My Gym

It’s a «gym»…for kids! Start ‘em young, I say ;) Our little girl got her first gym membership at 10 months old. Don’t freak out. They don’t have babies and toddlers lifting weights or getting all yoked out here or anything. MyGym is all about fun, organized, playful activities with other kiddos. They have weekly programs designed for various age groups that help kids «develop physically, cognitively and emotionally». There’s always (loud) music, dancing, exercises and activities that range from relays, games, special rides, gymnastics, sports, free play and story time. And parents, you should be involved too (that doesn’t mean being on you phone for the entire 50 minutes)!
The staff is great and are trained to help your babes build hand/​eye coordination, balance, strength, agility and flexibility while developing social skills and confidence. Jessica is our absolute favorite, hands down. Our little girl loved her! Jessica is a great leader, outgoing, great with kids and was so sweet with our little girl. We wouldn’t have enjoyed our experience at MyGym as much if it wasn’t for her.
The facility itself is a little old and rundown… it could definitely use some updates (or a new space altogether)… we went to the Manhattan Beach location for a free trial class and their space is AWESOME– much bigger, newer, organized, etc etc. This Santa Monica location is much smaller and has only a few parking spots in the rear lot. Sometimes you can snag street parking depending on the time of day. Don’t worry though, they keep the place clean and it doesn’t pose any sort of health or safety hazard to children. Our bae loved the ball pit, trampoline and swings. And my husband was always jealous of the little nuggets who rode the zipline.
It’s a little pricey for one, 50-​minute session per week, but it was definitely a great experience for the 9 or so months our little tot was actively enrolled. A definite perk is that you don’t have to pay all the start-​up fees if you decide to re-​activate and they offer birthday party programs and camps throughout the year which we’re planning on trying out!

Huge fan of My Gym. There are great instructors, always new activities, and a clean facility. I have been going there for several months. I have been to almost all of their competitor’s and while they all ave something to offer, I prefer My Gym. Overall, has been a great experience.

Last weekend I had a wonderful 3^rd birthday party for my daughter. These people are absolutely amazing. The staff is amazing. My daughter is an extremely shy girl especially among adults she does not know. But Brandon and Brian were so amazing and energetic that they made my daughter laugh and smile so much. She had such a wonderful time and was loving every minute. I cannot believe that she zip lines (numerous times) and was such a brave girl. Brandon and Brian had planned constant activities and were playing the entire time with them. I loved it and highly recommend this place and their staff for your little one’s next birthday party!

Love love love this place! We take the baby class and she LOVES it. The teachers are young, fun, and engaging, and really seem to like the babies. The activities encourage her to build her muscles and being around others crawling/​walking also seems to make her want to be more mobile which is great. I would totally recommend this place, especially for younger kids. My one small comment would be that I wish I saw them sanitizing in between classes. babies cannot get an MMR shot til one year old, so with the measles scare, I would feel better of I saw as much equipment as possible getting a sanitary wipe down before babies come in, but other than that, this place is great!

My three year old’s pre-​school buddy had his birthday here last Saturday. Aside from it smelling like a foot, it was a great place and the kids all had a blast. I still cannot believe my son zip-​lined across the room… must be some innate skill in how they know to hold on.
The staff was excellent. There were two staff members and they were great with the kids. As a parent who worries too much, the place was child-​proofed in such a way that I was not concerned at all when my son ran around and did whatever he felt like. An excellent place for kids’ parties and celebrations.

I had my sons 3^rd birthday party at My Gym (WLA location). The staff members were awesome! My son and all his friends had a blast. So many activities to entertain them. They were organized, friendly, and best of all entertaining. I’ve had my other sons birthday at Dan the man and I have to say that I would never do it there again. My gym is so much better!!!

This is a review based on a birthday party for a 3 year old in which we were helped all the way thru with the two staff members assigned to our party on a rare rainy Sunday afternoon is LA.
The staff of two helped us set up. Then knew exactly what to do to get the kids involved as they started rolling in. We had a large crowd of kids from 3 to 12 and they truly engaged each and every one. I was afraid the older kids would just be bored but I can tell you this day everyone was engaged and enjoyed themselves.
There is a wide range of activities. Kids are engaged with fun games and the changing arrangement on the floor: Swinging tire from ceiling to ceiling, what I can only describe as banana boat swing, a zip line, oh and the fan bubbles were pretty cool a la 90s foam party for 3 year olds.
One of our guests had lived in the area 2 years ago and was a regular at the gym amazingly our organizer first said «hey I remember that face» then remembered the kids name. I was equally impressed with the way he managed the kids, and after asking their names addressed them directly with the correct names. Goes a long way to both control and entertain them in a manageable fashion where they actually listen.
If you are considering having a birthday party here: 100% no doubt go for it for kids this age you will not be able to organize a batter party if you want them to be involved in physical activities and be engaged.
Side notes: small stuff but they helped arrange the food & drinks before the party, bag and get the gifts to the car after. If you get as great a service as we did you should also be prepared to tip the staff, it is a service job that I would assume some would be far better at then others. if the kids were engaged it is not by chance it probably means someone’s doing their job very well, and who knows maybe even likes it. Hope your kid loves his or her party at my gym.
Our little guy loved it but he did say we did not have balloons. So don’t forget the balloons. But the real lesson of this little side note is no matter how fun you try to make it even a 3 year old will find what you missed and call you on it. Best not to take it so seriously and have fun.

My almost 2-​year-​old daughter loves the classes and play sessions here. They sing songs, do athletic skills, perform puppet shows, and let the kids play on all of the fun sports equipment. When we leave, my daughter says, «More My Gym!»

We just had a joint bday party for my son and daughter and it was amazing! Vi and Danielle fully committed to making sure that all of our guests were taken care of. The kids were entertained from start to finish. It is really important to me that when I choose a location for my childrens bday party that the staff give 110% and Vi and Danielle fully delivered.

This place is amazing! My son loves to go here. The teachers are pretty consistent with their love for children and high energy. My son talks about his teachers Daniele and Vi even when we are not there. I am exhausted just Watching the energy of these two! We have gone to open play space hours as well and my son always has a blast! HIGHLY recommend this my gym.
Also very clean here. They take good care of this my gym.

Programs are excellent and staff is super, but the music is so loud I’m sure it causes damage to the children’s hearing. Most everything is well designed for the little ones, but the music is apparently for the staff, and the kids pay the price. If only the music selections and volume were appropriate for the children, I could recommend it.

I have been taking my daughter for quite some time now to ‘My Gym’ and it’s fantastic. All of the equipments are safe and fun to play without any worries.
Vi the owner and staff are very friendly and great to be around.
Also, I am glad there is free play on Thursdays to stay a bit longer and have more fun after class.
Highly recommend My Gym over any other facility.
Their fees are reasonable and class schedule.
Do not go to Gymboree. They don’t have great energy and not challenging enough. I feel like that place is only good for infants up to 1 year only the most.

Love love love MyGym, Vi the manager is a very special kind of awesome and though there is quite a consistent turnover in younger staff members (we’ve been going nearly 2 years) they are all without exception trained to carry off his enthusiasm and joy around the children.
They deal with any issues (a child getting hurt or aggressive or not listening) in a really kind manner and treat all the children like adults.
My son has come on leaps and bounds in his physical confidence — it’s not the cheapest but it is well worth the money, and they’re very good about letting us out our account on hold when we’re away, giving us a free holiday session when our normal class has to be cancelled etc etc.
Space is always really clean and well maintained (though be warned, it is chilly if you’re just sat watching). Can’t wait for my daughter to potty train so I can take advantage of Parents Night Out and we’re going to try out the birthday party for my son’s 6^th in October

My daughter was a bit of a late walker (Started walking at 16+ months) and she took her first steps at My Gym! I absolutely give this place credit for her first steps.
The staff are super friendly and accommodating. They make every effort to make your kid feel comfortable. You will be astonished by how well they remember names. My daughter is very cautious and quiet but they really do everything they can do bring her out of her shell — I appreciate their hard work so so much.

My daughter went to a trial class yesterday. The toddler gym is large and there are many activities to keep the little ones busy & happy. I would give them a 4 star for their program and friendly staff, but there was a very visibly sick toddler there sneezing with a runny nose & they didn’t ask her to leave. It is the parents responsibility ultimately not to bring sick kids, but the group leaders should enforce their sick policy. My daughter woke up this morning with a cold so we will unfortunately not be going back even though they have a really fun program for the toddlers. This gym is much better than Kidnasium though, so if your toddler loves gyms, this place is a better choice if location isn’t an issue.

Just wanted to toss in an update. Our son loves My Gym so much, he decided he wanted to have his Birthday Party here.
They did an incredible job. The staff had a whole series of games planned out to keep the kids involved and lots of «birthday» themed things for him to do, including riding out on a special truck as all his friends ran behind him and cheered.
If you are thinking about a place to have your child’s birthday party, I absolutely recommend My Gym.

I just had my 2 year old daughter’s birthday party here. It was nothing short of spectacular. The staff is so great with the kids. There were about 15 kids there and every single one of them had so much fun. They are so creative with their space. It was one surprise after another. If you are thinking of having a young child’s birthday party, I would highly recommend doing it!
The only challenge was parking. There’s a small lot in the back. Other than that, my guests had to find parking on the street, and it being West LA, there were a lot of parking restrictions (ie can’t park longer than 1 hour).

We love this place! We especially love Leia and Brian. Leia is so energetic and friendly you feel right at home. The kids have a great time there too. My son is 21 months old and we’ve been going here for about 5 or 6 months and in that time we’ve met so many cool and nice parents and kids for my son.
The layout of the play structure changes every week and they have few free play days where all ages can come and play. I can’t believe some of these creative rides/​activities that they come up with… thing you would have never thought of. My son loves the swings they bring out and sometimes they’ll put up an airplane swing looking thing on the zipline and push the kids. I wish I was a kids sometimes just so that I can ride some of the crazy stuff they come up with!
Anyway, everybody we meet, we always recommend My Gym to them and they end up loving it too! I’m just sad we’re moving to the South Bay so we’ll be leaving this My Gym. Hopefully we’ll be able to find great teacher we love down there too!

Leah and Brian ROCK! They are so sweet, patient, exuberant, and simply fantastic with the kids. We took our first class this past Saturday and they were so great and welcoming our daughter, and making sure she was safe and participated. My Gym really impressed me with the teacher to student ratio. There were 3 teachers for about 8 kids so the kids really got the most of their hour.
The area seems a bit cramped but the teachers make good use of the space, moving and maneuvering slides, bumpers, and swings. Equipment is clean and colorful. Parents and caregivers can sit or stand in the lobby/​front area and watch their kids. There is ample free parking in the back, and metered parking out front. The two restrooms are clean.

My son has been coming here half of his life. granted he’s only 18 months :)
The teachers are super nice, friendly, and warm people. The space itself is very clean and well kept. They do everything from puppet shows to songs and even dancing. It’s a one stop shop. If you have an active toddler, this place is perfect for you! Carson naps are the best after a trip to My Gym!
