History

Established in 1974.

this business was started by my father Jose chavez senior in 1974 to 2007 till he passed away. He always kept it as a family bussines taking all his kids to work teaching us all the he knew about trees. my fathers busines was a successed, people loved his work but after he passed there was onluy one decision to make? would his name end here or will some one hold up his crown and keep his business going. in 2008 I Jose Chavez Jr decided to honor his name by taking over his business not only by working, but by making it bigger by getting work more trucks, equipment, clients but most of all the clean name that he had by doing the best work that I can and making clients happy not rushing to othe jobs not making a mess but by making the surrounded trees better looking and healthier. So i did! i got trucks and good equipment but most of all Heart for this business. in 2011 i gave it the name of «One Day Tree Service» a fam business.2008 a new chapter bagan! 2012 im taking it to the next level…

hi! im the owner of One Day Tree Service, im 27 years old ive been married for about almost 6 years and have a beautifull girl of 2 years. i am a family oriented. ive been doing trees since i can remember a bout 4 years old i wasnt obligated to work i actually liked chopping trees down lol even thoug it took me about 8 hours to cut a 2 inch branch with a hand saw and i still have that piece of wood that started it all im guessing thats where i got my strenght from lol. im really a quite person more in the serious side but im learning how to loosen up a lil bit cause of my out going wife wich is a good thing lol. im in love with cars so dont be surprice if i try buying ur car haha just say no cause ill get in trouble wen i get home lol I like been in the out side i look forward waking up getting ready for work to meet new clients and projects. My father passed but i still have my mother and my 11 brothers and sisters big fam, dads excuse? the tipical no «TV» lol thats about it

Needed to trim down tree branches and bushes for my rental property based on my insurance company’s requirements. These guys responded the fastest and with more than competitive rates. Hire a licensed tree trimmer instead. One Day Tree Service cut my tree without my permission and did a horrible job. If Unilocal allowed me to post pictures I would.

We had to take down a 25′ tall magnolia tree in our backyard because a developer on a neighboring property, in the process of building a McMansion, severed ~50% of its roots. I called several tree service companies from Unilocal.While many companies opted to email the quote (and would either forget or misplace the quote), Jose came over and wrote up a quote on the spot, and his quote turned out to be the cheapest. The price was so low (almost half of the next cheapest quote), that I was actually a little concerned. But Jose assured me that he was bonded and insured, so we set a date (he was booked solid a month out and squeezed me in on the Monday after Christmas at 8 a.m.).
I checked in periodically with Jose just to make sure he didn’t forget our appointment (I’ve dealt with a lot of flaky contractors) and he always wrote back. On the day of the appointment, his crew texted me with their ETA and called to confirm if showing up early was ok (they ended up at my door around 7:30 a.m.). They started just before 8 (they were worried about making too much noise, but the construction workers on the McMansion started hammering away at 7:30) and got the tree down, grind out the stump, and cleaned up in under one hour. They even hauled out some palm fronds that were sitting by the curb (the city was supposed to pick them up, but hadn’t).
I was really happy with how efficient the crew was and how quiet they were (there was definitely some chainsaw and other machine noises, but otherwise they were quiet). I gave everyone a bottle of water and tipped them for the awesome job they did!

These guys were great! I called this morning about 3 large bushes/​small trees that were obstructing my view and wanted to have trimmed down. They were able to fit me in same day and arrived at my home just a couple hours later. They not only trimmed the trees/​bushes, they also cleared a walkway from an overgrown shrub that I hadn’t even thought to ask about until they arrived. The whole job was done in about 90 minutes, including clean up. Truthfully I hadn’t really thought about the cleanup part but they brought their own chipper and collection truck which was awesome – can’t even tell they were here! Even the neighbor came out to get their card, would definitely recommend and use these guys again :)

Best service ever! I can’t ask for anything more… they actually trimmed my tree and went beyond… they cleaned the area and left my place in a very good condition! I wouldn’t even look for anybody else to trim your tree.

The crew just left, and they were fantastic. Each and every one of the half-​dozen guys was extremely friendly and worked hard.
The job was trimming a very large avocado tree more than 30′ tall with a 35′ wide canopy. A few guys worked up in the tree while a ground crew guided the branches to the ground to make sure that nearby windows weren’t broken. Opposite the house, they had to negotiate some power and phone lines, which took some extreme acrobatics. It was great fun watching, and I felt as if I should have applauded. It was like having Cirque du Soleil in my backyard.
Meanwhile, other crew members took the branches and leaves to the street to be chopped up. When the cutting was done, a few guys then raked the yard and used a leaf blower. The ground looks better than when they arrived.
The price was extremely reasonable. Jose, who came out for the bid, explained that since I had a lot of cutting, versus sculpting, it wouldn’t take his crew as long, and so he wouldn’t be charging as much as I would have thought. He was substantially cheaper than what I twice paid several years ago for the same tree. A neighbor, who came over to watch the process, was so impressed that she took Jose’s card and plans on giving him a call.
It took awhile to get the cut scheduled, because they’re so busy, but it was worth waiting for. Fantastic job by a friendly and efficient crew, and for a great price. I couldn’t ask for more.

GREAT EXPERIENCE.
Team was efficient and respectful. They skillfully and safely trimmed 5 large camphor trees by our house. They also did a spectacular job with cleanup; the yard was cleaner than when they came!
Jose came out twice over the course of a year to give us two separate quotes since it took us a while to figure out what we were going to do with the trees. The day before the trim, Jose came out to put up no parking signs along the street. He is patient and easy to work. We communicated almost entirely via email (including the quotes). Overall, he responded pretty quickly to any messages. We also worked with Jose’s brother, Jorge and he was great. The company is insured.
Pricing was mid-​range. We were OK with this because of their great reviews, and because other cheaper companies came off as a sleazy or inexperienced.

Great experience with Jose and his crew. They were puctual and pricing was very competitive.
They were done in less than 3 hrs cleaning up my huge backyard. They had the right equipments with right number of people to do the job. They are not 2 men Mickey Mouse operation. It was impressive to watch them work. BTW, if you’re one of those OCD people who demand a return call in less than 2 minutes or need to get things done by sundown today, then they might not be a good choice for you because they’re extremely busy but for me, they are the last tree service co., I will ever need.

I looked at Unilocal and saw that One Day Tree Service got a great reference. I called and we scheduled a meeting via email. He arrived at the stated time, gave me a really good estimate for trimming 4 trees and later we scheduled a time for them to perform the job. My son was home when the work was performed. One Day Tree Service did the job promptly, in record time, didn’t damage any of my property and even skimmed the leaves that fell into my pool. I highly recommend this company.

Had a great experience with this company. They came out and took down two large ash trees that were on the back of my property.
One of the trees root structure had undermined a wall so they could not get their stump grinder close enough. They promised to return and finish the job when the wall was being repaired.
It was almost 10 months until I got around to rebuilding the wall. I called them and they came out within a couple of days free of charge. They finished off the job efficiently and even ground another little stump for good measure.

My 4 palm trees were in need of trimming hence I chose to have Jose’s team back to do the work. Have had 4 different companies handle my trees over the past 9.5 years. Bottom line: One Day Tree Service has been the best.
Why are these guys best? 1. Called Jose Chavez (owner) and he was at my house the next day, precisely as scheduled. 2. Jose gave me a very fair (actually aggressive) price. I know what is entailed to do the work and his prices are solid. You don’t need to negotiate a deal here. 3. They showed up this morning at 8 AM (actually a few minutes early). There were about a ½ dozen workers, serious crew. 4. My trees were trimmed perfectly. Nothing got broken and the mess was expeditiously hauled away. They were extra careful with my pottery collection moving everything away.
I have another good company I have used in the past. They charge almost twice as much. For my money I will go with these guys in the future. Been satisfied twice now and it does not get any better.

I wa so impressed by One Day Tree Service that I’m inspired to write my first Unilocal review. Jose and his team helped to cut down a large maple tree in our backyard that turned out to be rotting from the inside out. Although the job was more difficult than initially thought, they honored the original price. Jose also kept me updated via text and photos throughout the entire process, and has been responsive to any questions I have had since they did the job two months ago. If you are looking for a high quality, responsive, reasonably priced tree removal option, they are the company to use! I know I’ll use them again if I ever need another tree removed.

I had 3 dead cypress trees in need of removal before the next strong wind knocked them down.
I contacted Jose, the owner. He texted me back promptly. Although his crews were already scheduled, he made the time to get my job done within 12 hours of contacting him. The crew was fast, safe, and cleaned up after themselves. The cost was reasonable and fair. Even after the crew had left, Jose stopped by to inspect the work.
I will definitely call them again for future needs. I can see pride in workmanship. 5 stars!

I like to do my own tree pruning but there are times where I get caught up with life and the trees just grow too fast and I have to hire a professional to come in and clear out the foliage. This past week was one of those instances.
The ficus tree I had growing by the side of my house shot up above my roof some 25 feet above the ground which was well beyond a height I was comfortable going up with a straight ladder and chain saw. There was also another tree right next to it that was needed a good thinning and clearing out a lot of dead branches but was such a hassle because it was a hard wood and took a lot of time cutting it up the branches to fit the green bins the city provides for yard waste. I also decided to clear out a massive bougainvillea that had worn out its welcome.
In comes One Day Tree Service and Jose. The rate they gave me was in line with other quotes and they were able to come by the next day to do the work. Jose was able to confirm what I wanted and just from talking to him I could tell he wasn’t just some guy who had a chainsaw and would hack and slash my trees like some other guys I’ve hired in the past, pre-​Yelp.
On the day of the job, Jose texted me around the time he would be arriving just so I could clear and prepare the area if needed. When he arrived he came with a crew of two other guys and a chipper which I found out that he owned so it’s not like some other guys who have to go and rent a chipper and schedule you around that.
They did a great job. The cutting/​clearing was not haphazard and the shape was to my liking. In addition, they were thorough about cleaning up the area and didn’t leave one errant branch or twig strewn anywhere. Highly recommended!
