Their banana pudding will take you to heaven! It is that good! Had heard about this place but this was our first time there and we are very satisfied! Cute design inside and good coffee compliment their baked goods!

I came here not knowing what they had but heard about their banana pudding so I wanted to try that out. After the first bite, I wanted to eat more and more of the pudding. It’s super soft and creamy. The texture is very fluffy and it melts in your mouth as you’re about to bite into it. I would definitely come here just for their banana pudding!

I’ve never been so disappointed in cupcakes as I was with the ones I took home from this bakery. I mean, really, how do you mess up a cupcake!!! Magnolia managed to do what I thought was impossible! I’d heard so much about the one in NY that I’d been chomping at the bit to try these. I found myself in the area for the first time in a while and I insisted on stopping in. The service was meh. Not welcoming and pretty «cold» for such a sweet looking atmosphere. Service wasn’t a priority and I can normally overlook that however given I was doing a review I figure I’d point that out.
Cupcakes were very heavy and dry, especially the red velvet and carrot cake. Several of them were borderline flavorless (carrot cake being one of them). A flavorless cupcake –GASP. Again, something I didn’t think was possible! I’ve never done a Unilocal review before but that’s how let down I was with these cupcakes!
UPDATE: I went on Memorial Day (Monday) and it was around 3:30.

I remember going to a magnolia bakery in Upper west side or Greenwich and leaving with at least half a dozen cupcakes every time. I’ve eaten so many cupcakes in my life that I think the magnolia cupcakes are not top of mind. However, when I moved to LA, my friend brought a tub of banana pudding that got me curious and branching out to the other stuff. The icebox cake is very light and it’s a shame they don’t have the strawberry one here. But you can easily add berries or fruits at home and you can also put m&m’s or caramel or whatever extras you want. You do have to order it in advance. I strongly suggest buying a banana pudding. I’m not a banana lover, but those puddings are bombdiggity (do people still say that?! :-P) whatevs! Point is, the chocolate banana pudding is dream (I tried both and love em both but I have a higher affinity for chocolate) Even if it looks blah, one bite and you know you don’t want to share and you don’t care what your thighs will look like coz all you wanna do is get in a bathtub of banana pudding/​chocolate banana pudding and eat your way out of it! Gross! But seriously. That’s the drugs that’s in there that will make you loco. If only I could start a banana pudding pyramiding scheme…

It’s great to have the famous NY bakery in LA! First thing first! I tried the famous banana pudding. It was good but not what you expect. The pudding is more whipped than like a pudgy pudding. The chocolate version, which also had bananas and wafers, was good also. The cupcakes are so cute and delicious. However they are on the very rich and heavy side. The icing and the bread are both very sweet. The ppl working behind the counter are sometimes nice and sometimes not. The place is pretty busy despite the expensive price. It a place for me to spoil myself with every once in a while but not too often because the desserts are too heavy.

I recently visited LA over spring break and I must say that Magnolia’s was my favorite cupcake shop the entire trip! –and I had a few to compare! After a day of shopping in the area and decided to try it out and treat my sweet tooth! Magnolia’s didn’t disappoint! Service was friendly, their cupcakes are most and delicious, and I simply ADORE their vintage-​style décor. #Winning

We went inside the store on Saturday, may 21^st around 1 p.m. and seemed like nobody paid attention to us. We saw another Asian woman standing next to us, waiting patiently. The employees were busy doing their own things, packing banana pudding. We were just standing there for about 3 minutes and one of the employee turned around and asked us if we were helped. I said no and this big guy started to assist us. I asked to taste Chocolate banana pudding since there was a sign to ask to taste for it. He Gave us a sample, no smiling. We ordered few things and couple cups of coffee. I ordered my ice coffee lastly, and he rang us up but didn’t mention anything like «I’ll get your ice coffee shortly». We asked «did you include ice coffee?» And he said yeah and threw the credit card signature paper at my husband. I mean, we went for their banana pudding but it is not that super and there is no reason that we should be treated like this… no greeting, no smiling and no respect.
P. s. sorry but their coffee tastes pretty bad too. If you’re gonna show such an attitude to us, offer good food at least. I would give 1 star but 1 more star only for their banana pudding.

The banana bread pudding is beyond delicious! The flavor is on point and the texture is exactly what I look for in a bread pudding — some bites more pudding, some bites more bread. Served in a to-​go container in various sizes. We got two large sizes for approximately $ 13.
Tip: Park at the first meter you see, then walk over. Also, call to make sure they have the banana bread pudding stocked as it occasionally sells out!

I’ve been wanting to try Magnolia’s for the longest time after seeing their pastel cupcakes featured on GoldBely. If you haven’t tried Goldbely out, you should! It’s an awesome way to sample famous specialized treats from around the nation. Shipping expenses can be a pain but I find it’s worth it to be able to try famous fares without being overly ambitious with the travel.
I came on a Sunday afternoon expecting a line out the door but I guess this place isn’t as popular as it is in NY. There was like no one inside which made my trip that much better.
I ordered two larges of their infamous Banana Pudding! And a lemon bar to diversify my spread. The Banana Pudding did not disappoint and totally lived up to the hype! I’m glad I purchased the original flavor vs the chocolate because the banana flavor holds its own against the vanilla base. Imagine a creamy slight banana flavored custard layered with vanilla cake and real ripe bananas. It was heaven! The custard was incredibly light and mouse-​like and the banana to cake to custard ratio was on point. I’d definitely return just for the pudding goodness.
The lemon bar was also tasty! It was the perfect amount of tart and sweetness and the bottom was buttery and flaky. I’d say stick to the pudding if you plan on hoarding goodies. I traveled from the SF Bay Area and this pudding help up fantastic!
All in all, solid place to grab banana pudding if that’s what you’ve got a hankering for.
(FYI, parking can be a pain. I’d advise to get dropped off and swooped back up again)

Delicious, old-​style cakes and their super famous banana bread and chocolate banana bred puddings. I love the chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and the vanilla cake.
I knocked down one star because I feel like the cakes are a little too sweet, but, otherwise, it’s definitely one of my favorite bakeries in town!

BANANA PUDDING!!! After reading all the reviews on the banana pudding, I had to get some! And I don’t even like eating bananas at all, only with peanut butter, but bananas by itself is blehhhh. They didn’t have a small size, only a medium or a large and I’m really glad they sold out of the small size, because I ate the banana pudding in 2 days! There aren’t many pieces of banana which I like, I enjoyed the bread and the cream a lot more. This is a must get!
I also got their tres leches cake. Not a fan of the white cream, the blueberries weren’t sweet, but the sauce was amazing. I liked it because it was really sweet, so every bite I took of the tres leches, I had to scoop some of the sauce with it. I’m not too familiar with tres leches, I don’t really know what it is, I’m guessing something with milk? It kind of tasted like condensed milk, so yummy. But if it didn’t come with the sauce, and it was just the cake itself, I wouldn’t have liked it.
I also got their vanilla cupcake. Not a fan of the cake, it’s pretty dry, and not moist at all. The frosting was just okay, I didn’t like the texture, kind of tasted like supermarket frosting, but I did like the taste, It was too sweet. Would I get a cupcake again? Probably not.
Their cakes look delicious tho, so I’m going to try that next time.

My sister and I made a long trip to LA just to try their infamous banana pudding and it did not disappoint. The workers were friendly and offered us samples of the chocolate banana pudding, which is not as good as the original. We ordered 2 larges and a day later we wanted more. It’s so soft and sweet with layers of bananas, pudding and vanilla cake, oh my, it’s delicious! I believe it’s around $ 6 for a large so kinda expensive. I also had a slice of the hummingbird cake which is similar to a carrot cake except it’s with pineapples instead of carrots. I chose it because unlike their other cakes, it didn’t have buttercream but cream cheese frosting instead! Yum! It was really moist and not too sweet. I didn’t try any cupcakes although they were so pretty, I heard they were dry. The shop itself is really cute. I will be back for more but I’ll stick to what I know is good!

CHOCOLATE BANANA BREAD PUDDING! This new creation they have is so addicting! If you are a fan of the regular banana bread pudding, then you’ll absolutely love their chocolate version which is made with Oreos instead of vanilla wafers. My friends and I usually come here before dinner on 3^rd street to pick up some as they tend to run out towards the end of the night. Yes, there were times we left with sad puppy faces since they ran out. My only suggestion for them is to make these bad boys in gallon sized cartons for fatties like me who inhale the medium and large cartons before getting home ;D

Chocolate banana bread pudding. It’s all you need to know.
I bike here every two weeks to grab a large banana bread pudding for the week. It’s a guilty pleasure, for sure.
Try it, you’ll never be the same person again.

When you first walk in through the doors, you’re immediately hit with the sweet smell of fresh baked goods waffling through the air and a pastel rainbow of colors littered throughout the shop. Then as your eyes quickly scan the contents of the shop, your eyes literally bulge out and your jaws drop about halfway when you see what the shops has in store for sale and to eat. From cupcakes to sliced cakes to cookies to drinks, each individual item just screams at you to pick it up and carry it over to the counter to pay so it can get into your tummy just that much quicker.
My favorites are the bakes goodies such as their peanut butter toffee bar & the salted caramel chocolate chip cookies that really just hits the spot. I noticed that they had pre-​packaged pints of bread pudding that seems to be their signature seller here. I can’t wait to try this the next time I visit.
TIP: Right across the street from the Bakery is a pair of the famous Los Angeles Angels wings that’s perfect for those seeking great photo opportunities to sport them!

This place has the best banana bread pudding. One of my friends took me here recently and told me they had some good desserts. But when I tasted the banana bread pudding I was not expecting it to be that good. It was delicious. Not too sweet, a perfect balance of sweetness. The bananas they use are fresh and perfectly ripe, some other banana bread puddings I’ve had used overly ripe and brown bananas. I go there just for the banana bread pudding, it is that good.
Considering that it’s a bakery I expected their other pastries to be also good. But they are not. I tried the banana bread pudding cupcake, it wasn’t that good. I other cupcakes and they were nothing special, But the tres leches cake was very good.
I also tried the caramel cake. it was really bad. The frosting tasted like oil. it was honestly really bad.
If you go there don’t get anything else except the banana bread pudding. The other things they have are a hit and miss. But the bread pudding is sure to please every time.
The place is clean and well maintained. The service is ok. When i asked some questions about what flavor the cupcakes and other pastries were it seemed like they didn’t want to answer and were annoyed by the questions. But the taste of the banana bread pudding make you forget about all of this.

I don’t really like pudding so when my cousin told me she was going to bring Banana Pudding for our family potluck I didn’t think of it as anything. My family was commenting how good it tasted so then I got curious. «Wow», I didn’t know Banana Pudding could taste so good; I was hooked! They also serve pies, cakes, cupcakes, muffins. cheesecake, cookies, icebox desserts, and bars.

I come here for one thing, yes the Magnolia Bakery’s Famous Banana Pudding! It’s light, not too sweet, creamy, and made with real bananas! The Banana Pudding has vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and wafers; it’s so delicious! The bakery is not close to me so when I do go, I usually purchase three small containers. They sell them by the following sizes:

When Whitney Houston sang about the Greatest Love of All, she was singing about Magnolia Bakery’s banana pudding. It’s quite possibly heaven in a cup. With it’s creamy, banana and nilla wafer infused greatness… it’s so satisfying. I first had the fortune of trying this great banana pudding from a good friend who would visit NYC regularly and as most others, became a big fan of Magnolia Bakery. He would tell us that the banana pudding was great, the red velvet cupcakes were good and so were some of the other cakes they became famous for. This was of course, before the cupcake craze that swept the country some years back.
I ordered 2 large ($ 6.50) cups & 1 medium ($ 5) cup of banana pudding. I also got 6 specialty cupcakes ($ 3.75 each). 2 each of red velvet, carrot cake and hummingbird cupcakes. The carrot cake was good. I love carrot cake and this cupcake was tasty with its cream cheese frosting. The cake itself was real good too. The red velvet cupcake was good. A little better than your average. But the hummingbird was my favorite with its banana, pineapple and pecan flavors topped with a cream cheese frosting. It was my favorite of the 3.
Service was super friendly. The gentleman that helped was just that, super helpful and informative. And when he was off getting the rest of my order together, other staff members checked in on me to see if I needed anything else. That goes a long way with me as far as customer satisfaction goes. Only drawback at this place is that parking is limited. So please read READ the street signs. It looked as if it was permit parking only in the residential streets. Metered parking on 3^rd street. Seating inside is limited to 3 – 4 small tables for 2. No restrooms that I saw for customers inside… I will be back soon for that glorious banana pudding. Thank you New Yawk!

Magnolia’s is a NYC-​based bakery that is well-​known for its classic American baked items and is credited for starting the cupcake craze. There are a few Magnolia Bakery locations spread throughout New York. Having lived in the city for four years in college, I am grateful that Magnolia’s opened up a location in LA that is just a drive, rather than a plane ride, away.
2. What should you get here?
While I’ve tried a variety of cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery, my favorite dessert here is the banana pudding, hands down. It’s creamy, it’s cold, it’s light, and it’s simple. The bits of vanilla wafers and chunks of banana slices add a nice texture to the pudding. It’s everything you want in a dessert and more.
3. How are the cupcakes?
The cupcakes are good, though not show-​stopping. The cake itself is moist but the icing is on the sweeter side. However, Magnolia Bakery deserves credit for concocting a delicious cream cheese frosting that isn’t overly sweet.
If you haven’t tried the banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery, bookmark it immediately.

My friend who lives down the street from Magnolia recommended this bakery after our hiking adventure in Los Liones, so we thought we deserved the extra calories! She wasn’t kidding when she said to try the banana pudding, it was amazing! I think it’s my first time trying BANANA BREAD PUDDING and it was delicious! I’m thinking about making it myself, that’s how much I loved it!
Besides the amazing banana bread pudding, we also got an assortment of other desserts. We tried their pistachio cake slice and their tres leche cake. I really like the pistachio cake because it wasn’t very sweet and the cream inside was like buttercream compared to icing. The only unfortunate thing was when I ate a bit of the cake, there was parchment paper baked into the cake. So I let the employees know and they gave me another slice. I asked for caramel cake to try but it wasn’t as good as the pistachio. The caramel slice was a little bland for my taste. You also MUST order the TRES LECHE. So milky and creamy. My taste buds were going crazy. The fruits were a great touch to the dessert.
Overall, I cannot wait to come back here to try some more of their desserts. Great customer service and such a cute place to eat desserts on a Saturday afternoon!
