I love how amazing and talented Mary Clark is. She is such a patient and creative teacher. Its my first time talking a class with her. I am hooked

I’ve been a big fan of New Stone Age for 10+ years. Mary Clark Camargo is a native Eagle Rocker and one of the most talented mosaic artists in LA. Her studio is is a source of creativity and empowerment for all who find it. You can either commission art projects from her or take classes here. Both options are fun!
If you take a class, she will offer generous access to her materials, teach you all her secrets and support you 1000%. But be realistic about your own time and skill limitations. If your vision is grander than your time/​abilities, try something simpler.
Or become an art patron and let Mary craft what you have in mind! She can create all kinds of custom works — backsplashes, murals, garden globes, sculptures, portraits, whatever can be done with glass tile, ceramics and grout.
Either way, by class or commission, you’ll learn a ton and gain an original mosaic of your very own, one that is well executed, vibrant and beautiful.

Note to parents and caregivers for the elderly: Mary is great with all kinds of people, and I’ve never seen her lose her temper. However, this is an art studio. Students must be capable of independent work. Unsupervised kids and adults with reduced capabilities require too much direct assistance for these classes. Dementia patients should be cared for appropriately, not forced into an art class as a «gift.» Bad idea!

i have taken classes from mary off and on for a few years now. i drive from west covina and have friends that drive from murrieta to take classes with her. her prices are extremely reasonable and include materials. her time is usually flexible and she is very friendly and patient. i even had a small birthday gathering there last year that included some that had never attempted mosaics. all were impressed and learned a new skill. it is well worth your time and money to take classes here if mosaics are a craft that interests you. or even just to stop in and chat.

I had some mosaic experience before I took a class at Mary’s studio, but I knew I could learn more from her. She was very knowledgeable and encouraging, showing me where all the tools were and offering all kinds of materials to work with. She tailored her instruction to each individual student. I felt like she understood where everyone was in the process of creating individual pieces. I will certainly return to make more mosaics there.

I have taken group and private classes here at different times, for months each time, over the past couple of years. Mary Clark-​Carmargo is a very talented artist and an excellent teacher. Her prices are incredibly reasonable and I am beyond thrilled with the value I have received.
The studio is spacious and comfortable with lots of natural light. There is everything you need to make some really beautiful pieces. Mary works at your pace and helps you create your vision. I think it’s really a gift to be a good art teacher — they have to know when to guide you and when to leave you alone, and having taken other kinds of art classes from other teachers, I can tell you Mary nails it.
The best recommendation I can give is that I drive from THE WEST SIDE (!) of LA to Eagle Rock, because it’s that good.

Dont take classes here. I paid for a package of 5 classes as a gift for my elderly mom, as a Christmas gift. The lady who owns and runs the studio, Mary, got upset that she showed up late to class on the third and fourth sessions, and began yelling at and using inappropriate language with my mother’s caregiver (who, granted, has to move mountains just to get my mom to the class). To make matters worse, when I texted her to let her know why my mom would not be returning for class, she denied the incident, calling the caregiver a «liar» and a «flake», and then proceeded to call me the same when I told her that she was behaving in inappropriately angry manner! This is not a setting I would want anyone to take a child or senior to.
