This guy is rude! The first thing he asks me is if I have a credit card and when I asked about rates so I can figure out how much it would be for multiple visits, he was very vague and got annoyed. He told me «I don’t feel like dealing with this, you either want my help or you don’t» Who says that to a new client?!

Having pain in my spine after crashing my motorcycle and breaking 3 ribs, I thought a trip to the chiropractor would help improve my situation, not make it worse. I was pressured into coming back for a 2^nd appointment, and told I might need MANY treatments, even though I felt no improvement after the first one. Before returning, I got references from other friends and called another chiropractor, explaining my issue. He told me that the part where my spine hurt was where ribs 4,5, and 6 (the ones I’d broken) connected to the spine, and that he wouldn’t touch that part of my spine with a 10 foot pole. So after the 2^nd visit, I told Mr. McKean I’d consider coming back when the bones were healed.
He then proceeded to charge my health insurance AND my auto insurance $ 510 EACH for these two office visits. My auto insurance only covers $ 1,000 in medical payments, which I needed most of to cover hospital bills above what the health insurance would pay. $ 1,020 for TWO office visits? And now I have to waste MY time dealing with this? No thank you. Mr. McKean has confirmed my worst fears about chiropractors, that they’re just in it to suck as much money as possible out of people. I’ll stick to acupuncture, as my acupuncturist actually speeds my healing process. I’ve felt fine, no thanks to Mr. McKean, all thanks to my acupuncturist and exercise.

I was actually referred to Dr. McKean after being referred by another highly respected chiropractor who was too busy to take me at the time (Dr. Fitzgerald.) That alone made him look like a great Dr.
I have only been to Chiropractors a handful of times in the past and always dreaded the ‘snapping’ of my bones during an adjustment. I was very happy to find out that this was a technique he had replaced with a much less uncomfortable (and apparently more effective) method using a specialized tool (not sure what that’s called exactly) that kind of ‘taps’ your spine in very precise locations to correct stuff (scientific huh?)
The reason I started going this time was my two kids (toddler and infant) were apparently wearing me out and one morning while standing and tying my shoes (I know, dumb) my back went out and I fell like a sack of potatoes. I somehow managed to endure with the pain for about three weeks before giving in and going to see Dr. McKean.
After the second visit I have ZERO pain! Yay! So needless to say «yay, I’m a fan!» I am planning to go sporadically for a while anyway, I don’t want this thing to rear it’s head again. ;)
The only minor negatives would be the location. Not the most alluring building or office but really I don’t give a crap about that kind of stuff as long as my back feels good!

I threw my back out picking up my kid and hobbled around for four days before calling Dr. McKean. I should have paid him a visit on Day 1, as he improved my mobility by at least 50% after the first session and greatly reduced the severe pain I had been feeling. I’ve been back a second time, and plan to go again next week as well. Dr. McKean will be my go-​to person from now on with any back and neck issues.

I used Unilocal to find help for my back, and found two chiropractors nearby. Both charged about $ 80 per visit, both were booked. One referred me to Dr. McKean, I’ve seen him 6 times, three visits for a neck and shoulder problem in the fall, and three recently for my lower back. The results were great. He doesn’t do hard-​core spinal manipulation (the «cracking» that some chiropractors use). Instead, he uses what’s called an «activator,» a hand-​held, spring-​loaded hammer-​looking thing that applies abrupt pressure to a small spot. When he treated my neck, he used a lot of massage, and worked out knots in my neck that have been there for years. Recently he also used electric current, ice, and then heat. He used massage after he loosened things up. The knots in my neck area haven’t returned, and the lower-​back treatment allowed me to get back to the gym. Dr. McKean charged me $ 150 for 3 visits. You aren’t paying for the décor or the view; you’re there to fix your back. If it hurts, he will help.
