How are these people still in business? Nothing short of predators wanting you to buy non-​United States coins with little investment value. The sales pressure is thick and heavy with email and phone calls constantly to tell me the price of silver went up a few cents and I need to buy some right now. Wish I never heard of Lear Capital or bought anything from them. I was pressured into buying as they wouldn’t respect my decision not to buy and I caved. I finally stopped answering the phone when they called. My encounter with this company has been so awful I’ve decided to try buying stock instead. I just hate that my first try at investing was with this company. It has made me overly cautious.

Great company. Very helpful and patient. I was worried about my IRA that was invested in stocks and they walked me through the entire rollover process. I feel very happy with my decision to work with Lear.

I called Lear up to discuss diversifying some of my retirement portfolio. We discussed a few different options and I decided to roll over my traditional ira into a precious metals backed ira of both gold and silver. My Lear Capital account executive, Larrin Devereaux answered all my numerous questions about purchasing gold and silver and transferring an old 401k into a new IRA. The process was easy. Larrin knows his industry well. The major selling point for me was that I could browse the website from the comfort of my home and find high quality metals. The package my coin arrived in was well sealed and all the literature accompanying it was highly informative and intelligently put together. Beware of companies that don’t post their prices online.

No nonsense shop, got a few numismatics along with some straight bullion. Great experience working with Brad K, very knowledgeable and not pushy. I’ll probably be doing business with them again soon at these prices. The coins look like they’re fresh from the mint and packaged well. I don’t understand others’ complaints, bullion investing (like all investing) is risky, do your own research and know what you’re getting into.

Lear Capital delivered everything as promised to me and then some. The coins I ordered look incredible and I verified their value with local coin shops. Nobody was able to beat the prices I received from Lear. It took 8 days for me to receive the metals I ordered (silver and gold Polar Bear Cub and Arctic Fox) after they had received the check I sent to them. Every dealing I’ve had with Lear Capital has been a positive experience. I’ve been dealing in precious metals for years and have found this company to be the most trustworthy by far. A+

I personally purchased a Large Amount of Silver and Gold from Lear Capital. I was very pleased with the knowledgeable staff & fast turn around time of delivery. From start to finish i received the metals in my hands around 8 business days.

Lear Capital only responded to my Unilocal post and has not contacted me directly even though they said they want to resolve the dispute. I do not believe they are sincere in wanting to resolve the dispute and only posted on Unilocal to appear that they care about their customers. Do yourself a favor and don’t get ripped off by Lear Capital.
I researched the fair market value of the coin (PCGS rated) on Heritage Auctions and stand by my prior claim that Lear Capital overcharged me by approximately $ 800 for a gold coin.
Do yourself a favor and buy from a reputable company such as Heritage Auctions or American Precious Metals Exchange (APMEX) and NOT Lear Capital.

Absolute scam. They sold my mother gold coins for $ 2,355 each. That was in 2009. I called them today to see if they would buy them back. Of course. For $ 1,293 — about half of what she paid for them. I asked how that was possible that she would be losing that much money. «Because gold prices were considerably higher five years ago.» Really? So I looked it up on numerous sites. The average price in 2009 was $ 973 with the highest level at $ 1104. They saw my mother coming. They are piranhas. She will be losing $ 7,434. For the love of God, stay away.

Lear is just another predator in the sea of ready prey that is right-​wing radio and TV.
Note the threatening ads — China is buying up US gold RIGHT NOW! This could be your LAST CHANCE to own physical gold, ever!
Note also the absurd product they offer — physical gold at a massive premium. If you really think that the world is going down in flames in the next couple of years, and that some physical gold is going to help you during that time, by all means, go nuts.
Note the change in tune depending on the situation. three years ago: «Gold is higher than ever and sure to rise!» Today: «Gold is at sub-​market lows and sure to rise!» Unlike physical gold, there is no premium on accuracy.
They advertise on Beck, Limbaugh and Faux news for Chrissakes. Facts need not apply… just save me from those money grubbing Chinese (Muslims, Obama, gun control, Russians, apocalypse demons… whatever manufactured threat they’re bandying about today)!
Lear currently offers (claims to offer) a paranoia-​inducing «China Report,» advertised often on Hate Radio. But go ahead, try calling, like I did. You will encounter high-​pressure sales and if the rep thinks for even a moment that you are not going to «buy gold from us today» (their words, 5 or 6 times), get ready for the ol’ hang up treatment. They will also demand your personal info. It’s like they really care about just who you are. Gives you an important kind of feeling, no?

We are in the process of making precious metal purchases and we wanted to try a few companies to see who would offer better service and deliver quickly.
Of the online services, this was the worst experience we’ve had. We figured to start off with a small, minimal purchase and see for ourselves which we would use for our larger purchases in the future.
First off, we did read the fine print and we expected some delays but this is ridiculous. We sent them a check, they cashed it, it cleared, they held on to my money (the check cleared) for close to a month and could not tell us when the order would ship. Then I had to place the order on hold (because they had no idea when it would ship) and when we removed the hold, they still couldn’t tell us when out order would ship. This practice doesn’t seem right, I guess you have to be a big dollar buyer to get the service.
We have found a local brick and mortar shop that will clear our order after they cash our check and will also accept cash orders with a CC hold when we purchase. If you have a local dealer close by, I recommend using that option instead of larger places like Lear, unless you like to wait until your hair turns silver.
