Specialties

Located on the Westside of Los Angeles, we offer a broad and diverse range of dance classes for both adults and children.

Our adult classes include workouts such as Zumba, Persian/​Belly Dance Workout, Cardio Salsa, Afro-​Vibe, and more, as well as instructional classes in Argentine Tango, Raqs Sharqi Belly Dance, Pole Dancing, Burlesque, and Broadway Jazz!

Our children dance classes (ages 3 – 14) include Hip Hop, Jazz, Pre-​Ballet, Ballet, Belly Dance, Musical Theater, and Persian cultural dance classes. Private and semi-​private dance instruction is available with several of our dance teachers. Prices of classes vary depending on level of expertise and requirements of instructor.

Summer camp and winter camp include dances classes, ceramic classes and painting classes. Please check out our dance class schedule for times.

Our beautiful studio and garden patio are available for RENTAL year-​round. We enjoy a cross-​cultural community of both students and artists who rent our studio spaces for classes and rehearsals. Pacific Arts Center is a broad-​based cultural center. Although, the emphasis is dance class instruction, our facilities host a range of activities, including art exhibits, lectures and dance parties.

Shida P.

Business Owner

Shida Pegahi, an arts educator and dance choreographer, founded Pacific Arts Center & Dance Studios in 2002. She studied ballet at the Royal Ballet School in London and performed ballet, jazz and ethnic dance with several touring companies in the U.S. She was a dance instructor at Westside Academy of Dance and Crossroads School in Santa Monica for many years, and is also the founder and artistic director of Ney Nava Dance Theatre, which performs contemporary/​mystical Persian dance throughout southern California and nationally.

I love this Place, I take most of shiva’ dance classes and she is fantastic, we actually became friends right away. The studio is really cute too and Shida the owner is also really friendly, during the holidays they threw a few parties there too and it was lots of fun. I love it here!

We really like this studio. They were very attentive to my little princess. The teachers are true artist and somehow make time to treat each child independently to assure their success. Shida was very helpful setting up which class was right for our little princess. Finally, our little girl loves the time she spends there. Shiva, her teacher is super with the kids!

My 7 year old Daughter went to camp here and she absolutely loved it. The staff is very welcoming and really helped her feel confident in her skin. The Director/​Owner Shida is very nice, and accommodating.
We are thinking that during the year we maybe putting her in the classes to help with her self esteem and continue to grow in this welcoming environment.

My 8 yr old daughter has taken classes for a year now. She loves the classes (ballet, Jazz, and hip hop), and the summer camp. At first I thought three hours (summer camp) of dance might be too much but the next day she is ready to go again! The girls also do ceramics during the summer… I feel like the environment at the dance center has contributed to my daughter’s self esteem.
My daughter’s favorite teacher is Shiva. Shiva is encouraging, patient, and positive.
One thing I do wish they had were Asian and Pacific Islander dance classes (Filipino, Hawaiian, etc…)

The Director here is awful! She wouldn’t accept my Living Social deal and charged me more than what my friend paid. I was very disappointed with the way the Director handled money matters, very unprofessional. I will put my money elsewhere. Not worth it at all! You don’t treat people this way.
Otherwise, I liked the dance teachers. They were very professional and nice. The rest of the staff is completely disorganized and can’t find paperwork. Don’t recognize students by name. Have really no idea what’s going on.
For the price they are charging, forget about it! Disaster in the making!

1÷25÷14 — In response to owner: I stand by my review. You can read my reviews for other businesses and see that I am a fair, realistic person. The pee smell is upon entering your gate, I’m not speaking of the sidewalk outside of the studio just as I am not speaking of leaves in your indoor patio. I’m talking about the layer of soot and cobwebs. The times that I was planning to speak to you, you weren’t in your office. In regards to what you said about the clothing/​shoes, that is not what you said over the phone when I scheduled my daughter for the class. When I asked you what my daughter needed to bring for the class, you told me not to bring anything, to come in, the items were sold at the studio. I think other reviewers can attest to that. Finally, no, I am not interested in sending my daughter to a different class at your facility especially after the comments you just made and furthermore, I am no longer responding to any of your comments. I truly thought you were a nice lady when we met and that you’d take my review as constructive criticism but I see that it was in vain.

The Pacific Arts Center & Dance Studios is a small Dance studio, it looks like it used to be a house. They have all sorts of different kind of dance classes. I go there to take the Pole Dance Classes with Emily and it’s great. She’s a great teacher, always helpful and happy. She’s super excited every time you’re able to do a move, and is more than ready to help you build upon the moves.

For over two years, I’ve been taking cardio salsa classes taught by Jerry and am still loving it! Jerry is an amazing teacher always bringing something fresh and new to the dance routines. Jerry’s music selection makes the class so much more fun for me because I love the up-​beat tropical Latin sounds of cha cha chas, mambos and merengues. If you’re looking for a fun time with a good sweaty workout with a bunch of good people, then you owe it yourself to take a class from Jerry. Gals, he’s also good eye-​candy!
The studio has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, parking is easy.

Went to an art opening there in April, 2012. What a beautiful set of studios, gorgeous gardens, and so close to major things (Westfield Mall) While I was there dance classes were happening. Obviously lots of interest, it was appropriately busy — not so much to be crowded.
There were lots of different types of dance. So sweet the kids!
I m going to have to disagree with the writer about cancellations. It ‘s well known in dance instruction that things get moved around ~ happens everywhere. Oh, and the doggy is soooo cute, with a little bit of a human quality.
I’ve been back a couple of times since I liked it so much, and Would definitely go back again.

I’ve been meaning to write a review about this place for a while. I had bought classes for my 2 year old daughter through Mamapedia. I talked to the owner before purchasing it to make sure the ballet class was appropriate for a 2 year old and she assured me it was. Ms. Olga taught the ballet class and she was the most awful teacher for kids I have ever seen. She has no idea how to relate to kids or to teach them, and she was flat out mean to the kids. For example, she would threaten to not give kids a sticker if they didn’t do the ballet poses like she instructed them to. After 3 classes (and making us spend about $ 60 on a leotard and ballet shoes for a recital that was happening in 6 months), Ms. Olga decided my daughter was too «disruptive» and the owner told us not to come back. I asked for a second chance since she did well the first two classes and this may have been an off day for my daughter (she is only 2 after all!) and the owner refused initially. Although the owner eventually changed her mind and told us to come back, I decided this was not the place for my daughter and was detrimental to her self-​esteem. This may be a better place for older children, but definitely not the place to take a 2 or 3 year old.

This place cancels classes all the time. I bought a groupon for 6 ballet classes. I attended once. The next week they canceled class an hour before. Mind you, I live nowhere close. The next week canceled again an hour before (I was dressed for class and walking out the door), and then they canceled the entire class forever. No doubt they have gotten my money from Groupon. Did I mention I had to wait three months for the ballet class to even begin. This place has the worst business practices ever. Who advertises they offer ballet classes when they don’t. They finally schedule one three months later, then cancel it. ABSOLUTELY avoid this place. I want my money back.
Also, I’m stillon their email list and I get about one email a month saying how so and so class is canceled. Annoying.

The owner is nice enough BUT…
This is not a dance company appropriate for young children in the 2 – 3 year old age range. Our daughter had a fun time, but the teacher was disorganized, demanding, and not communicative. I don’t want to write too many negative things, but we asked for our money back and are not planning t continue going here. The owner apologized for the messy state of the class, but that doesn’t cut it. This place might be OK for adults, but NOT little kids.

I have been taking Tamra-Henna’s intermediate belly dance in Pacific Arts Center for 4 years. It’s kind of like a gem in the hole place. Locates right next to a very busy Italian restaurant, you can find it’s gate hiding behind bushes.
The place is very cute and nicely decorated with different art elements. When you walk in you will find a walkway leading you to the front door where you can sign up classes with the owner Shida. She is there most of the time during the day, sometimes in the evening. So don’t be afraid if you don’t see anyone sitting there, everyone is very nice and willing to help.
They have 2 studios, both equip dance floors, one can host ~6−7 people, the other one is bigger, fits 15 – 20 people. There is also a very nice seating area in the courtyard where parents can sit and waiting for class to finish.
The studio offer huge variety of dance classes for kids/​teens/​adults which includes belly dance, hip hop, yoga, pole dancing, even Persian dance. You can pay for 6 or 12 classes once and go to most of the classes, and the price is pretty, good, ~$ 12 per class if you pay 12 classes.
Parking can be difficult sometimes but you can always find street parking somewhere. My only complain is there are 2 structure poles in the middle of the small studio which may get in the way in the class.

My 5 year old daughter has been taking ballet and ‘pop stars’ at this studio from Miss Olga for a little over a year now and she absolutely LOVES it! I love the relaxed vibe. Nothing pretentious about this place and always good dance classes going on.
I highly recommend you give this little gem a try.
