Excellent Thai food in a beautiful modern atmosphere with plush comfortable seating and nice natural lighting. Located steps to many trendy Los Feliz bars and theatres, Pattaya Bay’s prices are only slightly higher than their Thai Town neighbor’s. Their vegan selection is plentiful, offering any classic dish you might crave as a vegan option. I went with the Pad See Ew tofu, which for $ 8.99 was a very large serving. I also got a free Thai Iced Tea for checking in on Unilocal, which was delicious. Creamy and flavorful without being overly sweet. The noodles were delicious. Perfectly cooked tofu and flavorful dark soy sauce noodles with very fresh tasting greens. Staff was very friendly and extremely fast. Minimum $ 10 for credit cards-Visa and MasterCard only.

This was a pretty awful dining experience. The table wasn’t clean, there was some sort of white substance caked in the cracks. The wall behind our table was dirty too. My yellow curry was subpar, actually no, it tasted really weird. There was another patron that made us feel super awkward as well. He requested a basketball game be turned on in the middle of our meal, complete with sound. It was obnoxious and being projected right over our heads. His behavior was strange and the waitstaff were treating him like he was a problem in an odd passive aggressive manner. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

This was the WORST dining and restaurant experience I’ve ever had. AVOID at all costs! I’ve dined at this location in the past and I decided to give it a second chance. It’s a Friday night in LA and the restaurant is sparsely attended, which seemed odd to me, but continued to be seated. Several minutes go by and a waitress finally came by and took our order via memory. Our food arrived moments later, however, they brought us the wrong entrée. We politely pointed it out to another waitress we flagged down. Our main waitress brought back the dish to the table and began to debate with us over which dish we ordered. No apology, just a sigh and ran back to the kitchen with the dish. Our fried tofu appetizer tasted like watery goo. We finally got the Pad See Yew we originally ordered and ITWASCOMPLETELYBURNT! We proceeded to eat what we could of it, as we were so hungry, although we gave up after seeing how it tasted like burnt charcoal. We believe they gave us a burnt dish on purpose after sending back the Pad Thai because they were so bothered by us requesting what we actually ordered. Eventually, the owner lady came by and asked us how the dish was. My spouse said that, unfortunately, our food was burnt. She got very defensive and angry and said that’s how the dish is supposed to be. My spouse said, «If you didn’t want to know how the dish really was, you shouldn’t have asked then.» And she turns around and storms off without saying anything or trying to make it right. The staff, all of the waitresses, were very rude and never came to check on us. They were too busy pointing at customers and gossiping in the kitchen than to deliver customer service. Finally, we requested the bill and we weren’t compensated at all for the lackluster food. My spouse, who was a waiter in the past and is a very generous tipper, didn’t even leave a tip, that’s how bad the food and service was here. We honestly should have just walked out, that’s how horrible it was. We then both had a stomachache on the car ride home. This is a disgusting excuse for a Thai restaurant. There are plenty in this neighborhood. Don’t waste your time or calories on this place!

As far as Thai food goes, this place is ok. Granted I only got two items, but if the rest of their menu holds similar then, I’d probably rate it lower. Can’t say the dry semi bland pad see ew was up to par. Nor the chicken ka prow, next time I ka pass. Maybe it’d have been better if it were ground chicken, but as that’s not even an option here, I should have known to steer clear.

This has been my go to place for Thai food for over 17 years. Make sure to get the Chicken Sate appetizer with peanut sauce and Thai Ice Tea. You’re welcome.

The 2016 Unilocal500, Review #020: (Orig. Post date: March 2016) WHYHERE?: I ended up in this restaurant due to a comment made by a local friend who would come here after her shift ended late at night, on what I will guess — by their operating hours — was Friday and/or Saturday night. She mentioned that she used to hit this place up for late night drinks, karaōke and some food. NOTE: This place wasn’t actually recommended by my friend, it was simply mentioned in conversation. It was I who assumed that, because she worked in the food service business, this place must be good. There goes that error so often attached to assumptions again(I REALLY have to stop doing that). FOODORDERED: I ordered my favorite Thai dish, the Cashew Chicken and it wasn’t to my liking. So, let me say it wasn’t as savory as I am used to at Bangkok Chef in Honolulu(I think I Unilocaled their location near Lowe’s). That place has better flavor in that one meal than I discovered traveling around in Thailand back in 2002. Also ordered was the Pad Thai(chicken) and it was«just ok»(not my quote). INREFLECTION: Only one scoop of the Pad Thai was eaten compared to three scoops of the Cashew Chicken(I hadn’t eaten in 5 hours.). After my first fork-full of the Cashew Chicken I went to swap to the Pad, because I could tell it wasn’t being enjoyed. I was immediately warned that there was egg was mixed into the noodles and since I am alergic to cooked egg, that dish also disappointed me. MENU: What scares me most is how many things on the menu are deep fried(I don’t care what oil is used, why are we STILL doing this?) and the catfish is listed on the menu as being both«stire»(stir) fried AND(not OR) deep fried.. I am hoping that is a typo just like«stire». Otherwise they fry it twice and therefore ruin one of my favorite fish to grill on a cedar plank with fresh herbs. EXPECTATIONS: I expected to NOT have to go someplace after dinner to eat a meal, especially after spending … hmmm might have been. 25 – 30 dollars with tip Fortunately two things can be found a few blocks away: 1. Fatburger — Open 24 hours and 2. homeless people camped –literally — on the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Vermont. They most graciously accepted the left over food. Be sure to ask for utensils and napkins if you are planning to make your own donations. SHOULDA/WOULDA/COULDA: I have previously mentioned that I have spent time in Thailand(a few weeks) and I was very pleased with the amount of menu items that were poached or steamed(fish/vegetables) or grilled(chicken)… sometimes it was done right in front of you, which was awesome because I was able to absorb the techniques involved in their prep, despite the language barrier. PROSIDE: Yes, even disappointments have a silver lining — if you look close enough. For this place I have to commend the ultra fast service when it comes to both taking orders and delivery of food(but, it should have been since there were only two other couples in the place). I noted that the waitress and host were very polite and the restaurant was spotlessly clean… beyond belief even! The L.A. Weekly is piled up at the door(this was the best thing about the visit) and my final observation was a simple one, they have karoke and comfy couches. My party added, «Now, if only the food were good.» BOTTOMLINE: The overall feel was that neither dish would be ordered again. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * UPDATE: Letting this rest in my mind for a bit more than 24 hours… I am downgrading this from 3 to 2 stars because of the menu options, the average prep method(fried) and the flavor of the one thing I really wanted being a disappointment. I mean, 3 stars for what? Clean floors and nice staff? Reason #1 that I go to a restaurant is for savory food. It shouldn’t be like military meals. Military meals are often times not thought of as food but, as fuel so you just eat it and beat it. Kinda like this llace was for me. Now I am sure this place is loved by those with a different palate. This review wasn’t posted to condemn the place but, as a serious reminder to myself and those who follow my reviews — some for guidnence and some for comic relief. ENDGAME: They say that there is a first time and a most recent experience for everything in this world. When disappointed with a foodie adventure, I like to be more specific. It is then that I say that all things have a first time and a last time experience… and for Pattaya Thai they have the misfortune of having them BOTH occur at precisely the same time. Aloha. «The End»(also not my quote) UPDATE: Due to a verbal assault by Bri B. of L.A., who doesn’t know me at all, I will award this place the loss of another star. For having mentally malaligned patrons. Bri B = 1 review 2 friends. blah. blah…

KARAOKEKILLEDTHISREVIEW– Like many on here, I found Pattaya a warm atmosphere, with good food and friendly staff. We ordered the Pad-thai noodles, dumplings and my girlfriend a generous portioned noodle soup. The booths around the perimeter of the space, was comfortable with large inviting sofa table seating, but the tables in the middle provided wooden chairs that after seated a while, resembled a similar experience to sleeping on a sofa bed for in-laws. The restaurant deserves 4 stars, but the dining experience is overshadowed by the poorly operated Karaōke DJ, who clearly felt the place was HIS personal American Idol show. During the course of an hour and a half, we scribbled down a half dozen songs to sing, along with a generous tip, but found ourselves reduced to a spectator role of the DJ’s own selfish performances. It was also disturbing to discover that the slips of paper used to jot down the songs, that you never get a chance to sing, were the credit card paper receipts from customers who dined there earlier in the week. In an hour and a half, we sang ONE song each soon after our arrival, then watched as the DJ sang six to seven songs, often performing two tunes back to back! The place should advertise live entertainment rather than customer karaōke, because the more people that arrived, the more the karaōke DJ sang himself, to the disappointment of his now captive audience. Dinner was good, but the frustration of his repetitive disregard for the customers desire to sing, left a bad flavor to the otherwise delicious meal. Musically exasperated, we left immediately after we finished our dinner. This DJ, turned Don-Ho, ruined the overall experience for us.

My favorite place for pad see ew; they use a good amount of sauce so that the noodles aren’t dry or bland. I also really like the mee krob when they have it, as well as the duck salad. Karaōke gets loud, but quite entertaining.

I haven’t been to this place before my friend invited me to her birthday party. We had really great time singing karaōke toasting my friends 30th. All the dishes we ordered were delicious, and when we tallied up the bill we all were very surprised at how reasonablely priced everything was. Great service too, we were waited on hand and foot. Highly recommend!!!

I have to say, this is somewhat of a hidden gem. After a night of partying in West Hollywood, a friend recommended this place because they open late. It was a Saturday night and karaōke was in full swing! No, it’s not that type of karaōke joint with private rooms. There’s a stage in the corner of the restaurant so you can listen to terrible singing while you eat(it was quite entertaining! A few guys were trying to belt out tears for fears, shout!!!). Onto the food, we ordered egg rolls, pad thai, chow mein, and pad see ew. I wasn’t a fan of their pad thai because it was really sweet. The other dishes were fine but the pad see ew was by far the best! I think I’ll get it with tofu next time cause I thought the beef was kind of chewy. The pad see ew noodles were hot, fresh, and flavorful! I’ll definitely be back because they’re open late. I think we got there too late because we tried to sing but they were closing down. Service was ok and there’s ample parking because it’s in a tiny strip mall and everything else is closed at that hour. Overall, a fun place if you’re looking for food and fun after bar hopping.

I’m usually more of a fan of private room karaōke, but this place is pretty fun! There’s a small stage where you can get up and serenade the room, and when I went there was a big group of older Thai gentlemen taking full advantage of it while celebrating a birthday. The restaurant is pretty small so it’s a good place to come with a group for a party or celebration. The food is pretty good; it’s not the best Thai food I’ve ever had but it’s definitely tasty! The portions are huge and meant to be shared. We got the pineapple fried rice and the pad Thai, and it was too much for us to finish. We had enough left over for another full meal the next day. The pineapple fried rice was better than the pad Thai by a small margin.

It was midnight on a Monday, and we walked into Pattaya Bay Thai restaurant to the sound of a young man spilling his heart out to Lady Gaga’s «Bad Romance.» We had driven through a zombie wasteland of the Los Feliz area after dark to this dimly lit safe house, strangely lively for an odd time of night. A flaming hot pot of Tom Yung soup with chicken soon came to our cozy corner table. Spicy, sour, and warm, we slowly defrosted. The Grilled Squid was aptly seasoned and cooked to a proper texture. The green chili sauce made it just savory enough to satisfy the tongue. The Papaya Salad fell short, disappointing for a Thai restaurant staple. The papaya was grated too thick to be suitably pliable. The sauce was a simple, shallow one. In the background was one serenade after another. Though the place was only 4 tables full, the queue for karaōke never ceased as one crooning customer after another took the limelight. It was a snug stop for a chilly Monday, a lone lit haven on a hushed road. As the City Angels slept, an middle-aged man sang a timeless love song with so much feeling I had forgotten all the words…

We came in around 1:15 am it was dead but an hour later and it’s popping. Everyone is doing karaōke! Iced Thai tea –is KILLER. Will def come back just for this :) Pad Thai– first time having Thai food. I didn’t like this it had a funky taste. I don’t know if all pad Thai is like this or not. Yellow curry — AMAZING. I dislike curry but this was the first time I really enjoyed it. Maybe I like curry now. Just so flavorful and delicious. Fried rice– really good also. I’m not a huge rice fan but this was so good. This was a lot of fun! Will definitely come back

** Food ** Karaōke ** Atmosphere I absolutely love this place. This place, has some secrets. Secrets I will not spill in the review for fear the secrets may go away. Good food. Good late night stop to finish your night, fill your belly, and sing some tunes. They have a simple karaōke setup with an iPad that allows you to find songs on youtube I believe and sing them. It’s fantastic. It’s pretty much free, don’t forget to tip! The food is great. It hits the spot for late night eats. Place is usually empty to half full, lots of tables to eat at, good for big parties. The staff are VERY nice, especially with the late night drunk people coming and going. There is a parking lot. The best.

Over the years living in Windsor Square and driving through Loz Feliz to my office in Burbank, I have stopped at Pattaya bay for dinner. Each time i leave either unimpressed or angry at myself for not remembering my last the bad experience there. Tonight was the end. I ordered four dishes. Pattay, BBQ Pork, Chinese Broccoli and Mixed Vegetables. I will stipulate that vegetables dishes were ok. Not great, but not memorably disappointing. The first two were beyond disgusting. The Pattay was dry, without taste and full of grey chicken bits. WARNINGWARNINGWARNING The BBQ pork was not cooked. This is a health hazard. I have posted a picture of the meat to be sure that this is not an opinion, but fact. When I called the restaurant, the woman was very nice and apologetic. However, her customer service does not in any way excuse this restaurants poor quality.

I hadn’t been here in a really long time, so I didn’t know what to expect. I was disappointed. We order a seafood soup which tasted nothing like it. We asked to switch it for wonton soup thinking it was going to be better, but it ended up being more of a disappointment! It tasted like water. I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

I ordered the standard green curry chicken lunch special. The chicken was indeed grayish in color the curry had separated, fat globs floating on top of the curry, the chicken tasted like leftover from day before. The steam rice was extremely overcooked and Gluey. I had passed by this place for years and always avoided it for some unknown reason I should have done so today as well my first and last visit. I must add the server girl was nice.

I’ve been coming to Pattaya since 2001. It’s safe to say that I’m a fan. My order is a Sprite with an order of Money Bags to start. Then, it’s on to an order of chow mein with tofu – hold the celery. I douse that with a bit of sweet and sour sauce – hold the peanuts. Sounds complicated, right? Well it is. And that’s why I love Pattaya because for 13 years, they’ve made this order to perfection. It’s always hot and tasty. There’s always enough for leftovers.
