Haven’t eaten here yet and was hoping to try it. Called to inquire if they were participating restaurant month. APPARENTLY I sounded like a telemarketer and the hostess hung up on me. Lost my business that’s for sure.

party of 4, tuesday night, 7pm i’m really surprised at all of the 4 and 5 stars b/c our dinner experience was lackluster at best. long story short: overpriced for the quality and taste of the food you’re getting. service was great. ambience was dim — literally dim, we couldn’t see our food or one another very well. from what i could tell, the interior looked very cute. street parking, which is on sunset and during busy times, could be a disaster. over-priced for what you’re getting. very little value. we ordered ~ brussel sprouts $ 12: just a mushy mess. so overcooked that i couldn’t eat anymore. ~ cheese plate $ 18: this was the best dish of the whole night. standard selection of cheese, salami, nuts and fruit paste. ~ polenta $ 9: this was ok. kind of boring and thick. ~ scallops $ 12: these were also tasty and cooked well.(also note, how does a scallop dish cost the same as the brussels sprouts?!) ~ pot pie $ 26: i will have trouble expressing the great disappointment in this dish. i had read so much about it and as soon as i sat down, i ordered it, before looking at anything else. but it was dry, bland, and just gobs of unseasoned meat and mushy dark vegetables with a flimsy crust. for $ 26, i would make my own pot pie at home! ~ bread pudding $ 9: this was pretty good also, served warm with a scoop of ice cream. their menu changes frequently, so i may go back and give it another go.

Adorable atmosphere. It was super hip and comfortable. I came here for brunch and tried the poached egg and chickpeas, which was super filling. The service was also impeccable, they kept coming to make sure everything was ok. I came right when the restaurant opened, so I didn’t have to wait, but about an hour in, the place was packed and there was a long wait outside.

I have been here a couple of times and I want to like it, but I always leave feeling underwhelmed. The last time I went I had the ribeye and it came out cold. I told the server and she apologized and brought it back to the kitchen. When she returned with the late it was still cold. I don´t think they even tried to fix it. The flatbreads are tasty and I like the wine selection. But considering how loud it is and that the food is just ok, I don´t know if I would return.

After an art gallery opening, my friend and I came here for a late dinner. It was close to 9pm and the wait was still 45 min! Thankfully I was able to drink wine outside while I watched the cars go by on sunset. It just so happened that there was some low-rider-mob-driveby showing off their stylish old Cadillacs and such vehicles. Not that was entertaining. The food here was pretty good, I think? I remember somewhat liking the brussel sprouts and the scallops. Standard trendy california food affair. The reason why I didn’t give this place more stars was because the service was unattentive, unfriendly and maybe dare I say, somewhat rude. I got the feeling that the staff felt like they were too cool to be serving. We had to flag down and ask to order drinks, food, another drink and also the check. Sadly was not impressed with the experience for the price.

Not a bad place to get a brunch. Went here with the girlfriend. The line was of course long, but it’s LA, so it’s nothing new. The girlfriend wanted a cocktail, so we ordered mimosa, which was good to start off with. The smoked salmon was pricey, not too bad, but wasn’t as up to my expectation. Service was good; the waitress checked up on us frequently although it was busy. However, due to the long wait in line and the high price range for an okay smoked salmon, I gave it three stars.

9.9÷10 !! I brunch every saturdays with my brunch group, and this one is by far the best place I have been to! Service — im extremely picky when it comes to service. When I went, it was all girls with grey v neck tops and all very nice. I have been a waitress myself and when Someone asks if they could move to a different table, it can be annoying but they were all so accommodating! Food– Clean and just right! I eat very little sodium when I dont eat out, so most restaurant food is little salty for me. Yet they play with the flavors so well by mixing ingredients I have not yet encountered. Portion is just right with good flavors for all its dishes! This place is small, so I recommend avoiding busy hours. The interior is not too much, just clean and has what it needs.

The food is absolutely delicious. It’s incredible. The service is horrible. The servers have no idea how to tend to a table. And I will never understand why they decorate their bar with wine glasses, but refuse to actually serve wine in them. No one wants to drink wine out of a short tumbler. No one.

Pretty cool place — it’s on the main drag of Sunset Blvd in Echo Park, and a great place to grab a quick brunch. The building was actually a bit tough to find at first, since there were drapes over the window signage, but once we found the restaurant, we were seated quickly. The staff was pretty friendly and it was pretty evident that they are proud of their menu. They recommended literally everything to us to eat! We ordered the ham/gruyère/egg tartine, which was freaking amazeballs($ 11) and the banh mi($ 16). The banh mi was pretty good, but I would have been better with a fried egg inside, a dipping sauce(like the carrot vinegarette), more pickled veggies, and crunchier bread. Otherwise, it was pretty tasty — as the cuts of meat were excellent at the food flavorful. I really wanted to try the lemon ricotta pancakes that the waitress was raving about, but I was pretty full from the lunch meal. The service was fast and the rest of the menu items looked wonderful. The banh mi was a bit expensive for what we got, but otherwise all the menu items looked en pointe for price. Overall: Food: 4.5÷5 Ambiance/Service: 4.5÷5 Price: 4⁄5 Overall: 4.25÷5. Great job — I really liked this restaurant and I’ll certainly be back. I heard those lemon ricotta pancakes are epic, as are their dinner pot pies! oh btw, Parking is found on the street or in the cul de sac around the corner.

Ostrich Farm is the perfect place for a quick and casual brunch. I stopped by last weekend with a friend around 10am and there wasn’t a wait. It’s pretty small so not sure if it gets more crowded in the afternoons. I ordered the grilled ham tartine, which is basically an open faced sandwich — grilled ham, gruyère, poached egg on sourdough bread. It was good and I would order it again. The ham and cheese does make it a fairly heavy dish though. I also tried my friend’s avocado tartine — simple, yet tasty. Their brunch menu doesn’t consist of too many traditional breakfast plates, but I did enjoy what I tried. Will be back again!

Fell in love with this place this weekend over brunch. Not sure if it was the fresh made brioche cinnamon rolls, the gorgeous tartines, those blueberry pancakes we watched float by over and over… the creamy almond milk latte, or the perfectly seasoned bowl of French lentils, kale, roasted tomatoes and peppers literally bursting with flavor… but we can’t wait to be back for dinner. The space is lovely, the staff is incredible, the prices are on point, and everything we ate was perfectly prepared, stunningly plated, and just wonderful. I absolutely completely recommend Ostrich Farm — come with an old friend, a date, your mom… believe the buzz you’ve been hearing, this spot is tops.

«Your food will come out in just a few minutes» was said by the waiter. Little did I know that was to be the death knell of an otherwise planned enjoyable evening. The three of us arrived at 8:30 and were seated by 8:45. Not bad. 2 starters, scallops, duck confit. 1 pot pie 1 rib eye(which they didn’t have but substituted with steak) 1 pork chop. Side to share: Brussels sprouts with an egg, Sunnyside up. 9:15, Brussels sprouts arrive. For half an hour we have been trying to have a conversation but the acoustic situation is terrible. Not conducive for conversation. Waiter: «Your food will come out in just few minutes» We didn’t think much of it. So we waited. 9:25 Scallops arrived. Pretty decent. 9:30 Duck Confit– dry. Was it duck or was it chicken? Tasted like chicken… regardless, it was bad. «Your food will come out in just a few minutes» 10:00pm Main dishes arrive. HUGELYDISAPPOINTED. Pot pie was 26 dollars for store bought pastry that was placed on top of dry, overcooked beef and 3 «vegetables» no gravy. No sauce. Do you even know what the fuck a pot pie is supposed to be? Steak: cooked well. Fries were not seasoned at all. Pork chop: dry. Chewy, flavorless. So, the waiter was terrible at his job. Never introduced himself no cared to check on us. He said three things to us which was«your food will come out in a few minutes» which was a shitty attempt to ameliorate the situation which he was entirely aware of and did nothing to remedy. Kitchens do not just lose tickets or cook slowly. Dumbass waiter must have forgotten to place our order and thus this prolonged and utterly painful dinner. They did not have proper glassware as they served our wine in tumblers while everyone else had stemware. Buyer beware: Ostrich Farms look enticing and sings a beautiful song. It beckons you to come inside and enjoy yourself but this Siren has the desire to ruin your evening and charge you a dear price.

0 star for Ostrich Farm! Shittiest brunch experience ever! The waitress took our order at 1pm, by 1:30pm we asked her how much longer and she says oh just a couple minutes… At 1:45pm we asked her again after noticing a couple that came after us almost done eating and she says oh just 5 more minutes, it’s almost ready. At 2pm we asked her again, and she says it’s coming out right now, so we were ok please get it. She goes to the kitchen and realizes that the order hasn’t been placed yet/or has been lost. We eventually paid for the disgusting coffee they serve and left that lousy loud crappy place.

Loved this place! From the service to the food, everything was great! Ended up coming here on a whim during the Echo Park Rising music fest this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised that we were seated immediately on a Sunday at 8 pm. But as we were leaving, it looked like the place was filling up. It’s definitely a very cute and cozy spot for a date night, or else just a nice place to catch up with a friend. They encourage patrons to do tapas style, which I totally agree as well. You have to for sure start off with a flat bread — even the garlic + salt + butter one was amazing and well worth the $ 4 price tag. Also grabbed the meatballs(on point!), the mussels(super delicious), and the ahi(which was pretty good, but not my favorite). If I had to do it over again, I’d grab the brussell sprouts and the lamb chops cuz those sounded amazing, but that just means I have to return. Oh, and props to our waitress, who was super cool and friendly and helpful. :)

Ostrich Farm is really cute and I was pleased with my meal. Location is both a plus and minus, it’s right in the middle in Echo Park on Sunset, kinda a busy area with mediocre parking. It’s a good starting or ending point because so many places are within walking distance. My friend and I had dinner early on Saturday, around 6:30. We got seated immediately at a communal table, I would have preferred a private table but it was fine. I was really surprised by portion sizes, everything was pretty large unlike most restaurants that serve tiny plates. My friend and I ordered: 1. brussels sprouts with pancetta and egg– this was delicious and pretty large for a side 2. cesear salad– I added chicken to this. It was OK. I’ve had much better cesar salads, I found this way to heavy in dressing. I also did not like how it was plated, I think this type of salad would work best in a bowl and chopped up. The leaves were so long and hard to cut. Overall it was just really messy. 3. rissotto– my friend ordered this but I had a few bites… SO delicious. This is a HUGE dish, totally doable to share between 2 – 3 people, very rich. 4. salted chocolate tarte– very dense and decadent, not too sweet. I loved the tarte my only complaint was how difficult it was to eat. It was rock hard and so hard to cut. I felt like I was getting a bicep workout by eating this. No dessert should be this challenging to cut. Aside from the challenge of actually consuming it, it was tasty. OKIEDOKIE, so overall this place is great I just think they need to work on a few things. Service was pretty good and by good I mean delicious, the waiters and bartenders are gorgeous. I cannot remember eating in a restaurant full of beautiful staff.

This place is as good as it gets! A fantastic addition to the Echo Park neighbourhood, just across the street from Woodcat Coffee Bar. Parking is a bit scarce so be prepared to venture to the neighbourhood for that. Went here for brunch right as they opened and everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Their space is gorgeous, cozy, and pretty freaking chic. I had an asparagus, spring onion, béchamel, sourdough tartine(DELISH) and my sister ordered the lentil bowl w roasted vegetables, chiles, kale, sunny side up eggs, and house made tomatillo salsa. We also shared a side of bacon. Everything was so delicious and we both agreed to come back here again. PS: There’s no ostrich on their menu.

It was interesting to see all the upper class families of Echo Park gather in one place for brunch. All the women had funky haircuts and children with better fashion sense than most people I know. Everyone was really refined in their outfits and grooming — and the women looked like entertainment bigwigs with a lot power. For brunch, I ordered Poached eggs, chickpeas, feta, spicy tomato sauce(15). It was pretty good after I added the spicy part to the dish using Cholula Hot Sauce(which came in a little ramekin btw). I laughed for a bout 5 minutes — «spicy tomato sauce?» There was not an ounce of a kick to it. The ingredients were fresh which was expected. The tartines looked like the specialty dish here which I should get next time. My boyfriend’s grilled ham, gruyère, poached egg, sourdough(11) was large and filling. It was delicious and he was pretty satisfied. I’ve lived in Echo Park for 6 years — this place used to be a run down pupuseria that I went to once with my friends. It was quaint, but I knew it was dying. And Ostrich Farm is the absolute opposite. This place is not hipster. It’s yuppie. And pretty expensive, but the cost is to offset the waiters who serve you; they look like male models. Actually, they probably are male models. Seriously, go look for yourself…

What a trendy, cozy, and delicious-smelling restaurant! As soon as you walk through the doors, the enticing aroma of the viewable kitchen hits your face like a soft, beach breeze, luring in towards the bar. The entire place is small, with enough tables for about less than 50 guests. So, be sure to arrive early. My party ordered a few appetizers to start and two entrees to share. The brussel sprouts are out of this world — I mean, what DOESN’T go well with pancetta and sunnyside up egg on top? The pork/veal meatballs were tasty but didn’t have a wow factor for me. The osso bucco was delicious, and it paired so well with the bed of polenta beneath it. Though, I didn’t try the pot pie, my friends did say they enjoyed it. Finally, the wine. We opted for a bottle of the full-bodied malbec, which went so well with our meal. They typically serve your wine in short, almost whiskey-like glasses. I’m not too sure why most people complain about this, but there are plenty of wine glasses at the bar. Just ask for your wine to be served in those!

Came here just before 7 pm on a workweek and things were pretty quiet, but within 30 min the place filled up fast. Ostrich Farm is relatively small so I’d suggest getting there early if you’re with a large group. Overall though, both the service and food are excellent. My wife and I came hungry and decided on the rough chopped chicken liver toasts, flatbread with just oil and sea salt, roasted winter vegetables with horseradish sauce, and finally, the pork ossobuco. I am not a huge chopped liver person, but these were very good, with little of that strange metallic taste I associate with liver. The flatbread was great. Having just had the far pricer focaccia de recco at chi SPACCA, while that one may be better, at just $ 4, the flatbread from Ostrich Farm is a strong contender, not to mention a bargain. The veggies came roasted to perfection, with a nice light char. As for the plates, they may seem pricey and our waitress told us they are not intended to be shared, but there was just so much food. The ossobuco was incredible and didn’t even need a knife to pull apart. We ate what we could, and still had a lot leftover. It should be good for two complete meals. So if you’re turned off by the pricey main courses, just remember they are good for two. Overall it was a great dining experience. I really hope it succeeds and encourages more restaurants like it to open in Echo Park. Definitely looking forward to going back.
