection at Art Walk, I ended up picking this truck. Man, that was a bad decision. My cheese steak with provolone was pathetic. In my 6″ sub, there was like 3 pathetic pinches of meat and what appears to be cheese if you look very closely. For the price, I essentially paid for some bread and air.

They make a very good philly cheese steak sandwich. I bought one for my big bro and he wanted provolone in his… I would’ve gone for the whiz myself but to each his own. I didn’t think the service was slow but then again i wasn’t in a hurry. I’d get a sammy from them again.

Tried the Steak sandwich with provolone cheese. The sandwich was okay looking, very plain. I felt like I got jipped on the cheese, it wasn’t cheesy just extra flavoring or something. I got my order to go so I went home and put more cheese on it. The sandwich itself was good. Not the greatest though.

I had the Philly Please Truck at a fundraiser for The Valley School in Van Nuys. The guy taking orders(also the owner) was super friendly, legit from Philadelphia. If you’re a Philly native, or have ever been, there is a certain way to order cheesesteak, and I’m in the know. Wit Whiz is my preference. The line was a little long, probably because it was the best truck there, but it was worth the wait! It’ll be a while before I’m back on South Street, so this was definitely a treat. I’ll be on the lookout for this truck again.

What can you say when a food truck owner gets out of his truck and asks,” how was the food?” The fact that he asked for feedback speaks volumes about his concern for his customers. I caught the Philly Please truck in Canoga Park at the Summertime Artrageous Artwalk and I was happy I did. What could be more glorious on a summer night then a Philly Cheesesteak? My wife ordered the half Philly with chicken, onions, and cheese and she really liked it. I must say she’s a picky eater so for her to compliment the food, it must have hit a home run for her. I ordered the half Philly with steak and onions(no cheese this night, cutting down). So, if you are keeping score, Philly Please has my wife’s vote(100%) will they get mine? Sadly, at this point in the review I can only give them a half(50%) vote. I felt the meat could have been hotter. Talking with my wife I expressed how I felt about my sandwich and chalked it up to just one of those things. Looking over at the food truck I notice someone getting out and asking me, «how was the food?» Should I be honest? Is this one of those times that the truth shall overcome? Not knowing who the gentleman was that was asking, I told him my wife loved her sandwich, but I wasn’t really thrilled by mine. He then proceeded to ask me what was wrong with my food and I told him. He told me his name was Miguel and he owned the business. He apologized and then said he would make me a new sandwich, so I could really taste how good his product was. I told him I was already full and he said then take the sandwich home and eat it later. Ten minutes later Miguel brought the sandwich out to me and I couldn’t resist. The sandwich was gone within minutes, so good too. So, if you are still keeping score, Miguel and Philly Please Cheesesteak gets a 100% vote from me. Miguel, thanks for keeping the customer satisfied and I can’t wait to visit your truck again.

It’s not worth writing much of a review. I paid almost $ 6 for half a sandwich alone. No drink, no fries. It is smaller than just about any bread roll I’ve had. Imagine 2 average to small dinner rolls, and you got this sandwich. The full would be $ 12 !!Ouch! If you HAVE to have a Philly sandwich, than I wouldn’t mindeating this sandwich, as it wasn’t good or bad. Just a horrible value. I couldn’t imagine paying $ 12!!! for a small full size… Are you outa your mind? The meat was lower to average grade and hard to detect since it is sliced nice and thin. The roll was ok(it wasn’t stale), cheese hardly even any in the sandwich, and some onions under done/sauteed… No wonder all the roach coaches are switching to this type of business model…“Lets make the truck look cool, and serve the same or less and mark it up 4 times… with a cool theme, and all the idiots will bite”. I don’t blame this nice guy for wanting to run a profitable business… at $ 5.50 to $ 12 a sandwich with a fixed overhead he surely is.

Crew still a bit slow. They checked in at the Zenith throwing me off because they weren’t there and I had to walk more than I wanted on this hot day. Didn’t help that their iPad didn’t work for credit card transactions for the first time today. Had to drive down to the ATM to get cash. Still waiting for my food and my 1hr lunch is done in 19 minutes. With about 17 minutes left in my lunch break, I will try to give an un-biased review of the actual food regardless of the time issues. Cheesesteak wit Whiz — Dry, needs more cheese on top, not spread on the bread like mayo. Others with me ordered Buffalo, spicy, with whiz, didn’t counteract spicyness enough for female in her 50s. Steaks were generally too dry in the sandwhiches. Same deal with American and provo. Needs more cheese on top. Fries taste OK, soggy and oily, familiar taste. Wouldn’t recommend this truck unless you have plenty of time and your own sauces to make it better. I’ll give them another chance though. 3rd day on the job.

I caught this truck in Woodland Hills, this afternoon; it’s second day on the streets and ordered – what else? A Philly Wit. First let me explain, picture Tony Danza or Sly Stallone trying to e-nun-ci-cate the word«with», and there you have it. A cheesesteak comes«wit» or ««witout» onions; I like mine wit. You also get a choice of cheeses on your Wit(or witout) cheesesteak, like any true Philly stand. You could order American, Whiz(yep it’s Cheez-Whiz) or do what I did and choose the Provo. which is provolone. My large 9about 10-inch) sandwich cost $ 8.00, plus 2 dollars for a premium soda(I had a bottle of Birch Beer imported from Pennsylvania) and another 98 cents because this is one of the few trucks that adds the tax after the posted price. When I got to the truck there was one man placing his order, and about 5 people waiting for their food to be ready. Here is where we ran into some problems. My food took between 20 and 25 minutes(judging from the timestamps on my camera) and while my order was correct, 2 or 3 of the ones that proceeded me weren’t. One guy was sent away without his fries, and someone who ordered and was charged for a large wound up with a half-sized sandwich. I also had a big problem with smoke fumes. Now this isn’t my normal whining about cigarettes, but they had the truck engine running and a Honda gasoline generator near the back bumper. Both of these were emitting fumes that set me off on a coughing spell. I have never run into this problem before with the fist 159 trucks, so I am going to assume they have a mechanical problem here that needs to be fixed. The owner was very nice about shutting the engine off for a few minutes when I complained, but it is their refrigeration, and obviously it needs to be on most of the day. If they don’t fix it, I feel badly for whatever truck winds up parked near them at a festival or truck meet; but on the other hand I realize i am more sensitive then most, and I was quite pleased that the owner shut the engine off immediate when I called it to his attention. As for the food, the owner(sorry I didn’t get his name) was aware and apologetic about the delay. I think he can make the times more reasonable as it will mean the difference between a successful or failure of a truck. My sandwich was good, but not quite worth 8 dollars, he uses decent ingredients and fills the bun, but still this is really about a 6 or 6.50 worth of sandwich. My three star rating is based on the price and the wait time. I am not marking him down for the engine fumes, as I am assuming that this will be a simple fix. if I thought it was going to be a permanent issue it would be one star; and if he can get his crew up to speed, I could see myself bumping it up to a 4.
