Accidentally dropped in on goth night. Interesting. Other time was hip hop. Music eh. Vibe and crowd eh. If you’re bored and not willing to make it out to hwood, go to have a couple drinks.

Had a good time. It was Reggae nite and the music was great. Space was a bit small. Come early (like 10pm early) before the crowd. And there WILL be a crowd. Fun.

We went in on a Friday night, it’s usually popping but tonight was horrible! They moved the hip hop room to the front, there wasn’t enough room to dance and the music sucked! Not too much hip hop but a lot of boring music you would expect on a Sunday afternoon during a cook out with your mom and her friends. I definitely don’t see myself going back. Major disappointment!: (

Cool spot however the staff is so rude and unprofessional. First, the line to get in is ridiculous! There’s a line formed when there is barely a crowd inside, typical ‘club ’ tactic. Then upon arrival inside, I ended up leaving a birthday gathering because of the treatment I received from the staff! Started with the bottle service girl literally shoving me and the bartender having me wait until she served all the males before she got to me (the only girl waiting). I understand that an environment like this can be crowded but a simple ‘excuse me’ isn’t that hard… Never again!

I love 90s hip hop and r&b, motown and anything old school– this place on a Friday night was poppin! The wait time outside was about 15−20mins max, it was 11:00/11:30pm or so. The place was diverse and the mail dance floor area got packed pretty quick.
Didn’t get to check out the reggae room, but it looked pretty full. drinks were reasonably priced, not very strong though! Not that hard to get a bartender either. Pretty spacious place for a regular bar/​lounge setup– considering how small it looks outside.
Dress attire is casual, i saw guys with Chucks on, women in flats, booties, or super high heels and dresses. But it really is like a normal bar/​lounge scene. I would go here again if there were no other options.
I believe it’s free cover every night, but ⁵⁄₁₀ $ if you want to get in like right a way in the express lane. Go peep it! Good times ahead!

Great music, great vibes! Friday nights, old school hip hop and reggae/​dancehall. Every time I’ve been to medusas i’ve always had a great time and met cool people.

*Location Sucks (It’s kinda ghetto, in the middle of no where.)
*Crowd = Filipinos (No offense I love them because they are Asian-​Hispanics but it was too much. You see the strangest crowd here, I’m not even joking when I say everyone there were the people that are considered «losers» in teen movies. Such a weird crowd!!! Ok, sure I went the night before Halloween but geeze everyone looked so weird.)
*Drinks weren’t too pricey ($ 17 for both a Jack n Coke and cranberry n vodka.)
*No dress code!
*Valet $ 7, for an «eventful-​night, in this case Friday, October 30^th
Tips:
*Do not take anyone here that you would like to impress (I suggest Sassafras on Vine St., beautiful New Orleans style bar with live music)
*Get there at 10pm so you won’t have to wait too long nor pay.
*Valet your car, if you care about your car.
*Don’t go all out planning this «outing», it’s a place where you go just to not be home and not pay before 10:30pm lol

This place used to be good. It used to have great reggae and old school hip hop and was somewhere you could just lounge around, dance, and enjoy great music without the snobby Hollywood lounge or club atmosphere, long lines, covers, etc. The music is no longer good and the snob factor has greatly increased. They’ve started creating an artificial line and tell people in line that they can pay a certain cover fee to avoid the line but otherwise can’t let people in for a while because they’re at capacity. I hate waiting so my friends and i usually opt to just pay the cover. We go In to discover that the place is near empty. The only good thing about this place is the hot dog cart that frequents it late night.

I used to come here years ago on Fridays and Saturdays and it was poppin, the music was great and it was good vibes. After coming back here for the first time in years I have to say it definitely hasn’t changed much. Friday night was definitely jumpin.
HOWEVER, I accidentally left my card and ID at the bar on Friday night so I came back Saturday afternoon but it was closed. So I emailed and called all day Saturday with no response. Came back that night and they weren’t open. I emailed them again this morning with no reply and have even reached out to their social media outlets. Where is everyone? It’s not a good sign that they’re not open on the weekends and are extremely tough to get in touch with.
So word to the wise, close out that tab and grab all your shit cause chances are you’ll never come back no matter how hard you try.

I’m literally only giving this place one star because the bounced said my shirt looked cool.
This place sucks hard core. We waited like 30 – 45 minutes and it was practically empty, when we left since it sucked so much, the people who were behind us were still at the front of the line. This place is tragic, avoid at all costs.

Love this place! Chill atmosphere and great music! They play some old school hip hop and reggae on Friday Nights!

Batcave at medusa was fantastic! I loved how friendly the staff was. Atmosphere was sexy and welcoming!

The décor is so cool in here! I wish they enforced the dress code more. People were very casually dressed and they didn’t match the atmosphere… The valet is cool, $ 5. They do have an outdoor smoking area. Like others have mentioned, bathroom situation is very bad, just one.
The drinks are light, so bring a flask and chug before you hand your car keys to the valet.
We came on culture clash night for a friends birthday, reggae in the front and hip hop in the back.
Cool spot, wouldn’t mind returning!

Ended up here in a Saturday girls night & it was totally dead — there were less than 30 people in here for most of the night.
The drinks are good & well priced, its super easy to find seats it you want to chat & the music was pretty good too but there was a 1:1 ratio of staff to customers — it was so quiet.
The Single person bathrooms pretty much have a non stop line so don’t break the seal!

The architecture was pretty dope. Very Gothic scene. Its dark inside. I didn’t mind. We went for a birthday. Only issue is bathrooms are for single person, so if there is a line you’re waiting for a while. Drinks were reasonable price. Parking on street was easy to find. Music was good. Kind of stuffy in back room because no vents just a fan. You don’t have a coverage for sitting at a table. That was a bonus. After midnight the patio for smokers is packed. I rather not smoke then go out there. Overall, i liked the place.

Most of the reviews here are fake paid for or done by the owner, some of the reviewers on here only reviewed a few spots and gave this place a 5star so dont be suckered in here by the reviews cause there FAKE! lol
This place is Ok in side music is what ever the bar drinks are normal price like everywhere.
The line out side is so dumb what the owner does, he has the guards hold up the line make it look like its packed in there, like its happening, just like he does with the fake reviews.
he charges $ 10 on one side of the line like its a fast pass if you dont want to wait the other side he holds up the line will take u 30 to an 1hr to get in, so u end up getting tired of the line and get suckered in to paying the $ 10 and when u go in it’s empty lol hahaha.

Came here on a jan 2015 friday night. They don’t open until 10, we arrived at 950 and there was a line out in the street, my friends and i were like uhhh wtf since we didnt get IN until 1045, they were letting a group of ppl in every 15 min it was very annoying and i was soooo over it until once i got inside and heard the music
When ppl on here are talking abt old school hip hop, they literally played EVERYTHING from big L, lauren hill, 2pac, drake, common, j cole, d’angelo, dipset, justin timberlake (frm the 2000s), musiq soulchild, college drop out kanye, warren g, aaliyah, ll cool j, tribe called quest, soul 4 real, jay z, wu tang, biggie, beyonce… i can go on and onnnnnn it was fu*king wonderful!!! (Side note: i felt like i was in a new york club circa 2001)
they do have a smaller room with a reggae dj, it had no real ventilation but it was fun, i obviously spent the majority of the night in the main room. They have a smoking patio
Restrooms suck, 1 stall for the ladies = long lines.
Parking. street very scarce, small valet lot for 5 $
Didnt drink that night so idk abt them being watered down.
DRESS CODE: does not matter. Literally. There were 2 older females ahead of us in a skirt w wedges, her friend LITERALLY had jean shorts on with CHUCKS. I had on black jeans with flats and a dressy shirt.
Next time i come i will make sure to come in jeans, roshes, and a tshirt since ima be shaking my butt all night lol.

****If there is anybody from management who cares about Unilocal reviews PLEASE listen to everyone complaining about the line. Give priority to the people who have been standing before 1030 got damnit. Yes theres an «express line» but why should i pay 10 $ to get in when i was there before u guys even opened…

Came here for Culture Clash not too long ago. I used to live around the corner growing up, so I was very familiar with the area. Rampart really isn’t that sketch, not to mention, the Rampart station is around the corner. FYI, OG Tommy’s is also right down the street.
I like how the venue is decorated. The music is ON POINT. Reggae, hip-​hop, even their mash-​ups were dope. Prices of drinks were average, nothing to rave about there.
The first complaint I have is with the bouncers trying to get people to pay to skip the line. It’s lame as fuck, especially cause of the location. My second, the back room is waaaay too damn hot. I love to dance, but I really didn’t want to walk out of the room looking like I just got off Splash Mountain.
All in all, I’m definitely about this place.

Medusa Lounge is located in the Rampart District of Los Angeles. I have came here only once and it was for a goth night. It was pretty awesome. The vibe here is very vibrant with a mellow tone to it. The décor here is nice with a dark atmosphere to it. There are some nights when they play different music such as hip hop, Top 40, etc. The night I came though, they were playing goth/​industrial music from artists such as Marilyn Manson, Combichrist, Skinny Puppy, Covenant, Suicide Commando and others! I loved the music selection on the evening I came! There were people in costumes taking pictures. It had a Halloween vibe to it! Goth/​industrial and costumes definitely go together!
Quite often, there can be a line. I was fortunate enough to not have to wait in line on the night I came! They do have 3 rooms with fully stocked bars and a small smoking outdoor patio which is always full. Mind that the patio is very cramped in size! Drink prices were no surprise-​average priced just as any other lounge you will go to.
I have heard that they have goth/​industrial nights on the last Saturday of every month. Now that I know of this, I will definitely be going again. I was left quite impressed and would be returning… only if it is on goth/​industrial night.

I had heard so much good stuff about this place, specially the music (reggae/​hip hop on Fridays). With that said, I decided to celebrate my birthday there… of course to get a reserved area you must get a bottle service, And with the fact that it was my bday celebration I’d figured aah what the hell I’ll pay for an over priced bottle to have an area for all my girlfriends to sit. Boy was I wrong… I should of known better when I seen my bottle options and them listing my favorite Whiskey «Jameson» as Scotch??? I said aah probably a typo. But after that Friday night it is clear management is lacking!
Starting off with making people wait outside in line when the lounge is completely empty inside. I get it… they wanna attract a crowd but when someone is celebrating a bday, paying for bottle service, I see no reason why making 80% of my guest wait for more than 40 min. Plus… after waiting for so long they announce no one will be allowed to go inside, place had reached «capacity» by 1040pm!!! Are you kidding me! I was beyond upset. .and on my bday… I understand the whole capacity rule… but it is unfair to see the bouncer take money from people in the back outdoor patio area and sneaking them inside. Ugh, and did I mention this same bouncer refused to let me go grab something from my car… he claimed if I went outside he wouldn’t let me back inside… ridiculous! !
I was so hyped, excited to celebrate here… but after this experience I find it very hard to desire to go back… the MUSIC though… GREAT. That is the ONLY reason I gave them 2 stars. … this place needs New Management. .and bouncers at the door. …
