Don’t hesitate to use Maile’s Fine Pastries for your next party! Maile is friendly, professional, helpful, and most importantly a fantastic chef and baker. I called her less than a week before my son’s 2^nd birthday party with an idea of what I wanted and she made it a beautiful and delicious reality. My family are big fans of Maile and her pastries. The service is phenomenal and the food is gourmet. Whether it is a breakfast sandwich or breakfast burrito, we have always been very pleased with the quality and care that she puts in the food.
My wife has a sweet tooth and always come away with some additional desserts. We were so impressed that we ordered a birthday cake for our son’s 1^st birthday party. She delivered it and the 12″ cake seemed to weigh a ton. The rich peanut butter, chocolate cake was a hit. It was one of the tastiest and delicious cakes I’ve had. We still talk about how good it tasted.

it’s a hot holiday weekend, so i thought i would use my LivingSocial offer ($ 10 for $ 20 worth of food) to get some nice desserts to share with my husband. i had no problem redeeming the offer and found a nice place to have a cool lunch.
Maile is a very sweet, young woman that was working in the café and bakery by herself today. she greeted me as i entered, took my drink order, and made my lunch. i was the only one in the café. she was baking, but she came out every so often to check if i was doing okay. i had an iced tea with my turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich (which came with a cup of fresh blueberries) and a chocolate French macaron. the sandwich was toasted and perfectly stuffed with sliced turkey, crisp bacon, avocado, baby greens and tomato. i ate all of it! the sandwich was delicious, the blueberries were perfectly sweet (and very different from the melon and grapes restaurants usually for fresh fruit), and the macaron was crisp on the outside and soft and gooey in the middle. the iced tea was unsweetened (just how i like it) and she offered me a refill, but it comes in a pretty big glass, so i didn’t need it.
after i was done eating lunch, i got a cupcake in each flavor (chocolate, vanilla, lemon w/​lavender icing, and red velvet), French macarons (chocolate, vanilla and lime) and a raspberry jam bar. everything is delicious! the rocky road brownies were very tempting, but i think i should save something for next time. :) maile boxed up everything nicely and gave me recommendations on how to eat the tasty treats i was taking home (cupcakes are best at room temperature, but the macarons are good cold. make sure to refrigerate everything since the weather is warm).
Maile’s in inside the Bellisimo Café which is located in a strip mall. the parking lot is a bit small, so i was lucky enough to get a stall. i recommend backing into the stalls since there’s only one driveway (entrance and exit).
it’s a great little café to have a lunch and tasty treat! i’m sure i’ll be back soon.

I am really glad that I decided to purchase the group coupon for Maile’s Fine Pastries because this place is a diamond in the rough!
I went there today to redeem my coupon and discovered that they also served lunch so I decided I’d try one of their sandwiches. They had several sandwiches and salads listed on the menu but the turkey, cranberry and Brie cheese sandwich really jumped out at me.
I had a $ 12 coupon to spend so I decided to use $ 7 of it for the sandwich and then pick up a dessert with the rest. The place was empty except for the young lady behind the counter who turned out to be the owner of the bakery whose name is Maile (pronounced Mai — lee) and another young lady who had a slightly stern and unsmiling disposition and seemed to be working on paperwork at one of the tables.
After ordering to dine in, I sat at one of the tables. The restaurant was cozy with a few tables and was decorated rather nicely with black linen tablecloths under the glass tabletop and black chairs. It was nicely air conditioned too which was a great respite from the heat outside.

I was surprised that there weren’t more people there but the place is located in a small strip mall and and backed up a few yards back from the main sidewalk so most people probably don’t even know it is there. The parking lot was crowded from the other retail stores so I had to park on the side street a few yards up.
Maile delivered my sandwich to me and it looked really appetizing.
There was a side of sliced strawberries with blueberries on the plate as well. The sandwich looked delicious and one bite into and I was really, really glad I found this place. The bread was buttered on both sides and lightly toasted and there was a generous amount of sliced turkey, red onions, lettuce, tomato slices and smeared cranberry jelly inside. The Brie was nicely melted from being toasted and I was really satisfied with my choice! Maile stopped by every so often to ask how it was and I just exclaimed to her that it was delicious as she smiled back to me.
It didn’t take me long to finish my meal and so I went to look at the display case to see which dessert I wanted. They had cakes, brownies, cupcakes, a couple of different fruit bars, crème brulée and macarons to name a few. I asked about the Red Velvet Cake I saw in the display and she said a slice was $ 2.50. The other cake was a chocolate cake with cream frosting and raspberries and that was a slightly bigger slice for $ 3.50.
I decided to have the Red Velvet cake on the premise and asked her to box up the chocolate cake with cream frosting and raspberries for me to go. I also ordered two different macarons to try for later and she was nice enough to give me a sample of the Rocky Road brownie they had just finished making as well.
The Red Velvet cake was really good. The cake was crumbly and moist and the frosting was made with cream cheese which made it outstanding! I asked for a cup of coffee to enjoy with my dessert which was strong and freshly brewed.
I told her I would tell all my friends about this place and she was really appreciative. She said she had done 3 different discount coupon programs to get the word out as she has only been open since last November. She realized that their location was probably a difficulty as is the parking situation and said she’s trying to work out getting two spots reserved for her restaurant. It turns out she studied at the Cordon Bleu in Pasadena specializing in pastries.
They apparently share the store with another business that operates at night for dinner and is a catering company as well called Bellissimo Café and Catering. I took a quick look at the menu and it looked quite appealing with its listing of salads, pastas, desserts and entrées such as Chicken Marsala, Osso Buco to name a few. The prices were really reasonable too for what you get.
Well, I will definitely be back again for a breakfast or lunch sandwich, salad or desserts in the near future. If you are ever in the area, please drop into Maile’s Fine Pastries because you will truly enjoy their selection. Either dining in or taking a few desserts to go or order a whole cake in advance for a special event, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I love coming in here for a little treat before I go to Beauty Utopia next door. Maile is so sweet, and she makes the BEST breakfast sandwich! It’s totally reasonable too. Thanks Maile!

When I saw a coupon for this place I thought, ‘hey why not. I love pastries, I love Eagle Rock. Let’s do it.’ You can never have too many yummy places to go with the fam on a lazy Sunday. Even though we are constantly up and down Colorado we had never seen this place bc it is hidden away in a tiny strip mall right across from Spitz. The place really got my heart bc as we came to see we were greeted by Maile, our order was taken by her, cooked by her, and when we left we took a box of pastries that Maile probably got up at 4 am to make before opening her café/​bakery/​catering business for the day.
This is in most part a one (one tiny, sweet, young) woman show. The food was great! Between the three of us we had an order of french toast and an omlette. Both were fantastic, both we’re really well priced (seriously well priced for the fresh ingredients). They both came with a tasty little side of fresh fruit. I was also amazed by the omlette. My boyfriend often gets some variation of a denver omlette when he can and I am used to seeing the thin little confetti like pieces of ham, but the ham in this omlette was big left-​over-​from-​Easter-​dinner kind of chunks of ham. Amazing, delicious!
Like other people there was a slight delay. The french toast came out before the omlette and like other people had mentioned there was profuse apologies on the part of our gracious hostess. But it was Sunday, we were sharing anyway, and frankly you can’t knock a girl for a little lag on a dish that was well worth an extra 5 minute wait.
When we left we also took a few things to go: Crème brule, a berry bar thing, a s’mores brownie, and a little one bite caramel tartlet. All awesome! They were all spectacular.
We will be frequenting this place a lot from now on. If you care about supporting small business this is about as small as it comes and Maile turns out the yummy food that is absolutely worth the totally reasonable prices!

I’m sorry Unilocal readers, but you’ll need to disregard that review about Maile’s using «the cheap stuff». (Obviously some Unilocaler has blown out their olfactory nerves doing an activity that is still illegal in 12 states…) because Maile’s is all about mainlining the butterfat and sugar and Sweet Lord! You can TASTE that practically when you walk in the door.
Maile’s is a hidden treasure– tucked away in an unassuming mini mini mall across from Spitz. Don’t let that impede your quest for some freaking delicious faire. Here is what I love– The cookies– so amazing! Make sure you call ahead and see if the chocolate dipped shortbreads are in stock! The chocolate they use alone is amazing… but on top of that shortbread cookie… as the kids say… OMG!!! Those lavender macaroons are pretty addictive– The cupcakes are really swell too. Oh, and the scones… so freaking good! Lots of cream used in these.
ALSO-​This might be the only bakery in Eagle Rock where you can order Grade A birthday cakes. I had one last month at a friend’s party– chocolate and wicked good.
I also like their lunch soups and sandwich offerings. I’m not sure how they make the grilled bread taste so good– but again, DAMN it is good!

I’ll admit, when I first got there, I was ready to write a really bad review. I had called my order in the day before and told her when I was coming to pick it up. I got there and she said she was doing them and they’d be done in about 10 minutes and asked me to wait. She apologized and offered me coffee but I was annoyed. I had my daughter with me and we were looking in the pastry case and they had crème brûlée. She’d never had one so we asked to add one to our order. We ate it while we ate and it was SO good! She brought our order out to us when it was done, (which was 2 dozen chocolate strawberries) and couldn’t stop apologizing. Turns out they had an emergency in the shop that morning and that’s why she was late with my order. Things happen. She comped us the crème brûlée and didn’t charge me tax on the order. She went out of her way to make things right with me and that is GREAT customer service.

I had a chocolate chip scone, blueberry lemon tart and lavender macaroon. For a scone, it was suprisingly light and so yummy. Love it! Glad I bought 2 of them. The bite-​sized tart was a nice treat. The lavender macaroon was light too, but I didn’t really get the lavender oil flavor. It had a pretty lavender color though. Definitely, will be back for more chocolate chip scones. There was a small selection of goods, but there is something for eveyone at a reasonable price.

Based on the reviews, I thought this place was going to be great but it really isn’t. It’s a nice bakery with really nothing special going on. I ordered a few cupcakes: the red velvet, chocolate, and vanilla. Hated the frosted on them. The frosting tasted like the cheap stuff. The cakes were moist but tasted like margarine or Crisco. I would give it 2 stars just based on the baked goods but the service was great so I’m giving them an extra star for that.

To find this place, you have to go across the street from the Eagle Rock Plaza (Westfield) and Spitz to the most unassuming tiny strip mall (is it a strip mall?).
Maile’s is located inside the Bellisimo Café. Think of it as two café’s in one place. While Bellisimo Café is the Italian menu with daily specials, Maile’s is the desserts and sandwich fare.
Maile knows her way around pastries. My friend and I first had her cookies during an event at Leanna Lin’s Wonderland (a whimsical bead shop) and we vowed to visit her for more sweet goodness. I honestly don’t even like cookies that much, but the heartshaped, shortbread jam filled cookie sandwiches just melted upon my first bite of it. It was divine. The filling wasn’t too sweet and the cookie didn’t dry out my mouth and cause me to choke, which is always a good thing, ^_​^~
When I finally dropped by Maile’s in the café, Maile was there personally greeting everyone and working her way in the back. The first time around I tried her Cranberry, Brie and Turkey ($ 7ish) sandwich. It’s honestly not the fanciest thing ever, but it’s light, fresh and really delightful. The red onion was a surprise but it added a nice crunch to everything else and went really well with the cranberry and brie. You really can’t go wrong with fruits and cheeses. Even taking it to go, they’ll pack a little tangerine for you.
On another trip, I took my best friend along and we sat in the small café. She ordered the cranberry and brie, while I went for the BBQ chicken (I think it was $ 8ish). I honestly prefer the BBQ because it’s really thick, still juicy chicken with such a tangy and savory BBQ sauce. *yuum* Again, the red onion really made my day with that sandwich.
While the sandwiches are great, the star of the show really was the fruit tart and short bread like fruit cake that she and I got. Good lord, does Maile know her pastries. The fruits were so juicy and delicious. The cake was soft, not too sweet and that cream in the middle. YUUUM. What was so surprising to me was the chocolate at the bottom of my fruit tart. I really don’t like the taste of chocolate, but it really complimented the cream and fruits in the tart. I didn’t even notice until my friend pointed it out to me. It definitely keeps the tart from being too soggy at the bottom and adds just a little «Mmm! What’s that?» kind of feeling. I don’t know how else to describe it.
There’s various little wonders in the pastry case from French macaroons (yes!) to cake pops. This place is definitely worth dropping by and supporting, whether it’s for a quick lunch or a worthwhile indulgence. Say hi to everyone who works there too! They’re super friendly, attentive and great to talk to. ^_^

Maile makes the best tasting pasteries in the world! She makes awesome sweets! We regularly order birthday cakes from her and everyone always wants to know where we get our cakes! Everything that I’ve tried is wonderful. I would have to say that the lavender lemon cake is my favorite. It’s unique, light and YUMMY!
