It gave life to downtown LA again and they even had an all you can drink…
When will LA be alive again and establishments like this stay alive? Pains me to see my hometown on the decline like this…

Just to let everyone know that they DO NOT do all you can drink for $ 30 anymore. They probably got in trouble for having too many drunks coming in and out of here. They have recently reopened and from my impressions not for the better.
For the most part the drinks are standard price of $ 8 – 10 and are pretty strong. Everything else about this place is not so great. The DJ was whack! Barely any good music to dance to. They played anything and everything at random from 90’s rap songs, Hispanic rock, and to my count 3 current trendy hip-​hop songs. There is one guy on drums next to the DJ playing all night and I have no idea why he is there. There are no other instruments around. At one point the DJ stopped and he had a little drum solo. The results were people chanting to get the DJ to start playing music again. After a while all I wanted to do was leave and get tacos next door, which was much more enjoyable then this place.
There are better bars on sunset. I would pass on this one.

Lost their liquor license 2 nights ago = ruined bday plans. Had make literal last min changes.
Their liquor license will be suspended from Jan 5 – 20.
And from what I heard, they no longer have the buffet of drinks. For $ 5 drinks, including top shelf, still not bad.

This is definitely an interesting venue, and not what I would expect in the middle of Hollywood on Sunset. It’s an awkwardly laid out bar that probably would be better served in less crowded area.
The venue has many obstacles so it’s not easy to maneuver through when crowds pour in. There’s counters sticking out everywhere and pillars in the way.
If you do safely navigate from front to back you’ll pass by the kitchen, which makes some delicious burgers and bacon wrapped tots. Then you’ll pass the restrooms (one of the female stalls was missing a lock when I was there). Then you can squeeze through a doorway into this nice lounge area. Both sides of the lounge are lined with windows so you can see down into the patio below. And speaking of the patio, It’s small and has a very backyard feel to it with tables, portable heaters, and a couch like area that sits in a covered area.
Don’t worry, there’s a bar down there too so you don’t have to go all the way upstairs and the length of the building for another drink.

Libertine= A liberal place for lewd and lustful behavior in the spirit of pouring libations to honor the destruction of one’s liver.

So, here’s an update to this place. I came back two weeks ago for my best friend’s bday. We found out that they don’t do all you can drink for $ 25 anymore —-BUT there is NO COVER & all drinks are only $ 5, including shots! i still think it’s worth it, because their drinks are pretty strong and it’s same as paying $ 25 if you drink 5 drinks!
I still recommend this place, it’s a good social place to drink with friends especially if you don’t really care about music. The reason why i mention «MUSIC» is because the last time i went, there was no DJ — they were playing music with someones IPOD?

All you can drink top shelf liquor for $ 25… sounds like a great idea right?
Wrong.
2 hours and a million trips to the bar later, my friends and I are definitely more than slightly inebriated and stumbling out of the door. Some (though they will not be named) have puked all over couches/​bathrooms, while other had to be carried out early. Though these nights are rough, I think you definitely get the biggest bang for your buck.
If you’re not in the drinking mood, it cost $ 5 to get in. Consequently, it is possible to «share» one of those $ 25 all you can drink wrist bands by just getting extra drinks per trip to the bar. However, the bar does get crowded, and you definitely need to push and shove in order to get the bartender’s attention. (sometimes if you order large amounts of drinks, the bartender requests that everybody in your group with a wristband sticks their hand up)
My friends and I have also sat at the tables upstairs before with some people we met, thinking that the service would be faster there. However, the wait is just as long to get the waitresses attention, and to have them make your drink and bring it back to you.
The all you can drink goes until 1:00, but if you pay extra you can get a different colored wristband so you can drink until 2:00 (assuming you make it to then).
Street parking is available, but we’ve definitely had to walk quite a long distance to get there before.
Finally, be sure to hit up Pinches next door for some mexican food drunchies after you’re done with Libertine. Nom nom!

I came here for a friend’s birthday during the past weekend. Now, the idea of All-​you-​can-​drink sounds like a brilliant idea… unless you’re the DD (designated driver)…then you’re screwed.
The way it works here is that you pay $ 30 to enter, you get a wristband and then you have access to whatever you want to drink for the whole night. Cocktails, beer, top of the shelf liquor, shots, whatever you want. I think that if you’re the birthday boy or girl, looking to get absolutely trashed, then this is the place for you. However, if you are looking for anything other than that, then you may find yourself amidst a sea of raging, drunken frat-​type guys and girls. And if you’re D.D., well, you’re just an awesome friend for driving back your drunk friends at an AYCD plance.
The ambiance was ghetto and musty, which is fine for some people, but like other people say, it seemed more like a big frat party rather than a lounge.
The birthday boy reserved a table in the back of the venue, but the waitress booked over his reservation and the HALF COUCH we were given barely fit enough people. And the area just reeked of bleach, making it hard to breathe. I don’t know what happened to the area that required so much bleach to be used, but I’m guessing in its type of setting, it must have involved spilled alcohol and barf.
Towards the end of the night, the place just got really messy, with the floor sticky and with toilet paper and napkins strewn about the floor. Predictably, fights broke out, although I was in the restroom and missed all of the action. But that’s okay, my friends and I just ended up talking to some girl who threatened to beat up the guy that harassed one of my friends, and then, revealed that SHE WAS SLINGING (hint: she had a gun). Okay, now I know I’m definitely not partying at the nicer part of LA.
Overall experience: messy, loud and too crazy for me. I won’t be returning because even though the idea of all-​you-​can-​drink sounds great, there’s just many other factors lining up behind that $ 30 you spend for a night here. Come if you’d like to relive your college years of drunken slurring, dancing and brawling. It’s all here.

I’ve never been to an AYCD bar before (with top shelf liquor) so me and a few friends decided to check this place out. They’ve raised their price to $ 30 AYCD until closing and don’t offer the $ 25 untill 1am deal anymore.
This place was two floors; you enter the bar at the 2^nd floor, and there’s a stairway leading to the outdoor 1^st floor, which also has a smaller bar on that floor. There is a small dance floor (if you can even call it one cause it’s probably like 5×5 lol) The crowd was pretty diverse, and kind of crowded by later that night, but not too bad. The music was not very good… I wished they played a good mix of some hip hop and house music… The highlight of my night was their BACON WRAPPED TOTS stuffed with cheese and jalapeño! me and my friends ordered this 3 times! one of the best drunk munchies ive had! if only i had a dirty dog to accompany that… lol. But yeah, it’s an alright place to go, but I don’t know if it would be my first choice to go to on a friday/​saturday night.
Oh yes, make sure you bring some cash to tip the bartender and if it gets crowded, be smart and order a few drinks at one time so you won’t have to push through people to order another round.

$ 25 all you can drink… whhhaaaaaaattttt???
That’s right, $ 25 includes getting you in the joint and all you can drink until 1 am in the morning. You are not restricted to certain drinks only, you can order whatever your liver can take.
They do serve food but not really interested to go eat there, more like to go, drink, mingle and party. The place is fairly small with an indoor and outdoor area. Both locations have their bar, but does not mean that it will be easy to get a drink. Yes, there is a catch. During peak hours, which should be like 11:30 pm ish, it gets fairly packed and fairly busy. My advice for you is to start early, and double fist those drinks while your still at the bar!
There will be lots of drunk people around you by midnight, so be prepared to be stumbled on or see people barf in restroom or outside. The dance floor is fairly small and can get a bit warm inside. Overall it is a good experience though. Lots of people, lots of fun and yes lots of alcohol!

I wish I could give this place half a star.

Long lines… Over crowded. Drinks are nothing to rave over. Bouncers and bartenders are rude. Let five bald short dudes cut a huge line??? I’m sorry but don’t clubs and bars usually allow chicks to get in before a huge army of bros ??? Makes no sense. This place is a waste of your night and time. Walk up a block to the body shop or even saddle ranch! Yup… This place is THAT bad. Please stay AWAY.

Seriously, this place is so crazy. Freaking clusterBEEEEP. Come before 11 otherwise you will be standing in a super long line and will not be able to make the most of the $ 25 ALL YOU CAN DRINK special since it stops at 1. We were lucky that we were with an event so we didn’t have to wait long, bc waiting in that line was going to SUCK. Everyone has a similar purpose for going: getting trashed or just wanting a really good time… it’s amaaaaazinggggg!
As everyone has said, it is a house in Hollywood that has been converted into a club/​bar. The ultimate house party! There are two floors, the bottom being partially outdoor so people can smoke.
If you hate being jostled and pretty much butt bumped by many strangers every second then you’re going to have to either drink more or suck it up. Just drink more. The bartenders are generous with alcohol, and with the $ 25 wristband you do get access to their top of the line offerings. There is a bar downstairs as well as upstairs… but seriously it can be kind of difficult to get a drink because everyone is trying to get their money’s worth. Just wave a few dollar bills around if you’re that impatient… you don’t HAVE to tip but it is nice. This one bartender though was kind of an ass and was like ‘WHAT NO TIP?” the one time I didn’t. Sooooooo… RUDE. The girl bartenders are a lot nicer so we tipped them nicely.
GIRLS: use the downstairs bathroom, there’s less of a line and it’s WAYYYY CLEANER than the upstairs one.
After 1, everyone has to go upstairs and then it becomes even more claustrophobic than it already was… HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE??! Wall to wall sweating body mania and probably most of the people that were here before have already left bc they are too sloppy. Everyone left at that point is seriously rowdy out of their minds!
Definitely not 4 stars for being a classy place, but hey everyone deserves to have a place for their trashy moments once in awhile, no?

AYCD sounds like a great idea right? No, WRONG. It’s a great idea if you were surrounded by people who could handle their liquor. Within the first half hour of being there, some dude got kicked out. Homeboy, threw up all over the floor! And he was just the first of many…
The place is sweaty, overly crowded, and smells like vomit. People left and right were getting shit-​faced, horny, and straight up annoying. I felt like i was at a college frat party. LIBERTINES IS REPULSIVE. Parking sucks, crowd DEFINITELY sucks, and smelling like yack reallly sucks!!!
I’m not gonna be a complete haterr and give Libertines a one star because i should have known what i was walking into. You totalllllyyy get your moneys worth. They do have top shelf alcohol and they pour a stiff drink. I definitely recommend this place if you are into this kindaa stufff… you know, beligerent drunks & bodily fluids flying around.

I don’t even know where to begin! haha. I am not proud to say i was super wasted!!(never again). The place was better than i expected. Everyone was really nice, even the bouncers. They took care of my friends and I. No hassle to get in, and i got there at 11.
I haven’t even mentioned that it’s $ 25 all you can drink!!! Now, i know what can happen when you go to an all you can drink club. lol! It gets busy after 11, since everyone has to squeeze in the crowd at the bar to get drinks. But it was all right, i got my drinks. Just tip the bartender and they’ll give you what you need. hahah
I will definitely go back with my friends soon!

I would give a review about all the fun times I’ve had at Libertine’s, but I don’t remember ANY OF THEM. My aching liver and nasty heels probably have a lot more to say of my nights spent here. Perhaps it’s because of the «All You Can Drink» specials they have everyday? UMM MOST LIKELY YES.
For $ 25, you feel like a baller for a couple hours, taking shots of Patron and not regretting any hangover you suffer the next morning because HEY, it’s the cheapest hangover you’ve ever had in your alcohol bingeing life. While they advertise it as all you can drink, they continue to hand drinks out to people who clearly already had all they can drink. So «All you can throw up» is probably a more accurate special that they offer.
You can only imagine the extent of things that can happen here. Pushy people, max capacity before 11pm, a non existent dance floor, fire code violations, the bouncer and bar owner handing you a bottle of water and still allowing you back into the bar after you’ve thrown up right on Sunset Blvd. (not that it’s happened to me but, JUST SAYING). The possibilities are endless, making this not the classiest spot on Sunset to begin with (but then again, what is?!)
Salvage whatever is left of your liver and come here. Bring your friends so someone can identify you when you’ve passed out on the floor. Go to Pinches Tacos after. And most important of all, Stay Classy. Wait, scratch that, STAY ALIVE.

Can’t go wrong when it’s $ 25 all you can drink but you’ll have to deal with the place being packed on weekends, not a lot of sitting room, expensive valet parking because it’s on sunset, and bartenders can get rude when it’s hectic.
Mixed crowd, casual attire, decent music, outside patio for smoking and chillin, overall decent place to get fu*ked up.
No review on the food. Not even going to bother in this spot.

Libertine is one of the WEIRDEST and strangest Hollywood experiences to-​date. Why? Ohhhhhhh, I will tell you why:
1. Libertine feels like you’re back in college at a Frat party. Why? It’s literally a house on Sunset Blvd (across the street from Château Marmont). It doesn’t look like it from the outside, but it’s LITERALLY a house converted into a party house with multiple rooms. It SCREAMS parrrrrrrtaaaaaay!
2. It has a slightly trashy, gritty, grungy feeling to it. Hence, you feel like you’re at a Frat house! Lovely (?) Wooden floors, drinks spilled everywhere, stuffy and hot inside…
3. Plastic cups. I mean, do I need to say anything else? Where in Hollywood do you drink out of plastic cups???
4. The most diverse crowd ever. Most Hollywood bars/​clubs/​lounges have a certain type of crowd. But here, you’ll find everyone from everywhere! It’s actually a refreshing!
5. The Unilocal reviews say this place is a «lounge» — To me, a lounge is classy, chill and relaxed. Nope, not here. The music is blasting, there’s usually a guy on the drums playing to the beat of the music (…I don’t know why either) and it’s straight up screaming HOUSE PARTY!
6. Right now, they have a $ 25 promotion. You pay $ 25 bucks, and it’s unlimited drinks all night. Super fratty and house-​party esque!
So after reading 1 – 6, you might think i’m hating on Libertine. But why in the world would i give it ⁴⁄₅ stars? Well, basically, like I said — it’s the weirdest experience because of the vibe and atmosphere, but for SOME REASON it’s incredibly ENJOYABLE AND immensely FUN! People here aren’t haters and judging people like crazy (which is what you’ll always find at Hollywood clubs/​lounges). People here are seriously down to have a FUN time, minus the drama. It’s alllll PEACE AND LOVE!!! If you don’t believe me, you might just have to check it out and see it for yourself. Peace, Love, Life, and LIBERTY!!!

I don’t know the hows, whys, or whens but I have been to the Libertine on two different occasions (Tuesday and Friday evenings) where I was able to dabble in $ 25 All You Can… DRINK! No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you, I said DRINK! It’s like one of my genie in a bottle wishes came true! You can only imagine what debauchery ensues on an outing where the bar basically just pours the alcohol straight into your mouth all night long. Lionel Ritchie style.
Also noteworthy: The management has changed since my last review (about a yearish ago) and because of their sheer amazingness, I helped secure this location for my high school reunion. The staff just plain rocked and their easy breezy attitude took the uncomfortableness out of the awkward event that is a ten-​year reunion. Food was in abundance, open bar was flowing (drinks were stiff, shots were larger than life, and there was no wait to get a libation, or two, in your hands), and the DJ was rocking. The night went so swimmingly well that FB blew up the next day with people praising Libertine for providing us all such a memorable evening. I highly recommend Charlie Chaplin’s old digs (look it up!) if you ever need an event space, because your guests will surely be impressed!
Don’t forget to check out the outdoor area downstairs in the back, when it’s not pouring rain, of course.

TATER TOTS!
And not just any kind of tater tot. A tater tot stuffed with jalepenos, wrapped with bacon!!! Just the thought of it makes me go bonkers just how I went bonkers at the Unilocal event stuffing my tummy with them. Mm nom nom.
Their ham and cheese sandwiches were okay and so were the hummus and and pita bread. Other than that, thanks Raj for giving me TWO tater tots at a time ;)

I was lucky enough to enjoy these EPICally tasty suckers at a recent event. They made me swoon and beg Jason for more they were that good.
An official visit to Libertine is in order and I’m looking forward to it. Just hope Jason is working that night. (;
