History
Established in 1992.
We are a certified program provider through the National Enrichment Teachers Association. PAW is committed to providing quality Summer Camp and After School Programs to both public and private schools from the West Side to San Fernando Valley and South Bay to Orange County. Our teachers have or are working towards their bachelor’s or master’s degrees in their respective disciplines. Their teaching experience and knowledge combined with the PAW philosophy provides our students with a level of training comparable to what can be found at private studios and conservatories. Professionalism, experience and enthusiasm are some of the defining traits of our teachers, and they use these qualities to empower the personal and creative growth of our students. In addition, each teacher will have cleared a criminal background check before being placed to work with the students.
Meet the Business Owner
Cheryl A.
Business Owner
Cheryl Appleman has been working in the after school enrichment industry for over 25 years, serving in every capacity the industry has to offer. Starting as a ballet teacher, she built a network of school programs that would become her first after school enrichment company and later evolved into Performing Arts Workshops. In 1988, Cheryl worked with LAUSD and assisted in developing the first district-approved licensing procedure which allowed privately owned enrichment programs to operate on school campuses. In 2003, with the after school industry becoming a vital part of the national educational landscape, Cheryl turned her attention to two fronts: first, to create a set of standards and practices and a certification process for enrichment teachers by founding the National Enrichment Teachers Association (NETA) and second, providing consulting to entrepreneurs wishing to start their own enrichment companies through NETA’s After School Advantage Program.
