Excellent service! Very cooperative and helpful. Loved the wig!!! Looked wonderful on stage.

Still working on this same wig, and realized a lot of things.
1) it really sucks.
it’s just a generic cheap wig. sure, it looks nice in the store, but after taking it home and right now I’m brushing it, I realize how absolutely awful the density is. I can literally see the cap, something I’ve NEVER experienced working on wigs.
The density is just terrible for the wig I got from here, and for all I know, if you have 1 bad wig in a wig store, you just have 1 bad wig store.
y’all wasted my money. I’m pissed.

What a rip off! Please guys avoid this place!!! Their prices are insane! There’s a wig store one block away with much lower prices and better quality!
And when it comes to a custom-​made wig they do a horrible job, they cannot make a decent wig! Bad, bad, very bad wig store. I bought a $ 10 wig on Ebay, compared to theirs and the $ 10 wig looked much better and was better made!

Amazing! Went here for a last-​minute Halloween wig (four hours before a party), and the employees were extremely helpful and accommodating. Cut the wig to spec in no time. They paid me full attention until I was satisfied with my purchase. Any time I need a wig, I’m only ever shopping here.

This really is the best wig shop I’ve ever seen. Every time I’ve needed a wig for a specific costume — Princess Leia, Pris from Blade Runner, Mrs. Brady, etc. — I’ve been able to find the perfect one here. If it’s not exactly the right style, they fix it for you.
RuPaul gets wigs here. ‘Nuff said.
A little pricier than what you might find at Hollywood Toys & Costumes down the street, but there’s a reason for that: excellent quality and service. If you want a wig that will last a lifetime and not look like a cheap Halloween costume, this is where to go.

I am so very disappointed. I am not a drag queen, I am a comedian, but I am doing an event tomorrow night where all the comics are in drag. I was so looking forward to this show and enjoying the process of being in drag as it’s not something I’ve done before, and I get to play a fun character and play dress up. After looking for the right wig at so many different places I decided to go to Outfitters Wig and see what they could do for me as I was told they were the best. When I went in I found the perfect color wig. AND they said they could style it for me exactly as in a picture I showed them, all for $ 200, which is a lot of money for me. When I went to pick it up a few days later it was styled nothing like in the picture. They were very nice and said the would fix it. I went back yesterday to pick it up again and though they fixed it, it still didn’t look that great. It looked more like crazy old lady hair, but I just thought I’d fix it myself. Fine. I also realized the wig quality was very poor, and certainly not worth $ 200. That’s not my main gripe with the situation. My main gripe is that once I got home, I was looking at the wig and thought the color was different than what I had originally chosen. I thought maybe it was just the lighting in my apartment. Then I remembered I had taken a picture of the wig the day I initially bought it. When I looked at the picture I realized that they had given me a different wig than the one I picked out. I don’t have the time now to deal with this as I needed this for tomorrow night so I will just have to make do with this wig, and honestly I don’t have the patience or time for this. I will never shop here again. You just don’t do that to paying customers. I have uploaded a side by side picture for you to see. Bottom line, I got duped, and I would’ve expected better from a place that is considered the best wig shop in LA.

This is by far the Best Wig Shop anywhere in Los Angeles! The Customer Service is OUTSTANDING and the prices are so reasonable. Any style, any color you want you can get it here. The maintenance of the wig is also very important and the Stylist Rufina, does the Best work ! Please don’t waist your time going anywhere else, this is the only place for your wig!

Hands down the best wigmakers to the industry, full stop. Ask Angie for what you want, give her some pictures of it, et voila: exactly what you needed, on time, and at a very fair cost. She’s done great stuff for my productions and we’re booking her right now on another!
Go nowhere else; your search is over :)

Everyone was sooo nice here! I had gone to other wig shops on the blvd. and no one had customer service like this place! The only reason I gave it 4 stars, was because it was a little pricier than the other stores, however, I felt my business was appreciated! The store was super busy, and I still got personalized attention. So great! I purchased a wig for a short film, and I will definitely return to this location the next time I need a wig!

After several, exhausting trips to wig stores where the employees were unhelpful, Outfitters saved my ass. They were able to source all of the wigs for me, create relationships with new vendors to fulfill my order, and were super accommodating when I needed slight alterations to my wigs.
I urge you to go here… AJ is the best– her mom is the owner and has been running the shop for 43 years. If it were not for these ladies, I would have thrown my arms in the air and cried. I am a professional wig designer and they have helped me and will now be my go-​to vendor for wigs.

I had a wonderful experience at Outfitters! They had a huge selection of high-​end wigs. The lady who helped me (Rufina) was extremely patient and let me try on a whole bunch of wigs. She also let me take pictures and text them to my mom (I wanted her opinion as well). I left with exactly what I was looking for. I’ll definitely be a returning customer.

This is my third time buying a wig from this place & they never fail to have something that will work for every one of my requests. Laura, the stylist, patiently assisted me as I asked to try on a multitude of colors. She never pressured me to buy the store’s wig caps (I brought my own) & took the time to brush out every wig that I tried on. Still in thinking mode, I left & checked out other wig places (there are 2 decent ones nearby). FINALLY, I came back. Why? Customer service, had a great choice of options, and reliability. Like I said, this was my third time & my other 2 wigs have lasted incredibly long (like 5+ years).
Also, the quality of the wigs are outstanding! You may pay a little bit more, but they’re definitely worth it.
Laura even offered to style my wig before I left! So gracious! As my husband & I waited, Angie, the store owner, chatted with us. She was so friendly & gave me a quick history on their business. As we were leaving, the staff asked me to send pics of me at my job wearing the wig. For sure! It means a lot when the store is as enthusiastic about my creative vision as me!

I went to two wig shops on Hollywood Blvd, three if you count Hollywood Toy & Costume as a wig shop! I was waited on by three different people at this shop, all very polite and helpful.
I am hopeful that the wig I want will be just the way I am hoping it is. If it’s not, I’ll survive. I purchased two wigs, one from here, one from Hollywood Wigs. I will review the finished style with photos when I get it.
I paid a bit more at this store than the other, but I was looking at some of the wigs they have styled and was very happy to see the quality of the styling.
Update: I picked up my wig. It was on time and perfect. I ordered two wigs, one from this shop, one from another because I know that different stylists have different interpretations of styles.
I emailed several pictures of exactly what I was looking for and the person who styled my wig at Outfitters Wig of Hollywood got it exactly as pictured. I am thrilled with the color and the style. The women who helped me took the time to match a wig to my hair color and to determine exactly what I wanted. I felt as if they really listened to me and took the time to make sure the wig was customized to match the pictures.
I will be a repeat customer.

Do not buy anything from this merchant. They are rude! I purchased 2 items from them and one had to be made, but they did not do it the way I had ordered it. I brought it back for them to re-​do it and it took them almost 2 months and still was not done. The excuse they gave was that they had a large order from a movie production. No excuses! I had the owner sent me the wiglet back via Fed Ex. I wasn’t going to loose any more time and certainly was not going to make it easy for them by going out of my way to pick it up at store. In addition, they are over priced! Hollywood Wigs just down the street is the place to go. Nice and service oriented and very reasonable prices.

I frequent the wig stores on hollywood blvd more than the average person. As a costume designer and custom wig maker myself i frequent the shops looking for product and base wigs to make my own pieces from. The First time i went into this store i felt like i wasnt welcome. They are less than friendly and less than helpful, and to be honest, im not a tourist, so dont treat me like one. The ONLY place on hollywood blvd i will go for a wig is Hollywood Wigs, just a block and a half down from this junkhole. I even did price comparisons as of August 4^th 2011 a small Bag of Rast Afri Braiding hair (which says on the package suggested retail price 2.99) Hollywood Wigs charges 3.50 a package. Wig outfitters charges 9.00!!! WHAT! A Magic Touch brand wig priced at Hollywood wigs for 40.00 was 65.00 at wig outfitters! WHAT! a higher end wig priced at 90.00 at hollywood wigs was 160.00 at wig outfitters. WHAT! yeah exactly. If you go in for a custom style, you will pay twice what they charge next door. This doesnt mean their wigs arent nicely style, as some are, but why pay more? a few months back i told a friend looking for a Belle Wig from Beauty and the Beast to go to Hollywood Wigs. by mistake she ended up at the outfitters. She came back crying because they had charged her 250.00 for a snookie wig. Yes snookie. the bun on belles head was a giant tracy turnblad hump. I spent 2 hours taking it apart and pulling the CHUNKS of yaki hair that they stuck under the hump OUT of the hump.
avoid the snookie bump when possible.

I needed a custom Bride of Frankenstein wig in auburn. It’s beautiful, it’s held up great (I wear it every couple of weeks), and it’s all just teasing and hairspray.
They worked from photos and then made the final adjustments when I made it to the store in person (which for me involves an airplane trip). I’ve thought about having someone else style it but am not sure I’d trust anyone else.
One of my acquaintances occasionally appears as an Elvira impersonator, or a Betty Page. Her wigs have to look great; merely OK is not an option. When I told her I’d gotten my wig here, she agreed that this is the best place in Hollywood to get a serious, beautiful wig, particularly if you’re looking for something in a beehive or heavily sprayed style where a cheap costume wig just won’t cut it. They do film and TV work; they’re good.
They’re fairly patient and will work with you if you have only a general idea of what you want, or aren’t sure what color will flatter you. They’ll style the wig then and there. Do this if you can; they ship but it’s ghastly expensive and you may not get exactly what you want. They suggest calling first; I’ve been lucky but if you’re there during a rush you may not get individual attention.
Prices are a little high, but with the styling I think it’s worth it. I get wigs wholesale back home from a friend, but a good wig is more a kit than a finished item; without proper styling it won’t impress.

There are so many frickin wig stores on Hollywood Blvd, I accidentally reviewed the wrong one! Not only that but peopel have been posting storefront photos to the wrong stores! I
went there this weekend and picked up a business card and took photos of the store front… here is my original review for the CORRECT STORE!
Halloween 2007 I was the Bride of Frankenstein and needed a killer wig to top off my costume and I found it at Hollywood Wigs!
I remember walking towards the window display on the phone with my bf when he asked how long I would be and I answered «I just found the most beautiful wig ever!»
There it was, it was huge and black with perfect white streaks! I don’t know if I got a deal to be honest but I knew I had to have it!
They have such an amazing collection! I wanted everything in there!
I will definitely be going back and would recommend Hollywood Wigs to anyone!

My friends and I just came from shopping at this store. They are way overpriced and each time I would ask one of the girls how much the wigs were (same wigs), they would all quote us different prices saying they are on sale, but they weren’t. My friends and I thought we got great deals and ended up buying our wigs here since we didn’t know any better. We then went a couple stores down and the same wigs were almost half the price. We felt really ripped off at Outiffters Wig of Hollywood. I suggest going somewhere else, where the set price doesn’t change from sales rep to sales rep.

The first woman who helped me was great. The wig didn’t fit well. I was about to leave and another sales person came and sold me a wig that I later found out was too small on me. It was cheap $ 29 and was bearable for the night but in the end I was disappointed.

When one thinks of Halloween and Hollywood, they tend to think of one place to get wigs and one place only to get some cool wigage (that is soooo not a word) and that place is Hollywood Toys& Costume. And who can blame them. The store has a ton of cool wigs, along with makeup and costume stuff. But what it also has during the Halloween rush is a line that will take years off of your life.
And so, party people, I give you Outfitters Wig of Hollywood. This little joint has been around forever and their selection is great. They have blond wigs, brunettes, reds and more. Long hair, short hair, bobbed hair, and even that wig that Sammantha wore on that Sex and The City episode where she walks in on Richard with another woman. You know, the Raquel Welch collection. They also have really competitive prices and are generally about 10% cheaper than Hollywood Toys & Costume. I would pay an additional 10% just to not have to wait in that hellish line :)
So if you are in the market for a wig, give em a go. I’ve purchased several over the years and have never been called a tranny cuz they look all kinds of real.
