MagIQ Room

We had my sons 12^th Birthday here/​We had quite a big group so we split them up in 2 rooms — the Wizard Room and the Pirate Room. We were so impressed with this place. The rooms are decorated perfectly for the themes. The puzzles & clues are challenging, but not impossible. Both teams were able to finish & get out and even had great times to make it on to the Wall Of Fame. They even supply costumes if the kids want to dress up? And what kid (or even an adult who is still a kid at heart) doesn’t like to dress up as a Pirate or a Wizard!!!
The party aspect of the package was just as fun. They set up tables & chairs in the actual escape room, which is really cool. The owner/​party hostess (her name is Isabel) does an amazing job setting up, serving and making sure the kids had fun. She even led them in a dance contest and also had a special little surprise for my son.
The entire group had such a great time and said how much fun it was. And my son ended the day with saying, «That was my best birthday party ever»

I personally didnt get to experience this place but my son (9 y.o.) did for his bday party and loved it. It is a pretty tight space so dont think you can accommodate more than 10 kids or more than 15 ppl total (adult/​kids). The hostess helped them out in the Pirate’s room a lot. She was super sweet and helpful. Cute little perks with the party package… like a game of hot potato (with a fake bomb), good tunes while eating, setting up tables and eating in the actual pirate’s room where they played the games, and firework type thing on top of sparkling grape juice at the end.
A couple parents even went into the room with the kids to watch and take pics while us moms watched on the screen with no volume. So we had no idea what they were doing. :) it took about an hour for them to get through the 3 small rooms & we got an hour to eat.
They are pretty flexible with what you bring to the party. I was going to create a party table but dont bother bc theres no space or time to set it up since you will eat in the same room as the game and have to wait until they are finished. The room provided enough «theme» and decorations, so that was nice. They provided the paper goods, snacks, capri suns & utensils & you provide the food. But I brought more drinks, matches, cake, candles, chips, sweet treats & paper goods too.
Dont bother calling bc they are either not there or are in the party room or dont check messages. You need to email whatever email address they provide on their website… maybe it is

Anyway it was a good experience for my 9 & 11 y.o. sons. They thought it was cool and they were all busy trying to solve the puzzle so no one person really dominated. I wanns try this place now. However it is not worth more the $ 800 dollars they quote is the original price when I got the $ 199 groupon deal for a 10 kid party… so use the Groupon deal while it is there. It is a good deal for 200 and bringing your own food. And tip the hostess bc she helps so much!
Parking is behind the row of buildings but there are only like 3 – 4 spots behind their black bldg, so street parking might be a better option.

We celebrated our daughters 7^th birthday with about 16 kids. They all had such a good time.
We decided to have the group of 7 year old girls in the wizard themed room and the older kids, oldest being 15 in the Pirates den.
The hostess was the nicest, patient, welcoming person. She really made it exciting for everyone.
The kids were so excited, they wanted to go again!
We are already planning to return!

I went here with 2 of my friends (all of us have done dozens of escape rooms) and brought all of our kids, ranging from 5 to 9. We did the Secrets of Wizardry room and the young’uns had an amazing time. For 3 of them, it was their first room, and they were all very excited to explore and work on all the puzzles. When we finally escaped, the kids were so high on adrenaline that they begged to do another room on the spot. Since the Pirates Den was available, we headed back in, and that was an awesome room. The theming was strong and the décor was amazing! The puzzles were a little less fun than the Wizard room ones, but the kids enjoyed themselves anyway. This is a great place to introduce young escapers to this fun pastime. I’m looking forward to going back and doing their third room.

Very fun and everyone had a blast. We did the pirates den and it was a really good one. I definitely will come back and do the other rooms.

This was our first experience… party of six adults. I felt it was a hair crowded, but everyone did participate and was able to contribute. The presentation of the room was excellent. We did the pirate themed room and it felt like we were in the belly of a ship.
I wish there was a little more variety of puzzles and a little more difficulty involved, but it was well worth the money and good enough to get the group hooked on escape rooms. We got out, but we used two hints… hints that were obvious when we heard them.
I would highly recommend this experience as an entry level escape room. Additionally, the service hostess was very nice.

What a fantastic experience. Great for our preteen daughter and her friends but they could adjust the room to be more difficult for adults. The staff is wonderful. The room are perfectly decorated and makes you feel like your in a different environment. We did the Pirates Room. I can not speaking highly enough of this experience.

A versatile, fun and welcoming place. Magiq Room’s pirate game was my third escape room and the woman who welcomed us was probably the most warm and inviting that I’ve experienced of all my escape room experiences.
We initially signed up for the Egyptian room, but upon arrival, the woman who welcomed us let us know that the Egyptian room was more tailored to younger audiences (we were an all-​adults crew of 8). She offered to switch us over to the Pirate game for free, as it was not being used at the time and would offer us a more challenging and engaging experience. While waiting patiently for our last group member to arrive, the woman chatted us up and made us feel welcome and shared some laughs with us.
When the game was about to start, she offered us some pirate costume props to wear so that we could get into the experience, which was kind of fun. I donned a pirate hat, and my girlfriend opted for a wizard’s robe, which was actually for a different room, but you know, she wanted the wizard’s robe.
The room (s) itself was a little on the small side, but if you’ve done escape rooms, you know that that’s par for the course. The escape room was very enjoyable, and even featured an appearance from a drunken pirate ghost, played by the woman who worked there. It was hilarious and a lot of fun. Afterwards, we shared some laughs and took a group photo and went on our way. It was a memorable experience for an escape room veteran such as myself, as well as for the first-​timers.
The price is very reasonable too, I wasn’t in charge of specifics, but we all paid about $ 20 each for the time. That’s about low-​to-​middle ground in terms of pricing for escape rooms in my experience.
Located off Pico and Robertson, parking is not difficult on the weekends – there’s plenty of street parking.

MagIQ room was challenging, but not discouraging, fun, but not belittling (three levels of difficulty), and the staff was friendly and available!
General stuff:
— There are three rooms, each with increased difficulty — the Wizard room («Secrets of Wizardry,» easiest), Pirate room («Pirates Den,» medium), and the Egypt room («Pharaoh’s legacy,» most difficult).
— 60 minutes to finish your challenge
— You have a walkie talkie to communicate with the staff for hints if you get stuck
— Challenges are not physically challenging — a four year old can complete the tasks physically.
— Facilities were clean and new
— Rooms were pretty cute too, but no pictures allowed
— Phones aren’t allowed either to help you through the challenge (That’s what the staff is for!)
My experience:
My group came for a birthday, and the staff was helpful, clear, and friendly! We signed a customary waiver, and decided to lock the door (psychologically more exciting haha). Our group finished just before our deadline (a clue had gotten us stuck for a bit), but it was fun!
Tip (my thought, but as explained by their FAQ):
«What’s the ideal team/​group size for an escape room?: For adults, or older children, the most compelling and exciting adventure games occur with groups of four players. With only two players, the game is more difficult but still possible. The maximum number beyond which we will not allow the game to be played is seven people.»
They’re a relatively new business, but worth your time. It was my first escape room, but it is something I’d like to do again!

My friends and I did the Pirates Den on Saturday night and everyone had a blast. We had 8 people in our group and 3 had never done a room escape. The company is located on a pretty busy street but luckily we were able to find street parking and the meters are enforced only until 6pm on Saturday so we didn’t have to pay for parking. Yay! We also didn’t know there was a parking lot in the back of the building. The hostess was friendly and told us some history about their company and the origins of escape rooms, it was really quite informative and interesting to hear that Hungary came up with the escape room idea and make it a business. Apparently, there’s tons of escape rooms in Hungary… guess I’ll have to check one of them out if I’m lucky enough to go there Our room was scheduled to be from 6:30 — 7:30 but there was a group still inside our room trying to finish it… the hostess asked us if we mind letting them finish… they were taking a whole lot longer than expected or the hostess started their room late? Long story short… we started our room around 6:45…15 min later than the original start time. Slightly disappointed that we started late since we had somewhere we had to be at 8 but I wont take a star away for that.
On to the room, the puzzles and props all tied into the theme of the room. The puzzles were unique enough that my husband and I were caught off guard (we’ve done about 18 escape rooms). The technology is not super complicated but you do have to think out of the box quite a bit. We got out with 52 secs left on the clock and this room was medium difficulty. Hopefully they get the timing of the rooms and scheduling more organized in the future.
Overall, great company… recommend them for people new to room escapes. Also… their room themes are kid friendly (not scary) so it’s good for families with young children

Super fun night out with my family! I was a little worried that I wouldn’t enjoy it, but everyone had a lot of fun in the end… Even with the momentary family quarrels while you’re trying to figure out clues.
Before you go in the rooms you get the feeling that it is for kids, but we had a group of 5 adults and the medium level pirate room was just difficult enough for us. The puzzles were difficult enough for it to be somewhat challenging, but still fun and not impossible. We really want to come back and try the harder room!
The two girls working were very helpful, friendly, and made us all feel at ease. You can radio in to them with a walkie talkie if you get stuck.

First time doing an escape room and it was lots of fun.
We did the Pirate Room which was about a 3 out of 5 in the difficulty rating but had a great time figuring out clues and solving puzzels to get to the pirate booty treasure! 1 thrilling hour to get through puzzels and several rooms to find your goal.
All the challenges worked as described. Our tools functioned properly as well. Sophie our host was really great with getting us situated in the beginning and explained all we needed to know.
The room is totally safe at all times and there are walkie talkies and survelience cameras to watch the participants in case any help is needed. We managed to finish our challenge and escape just in the nick of time. It was a real challenge but an awesome time for our group of 4.
I found this on a Groupon deal and am so glad I did it. I am definaetly going to try the other rooms PanIQ and MagIQ has to offer.

Amazing setup! I’ve been to quite a few escape rooms before, but this place has best décor by far. Each room is crafted with details and lets you get immersed in the fantasy.
The puzzles are well thought out and have interesting varieties. I especially loved the unique mechanical puzzles — I’ve never seen many of them in other escape rooms.
I tried all three rooms with my sister, and we were able to escape all rooms with hints. We escaped the Wizard room in time and were short of Pirate and Pharaoh rooms by just a few mins.
This also looked like one of the most kids friendly escape room compared to the other ones I’ve been to. They host birthday parties, where the game master will go into the room with the kids and the parents are able to monitor the room at the lobby.
There are plenty of street parking and also a lot in the back, so there shouldn’t be an issue finding a parking spot.

We have experienced several different rooms in LA, and this was one of my favorites. The puzzles were interesting and clever. We did the pirate room and succeeded but needed a few clues. The decorations were great including an actual ship façade. The host running the room was really helpful and friendly too. I definitely recommend this room for adults and kids. In fact, it was my 14 year old brother that figured out the last clue that got us out. We plan on coming back and trying the Pharoah room and their panic rooms in Hollywood.

Myself and 7 of my closest friends had the Secret of Wizardry room all lined up. Last minute we decided to switch the the Pirates Den… great choice. We’ve all done a few escape rooms before and were looking for a good challenge. We’re going back to try the Pharaoh’s Tomb next time. This place is definitely more geared towards kids. Fun and interesting rooms!
We loved the staff and had an amazing time getting to know them. Can’t wait to head back again real soon. Parking is very simple all around the area, we all found free street parking after the meters had been turned off.

We have been waiting for a kid friendly maze/​puzzle/​escape room to open and we are so happy we found this! The kids, ages 8, 7, and 4, had a great time. My 7 year old son especially loved it and everyone got to contribute to solving things. This is a well done production and such a fun family experience!
The staff is super friendly and really good with the kids! Highly recommend it if you are a family that loves games!

SO MUCH FUN! We did both the PanIQ rooms (Bunker and Asylum) on Barham so when the news hit that the MagIQ room was open, it was not a matter of whether, but WHEN could we get there to check it out.
Did the Pharoah’s Tomb with a family group of 8 — three adults, four teens and a tween, and it was crazy hard but we made it. The production value here makes it such an amazing experience. Feels like you’re Indiana Jones.
The management is so cool, the rooms impeccably kept. We even got free street parking (though there was plenty of parking in the back I didn’t want to get parked in) Can’t wait to come back and check out the Pirate’s Den with my teen son’s birthday party and the Secrets of Wizardry with my 11 year old’s gang. Don’t wait — go now.

Awesome escape rooms! Set ups are unbelievable ! For all groups and ages. I would do my nieces/​nephews birthday parties here.

We played the Wizard room and the Pirate room tonight. Magiq is definitely a great company for new players and families!!!
I went in with really high expectations because of the price of the game. I figured the higher cost in comparison to other rooms meant there would be exceptional technology and wow moments that would make them stand out above the rest of the rooms in town, but that wasn’t the case. Basically this would be a five star review if the games were less expensive.
The price changes depending on the time/​day which you play. It is a buyout so you won’t be paired up with strangers. We managed to get it to $ 29.40/person with a discount code and playing at 10:30pm which is about the regular price for most rooms except with other rooms we’d play at a time/​day that we want to, not late after work on a Friday just to try to get the price down. We could’ve found more people, but I am glad we didn’t because there were several points in both games where we were all just standing around with nothing to do.
Now I feel I should point out that our group consisted of 5 adults that have played a lot of escape rooms, so our experience may not be typical for most groups.
We escaped the Wizard room without hints in less than 30 minutes. The pirate room was a bit more difficult for us, but we still escaped with a bit of help and time to spare.
The themes are fairly unique. The sound design was cool. Both rooms are VERY well decorated. They are beautiful and the detail is there from the floor to the ceiling in both games. They could easily be movie sets.
There were a couple of completely unique and fun puzzles, but we had seen many of them before in the other rooms we’ve played. They weren’t cohesive to the story and the hint system takes you out of the story.
