Mr. C Restaurant

I am Back at this gorgeous Italian staple. It’s restaurant week in LA, so a three course lunch is only $ 25!!! The clientele encompasses beautiful people in business, entertainment and tourism. I’m not joking.
Now, on to the food. On my right, the party has ordered a simply layered Club Sandwich with perfect French fries. The tables to my right are savoring the soup.
I had the spinach salad and salmon with olives and roasted potatoes as my entrée. It was a hearty, flavorful, felt very Italian and I would have it again.

Food was ok. Nothing that stood out about it. The ambience of the restaurant was ok. Nothing that stood out for a more upscale spot. The seating was tight. Hey, the service was great though.

Ordered the prix fixe dinner – ultimately would have been better if there was less oil.
Ambiance was beautiful and the service was very attentive without being annoying. We sat there for quite a while after dinner and they left us alone to chat, and only brought the check when asked.
Surprised the spinach and mushroom salad was quite large, but also too oily for my personal taste. The bacon bits added a nice salt element but didn’t have much flavor. Ricotta added a tasted very fresh and had the texture of burrata.
Branzino was cooked perfectly, somewhat crispy skin but later fell soggy to the puddle of oil it sat in. The rice pilaf was slicked in an oil that was quite unpleasant.
Tiramisu was decent – didn’t really taste the coffee notes I would expect from tiramisu.
They also gave us complimentary meringue and butter cookies.

Had an amazing Dinner with friends at Mr C the other night. I wasn’t sure if it would be up to standard of the one in New York
It was as good maybe even better.
30.00 at the Vallet was a bit excessive even for Beverly Hills.

Thank you, Ignazio & Maggio Cipriani. Fresh and comforting food. Peaceful restaurant tucked away in a lovely hotel in Beverly Hills. My suggestions for lunch: bellini, rucola salad and pappardelle pomodoro.

All the single ladies have to come here right away! You know why? because servers here are very friendly and cute: P Some are from Italy «Ciao!!» and some others are from France «Bonjour :P»
Well, moving on to foods. My husband and I shared tuna tartare with Tonnato sauce, yellowtails with mint and avocado, pappardelle with sausage, baked tagliolini with ham, and for dessert, their famous award winning vanilla meringue cake.
Everything tasted good, I was little shocked that the drink I ordered came out only ²⁄₃ full of glass, though… It’s okay, it was delicious and strong. The cake was huge and yummy, but it was tad too sweet for us, wasn’t finger licking good as other Unilocalers had commented.
Anyhow, the restaurant is located inside this little gem called Mr. C hotel, off Pico blvd, little south of BH. While dining there, I saw many tourists mostly from Europe enjoying their meals as well. The whole experience made me feel like I am at the hotel somewhere in Europe traveling. Great place for staycation!

I get better service at a Dodgers game while I’m wearing a Giants jersey. The waiter came to our table FOUR times in two hours, and only after we flagged him down to tell him we were alive and we’d like to eat at some point. Even then, no apology. Nothing more than what I’d get from a peanut vendor at the ballpark. This restaurant is priced to be a special occasion, but didn’t treat me as special whatsoever. Though even if the service would’ve been better, the food wouldn’t have registered any higher on the star scale. The bartender in the lobby lounge made a fantastic cocktail, but once I left his bar, this place turned to junk.
I don’t mean to be so fickle or negative – I really wanted to like this place. But it didn’t even try to impress me. Stay away.

I booked this place online with Magellan luxury hotels a week ago. I’m very happy that I did. The staff are on the point. The rooms are super clean and the beds are super fluffy & comfortable. The bar has an excellent selection and the service is superb. The restaurant I found it to be just okay needs improvement as the competition is tuff in the area. Over all it’s an excellent place to come and stay. Cheers

Exiting Maude, but not slated to meet friends at Sotto until nine, my local pal suggested a quick stop at Mr. C’s to check out the crowd as well as some coffee, and stating that he felt the desserts were amongst the city’s best classics it was to a large wedge of meringue topped vanilla cake that we were treated, the moist crumb rife with vanilla beneath ethereal frosting while the scene itself resembled something out of classic Hollywood as tuxedoed gents ported huge plates of pasta to the ‘indoor sunglasses’ crowd.
Perhaps unworthy of the $ 14.95 shared dessert tab — let alone the $ 30 tariff inclusive of beverages, tax, and tip — but a fun stop none the less, it might be interesting to stop in to see a bit more of what Mr. C’s has to offer at a later date, the Dover Sole deboned tableside quite a performance piece from a restaurant known to have pleased many at its locations across the globe.

Ordered from the lunch pre-​fix menu $ 37.
Choice is salad or soup, entrée is salmon&pilaf rice or chicken curry or lasagna pesto, & the dessert that comes with is crème brulé.
Breads: looked beautiful like pastries, I just touched the pretzel breadsticks and they were good. Not too salty.
Salad: good 4/​5, simple spinach, lots of bacon bits, feta cheese, baby mushrooms, and olive oil. It was a huge bowl of it.
Salmon & pilaf rice: rice was bit hard but that’s the style of it. Rice was okay. The salmon had a great sauce and peas on top with lemon on the side. It was delicious because of the sauce, melts in your mouth. It was light and not greasy, not buttery either.
Chicken curry: had a few bites from coworker and thought it tasted bland. You can find better curry elsewhere. It was not that great.
Crème brulé: only the top layer was sweet and the bottom was not. The bottom flan was good.
Its a small & good for lunch with business people and one on one intimate date. The décor is nice. My boss bragged a lot of affluent people like to eat here because of Cipriani and the history.
They valet also. They were nice in accommodating our party of 7 and brought out pillows for those who sat on the couch.

Staying at the hotel. so what the heck, let’s review!
Pre fix Menu plus a bottle of Nebbiolo.
Service was fantastic. Pre fix menu was solid. Carpaccio plus the chicken Dish with a side salad. I also had the vanilla cake for dessert. That. Was. Amazing.
I had to try a side of their pasta because of their chops as an Italian icon. Quality, texture and presentation were all excellent… just not the most flavorful pasta I’ve had.
Overall a solid experience.

PLUS: Beautiful décor and a wonderful staff. The owner knows his ambiance and the service levels required for Beverly Hills. (maybe a little stuffy, almost arrogant for some, but hey it’s BH). Great live music in the bar (although they literally scoff at you if you make a request) and a pretty, not crowded restaurant w/​beautiful flowers (always watch the attention to detail with the flowers). Great for a dinner date or an unassuming place for a group to get their upscale party night started.
PLUS: Great bartenders who know cocktails. They even serve their Bellinis in the original glass. Although I like it much better in a flute. I mean you’re not going to be macho with a pink drink no matter what glass you put it in and the ladies love the flute.
NEGATIVE: The food. Not prepared with the detail this place demands. Soft mushy branzino, tough veal, (that’s almost a crime against nature). Some soft of mayo like stuff on my Carpaccio. Mayonnaise and raw beef… nah, doesn’t sound appetizing… it wasn’t.
Conclusion: Great atmosphere, great staff, great hi-​brow service, great bar, great music… and someday, great food.

How can I describe the ambiance of this hotel restaurant? It looks and feels like what an upscale restaurant in Cuba would have been in the 1960s. I wasn’t alive in the 60s and I’ve never been to Cuba but if I was and if I had, Mr. C’s is what I would imagine it to be like. The food was good yet overpriced and the wait staff was certainly attentive in their white button down shirts and jackets. It’s definitely a place for a «more mature» crowd. We went on a Wednesday for lunch and the restaurant stayed half empty the entire time.
There is only valet parking as the streets are strictly permit parking. We didn’t have a problem getting our cars but the patrons of the hotel complained about how long it took. All in all it was a nice experience but not a place I would frequent.

The restaurant is inside a nice hip hotel. If it werent for the décor and atmosphere Id would have given it 3 stars.
Food was fine italian dining. The green pesto pasta and the bucatini pasta were delicious. For apps their prosciutto melon was da bomb and their fried calamri didnt come with any marinara sauce which was disappointing.
If you love Manhattans the bartender makes them awesome here. Crowd here is more upscale and higher class so maybe not a great place for high schoolers to dine at.

I’d give Mr. C’s 5 stats but I’m deducting 1 star for the price. It really is expensive here but the food is to die for. We had one of the best italian dinners in a while. Definitely order the buccatini!
Service was superb and we got one of the cozy booths in the corner. Water was always refilled without us asking too.
Did I mention all 4 pastas we tried were very good? Chilean sea bass was average though. The beef carppacio was so so. They need to add capers to it imo.
The meringue cake was AWESOME! The cheesecake was more like a thick bread cake but still pretty good.
Drinks are really expensive here, so a nice meal here will definitely hurt your wallet. I’ll still be back here again though!

My wallet is really sad because I spent $ 14 on the tinest signature drink on earth in their restaurant bar. It was literally about 4 oz of a cocktail. It was good, but literally 3 sips later, it was gone.

The décor wins my heart. The entire lobby has replicas of Eames original furniture designs placed everywhere. They also have unique contemporary objects are are more like pieces of art on display. It feels so homey and comfortable, perfect for a drink. The restaurant feels European, but in a dreamy elegant fashion.
Our server was helpful, a little rude, but perhaps he just wasn’t taught certain social manners… he would interrupt or cut off people when ordering, and I really don’t think he was doing it on purpose… he was a little forgetful, but somewhat sincere.
Our food was delicious, my dish was a little small, while others were huge! Some of the pasta dishes were gigantic. I recommend trying the bolognese gnocchi or the veal pasta… for dessert you must get the crepes flambeed in gran mariner or some sort of orange liqour.
All in all, it’s a nice chic little place, definitely good for drinks and food. Love the rolls and all the bread they serve. It’s easy to load up on carbs here.
tips: a lot of people enter through the exit, make sure to read the sign carefully before you pull in otherwise it’s a little hazardous backing out of that drive way.

Had the most incredible DineLA lunch here!
In my opinion DineLA can be pretty hit or miss. A lot of the options don’t seem to add up to a deal at all. That’s not the case with Mr C! The three course lunch was a steal at $ 25.
We started with the avocado and artichoke salad with large shavings of Parmesan cheese. They let us sub this for one of the salads on the dine LA menu. We also got the bresaola (dried beef) from the DineLA menu and it was fantastic. The two actually worked really well together.
A peach Bellini didn’t taste like anything special, so I’d skip this next time. But the main branzino was a star indeed. Flakey white fish with a sauce of Olive oil and balsamic, it was expertly prepared and so fresh. The side of veggies was a little plain.
Most importantly, save room for dessert! Their meringue cake was from another world! Layers of white cake with a slightly sweet meringue piled high was the best cake I’ve had in recent memory. I am already planning to order it for my birthday next year.
Service was nothing short of outstanding. If prices were closer to dineLA prices, I’d eat here on the regular!

Is your meal on someone else? Then suggest Mr. C. It’s a classy, elegant, and delicious experience, but you pay for it.
In my case, I didn’t have a lunchtime benefactor, but I took advantage of their $ 25 3-​course lunch for DineLA. You never really know whether or not the restaurant is going to go all out during DineLA, but I got more than my money’s worth here. All three courses were full sized, and absolutely delicious.
For the first course, it wasn’t one of the options but they let us sub their chosen salads for their artichoke and avocado salad. It comes with an enormous sheet of shaved parmesan on top, so right there you know it’s going to be good.
For my entrée, I had the branzino, which came with a flavorful sauce and a side of delicious veggies. I peeked on the regular menu and saw that normally this dish is like $ 36. (Like I said, get someone to cover your lunch here!)
Last but certainly not least, there was the dessert. I was given a choice of several of their dishes but was told that that their vanilla merengue cake was their specialty. I could tell by the look on the waiter’s face that he definitely thought I should order it. It’s a GIGANTIC slice of vanilla layer cake with light, not-​too-​sweet cream and a toasted merengue top. Magical!
The only thing I was disappointed by was their bellini, another item I was told they’re famous for. It tasted completely average and it came in at $ 16!
The setting is beautiful if a little uptight, but there was no uptight or snobby attitude in the least from the servers. I haven’t had service this attentive and gracious in a long time! So while the branzino and cake are lovely memories, the best memory I have is being treated like royalty from this truly professional staff.

First of all, this review has nothing to do with food, and is solely based on the lounge and drinks. Just thought I’d throw that out there before you got into this review and wasted your time. Came here on a Friday night after eating a chili covered hot dog and Fritos at a double dog party (as in a pet dog) in Beverly Hills. Yeah you read that right, a dog party, and Fritos. And based on the prices at Mr. C’s boy am I glad I ate that hot dog, and enjoyed it! In fact, I wish I had had two and brought my own drink to Mr. C’s.
The prices were INSANE! Yeah yeah, I know it’s a hotel bar and all, but it’s crazy. I posted the picture of my receipt, and that’s right, I had only one drink, then got my hot dog chili eating ass in a cab and sped off back to Hollywood, where I can afford a cocktail. I ordered one drink, Ketel One Vodka and it was $ 18.48 then of course I tipped on top of that, so you’re looking at $ 22 for one freaking drink! WTF!!!
Say I’m cheap, I don’t care, but that’s insane. I worked in nightclubs in Miami and DC for over a decade and never saw prices like this for mediocre alcohol. It’s criminal, but hey if they can get that money, more power to them, but they won’t be seeing me there again. I’d be happy to pay the money for a drink, but at that price, it better be something incredible, light in on fire, sing a little song, do a little dance, just give me something… this is crazy!
The lounge was fine, nice, but there wasn’t much going on here as far as coming here on purpose, unless you’re staying at the hotel, at least the company I had was great. On a side note, if you use Über or Lyft it’s a nightmare. I ordered a car and went outside. There were like 100 cabs out front and drivers and I couldn’t find my car, it’s like looking in a Walmart parking lot for a car you’ve never seen before. So I hopped in a cab instead and then got double charged by Lyft for missing the car… let’s just say I’m not a fan of this place and I’m sure they won’t give a hoot not having my business, they sure aren’t hurting…
