Nature’s Brew

I just had the most amazing tofu scramble here. It has a sweet onion relish and it was just reallllly amazing, comes with a green salad and a really good dressing (I usually don’t eat the side salad and I finished all of this one). I also really appreciate the jam and butter (coconut?) that comes with the meal, the jam was so good. I got a large almond milk latte as well but I wasn’t very fond of the taste and I regret getting a large. They have vegan/​gluten free pastries and options which is amazing because the USC neighborhood was really lacking in that department. All in all, I’m excited to come back and try more things such as their juices. My only other complaint other than the latte is that I think the tofu scramble should be priced at the same price as the regular egg scrambles, since even organic tofu is much cheaper than eggs. If it was a couple dollars less, I would definitely eat here every morning before class!
Also, I just read that if its your first time here you get a cookie — might have been nice if they had asked if I’ve ever been there before! They also did not offer a frequenter card.

I didn’t learn my lesson of never eating at any restaurants near USC.
We spent over 45 minutes waiting for crappy sandwiches next to four obnoxious USC kids discussing high end fashion brands they like/​dislike and pilots they are currently working on.
The people who work there are nice (which is why I’m giving it 2 stars), but the food is not great and it definitely does not warrant a 45 minute wait for bad sandwiches and even worse company.
Maybe if I was still in college, I would have enjoyed it, but I’m old and cynical now.

Nature’s Brew is perfect for any USC students. It is conveniently located right on hoover. One down fall is that parking is extremely limited so it can be rough with the small lot in the back or finding a spot on the street.
The food they serve is very fresh and really delicious. I am such a huge fan of the quiche and the breakfast plates. They have a lot of juice/​smoothie options that are all delicious and pair perfectly with your meal. My personal favorite is the Noa’s Breakfast.
This place gets very popular for brunch so the line can get really long. I have found myself waiting as much as 40 minutes for my food not including the time I waited in line just to order. Some people study there while others just go to eat to the turnover for tables can also be super slow.

Omg, i orderd by phone for delivery and it came fast and hottt, let me tell first about the beef brisket sandwich, fullll of flavor nicly done it has that flavor kick in your mouth, also i had salad and smootie which was top of the line goood job

I love coming here. Good place to study/​get work done or meet up with a friend. Staff is always really friendly and accommodating.

My expirence here: ordered a turkey sandwich on sourdough (great sandwich with lots of meat/​veggies and great sauce), a Tomato/​cheese sandwitch (okay but too much sub dried tomatoes), a small cold brew (very weak coffee– had to ask for an iced coffee instead– wayyyy stronger and better than the cold brew), and a small bag of chips.
3 problems I had here: 1) Didn’t refund me my money for downgrading (in price) to the cold brew to the iced coffee. 2) it was my first time here so they offered a free cookie and they didn’t give it to me in my order. 3) the total price came out to 35 $! overpriced.
Pros: great food quality
Cons: cold brew sucks, overpriced menu with no prices on the menu, and the place was loud/​overcrowded

Why couldn’t this place have been around when I was still in this neighborhood. I literally can’t find enough excuses to go down here to pay this place a visit. Their sandwiches are fantastic. I don’t think you can go wrong with most of their sandwiches, though I fear I probably won’t enjoy either the Vegan or Kale. At least for me, personally, outside of those two, I’m golden.
I’ve also ordered them for delivery before using the RushOrder app. Great service. Used the coupon code, «HUNGRY3», which I think still works.

Wow, where do I even begin with Nature’s Brew. I guess I’ll start with a little history of this turn of the century masonry building that has stood the test of time. I grew up in the area and literally got employed by a local construction company established in 1946 and serving the greater Los Angeles area. Operating in the red, a new owner, a business graduate from USC, Spring 1948 purchased neighboring commercial buildings and a construction company from a French immagrant who sold everything as a package deal in early 1990’s. She envisioned a future endeavor by giving the fronts a new fascade. Those new fascades would eventually occupy Ebaes, Bacaro LA, Natures Brew and so on.
Natures Brew is located in a space that was home to Harry’s Hardware and paint that operated under a husband and wife team. This business remained as a tenant after many decades of service to the neighborhood. Harry eventually passed away and inventory was liquidated. The last of a true hardware store fully loaded with building supplies met it’s destiny. Even the show cases and rolling ladder that moved laterally showed years of use. Fast forward and you have «gentrified neighborhoods» coming up from ground incorporating existing structures.
Natures Brew is your neighborhood coffee house located just north of USC via Hoover st. Mostly caters to students and alike and offers a full menu for breakfast, lunch and brunch. Full service coffee with all your favorites, juices, smoothies and teas. Pastries are made daily in-​house and on display as you make line to order. Order’s are place in line and then you can find yourself a comfy chair or communal bench. You’re given a number and your food is taken. You won’t find any food under a heat lamp and everything is made to order. They do have free courtesy flavored spa water for your convenience.
They also boast eclectic overhead music as you enter from the rear or front main entrance that helps set the ambience. I swear these original wood floors and exposed brick walls still have a lot of character and only add more dynamics. I can still see feisty Harry and his wife behind a wooden glass showcase plus that old stench has been replaced with a coffee roast aroma that instantly brings satisfaction.
Some of my favorite items:
Breakfast Fav’ — Brooklyn bagel with salmon, cream cheese, red onions, tomato and cucumber. Very addictive and great way to feed your metabolism.
Lunch Fav’ — Tuna melt with albacore, melted provolone, lemon garlic aioli (in-​house) and hold red onions on this one.
Dessert fav’ — Maple bacon cookies, mini croissants, pecan tart and veggie quiche. Made fresh and NOT vendor supplied.
Parking is very difficult depending at what time you arrive because the area is so condensed with so many businesses LA Bacaro, Ebae’s, a yoga studio upstairs and everything else. Parking is very limited in front and rear of address. If you plan of using rear parking, you need to approach from 24^th st and I’ll let you figure that on your map quest. Plenty of bicycle racks up front with a very small section of sidewalk seating.
FYI — Parking stalls are very tight at rear of address.
They also have delivery service late into the night and you might want to call to make sure that service is available on select nights.
Live music (acoustic) is also show cased for your added pleasure. It’s a great place to read a book, study for that exam, group chat or just come in and plug your device and surf the net with free wifi.
Exit 10 freeway at Hoover st and travel toward USC.
I’m a little skeptical about this massive new commercial development further south on Hoover near Jefferson.
Folks patronize your smaller independent business owner providing quality service and quality food.

This is literally my favorite place in the entire neighborhood. I would live here if I could. The staff is incredibly friendly and knows me by name. Yup. I go there that much. It’s embarrassing.
Their coffee is amazing and so are their pastries. I wish they would give me the recipe to their espresso-​kale Nutella cookies (I know that sounds like the most LA thing ever, but they are incredible, as are all their other pastries). They have excellent, healthy salads and sandwiches too. Their breakfast sandwich on a bagel is my favorite, and I like their meatball pesto sandwich for dinner.
Make sure you ask for a wi-​fi password at the cash register if you’re planning on doing some work there. And pick up a punch card too (free drink of any kind after 10 drinks) – you’ll definitely be coming back.

The atmosphere: natures brew plays is soothing makes me feel like Bella from twilight. (Yes I liked that movies music selection). Overall my experience would have to be very mellow. Perfect for me when I start studying for my GMAT exam. There are plenty of tables with a few outside with yellow umbrellas. Inside reminds me of old town Pasadena (if you’ve ever been there). It’s a classic look with the menu printed on wood behind the counter.
The food: I went ahead and ordered a egg sandwich to go due to my lack of time. I was in a rush but that doesn’t stop me from giving them a well detailed review.
–I ordered a egg sandwich, on sourdough bread.
It consists of two scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon, ham, tomato & their homemade sauce. It’s 5.95+tax.
The cheese is well melted which is a plus for me!
The ham does feel like the one from one of those store bought packages, but I’m willing to overlook it because the eggs are just right. Is really like to know what sauce they use, I can’t put my finger on it.
The customer service: the employees greet u with a «good morning» and a sincere smile. Not a Kanye smile, if you know what I mean.
The cashier makes small talk with with is pretty nice.
I’d come again to try the Brooklyn bagel!

I frequent our neighborhood Nature’s Brew. The best pastry they have is the almond croissant, but be sure to get the large one, and it has a delicious almond paste inside and it’s topped with powdered sugar and almonds. Their small cookies are 3 for $ 1.25 and they’re. Go for the chocolate chip since it’s a classic, but other stuff are worth trying once. I’ve dined in for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and I often pick up stuff to take home. Their sandwiches are good and if you’ve tried everything you like on the menu like me, then go for the specials they have on the board. Favorites of mine include the Smoked Salmon Omelette from their breakfast and brisket on their sandwiches. To drink, they have smoothies, juices, coffee, tea, and more, and be sure to get a frequent card.
The venue is great and feels very homely and inviting, which is also the feeling you get from the staff. The service is excellent. There’s something about going to a place where they know you by name and remember details from short conversations you’ve had with them. The manager is great and friendly, as are the rest of the Nature’s Brew crew.
Nature’s Brew is also a great place to study. You get a limited time on WiFi and you find lots of students, mostly from USC studying or hanging out. It’s usually fairly busy and sometimes they have a full house with people coming back for more. They have good food, great service, and it’s a good spot.

I really like the atmosphere of this coffee shop. It’s really spacious and clean and the decorations are pretty cool! I also like the brick wall and mason jar light bulbs!
I had Cole take my order and he was very helpful in helping me choose my order. I was torn between the 2 lemonades and in the end he just advised me to do half and half which was a good choice because it was great!
Overall a very chill place to study and hang out with friends. I would definitely come back.

I love love LOVE. The oatmeal — I get it with almonds coconut and brown sugar with a side of milk. It’s a large tasty bowl that will totally start your day off well
I am not a fan of some of the other dishes however…
But I overall love the service and vibe of this place

Once upon a time, the hubby got me a delicious breakfast croissant sandwich from Nature’s Brew. They both did good that day.
Fast forward to a few days ago, when the hubby and I were feeling like munching on the healthier side (post-​Thanksgiving, of course). We decided to share a wedge salad and an Italian sandwich. So. Damn. Good. I walked out feeling satisfied, but not completely stuffed. The wedge salad has their take on a blue-​cheese dressing, but it isn’t as heavy. It almost has a lemony undertone. So good. And that Italian, oh man! The baguette was simply to die for, and that pomegranate parsley spread was absolutely the best thing I have ever eaten. It complemented the meats and cheese so well. The salad and sandwich were exactly what we were looking for in a lunch. Swipe right!
And, AND, their watermelon, orange, lemon, ginger, & pinch of chipotle drink was yummy!
The only downside to this place is that it is overrun by college students, so practically every table is taken up. It literally looks like I walked into an Apple store with laptops galore! Luckily, we didn’t have to wait on a table for too long. My recommendation to the brew, have students share tables (like the communal table), so that other patrons have the chance to enjoy your establishment. One student taking up a table of 4 is just plain rude.

Nature’s Brew is amazing! I would happily give them 5 stars if it wasn’t completely crowded during the school year. I love getting the combo of sandwich, quinoa side salad, and a latte or smoothie! So much delicious food to help me power through projects and studying! I don’t think you can go wrong with any sandwich at Nature’s Brew, but I would recommend the Torched Turkey or the Brisket Sandwich for any newbies. I also love the quinoa side salad because of the crunchy water chestnuts and smooth beans — yum!
They have great music, friendly staff, and a wide selection of healthy and delicious food that keeps me coming back! (The free wifi is a bonus too!) Just remember to come early during midterms/​finals so you can claim a table before the rush!

Man, I wish this place was around when I went to USC! I had a meeting downtown in the later afternoon so I came to Nature’s Brew for a late lunch and a couple of hours of work before heading out.
I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of chicken Waldorf. The sandwich was really hearty and flavorful. The salad was also delicious and not intensely creamy. Both items were made fresh after I ordered them, and you could totally tell! I was actually pretty impressed with the overall quality.
The café was full despite the fact that it was way past normal lunch hours. It’s really well set up as a good study /​socializing spot, and I had no problem securing a table with a plug. They also have fast WiFi, especially considering the number of people in there on their laptops.
Would definitely come back next time I’m around USC!

Really comfortable place to study, but the wifi isn’t the best. Although they have personal codes for customers, the wifi has to get rebooted a lot. I was there for almost 3 hours, and there was no wifi three times, so almost one stop an hour, which isn’t horrible, but if you’re on a deadline, I don’t know if to trust it.
My service was great, though, so two thumbs up, and so was my chai latte.

Found this great place by my parent’s house which is right by USC.
I use to come to this location when it was a different coffee house. They did great on making it look super hip with a great vibe inside. The breakfast plate I got was pretty good and simple, and wait for it only $ 5.95 for the bacon and eggs.
I got the iced mocha and it comes in a mason jar (i love mason jars). I will be coming back such a great place to come and grab food, coffee and snacks.

Man, if I knew that Nature’s Brew existed while I was still going to school at USC, I probably would have been a regular customer. Even though I wasn’t a coffee fanatic at the time, once I visited this café, I probably would have turned into one!
I went to Nature’s Brew for the first time with my mom and brother when we were going to visit the California Science Center last month. The café was pretty crowded for an ordinary Tuesday around lunchtime … most of the smaller tables were filled, so we just sat at the larger communal table with a few other people.
I loved the feel and atmosphere of Nature’s Brew. It seemed like a great place to hang out with friends, but it was also quiet enough where you could study or get some work done.
What I loved most, though, was the great assortment of pastries and drinks available at this coffee shop. There were small sandwiches you could choose from, as well as sweets and gluten-​free treats you could opt for as well.
We didn’t order too much during our visit there. My brother already had coffee that morning, so he just got something to eat. My mom and I had a late breakfast, so we just got drinks and my mom bought one of those delicious-​looking gluten-​free brownies to enjoy later. But we were all very satisfied with our choices and I wouldn’t think twice about revisiting this café if I’m ever in DTLA again!
Here’s what we got, as well as other menu items I would want to try in the future:
«Iced Mocha»: Mochas are my go-​to when it comes to coffee (haven’t mastered the ability to drink black coffee yet, so I always have to have chocolate in mine). However, this has to be one of my favorite iced mochas to date because it almost tasted more like a smoothie. The chocolate flavor was rich and silky; the drink was deliciously cold and refreshing. I loved the fact that it also came in a mason jar. I’m notorious for drinking my mochas really quickly because I love the sweet taste, but I made every effort to slowly sip and savor this one. It’ll be hard to deviate from this drink the next time I ever visit Nature’s Brew. Highly recommend this one, especially if it’s a hot day!
«Croque Monsieur»: My brother opted for an open-​faced tartine-​like sandwich for a light lunch. He said that the bread was flaky and tasted fresh, and the topping (I think it was a thin piece of turkey or ham and some cheese) was savory as well. Perfect choice if you’re looking for something a little lighter (it was in the display case with all the pastries) but don’t want a full-​on sandwich.
«Iced Green Tea»: Since it was a warmer day, my mom opted for this iced green tea. Sad to say, it wasn’t as good as the «Iced Green Tea» from Panera Bread that still reigns as my favorite. Yet, the cup was a good size and the drink was refreshing. I think my mom just ordered her green tea unsweetened … and it definitely needed some sweetness in there!
«Flourless Chocolate Brownie»: My mom and I aren’t gluten free, but I do love flourless pastries and this brownie looked especially good in the display case. It was small but dense, chewy and fudgy. If the label weren’t there, I probably wouldn’t have been able to tell that it was gluten free. If you want a small chocolaty indulgence, this one’s sure to please.
«Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie»: I love all things peanut butter chocolate, so this flourless cookie sounds like it’s right up my alley. I do aim to try this one day and hopefully it’s soft, chewy and moist … just how I like my cookies.
«Meatball Sandwich»: The sandwiches and salads here are supposed to be pretty good, and this sando’s first up on my «to-​try» list. It features meatballs, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and basil walnut pesto. I would probably ask if my sandwich could be made with light tomato sauce, but I look forward to tasting the fresh meatballs, cheese and pesto, which remains as one of my favorite spreads.

Adorable café stop few miles from USC who serve awesome Americano and brunch. My friend and I stopped in and I ordered the tofu omelette and an apple turnover. She had the salmon omelette and scone. Both omelettes came with side salad and choice of toast.
My tofu omelette was unusually salty. It almost seemed as if the cook spilled the jar of salt in the pan. The salad was fresh and dressing was a tasty vinaigrette.
The pastries, scone and turnover were really good. I’d probably come here just for their Americano and pastries.
The vibe is great with a hipster feel to it. There’s plenty of table seating. We shared a table with other customers, and it was all good! Staff are very nice and cordial
