History

Established in 2011.

Moon Juice was created by Amanda Chantal Bacon: World-​traveling chef, mama, sustainable lifestyle leader, and passionate medicinal food educator.

Moon Juice represents a holistic lifestyle that goes far beyond juices, milks, and snacks. It’s a healing force, an etheric potion, a cosmic beacon for those seeking out beauty, wellness and longevity.

People come to us for daily nourishment, beauty foods, and high-​powered natural remedies. We are a tangible touchstone for a community excited about a new way of living.

The first Moon Juice shop opened on Rose Avenue in Venice, California in 2011. We were thrilled to open our second retail location on Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake two years later.

Moon Juice is also in partnership with the Ace Hotel, beginning with the Moon Juice shop at the Ace Hotel Downtown LA.

Business Owner

Amanda believes that food is equal part art and medicine; as much about pleasure as healing; and that creativity and sustenance can be one and the same. Originally from New York City, Amanda first became enamored with the beauty of simple ingredients, culinary traditions, and a holistic approach to wellness while traveling the world and meeting healers, artisans, doctors and farmers along the way.

Time at the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont – at the forefront of the farm to table revolution – taught her the importance of sustainability, sourcing, and working closely with local producers. Hands-​on experience under award-​winning chef Suzanne Goin showed her how to hone in on the perfection already present in seasonal produce. A turn as a Food and Wine Editor at the Los Angeles Times Magazine defined her vision of a shop offering an elegant yet life-​altering approach to nourishment.

It was along her own journey to self improvement that led her to open Moon Juice.

Great fresh juice spot! Found it advertised in the Bön Appetite magazine (01.16 edition, page 14) and had to try it out. Very similar to mostly all the healthy juice and vegan places around if you’re looking for a juice bar with bites. We won’t get to frequent this one as it is a bit far from our home (Bev. Hills area) to do so.
Very pricey too! For two moon juices, turmeric shots, and over-​night oats, we were at about $ 50 so «to each his own».
The over-​night oats are so darn good though, it was my first time having them and until I know of another solid location closer to me with over-​night oats… I am going back to the Moon!

I understand the anger of spending too much money on juices but Moon Juice is pretty on par for the product and the neighborhood. Paid $ 10 for a green as hell juice and the lady behind the counter was super helpful in navigating the menu. (I’ve paid more for less and with nicer packaging)
15 minute parking right out front is super key for an in and out job, and the juices are pre made so it’s quick and easy.
I’m not mad at it, will go back and try some others. Came to add some color to the service which seems to have been spotty according to the reviews, but I had a very pleasant experience!

If you would describe yourself as a ‘yogi’, enjoy crystal healing, chakras and other new-​agey alternative medicine (or as some would say «woo science») then Moon Juice is probably for you.
If you don’t, you’re more like me and looking for something quick, lean, and green to make you feel better about that giant ½lb hamburger you just ate the night before.
My boyfriend and I stopped in on our way out the LA area (back to the bay…) in an effort to get something healthy into our systems after a long weekend. Nestled in a teeny-​tiny strip mall on Sunset it comes as no surprise that this place is next to a Bar Method. The overall vibe of the store was pretty ‘chill’ complete with crystals and air plants strategically located throughout.
They have a convenient grab-​and-​go cooler if you just want to run in and run out for some stuff but you can also grab a menu, create a list of things to buy and go up to the counter and place your order.
The juices are all pre-​made and pre-​packaged so if that’s not your thing head on over to the nearest Nektar Juice Bar with your re-​useable cup. If pre-​packaged is your middle name, bring your cooler and get ready to stock up.
I’d never had any of their juices before but I was pleasantly surprised by what I got. I got the Strawberry Rose Moon Juice and the Cucumber-​Jalepeno-​Pineapple Juice which were both really good.
So go for the new-​agey ambiance and great juices, but make it quick because the service was pretty dull.

People… please wake up. Paying $ 12 bucks for a smoothie is out of control. I don’t care if Gandhi himself grew the goji berries. Unless you’re super rich, how and why would you pay these prices for a beverage that doesn’t have alcohol in it?! Being healthy doesn’t have to cost this much. Too bad people take advantage of our desire to enjoy healthy diets, there are more affordable options. Find them. Beautiful store, beautiful products but this madness has got to stop.

Super happy with my mini Moon Juice haul. Everything I got today was about $ 4 – 10 cheaper than buying it off of the website. I loved the crystals and the setup it was a really inspirational experience, coming here. Two most notable items I got was the Sex Dust and the Jiva Apoha oil, which literally made my drive back home through LA traffic super soothing. I see myself coming back to buy every single item this place has. AND, customer service was great.
The coconut coffee milk is soooooo delicious!!!

I love this place. In a city filled with cold pressed juice spots, this place totally separates itself from the pack. They not only have cold pressed juices, but all types of nut milks I never tried before. I high recommend the silver strawberry.

Golden Milk is amazing. I believe in it. Yes it is super expensive. But I treat this place like a weekly or monthly health and nutrient infusion treatment. At my level, that is pretty much all I can do. If I had the money I would go here every day and get several juices per day.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE: RUDE, RACIST, BAD QUALITY.
I’m not one to write bad reviews – who has time – but this place was just too much.
Myself and 2 friends went 15 minutes before closing, only to be greeted by rude employees. I understand if they’d be annoyed with the machines cleaned and ready to be done with work, but if it’s still business hours you can’t turn away customers. Didn’t receive a «hello» or anything and received one word answers to my basic questions – said it was my first time, what’s the most popular, she said «depends.» Not only that but three other (caucasian) customers came in after us and they were given super friendly treatment and rambled on to their questions.
In comparison, their juice portions are smaller than others with subpar packaging, more expensive, with lousy service.

I’ve ordered delivery from moon juice twice. The standouts were the carrot lime coconut, california sun, and golden milk. $ 12 for this golden milk may sound outrageous, but being poor AF is fun and builds character!!!
I haven’t stepped foot inside yet but I probably will to try some of the raw vegan gluten free sweet treats and just get a juice or two instead of ordering a bunch for that free delivery.
What can I say, I’m a sucker for juices and gluten free vegan crap.

I can only give this place 5 stars! Everything was up to par, from product knowledge of the employees and customer service to the efficiency and quality of their products. I went with Walnut Milk and Chocolate Dipped Cookie Dough and my best friend went with the Turmeric Juice and Deep Chocolate. EVERYTHING was delicious! I was suffering from a few day long hangover and about an hour or two after consuming my milk, I significantly started feeling a whole lot better in the head! I really enjoyed speaking with the workers and they offered me a whole lot of in sight. I vow to never visit another juicery ever again, I’m 100% sold! Can’t wait to buy the moon dust set and rad neutral! Keep it up guys, can’t wait to see more locations!

I went to moon juice twice and so far i must give this store five stars! The first time i went there, the girl behind the counter really took her time helping me out to pick the juices for my cleanse. Today i went there to pick up my 3 days cleanse and they actually helped me carry those heavy bags to my car. I personally think they do have a great service :)
I honestly don’t really get the buzz about this store is being a ripoff. I think their prices are great! I know that there are other places that offers $ 190 for 3 days cleanse, but they only comes with 6 bottles a day. I got my cleanse for $ 210 and it comes with 8 bottles per day. Cold pressed juice is different compared to normal juice that we make at home, it requires crazy amount of veggies n fruits which is sort of expensive and troublesome to buy everyday.
Canyon green does taste like horse sh*t, I had a hard time finishing the whole bottle. But what gives, I would rather suffer for 5 minutes rather than having to eat veggies for 30 mins or so. It has a pretty good after taste because of the ginger, its really warm on the tummy.
I will be looking forward to come back to this store, after i finish my cleanse!

I love the strawberry juice here and am totally willing to spend $ 12 or however much it is on it every once in a while but their other juices are not good. Their bottled stuff is much better than anything they make for you on-​site so if you come here, buy something pre-​made.
The green cleanse, which I tried once, is HOR-​REN-​DOUS. Undrinkable, unfit for human consumption, you’re just throwing money away because it’s that bad, no way you’re gonna drink them, you’ll just toss them in the trash like I did. I made my coworker taste the Canyon Greens juice because I couldn’t believe how bad it was and she said it tasted like «spicy dirt salad.» The BluePrint green juice is so much better/​palatable and so is their nut milk so there’s no reason to switch to the Moon Juice cleanse. Go ahead and try the green juices here if you’re a glutton for punishment.

Listen, I get the whole juice craze right now and I’ve been taking wheat grass shots for years but really — this place isn’t worth it. Yes, I will tell you that right off the bat.
Wanna know why? A 16oz plastic bottle of juice, the cheap regular juice, is $ 9. I got a carrot, lime and coconut juice with carrot, coconut meat, lime and ginger and I most definitely could have made it at home with less ginger.
I was super happy and on a serious exercise high after a spin class on a Saturday morning, that I figured, why not get a fancy juice today? The girls were nice, without a doubt, and helpful because I asked what was best to drink up after a workout — they suggested the carrot or a super green one.
Yes, its organic and pure, unpasteurized etc. They do all the work for you, and you get your fancy juice in a cute little bottle. They also have totes and other items you can buy. The layout is modern and sleek; trinkets and other healthy items to purchase on shelves and juices in coolers for easy access. Not sure when I will be back but at least they were more pleasant than the juice place down the street!

Probably the worst juice I have had. I came in and asked for a suggestion between 2 juices and they highly recommended the Date Juice. I have had a great date smoothie at Silver Lake juices almost next door to Moon Juice and I make a really good date smoothie too. It’s not hard to fuck up.
For $ 8 I got the a *really* small cup of juice and it tasted horrible. I couldn’t finish it.
I would give this place 1 star but the girls behind the counter were really being helpful and the snacks look really healthy.
