Was initially pushed by wifey to see Layla for «brown spots in the face.» Thought it was really over the top at first — a guy seeing an «aesthetician» for something that isn’t deadly and really is just a minor defect. It turns out I was wrong! Layla is a consummate professional who really takes a good look at your skin. Wife has had excellent results getting her Mediterranean-​type uneven pigmentation to a pretty porcelain state, thanks to Layla’s exclusive brands of products, plus she’s had some «needling» to stimulate healing from brown post-​acne spots that really worked. Now my Northern European pale skin has taken a beating from the sun throughout the years. Layla checked my face, ears and scalp (!!!) for unusual moles. She isn’t a doctor, but trained to see if something is off or unusual-​looking (I swear, I can’t check my own scalp, impossible). She administered some very soothing treatments that left my face and above all neck less tight, less dry and actually way more comfortable. And finally, I bought some facial sun screen that I can tolerate. I hate that goopy stuff but for playing golf in the sun, she’s got excellent products that don’t clog or feel sticky. The office is conveniently located and has good parking. Recommended all the way!

Service — A+++. Layla is polite and professional. She was sympathetic to my medical needs and supportive. We bonded immediately over conversation about food, family and pets. I was really nervous about getting electrolysis but she put me right at ease. She educated me on what to expect and after care and game me a lifetime supply of samples. I appreciated the realistic goals she set for me, unlike other places I visited.
I was so comfortable with Layla that today on my third visit, I actually nodded off while she worked on me for a hour. Her touch is gentle and the results are amazing. No short cuts. She is the real deal.
I will gladly recommend her to any friends and family looking for electrolysis service.

I have been cursed with excessive facial hair since birth. While electrolysis isn’t pleasant, the results have been fantastic. I couldn’t get the results I wanted with laser treatment. The work Layla has done has changed the way I see myself. And, she was willing to work with my restrictive schedule. I highly recommend her!

I purchased a daily deal here for laser vein treatment when I got there she wanted to use an electric needle instead on my face and the very tiny capillary that was like pin dot at the end of my nose that was bothersome to me but unnoticeable no one else. When she first zapped my face the pin dot disappeared but not a half an hour later it was back BIGGER AND REDDER I called and she said to give it time because it was like surgery and needed to heal. I waited a few months and it never went away. Again I called and she said to come in and she would look at it. She zapped my nose again saying this would RESOLVE AND REMOVE it and the same thing happened except now it is EVEN BIGGER AWFUL AND REDDER AND VERY NOTICEABLE I now have a BIG UGLY PROMINENT BLOTCH THAT HAS NOT SHRUNK OR FADED OR GONE AWAY IN OVER A YEAR instead of a pin dot on my nose I have to look at everyday AND PEOPLE TELL ME THERE IS SOMETHING ON MY NOSE ALL THE TME BECAUSE IT LOOKS SO HORRIBLE. I wish I had never let her touch it STAY AWAY IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR FACE SHE HAS RUINED MINE AND IT WILL TAKE 1000s to TRY to UNDO THE DAMAGE!!!

I’m updating an older review to add a star because of a new, positive experience with Layla. As my older review that follows below will explain, I switched from Layla to another facial electrologist some time ago. However, I returned to Layla on a surgeon’s referral for specialized electrolysis on a different part of my body from my original Layla’s experience.
A few days ago, I was returning to town from a business trip, by car, for a 5 pm appointment. As I reached home at four, I received a call from Layla asking if I was on time. Only then did I discover that, at the time change, all the appointments in my phone’s calendar had bumped back one hour. Then, to make matters worse, I found that my building manager had broken the lock to my apartment during my absence. Not only was I late, but I couldn’t get to my anesthetic cream in my apartment without waiting for a locksmith. Layla provided new cream and an oral painkiller. She stayed late to give me the same amount of treatment time, and did not charge any extra for starting my treatment fully an hour after my scheduled time. She made my day. That is my new experience at Layla’s that led me to raise my old review from three stars to four.

This is a mother-​daughter electrolysis practice on the west side just north of Ralphs and Trader Joes, on Barrington. The office is on the second story of a four story office complex. Plush sofas, Persian rugs, and Buddha knickknacks give the office a cosy feel. There is free 2 and 4 hour street parking in the blocks west of Barrington. Layla’s offers two-​technician sessions as well as marathon sessions.
I have tried four different electrology practices and Layla’s was among the top two. I had a total of about 15 hours of treatment before going elsewhere. Both Layla and Jeanette treated me. I have very sensitive, pale, vascular skin, and was noticing lasting skin discoloration and pitting three months after those 15 hours.
Layla and Jeanette use 100% flash thermolysis. After each treatment, my skin remained pretty ugly for nearly four days. After roughly 12 hours of swelling, I experienced scabbing and redness that lasted nearly 7 days. Usually, there were several whiteheads, as well. I was having my face treated, and it was not pleasant to walk around for a week with these after effects each time. At the time, I thought this was normal for electrolysis. I thought it indicated successful treatment, when really it was over-​treatment. When I noticed pitting and discoloration that did not fade, I researched electrolysis more and tried another electrologist that I now prefer.
On my first visit, Layla sold me some topical anesthetic that was quite strong. That may be a plus for you, if you need pain control. With Layla and Jeanette, I preferred to use it. It was about $ 45. You must apply this cream an hour before your visit which also can be awkward, as it is white, and you need to wear plastic wrap over it until and during your treatment.
I preferred Layla to Jeanette. To me, Jeanette was more painful and often asked me to twist about or lay on my side in a way that made an uncomfortable treatment more uncomfortable. Also, they both offered me some new product or service during every session, suggesting new lip gloss, moisturizers, laser treatments, or permanent makeup services. That might be great for some people, but I found it too much like door to door peddling: a bit annoying.
There are some people who swear by Layla’s and absolutely adore Layla and Jeanette. I know that some of their clientèle even spend time with Layla socially. I understand that completely. They are friendly people. I just didn’t react well to their electrolysis. I have since had many more hours of treatment with another electrologist who uses a blend machine. My face looks nearly normal two hours after the treatment, there is no scabbing, and I’m pleased with the progress. Also, it is far, far, far less painful, for me, at least. I recommend trying multiple electrologists before committing to longer treatment sessions with any single one. Simply experiencing multiple technicians taught me a great deal not just about the process, but about my own skin. You don’t want any lasting damage beyond hair removal. Blend treatment was far more desirable and effective, for me.

Although the salon did seem a little haphazardly constructed upon initial inspection, I found myself to always be comfortable while I was in the treatment room here. I have 3 laser hair removal sessions after buying a Lifebooker coupon and I found the overall results to be pleasing. The treatment was not painful (although brief, whether or not that’s a bad thing I am not sure) and Layla is very sweet.

I was carded. At the movie theater! The girl said they card people 25 and under. I started laughing! I am 37 and had just had a laser facial with Layla the week before!
I have had every kind of facial treatment you can think of in every city I have lived in but there is no one better than Layla!
My ooooh so cute freckles were turning into ooooh so ugly brown spots. Ca. Sun is brutal on the ladies and Layla said about 6 to10 treatments would give me relief depending on how deep the sun damage was.
After a great steam, glycolic, extractions and microdermabrasion, I was ready for the 1200 watts!
She said the freckles would flake off and sure enough the next morning I had 3 big ones come off while others that looked like well done toast came off with a buff puff!
I just had my fifth one tonight and can’t wait to finish the series! I saw great results with one but I want the full results I can achieve. Ohhh and a silly skin tag I had on my cheek for ten years she removed in sixty seconds as well. I can’t believe I convinced myself it was a beauty mark lol!
Parking is easy, the inner courtyard is gorgeous, her space is private and comfortable. Layla herself is very knowledgable, professional, and caring, like a best girlfriend with access to the fountain of youth!
I would love to keep this secret haven all to myself to make sure I can still get an appt. when I want, but after being carded at the movies, I have to let my sisters know!
Why pay double what you would at a derm or medical spa? Layla takes better care of you with better results! I am using the Dermalogica line she offers with great results as well. Great service, great prices and excellent results. I can’t wait to get carded for my age again!

THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER … PERIOD! I bought an online promotional offer for lazer vein treatment for $ 150 dollars (for both legs) and It was like i put my money in the toilet and flushed it myself!
First i get there and this place looked like she threw it together from her home sheet set and Tupperware collection (aka — Costco Mayo jug). Don’t expect much in the sense of comfort or luxury.
Secondly, i get there and the owner is frazzled and doesn’t even know how to turn on her computer much less understand the whole concept of the lifebooker voucher. She ask ME what was included in the package i purchased and the price i paid. When i told her I bought a package that included lazer removal for one leg… she was VERY hesitant and said it only included a small area and not the entire leg. Either i was deceived by the ad or i go the run around from this establishment. She had the nerve to say i was getting a «deal»… how was i suppose to even distinguish a «deal» from what i was supposably paying for.
Before I sat on the makeshift table, she pulled a fitted sheet from a pile which was stuffed in a suitcase lying on the floor. She didn’t acknowledge that this was my first time nor bothered to mention any precautions or protocols. I sat on the table for a total of 4 minutes max and she zapped around 5 individual veins the size of a my index finger tip (at most) on the front of each leg and a few on the back of the leg. Nothing changed from the time i walked in (2 weeks ago) till now… in fact she burnt my leg with the lazer in one area, probably because she was rushing through the entire procedure before she kicked me out so she could attend to one of her «regular» client who was 25 minutes early!
Everyone has their own opinion and not every experience is the same, but i wouldn’t recommend this place.

I got a promo offer from this place and even though Layla was very sweet, her laser zapping of my broken capillaries/​spider veins did absolutely nothing. I have done laser treatments in the past on a different body area and normally you see improvement after only one treatment.
No so here. I spent $ 200 and have absolutely no results whatsoever.

I’ve gone to her for facials mainly and wow is she good! Very attentive to my needs and goes well above and beyond what is expected. Provides exeptional service, makes me laugh and my skin feel rejuvinated. Oh, and i’ve never had to wait.

Layla is an amazing and wonderful individual. I’ve been visiting her since February (’10) and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have found her. Actually, I didn’t find her as much as she was recommended to me by my incredible doctor. First class talent will always associate with first class talent.
The salon is rather secluded and quite relaxing. It provides a very calm, comfortable and private atmosphere. In short, it’s a place for premium technical service with one of the most positive, open, and talented individuals you could hope to meet.
Anyway, I’ve benefited from electrolysis services on numerous occasions and her precision and touch are impressive. And! Her ability to keep me optimistic and looking forward to my next session is the greatest testimony to her skill. She is very intuitive and manages to find the appropriate pace for whatever mood I happen to be in that day and the results perfect. Technically speaking, she is the best professional available for this care and I’ve witnessed several people making appointments from other cities… and overseas… trying to see her on during their upcoming visits to LA.
As a person, she’s wonderfully friendly on every occasion I’ve met her and she is genuinely concerned for all her clients’ welfare. She seems to express real interest in whatever you experiences I wish to share and will remember them on the following sessions.
Finally, I have also enjoyed several of her skin care treatments… including the microderm abrasion. This is definitely one indulgence that produces lasting pleasure.

Layla is kinda amazing! She is very good about making me feel comfortable and relaxed. She was quick and I had little discomfort.
