How fun is it to have a Mattel Store inside the terminal(Delta Terminal 5 to be specific). Way to represent L.A.(office of Mattel is in El Segundo) and they are duty free. The display of Barbie dolls are small but very impressive. They showcase from the oldest Barbie to like rare fashion Barbies, but those are not for sale. The products they have are all clean and well organized. Lots of Frozen stuff! Go check it out. Very cute!

I came here to kill time basically. My sister collects Barbie’s and I came here out of curiosity as each Christmas I used to buy here the holiday edition of Barbie dolls and was curious as to what the latest Barbie trend was this year. This isn’t actually my first visit here. I’ve been here before with my best friend when we went to Coachella 2012 and when we saw U2 back to back Vegas/La SHOWS. In fact this is where I got my Joan Jett Barbie doll and my Deborah H. Barbie as in Vancouver the Toys R’ Us had limited editions. Plus with the CND $ decent at the time it made economical sense to get them here. Bonus points is that it is duty free = awesome. The last time I just came to look. Most of the toys here are Barbie, however, since years ago they have expanded their lines to Hot Wheels. Guy at the til informed me that they were bringing back the color racing Hoe Wheels. I am still waiting on that.

If your waiting on a flight like me. You can waste some good time by going into Mattel I had a nice trip down memory lane with the Barbie display. They have tons of hot wheels too.

Great place to pick up hard to find Hot Wheels cars if you know a collector. They are pricey at $ 3.99 each, but they make great gifts if you know what you’re looking for.

We were surprised to see this little Mattel Toy Store in Delta’s Terminal 5 at LAX, but my husband is a toy collector and was excited. They actually had a nice selection of Mattel toys for a tiny shop, but the prices were hilarious. Your standard, every day, 99 cent Hot Wheel was $ 3.99!!! That’s just crazy talk! The Pixar Cars toy cars that are normally about $ 7 were $ 15! So, even though they actually had some items my husband was interested in, he passed. The pricing is too outrageous. I always wonder about over-pricing. Seems like you could sell more if the pricing was more reasonable. Instead, they sell a few at a crazy price. Not sure if that is more effective, but what do I know about retail sales?! Best part of the visit is they have a mini-Bone Shaker photo op set up. The Bone Shaker is one of my husband’s FAVE Hot Wheels, so yeah, we took his picture! It’s something to browse in while stuck in a terminal with not much else to do… they had some nice displays, but I wouldn’t buy anything here.

The Mattel Experience inside of the LAX airport Terminal 5 is a fun addition for kids and parents. I mostly enjoyed the mini hot rod car backdrop for a quick photo before the flight. The interior is bright and separated in the middle with boys and girls toys on each wall. There are several touch screen computers to try out Mattel software. There are smartphone covers, mostly for the iPhone, that have Mattel logos and such.
