History

Established in 2010.

New mom Sandy Barajas was inspired to create Luludew after she searched to find an ideal cloth diaper with the features she wanted and came up empty-​handed. In her quest to find the perfect reusable diaper, Sandy also realized there was a need for a cloth diaper laundering service for busy, eco-​conscious parents overwhelmed with laundering diapers. Envisioning a way to offer an eco-​friendly product and complementary, convenient service to parents, Sandy launched Luludew, a cloth diaper laundering service catering to the Los Angeles area and surrounding cities.

In addition to being earth-​friendly, Luludew’s diapers are cost-​effective, and will save families an average of $ 1,000 from birth to potty learning, compared to using disposable diapers.

Luludew’s diapers are easy to use and don’t require pinning. These soft to the touch diapers are made of 100% organic cotton and are designed to be virtually leak-​free and help to prevent diaper rash.

We’ve used Luludew since about week 2 with our baby (parents y’all know the first few days are only a diaper per # days of life), so depending on your delivery day, don’t start straightaway. We spend $ 99 a week for a clean batch of cloth diapers delivered right to our front door. They have a diapering orientation which is great because you get to see the facility and learn about the cleaning process. When my baby grew out of newborn midweek, it was easy to drive over and swap them out for a new full batch.
They sell lots of cute covers, bags, and other accessories there in the shop.
We’ll keep this up til she’s potty trained — Luludew is been super easy and convenient!

I seriously can’t say enough about Luludew! Talk about exceptional customer service which is hard to find in Los Angeles. I never felt alone in our cloth diaper journey as Luludew takes your hand and guides you through it all. The prices are great and worth every penny! So much better then disposables. Luludew gave us the service they advertise unlike some other services we contacted first. Now that we are ready to do cloth at home on our own Sandy even gave me a great referral to a local cloth diaper store in Sherman Oaks. Love Luludew and recommend them to everyone!

We’ve been using Luludew since the day we brought our baby boy home from the hospital and have nothing but great things to say about the service! I wanted to try cloth diapering but was overwhelmed with all the options and start up cost as well as not looking forward to cleaning diapers while living in an apartment building with shared washers/​dryers. This service is perfect for our family since we can just leave the dirty diapers on our doorstep and get clean ones the next morning. We are doing the basic service and only needed the extra 10 diapers/​week (free with service) during the newborn phase. The start up class they provide is perfect for helping you understand all the different options and ways to use cloth.

Three years ago when I had my first daughter my family gave me a gift card for Luludew Diaper Service, Staff, service, product — all were stellar. I just had another baby and hoped to join the service again. I contacted Luludew ans was bummed to learn that after a recent move, I live outside of the service area. Instead of saying «sorry, we can’t help you, goodbye», Sandy asked if I would be consider cloth diapering at home. I made a trip to the offices and with the guidance of Luludew staff was able to purchase covers and diapers/​supplies to cloth diaper my angel at home. My point is that Luludew staff once again allowed me to pursue an option that was best for my baby, full well knowing that they would be be able to make a monthly profit off of me (because I am not within the service area). The concern was for the well-​being of my baby, not making a buck. I am super excited to start cloth diapering at home and not paying an arm and a leg for disposables! Luludew has come through for my family again!

I should have written a review for Luludew ages ago. Cloth diapering was brought up in conversation and I could not stop raving about Luludew, I really really love this company. If they ever want to, I’m sure they can start a consulting business teaching other businesses customer service. I’m writing this now, but haven’t used them in a few months because my son is now potty trained, we used Luludew since he was born. Their service area is vast, we moved 14 miles away from where we used to live and the transition was as easy as giving them my updated address. Other than their great customer service, their diapers were always clean and fresh, a real quality product. If you’re looking for a diaper service, I cannot recommend them enough.

This is a great service! Clean diapers magically appearing at my door every week is as good as it gets. The owner and staff are wonderful… we have had only good experiences whenever we call. Once I forgot to put my bag of soiled diapers out and was afraid my service would be affected but it was not a problem!

Good service and quality diapers. The women who run are it very nice and give helpful tutorials. Biggest problem was that they always charged me when we had a vacation hold and I always had to call and have them refund me the money. I canceled my service last month and I saw today they charged me for a full month again. I called again and they voided the charge with no problem but it’s pretty annoying. Like I said, the service is good but I would just watch your card statements pretty carefully.

I LOVE Luludew! I prepaid 4 for the service before my son was born. He is my first child, so I was excited to try cloth diapering. It took about 8 weeks for me to get the service started b/​c I was intimidated by the cloth diapers. Mind you, their staff trains you extremely well, I was just an overwhelmed FTM. Once I got past being overwhelmed, I tried the cloth and I have to say, I could never go back to disposables. I LOVE their service! It’s so easy, you literally take the cloth off, dump it in the pail (yes, poop, pee and all) and they pick it up for you.
Their customer service is fantastic, they are always super helpful. They’re so nice if you forget to put the diapers out for pickup (I don’t recommend forgetting. A week of diapers is very, very stinky!).
Anyway, I’ve been very impressed since day 1 with them. Try it out!
Oh, as for the cost, I think it might even be a little cheaper than disposables unless you go overboard with the diaper covers. That is very easy to do though, there’s a TON of super cute options out there.

We’ve been using luludew since our baby was only three days old, so we’ve now had about six weeks of experience with the company. It’s the only diaper service we’ve tried, just for the record. The short version of this review is that minus some frustrations inherent to this type of service, we are very happy with the experience overall.
The longer version:
Each week you get back the same number of prefolds you returned the week before. We’ve run out a few times because (in my experience) they give you the absolute bare minimum that you’d need for a newborn. As anyone with kids can tell you, newborns can kill between 10 – 20 diapers a day. Luludew gives you 80/​wk, or 11.4/day. Our baby averages 14/​day now, but in the beginning it was more like 16/​day so we would regularly run out by day 6 and have to switch to our backup disposables. Luludew will provide 10 extra per week, but even now that still wouldn’t give us enough.
We’ve started laundering the wet ones ourselves mid-​week to give our numbers a boost, which kind of defeats the point (and now we’re paying for utilities to wash on top of Luludew’s weekly fee).
Add to that frustrations over finding diaper covers to fit a newborn (the one size fits all models really are not), and I can’t say I’d wholeheartedly recommend any diaper service in the beginning. It will be better worthwhile once her diaper counts drop to within their weekly number.
Things they do do well:
— introductory one-​on-​one instruction for first-​timers
— a reminder text on delivery night to leave out your diapers for pickup
— diapers are truly clean and fresh and we’ve had no issue with skin reactions
— provided diaper pail and wet bags work great
— ability to «pause» delivery while out of town… we probably should’ve done this when unable to find fitting diaper covers.
If I’d started Luludew with a 3+ month-​old I’d probably rate them higher, and we ARE happier now that she’s a bit older and we’ve worked out the kinks as much as possible. Perhaps this is the best they can do for newborns, but it wasn’t good enough for us in the beginning.

Great cloth diapers: super soft, absorbent & sizes for all ages. They give you tons, more than enough for the week even if your baby gets diarrhea :(I hope not!) They also act as awesome wee wee pads during potty training.
Awesome wipes: clean skin much more easily & gently than the disposables, the fabric is super soft
Great customer services: we have been with Sandy & team for over 2 years & they have accommodated us in every situation. She is super cool & will do whatever it takes to get cloth diapering to work for you.

I have 2 children, the first one I used disposables because cloth diapering never even crossed my mind. With my second child, I had more time to do research on diapering after I thought back to my first daughter’s reaction to disposables. I remember switching brands often due to rashes. I remember reading all the research about cloth diapering and I knew I wanted to do it, but I was a little worried about keeping up with the washing routines for cloth diapering. When I heard about Luludew I knew for sure they would say I was too far for them to deliver to my area as I live in Lynwood, but they said YES! I have a feeling that I would have given up the cloth diapering if I didn’t have their service. Thank you Sandy and the Luludew team for making me life easier.

I’m a busy working mom. I already feel like I do 50 loads of laundry a week. So I’m the least likely person to be pushing cloth diapering. But Luludew made it easy.
Yes, it takes just a few seconds longer and some practice and skill to slip a squirmy baby into a cloth diaper and cover. But it’s worth it. I bought a multi-​month package and felt good about saving money and space in landfills. With the service, I don’t have to rinse or scrape or wash. I just dump the dirties in the bin and forget about it ’til pickup day.
I won’t lie: at first it was rough. But the first few weeks of living with an infant are rough all around! I’m really glad I stuck it out. Once we all got the hang of it, and grew our stash of diaper covers, it was smooth sailing. We had no diaper-​rash problems. Now that we’re potty training, I think my 21-​month-​old knows when he’s wet because of he’s been in cloth his entire life (except for vacations).
Luludew also offers cloth wipes, which I LOVE. And soaker pads, which my heavy-​wetter needed. Sandy was helpful, pragmatic and flexible when it came to working through problems. Hats off to Luludew for making it all possible!

Luludew makes cloth diapering so easy! From the first diaper demo I’ve felt like such a valued customer, and now 18 months later cloth diapering with Luludew is a breeze. They have excellent customer service so if you ever have questions or issues, they’ll get resolved right away.
Luludew is truly the perfect option for people who want an eco-​friendly diapering option, but don’t want to hassle with anything else during a hectic period of life. I cannot recommend Luludew enough!

My daughter was a preemie. When she was in the NICU they insisted on disposable diapers and she had the worst diaper rash ever. As the oldest of four children, I grew up changing cloth diapers and knew when I had my own children I would use cloth diapers too. As soon as she came home, I found Luludew, called Sandy, and have been a fan ever since. I wasn’t certain you could cloth diaper a 4 pound baby, but Sandy showed me how! She makes signing up and learning about new ways to use cloth diapers so easy, and I love the peace of mind of knowing that my daughter’s diapers are organic and as safe as possible for her.
Like someone else said, my husband was a huge skeptic. After one day of cloth diapers he turned to me and said, «why does anyone use disposables?» Cloth smells better, is softer and our daughter gets so much less diaper rash. Thank you to all of the Luludew staff for making cloth diapering such a positive experience!

I can’t sing the praises of this place enough.
I was overwhelmed at all of the options when it came to cloth diapering my (then potential) baby boy. Luckily, a good friend of mine suggested Luludew and I’m so grateful that she did. Not only did the team make our entry into the world of CD’ing easy, they made it fun. Sandy is such a warm, kind, and energetic person and you can tell that she is passionate about what she does. When we met her at the demo (while I was hugely pregnant) I just knew I was on board. She explained all aspects of the service, answered all of our questions, and even rated the stash I had started to build up. The woman knows her stuff!
The service itself could not be easier: drop the dirties outside once a week and they *magically* turn into clean, supersoft diapers by morning. Supersoft diapers that were reserved for only my baby, to boot! If we needed anything extra, the team was quick to respond and threw whatever we needed into the next delivery. I loved it. So much.
Because of Luludew, we’re jumping feet first into the deep end of the world of fluff. If you’re thinking of cloth diapering, I highly recommend them!
